[Q] tablet shuts down randomly - wont turn on - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

something has happened to my TAB S. It has started shutting down randomly after you leave it idle for a few minutes. I cant turn it on again until battery is full drained.
is there any app that you can set so the tablet never power down? I found 10 minutes max in the display settings.

Automatic Wakeup on plug or unplug

The A100 wakes automatically from sleep whenever it is either plugged-in or unplugged from its charger.
I would like to disable this silly behaviour if possible.
My wife learned the hard way. Prior to leaving on an overnight trip, she plugged in her tablet with its folio case closed. When the power button changed from orange to blue, she unplugged her tablet and threw it into her purse, not realizing it was awake all the time. When, several hours later she took out her A100 to use it, it was dead.
What would it take to disable the auto-wakeup? Is there a config file that could be hacked by the root user? Or would it take a complete new firmware?
In this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288306, they're discussing the same issue but with the A500, still it could be of help.
Ok, I'm having the same issue and I tried almost everything possible except rooting and using a different rom (I just don't want to). But, I found a work around at least for the the screen to stay off by installing Wake Lock - PowerManager. Now, the device won't go into sleep and the cpu will be on all the time.
I installed the app in my A100 and selected the first option, then pressed the power button and the screen stayed off during all night until I turned it on again by pressing the power button again. Of course the battery was on 25% from its aprox 86% I left it before me going to bed, at least 9 hours passed when I waked up on the morning and turned the screen on.
Then I charged the device completely and started to listen to music with my Koss UR40(I mention which headphone as a consumption variable) and activated the app, turned off the screen and aprox 1 hours later only 10% of battery was consumed.
Notes:
Music app I used: Folder Player
Airplane Mode: ON
Hope the info is of any help!
Try tasker app to cofigure the behavior of a100 when you plug it out.

My phone randomly turns off and won't turn for 30 minutes or more at a time.

This started happening 3 days ago. When I use my phone continuously and then put it to sleep and don't use it for like 30 minutes it turns off ( the battery is not dead) it has happened twice already. My phone randomly turns off and when I hold the power button for minutes it doesn't turn back on. It just some how turns back on itself.

are you sure it's not an app locking your phone? Juicedefender + "smart" wifi location?
Tried resetting your phone?

[Q] One x auto shutdown

I am experiencing this issue since the last two days, the cell would turn off automatically without any warning and will not turn on or charge for some time which can be a few seconds to hours. Here are my observations :
1. The phone will turn off when its screen is off. I have tried charging with the screen on for 2 hours and it didnt turn off as soon as i took off and put it on stand by it turned off again in a few minutes
2. Firstly the cell will not turn on neither will it charge once it shuts itself down, but when it does turn on it will display htc logo then turn off again. you will have to try turning it on a couple of times till it finally turns on. After turning on the phone will again shut down in matter of minutes. also date and time will be reset.
I have tried factory reset but didnt work out. Also vol button + power button combo doesnt work when the phone is not turning on. I have checked fourms but none of the described methods seem to work.
Any clue what might be causing it and how can it be solved. Thank You

Stock Tab S 10.5 won't turn on, then stuck on logo screen

I just received a used Tab S 10.5 from a reputable Ebay supplier. It didn't turn on initially so I plugged in the charger and it showed a solid gray battery icon with a solid white lightning bolt. I assume that means it's fully charged. Still wouldn't turn on with the power button so I tried holding the power and volume buttons together. I'd get a short vibration after 6 or 7 seconds and the battery icon would go off but it wouldn't start. I finally got it to start (not sure what I did differently) but now it has been stuck on the Samsung Tab S opening screen for several minutes. I tried turning it off with the power button but holding it down for about 10 seconds had no effect so I let it go and the logo screen stayed on.
Before I contact the supplier for a refund or exchange I would like to know a few things. Are the Samsung Galaxy Tabs finicky about turning on? Any known issues with power buttons? What's the proper procedure with the power button alone doesn't work? I've seen both power + volume down and power + volume up.
Update 30 min after original post: my assumption about the battery icon was incorrect. I tried turning it on again it worked and the battery showed 3%. I started the setup but just connecting to my network drained the battery down to 0% (even though it's plugged into the charger) so it shut off. At least I know now I'll have to wait a few hours.

Since the issue has been resolved (and was due to inadequate information on my part rather than a problem with the tablet), I am asking the moderator to remove this thread.

Charging staying on and always on display stopped after Oct update

After the Oct update, my phone know "stops" charging after reaching 100%. My screen saver is set to run when on charger, so it stops also. Went to Always on display, turned it on, keeps turning itself off. won't hold changes. I back out, and says on, then phone goes to lock screen, then black. Open again and it's off.
Any others or tips?

Charging always stops when it reaches 100% otherwise it would damage the battery / cause a fire
OK, I can see that, but my screen saver always stayed on before, now the screen saver goes off when fully charged. And no always on display??? Figure I'd turn that on and won't hold selection for on.
