[Q] screen protector - Asus ZenWatch

Hi,
I'm gonna get a zenwatch for my B-day , just want to know if a screen protector is recommended?
and any more tips are more then welcome!
Thanks!

I wouldn't bother - Gorilla glass is tough and it stays very clean.

Several have reported scratches on their glass, if you're ok with that then go without one. I use Skinomi TechSkin screen protectors on mine, they seem to work ok.

I have the XtremeGuard protector on mine. I love it

I got a zagg invisible shield for mine, and it's good. Can't tell it's on there really, which is always what I like to see. I would never use a phone or other mobile device without a screen protector, scratches drive me crazy.

The gorilla glass 3 is almost impossible to scratch. I often advise people to remove screen protectors on phones as well. Taking out my pocket knife and violently running it over the screen produces some shocked faces and instantly convinces people
Here's the science https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_40sBbpBVg

You can use ZAGG - HD Screen Protector for Asus Zenwatch. It features a scratch-resistant design that guards against damage. The screen protector allows easy interaction with your watch's touch screen.

[Q] Screen Protector, which one?

Dear,
Can anyone recomend me a good screen protector because I have bought glossy one and I am not satisfied - to much reflection and fingers on screen.
Now, I am thinking about matte screen protector, can you give opinions about this one, I have heard that with this screen is not so sensitive, it is true?
Thank you regards

I have matte as well, works like a charm
Thank you for help I have decided to buy a mat one, because now I have too much fingerprints.
Regards
I've been using ZAGG screen protectors (wet application) with my devices and I've never gone back. They're glossy, but I can live with it because a wet application allows you to apply the screen protector flawlessly without any air bubbles every time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24472222
I use ZAGG screen protectors as well. The wet application method really does work wonders to ensure there are no air bubbles or slip ups in the installation. The ZAGG screen protectors are also somewhat rubbery, so they actually PREVENT scratches, not just protect the screen in case they happen. Plus, if something does happen to them, you can just log on and request a warranty replacement for just the cost of shipping (~3.99) and receive a brand new one. I am thoroughly satisfied with ZAGG screen protectors and use them on ALL of my devices.

Do you use a screen protector sticker for your P6 ?

Does a Gorilla glass in anyway prevent scratches on the screen ? If not, what type of screen protector is best such that it doesn't take away any brightness or clarity of the screen ?

Never used screen protectors on my last P1 and my current P6. IF you're going to use any screen protectors make sure its military grade like the ones sold at zagg.com
But if its just a simple plastic protector? don't bother, it will just get scratched by normal stuff that would not scratch the gorilla glass.
:highfive:
on my old S2 I tried various screen protectors, and most were cheap rubbish, but tried a media devil magic screen one, slightly more expensive, but well worth it.
they've just released one for the P6 and just like the one I used before its excellent, perfect fit and very easy to put on, and no bubbles first time
Can't post a proper link, but google it, or you can get them on amazon.
From my reading, Gorilla glass is scratch resistant. And P6 uses the Gorilla glass 2. There is toughness test of it on youtube. But despite all that it isnt 100% scratch proof. So I would have to look for the protector. I would miss the real thing
I run through my cheapest screen protectors ever but they were pretty cheap on ebay, but it was so worse I had to put it off bcz it didn't looked nice anymore...
Now I'm without screen protector and it's much smoother surface and not have seen any scratch yet for almost a month using it and sticking it in my pockets...
But I think I will buy me another good screen protectors to be sure no scratch will come on the screen bcz I heard it will get scratches with sand and stuff...
had various device with gorilla glass before, iphone, galaxy s3 and s4 some from sony etc etc never used screen protectors of any kind and never got scratches. only thing to worry about is sand and stone. those will go trough the glass as a knife trough butter
Bought this one , yesterday :
ES3 0.6mm Premium Real Tempered Glass Film Screen Protector For Huawei Ascend P6
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321188169415?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I'll report next week , when it arrives
Well I would say the screen of P6 does not require any screen protector...because the gorilla screen it has is quite resisting one to scratches and more over the screen protector might disturb the touch experience...so not so much worries to use P6 without any screen protector...
Would screen protectors significantly help protect the screen glass during drops ?
@pvillasuso, any feedback on that purchase?

Just got a scratch, I feel depressed. It's a small one, made by something that was in my pocket, dunno what it was. - Sure hope a screen protector will hide it!

I feel you :crying:
Thankfully I got one screen protector free along with the casing I brought. So I have that for now. But i am worried about drops because if the screen breaks, it is going to cost a heck lot of money to get it replaced. So i am still wondering if a tempered glass screen protector would be full proof against that, in which case i would buy one.
I don't mind falls, my warranty will replace then. Waiting for my screen protector, coming in 2 weeks.
Zagg's InvisibleShield is now on 50% sale. Lots of other products dirt cheap too on their Cyber Monday event. http://www.zagg.com

The installation went well and Im pretty satisfied with the outcome!
No airbubbles or fingerprints visible. The installation kit that came with the protector was really helpful.

I dont beleve in scratch proof screens. they DO get scratched, especially whey you have an phone for two years. I use GhostArmour. so far so good
I use GreatShield protector and so far so good. Applies very easy and fits perfectly. Didn`t experience something to complain about. Highly recommended. :good:
ZAGG INVISIBLESHIELD this one is very good, give an extra glance to ur phone.
I use if protective screen is more protected

Screen Protector Discussion Thread

Hi everyone. I searched the forums for screen protectors, and what I found was a whole lot of threads on various screen protectors out there, but nothing centralizing these discussions. So I thought I'd create this thread.

Zagg HTC One High Def Screen Protector - Amazon
I think Zagg makes the best screen protectors, I have used them on both the HTC Droid Incredible and the HTC One. The Zagg screen protectors are not the cheapest option for screen protectors especially if you go for the ultra clear model but I think the cost is worth it, especially since zagg offers warranty replacements, you only pay for shipping. With the warranty replacements, registering your product on the Zagg website is quick and easy, there are no serial numbers you need to have or anything, you only need to tell them what device you got it for and which model screen protector you got.
Another benefit of the zagg shields is the lifetime of the screen protector, in my experience the screen protectors lasted almost 2 years for my Droid Incredible before I replaced it, the screen protector started to come off around the edges of my phone. While the screen protectors do age, I would much prefer the aged screen protector opposed to any damage to my screen. In my entire life of my Droid Incredible, bought in April 2010 and still used as an e-reader by my girlfriend today, there is not one scratch on the screen thanks to the Zagg shield.
While I have not personally tried the Verizon 3 pack of screen protectors, I have had friends use them and they were disappointed with the quality of them, the biggest issue was having the screen protector stay on.
Zagg screen protectors have done such a great job in my opinion I have not wanted or even thought of trying another brand.
As for tips to putting the Zagg brand on, make sure you wash your hands before you do anything, clean the screen so their is no oil, fingerprints, dust or anything else on the phone, make sure the spray gets on both the screen protector and the screen but do not soak either, just enough spray to cover the phone and protector. I found it best when applying the screen protector to start at the top of the screen in one of the corners and work your way to the opposite top corner then work your way down, make sure to use the applying tool they put in the packaging, be sure to use a good amount of force when use the tool but be careful not to apply too much pressure and crack the screen.
If you do not want to try putting the screen protector on yourself, you can go to the Cell Phone employees at Best Buy and have them put the screen protector on. You do not need to purchase the protector from Best Buy, but they charge you a fee to do it. The major benefit of this is that if they screw up and ruin your protector they will replace it.
I tried the Verizon 3-pack when initially purchasing the one. While they are decent, I knew I wanted something a little more rugged.
I did some research and ended up settling on the Mime USA Feather lite tempered glass screen protector. It's super thin and flexes nicely when unboxed, so it's highly unlikely to actually shatter like other tempered glass protectors. It's extremely scratch resistent. I tested car keys, nails, and knives on the screen protector after applying it to the phone and absolutely no marks showed up. It fits perfectly to the parameters of the screen and is hardly noticable after application. I would highly recommend this product. I ordered it from the Mime USA website for about $28, they even threw in a code for free shipping!

I usually don't use screen protectors and whenever I put on a case, I take it off an hour later. I've had the phone for like 9 months now and the screen is fine. There are tiny little scratches but you can't notice them unless you try really hard to, they don't affect the clarity of the screen in any way. I just don't like using screen protectors because they attract finger prints and smudges so easily even when I try a more expensinve screen protector. Honestly the screen will be fine for a long time. Yes there will be extremely tiny scratches but you won't care because they're almost non-existant. But one thing to keep in mind though, is that sand is crazy harsh on the screens, so I'm extra careful when I go to the beach with my phone. That's when I suggest putting on a case and a screen protector. Because even if a tiny bit of sand getes in your pocket, it might cause a little damage. Right now my phone is brand new since I got it replaced because of a camera issue, and I just can't get myself to stick with putting on a case or screen protector, I had a screen protector on it but I took it off 2 weeks later because I miss the naked screen.

Reviews go with what you said. I think when I buy my next screen protector when my zagg wears down, I'm going to try one of these.
i'm using an invisible shield screen protector. Went on pretty easy, there were no bubbles, and it's pretty thick. I've only had it on for a week, so I can't say much about durability, but it's pretty good as far as a screen protector goes. I'm still very partial to those matte finish screen protectors, so i'll probably be picking up one of those in the future.

Got a MIME Feather myself about a month ago or so now, and I must say that it's the best choice I've ever made as far as screen protection. I'd had a Spigen and some other tempered glass brand, but they were both just too thick and noticeable on the screen. The Feather is perfect because it's hard to even tell it's on there, plus it has the Oleophobic coating to prevent smudges and fingerprints. Seriously, don't even waste your money on another screen protector. You can't beat the MIME Feather.

+1 what he said, minus the experience with Spigen. The MIME Feather is the first glass screen protector I've tried, and I don't think I'll ever use anything else. It's superb and well worth the premium price. With that on the screen and a Ballistic Shell Gel case on the rest of the phone, I don't worry about it too much.
I got a EBay $6.99, Chinese made, 0.4mm thick tempered glass screen protector a few weeks ago.
Went on really well, no bubbles and sticking down along all edges and corners. Has the beveled edges on the glass so no sharp edges.
Far better than ANY plastic one i have used on any phone. Touchscreen works well with it on.
Actually hard to notice now its on unless you run your finger from the speaker onto the screen , so the REALLY thin ones must be pretty close to invisible.
I polish up the screen every 2-3 days. Does get prints on it, so maybe the expensive ones have a better oleophobic coating??
For the price, most excellent.

so it's basically putting another layer of glass on top of your screen? Like putting a slide cover on a microscope slide? I wonder if that'll make screen touching a little imprecise (or any more than having a screen protector.

Its definitely putting another layer of glass on the screen. You have to be careful and get it in the right position 1st time as they dont move around once stuck down. Removing them without breaking is, i suspect, very difficult. The "tape hinge" method of application works pretty well.
I have found the touch sensitivity on mine to be great. Certainly there is no difference to the "usability" of the phone, and the smoothness an feel is as good as the original screen.
I did read one review where the buttons on screen wouldn't work with a glass screen protector, but that has certainly NOT been my experience. From what i have read the thickness of these has come down from around 0.6mm in early incarnations to something like 0.15mm and being flexible in some brands.
I got a 0.4mm one. No scratches as yet. Its supposed to be very hard (9H??). I had no issues with fitting my case on after installing the screen protector.. Its a cheap silicone and hardback model that provides good corner protection. Hopefully the screen protector will help if it falls on its face sometime.
What about Just Like Glass?
Has anyone tried it?
Didnt know protectors like the Mime feather existed. Will have to try it out.

Just bought my first one a month ago (MIME Ghost), best screen protector I have ever used. It's definitely scratch resistant and feels like the original screen. Not sure how it will hold up to drops, but that's not something I am willing to test.
Had a friend buy some Write Guard screen protectors for his HTC One. I installed one on his HTC One. Screen protector was all ready getting all kinds of scratches in it. No Bueno.
I used the XtremeGuard screen protector for a very long time on my HTC One, but recently I decided I wanted a matte finish screen protector, so I switched to Tech Armor Anti-Glare. Feels much nicer to me and gets a lot less fingerprints and smudges.
I was using the protector that came with the UG case. After reading this thread, I picked up a MIME. Very impressed. It goes on dry, was easy to remove and reposition and left absolutly no bubles (these drive me CRAZY). It has somewhat finger print resistant and I did not heave to deal with wetting the protector, then waiting 24 hours to see if all the bubles went away. Best screen protector I have purchased and believe me, I have tried at least 20 different types over the years.
I have had no issues with the touch sensitivity. You can't even notice it's on unless you look really closely at the top edge.
Using the screen protector that came with my otterbox comuter and it is quite terrible.
The screen protector has been on since April and it is already deteriorating. The spots where I'd swype, type show heavy signs of use. With a faint finger swipe over the screen you can actually feel the difference.
Other than that, the actual performance isn't the worst. Glare and all in the sun is bad, indoors though I don't have any issues.
Will look into MIME.
Cheers,

[Q] Anyone using screen protector on the tablet? or prefer naked style?

It appears to be personal taste: to have a screen protector on or not on the Samsung galaxy tab pro 8.4.
Well here's my view:
When I received my tablet I order a screen protector on amazon, armorshield, that would be delivered in 2 days.
In those 2 days i was experimenting with the tablet, and testing the screen sensibility and so on.
After Install the screen protector, and having it on for a week, i think Im gonna remove it.
It does give a layer of protection, but
gives more smudges on the screen, if not installed perfectly you can see the orange peel effect, or minuscule bubbles.
what you guys think?
do you you any protection at all ?
(tpu case, screen protector, folder, or naked)
I don't think you need it for a tablet and especially if you have a case for it. The only time I would have a screen protecter is on phones where I put it in my pocket all the time where I would have keys, loose change and other hard objects that rubs against the screen.

Agreed. I never even considered it for a tablet. And I personally refuse to put one on my phone.

Never liked them and don't use them for anything. I did use a case which I never have but use that for the ability to use the stand.
I used to use the tempered glass screen protectors on all my phones until recently. I purchased and applied the illumishield on my tab 8.4 and it works good. No screen clarity degrade or no sensitivity issue. The illumishield doesn't smudge as well as Spigen or Skinomi that I used in the past.
I have a screen protector on mine. A matte one that is finger print resistant.

Everything looks good to me. I just went on AMazon and searched matte tab pro 8.4
I'm using protectors only for my mobile phones. My phone several falls on the ground on display side and the protector saved it. My friends have same experience, but he doesnt used protector and every time his mobile phone falls, he had broken display. On my tab pro i don't have any screen protector. I always have my tab in cover, so i don't think i can scratch display by hand. So for me is screen protector for tablets useless, but it depends how you use your tab.
Mobiles phones ever , Tablets never :good:
no screen protector nor any case for any of my tablet.
not even for phone. But carry phone in a leather case on belt
Only reason I installed a screen protector on mine was because the touchscreen is too sensitive without one. Every so often when I'm scrolling through something it ends up registering as a click. After installing the screen protector there's less of that happening.
Just take it slow when installing it and squeegee out all the air bubbles. On mine you can't even tell there's a screen protector.
But if you don't have any sensitivity issues, imo there's really no need for a screen protector. It's more likely the glass screen shatters or cracks from being dropped then to ever be scratched....

[q] do screen protector really necessary ?

How many of your guys aren't using protection on the Sw3 ? do the sony smartwatch 3 screen really can handle life throws at it ?

On my 4th attempt I managed to get a skinomi skin on my watch perfectly! You can't even tell that it is there Also I think it was more my ineptitude that made it take 4 attempts rather than any deficiency with the skinomi protector itself.
I've had mine for a few months now without a screen protector and thank God I don't have any scratches. Also I can't say that I've been especially careful, so I'd say that it can handle normal usage without damage.
I've come from a Samsung Gear Live which has a very hard glass screen and it didn't scratch in 9 months. The screen of the SW3 feels plasticky. Is it supposed to be gorilla glass or anything like that?
It is supposed to be gorilla glass, but people have said it scratches easy. I have not scratched mine in about a month and a half of regular usage. I will end up getting a protector eventually.
I normally despise screen protectors but since the watch is more prone to being knocked I went with a skinomi one. Installation was seamless, wet application rocks. Can't tell it's there.
I had a wooden chair fall on my wrist. The chair splintered on the corner of the screen, but the screen was fine.
Watch. 1
Chair. 0
IIRC, its not gorilla glass
I think screen protector is really necessary. I am also using screen protector on my watch too. I am using ArmorSuit MilitaryShield - Sony SmartWatch 3 Screen Protector. You can get it from Amazon on relatively low price.
