Good morning everybody,
I am a new user but I have been reading you for a little while...
Since yesterday I have got a new HTC One M9, it's my first HTC phone and I am still studying it... Before this I had a Moto G (2013) with Lollipop 5.0.2 so I already know some of Lollipop features. Among this, I was successfully using the schedule Interruptions with the "Allow only priority interruptions" mode active. With this option, on the Moto G, when receiving a notification, the led starts blinking but the phone is not either vibrating or ringing (as it should not). On the other hand, on the HTC M9, with this option on, even the led is not blinking (it blinks when I set to have all the notifications active).
Are you experiencing the same? Is there anyway I can have the led blinking even if I am in priority only mode?
Thank you.
Apparently, is a "bug" of Google itself that was "corrected" in 5.1.
Maybe I did not have it with the Moto G because Motorola "fixed" while HTC did not.

Is there a workaround on the 5 minute LED timeout for notifications? I am moving over from my S5 in all likelihood since I am on my 4th defective S5 now. I had a problem with the LED not triggering on the HTC One in July, but I am thinking about going back. HTC says it's designed to work like that, but using stock and without rooting or s-off, can you work on the colors for the LED and their timing? I am used to a notification LED on my S5 and that's important. I might as well go with an iPhone if I didn't have a LED!
Hi everyone.
So I've had my htc one m8 for about a year and a half and never had any problems Today all of a sudden the display wont turn on and when I plug in the charger it wont show the led light. When i call on my number , it goes through but there is no sound and the display wont light up.
Does anyone know as to why this is happening ? Maybe some hardware issue ?
Hello all!
I'm coming here from an exploding Note 7, returned that and have a temporary HTC Desire 530 as a placeholder (it sucks hard). Trying to decide if I want this phone or not. I have one question I haven't seen discussed.
Can you put the phone in silent mode without turning on Do Not Disturb mode? DND mode makes both my Android Wear and my TizenOS smartwatches worthless.
In the phone I have right now when you put the phone in silent it turns on Do Not Disturb mode, meaning my watches get NO notifications. I loved on my last few phones I could have a silent phone, but still get notifications from both the notification light and my watch. In my current phone if you turn off DND mode then it goes into vibrate mode which vibrates extremely loud on my desk at work. My only option has been to get a silent mp3 file for my ringtone and notification sounds. PITA switching sounds when I get home from work every day.
If you can put the phone in silent mode (no vibrate for notifications/ringing, no sound for notifications/ringing) but still get vibration notifications on smart watches and the notification light then I'm sold!
Can anyone shine some light on this for me?
This HTC Desire 530 is sucking my will to live. I need subtle vibration notifications on my wrist throughout the work day on projects/emails/etc with a silent (and not vibrating) phone.
This isn't a limitation of the phone or the phone specific software, this is simply how android marshmallow and up works

Not on the LG G4, LG G5 or Galaxy Note 7. On both those devices I can drop the phones volume down to silent mode and it still:
A) Turns on the notification light
B) Vibrates my Android Wear watch
I have no idea what genius thought they should create a mode that nixes one of the main smart watch selling points baked right into the OS. =(
I want notifications on my wrist without my phone vibrating - why is that such a crazy thing? lol
If anything I should be able to disable Do Not Disturb mode and restore regular normal functional silence mode through a custom ROM or root or something... maybe?
Also you didn't say if this does this for sure. If you set your OP3 into silent mode, can you still allow ALL notifications in this mode? I know the OP3 is supposed to be customizable but I'm not sure to what extent.
Hello,
I'm using this app to turn on the Notification Led on my Moto G6 Plus: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.com.itsmeton.motoledenabler&hl=nl
U need root but it works perfectly, i was just wondering if someone could modify it so it only turns on the Led when the screen is off, and maybe make it a bit more reliable.
Thanks in advance.
I'm genuinely curious, where is that led on the g6 plus?

Have you had that app long? I tried using it on my G6 (non plus) and it kept crashing and trying to restart only to fail. The settings wouldn't save and the led was sporadic when it worked.
Late on this, but since it was never answered, all Moto g's have a usable notification light that can be toggled with run shell action in Tasker with a rooted phone. The one on the regular G6 is pretty tiny, and blue colored only, but it's nice to have. The one on the g3 is white and brighter than the g6.
In tasker:
Run shell
echo 255 > /sys/class/leds/charging/brightness
turns it's on
Run shell
echo 0> /sys/class/leds/charging/brightness
turns it off
Just add a wait action in between. Combine that with a profile event>Notification received and state>Display off and it will only work when the screen is on. You can also toggle the front camera flash with Tasker using Java functions without root. I have mine set so the front flash and back torch flashes together when a notification is received to get my attention if the phone is nearby and then it switches to notification LED if the notification is still active since it's more battery effecient.

I have been using this command - and it has been working for a while. Recently, I installed Evolution X - Android 10 based - and can't seem to get the LED to work. Any ideas for that?

The LED is designed to be a "sign of life" light, as in your phone is so dead when you plug it in the screen wont turn on but the light briefly flashes to let you know that it is charging. My guess is that the rom you're using (which I'm not at all familiar with that specific rom to be clear) has disabled that or changed the parameters and that's why it's not working. I would ask the devs.
You could try echo 1 instead of echo 255 just to see if it works, doubt it will make a difference but worth trying
For the regular moto g6 the rom development is almost non-existent so I can't experiment with it myself.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. echo 1 doesn't work (as you suspected)...
I've installed lineage os 17.1 on my Moto G6 plus, and this ROM have a full usable notification led, you can modify the led brightness and the apps, I was very surprised when a friend send a WhatsApp and the led starts to Bright
I've got the phone 2 weeks ago and ever since then the notification LED randomly blinks almost all the time.
It blinks green every second even though there are no notifications.
Tried turning off the alarm and AOD but to na avail.
LG-G710EM, stock V10f-EUR-XX.
It also blinks when there is a real notification, but since it blinks constantly- I can't "trust" the LED.
Is there a way I can find out what's triggering it?
I believe it turns off sometimes but I can't figure out what is the cause.
I've had S8 and didn't have those kind of problems with the LED and I've had the sam apps (plus/minus Samsung and LG stock apps).

It would help if you told us exactly what phone and model you have.
Is it stock or modded?
I've never seen any such issue with my stock G710EAW. The green LED only blinks when there is a message notification.

Sorry, it's LG-G710EM, stock V10f-EUR-XX.
I've updated the first post.
The LED on my G7 always blinks when I receive a new email, even if I turned the notifications off for that. Maybe your emails?

Nope- tested it just now.
Although it stopped today during the day- but continued now again.
Today it didn't turn on until now.
It was on the charger and was blinking red since it was charging.
But when it came to a 100%- it started blinking green (when off the charger and the screen is off).
If I wake up the phone- it stops.
No notifications of any kind.
But it stopped blinking when the battery dropped to 99%.
EDIT: Yep, it seems like the 100% battery makes it light up.
