Audio call fix

Can you explain what this does exactly? I have needed to install your mod for every CM nightly, and also for Blisspop on my e980 running on tmobile. Just curious what it does, in case your patch file stops working for new version.
Thanks again!!

I think it changes at least these 2 options in /system/build.prop file
1. persist.audio.dualmic.config, from 'endfire' to 'false'
2. persist.audio.handset.mic.type, from 'digital' to 'analog'
You can change these values yourself with the prop.mod editor, but you also have to change these values every time you update or install the ROM. The dangnavy script also changes some other values, but the two I've mentioned are the ones that effect the in-call phone mic volume. I got these solutions from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709781

thank you hawkwind!! Yea I was curious because in roms like CM, Blisspop, or even slimLP there is no mention to needing anything after installing the ROM to make the sound work during calls. However I always have to install this patch to make it work so it leads me to wonder what is different about my e980 that causes me to have issues that no one else seems to bring up lol .

In the earlier version of the blisspop, the dev had changed the values in the build.prop file so the users would not needed to do so them selves. Since this was such an old issue according to that posting, perhaps dev thought that it was no longer necessary to change those two values.

Hi I'm using stock g4 ux4.0 lollipop g pro v12 final rom and during phone calls I have to use headphones whit mic because there is no sound without them . Will this fix work for me?

It may, though I think with the ROM you're using there is a patch for the sound issue, check the dev's thread first. Otherwise try the solution we've discussed here with prop.mod editor anyway, since it will not harm your device even if, it doesn't fix your problem. Just remember to reboot the phone once you're done with changing the values.

If changing these doesn't affect other variants (E985/6/9 and even F240x), I'd be glad to change them in my device tree.

A good old saying, if it's not broken, no need to fix it. These changes only work for e980 with at&t in USA. If the provider is t_mobile, that's another matter. I don't think other ogp variants have this phone Mic issue. Like I've said, this is an old topic, I'm surprise that so many people are still asking about it.

Couldn't agree more. Since this is variant specific thing, I won't change anything... I've put an info about that in Slim's thread, but it looks like people really don't like reading.

[m7][SENSE]Disable Noise Suppression on HTC ONE!

I haven't seen any thread which disables the noise suppresion on HTC one hence i made this mod. On M7 by default the Noise suppression is enabled and when we move the phone at certain angles, the other party wont hear anything what we talk. This mod disables the Noise suppression. Mod is well tested on insertcoin sense ROM[4.22] and it works flawless but again it is only me who tested it.
I am attaching a flashable zip for testing purposes! Download the attachment and flash through recovery. There is no need to wipe anything! Incase if you want to revert to stock, i have also included the stock file at downloads!
NOTE: At present this mod is only for deodexed roms! After positive feedback, I will make the mod for odexed also along with guide. Dont try on any other variants as i have not tested.
Download
Modded File - 4.4.2 (Sense 5.5) deodexed
Revert to Stock File - 4.4.2 (Sense 5.5) deodexed
Modded File - 4.4 (Sense 5.5) deodexed with call recording support
Revert to Stock File - 4.4 (Sense 5.5) deodexed
Modded File - 4.3 (Sense 5.0) deodexed with call recording support
Modded File - 4.2.2 deodexed
Revert to stock - 4.2.2 deodexed
Feel Helped, Press Thanks!

Working on InsertCoin 3.0-14. Thank you.

holy crap....This is so awesome!! BY FAR, the biggest complaint I have on this phone.
EVERY time i talk with my phone held to my shoulder, my fiance whines about not being able to hear me. Granted, she just bought an iphone 5 and hers does the same thing when talking to me.
I just switched to a 4.3 google Play edition rom last night....is the noise suppression enabled on these rom's or only on Sense?

Glad that you liked it. I was facing the same problem and thats the reason i made this mod. I am not really sure about noise suppression on GE as i am not a big fan of that and never used it. Hope someone drops a feedback here!
I have definitely noticed the noise suppression problem using the GPE 4.3 rom's......have considered flashing this, but was hoping for some other guinea pigs to chime in first!

appreciate it thanks, but not sure if anything can be done, this issue has been around for a while on all bases and ROMs ( I have no popping or crack listening to music or watching videos only during phone calls there is the occasional pop or crackle in my ear during the call) so not sure if it can be fixed, but if you need info just search for HTC One popping crackle sounds and you'll find numerous links. It seems some say its the beats app causing it or NFC but even if I disable both its still there, others say its the sound amplifier causing it, or the noise cancellation etc. so its a bit difficultto say exactly what the cause is or how to fix (if possible), Again thanks

this was a case similar to samsung phone where you hear knocking sounds while on call but it got rectified by disabling the noise suppression. I did hear sometimes and did not find time to check in the code. But i am sure, it should be with noise suppression. Actually in the code, i did not modify the noise suppression fully and sometimes it will come back. All i did was passed on the false boolean value prior to start a call. And there is a code for restoring the nosie suppression in case if it is disabled. I will disable it fully and then check.

Hello sir, thanks for this attempt to fix some annoying stuff.
Have you noticed any negative side-effects though?
I remember when noise cancellation first came out for mobile phones quite some years ago, it was a big thing and many article on the news was covering it and how it worked. Then it became standard.
Now it's becoming a problem... I wonder if HTC maybe needs to fix the algorithm rather than us disabling it?
Anyway, I haven't had an issue yet, so I'm not sure I'm a good tester. Might report back after trying it out for a bit.
Thanks again!

I did not face any problem to be honest and been using the mod since the day one. I disabled the noise suppression completely yesterday and still testing and so far i have not faced any problems though. I dont know what side affects it might bring, except you will hear some background noise..thats all.

Sounds good. Feel like putting that modification into the phone.apk of ViperOne?
I think we have a fair share of modifications or at least theming in it and so I can't really use/test it (I figured last night).
If you want to do it I can pull the files for you or you download the full ROM. Let me know...

Yea fine. No worries. The guide part suggests you will keep this free to use for everyone? I am hoping this to be a future Viper Tweak which could be toggled on/off but since you found this method, it's probably yours. Well, if Jan and Turge do consider it, they will contact you on the matter anyway.
Just as a note for potential ViperOne users passing by:
ViperOne 2.1.0.0 phone.apk is not modified and this mod will be no problem to flash, also the back-to-stock zip.
ViperOne 2.1.0.0 with Red Theme or DarkOne Theme phone.apk is themed and if you flash this mod and/or revert back to stock, it will still function but you will lose theming on that apk.
This is what @j to the 4n told me this morning. Hope i repeated it correctly.

How to get 9005 ROMS working on TMOBILE GN3

It looks like it has gotten much easier to get BLUE TOOTH and WIFI working when you flash roms originally made for 9005 GN3 on a TMOBILE GN3.
First Step is go over and dowload the Bluetooth fix posted in the Stainless ROM in TMOBILE ANDROID DEVELOPMENT Forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2499593 Make sure you click thanks on the Dev who made this possible! MISCOM did a real service when she came up with this fix....
Step Two - flash the 9005 ROM of your choice (I have done this for both BOB CAT and OMEGA ROMS)
Step 3 - Flash ROM -
STEP FOUR Flash BLUE TOOTH FIX
Step Five - Flash TMOBILE KERNEL - I flashed Compulsive Ultimate 5.0 - don't know if it is absolutely necessary to this entire fix, but that is what I did anyway ....
Step 6 REBOOT
Step 7 Say thanks to the DEV who created the BLUE TOOTH FIX
GOOD LUCK
Whatever you do - make sure you give thanks to the DEV who created the BLUETOOTH FIX

I agree. The various varients (International and Tmobile anyway) phones are so similar - nearly the exact same phone, right? The only difference that I know of is the radio and the modem software - right? - but on the S4 - it was virtually possible to flash any International ROM on both ATT and TMOBILE phones even some kernels were interchangeable - hopefully, someone with a lot more brains than I have will come up with a quick and easy solution - we are so close.....fingers crossed....
@mocsab , thanks for opening this thread... Very valuable information
Hopefully the bluetooth issue gets sorted out too
thanks been wanting to get a international rom on this for awhile!
Damn you beat me to it lol i was just going to try this myself since i used to port n7100 note 2 roms to the att note 2, ill see about bluetooth
hmm wonder if same method for note 2 will work for borked bluetooth on note 3

To be honest, I don't recall - during the week I have to come back to my DD because of my travels for work and the need for blue tooth - but when I get a chance I will restore my nandroid of this rom and see -come to think of it, maybe not - which is why I always keep WIFI Explorer on my phone so I can hook up via wifi if needed. but just to be sure,I will check and get back to you.
Sure hope someone finds a BLUE TOOTH FIX sometime SOON!

Well I've tried quite a few things, flashing omega as it is actually still boots up but everything like wifi, bt and nfc still do not work. I then added the wifi folder and bt folder in the omega zip before flashing that fixed the wifi issue but still no bt or nfc. Someone in the omega thread actually made a zip with kernel and wifi fix but still bt issues and nfc. I might have to ask some other devs with higher knowledge see what they think. I've even added all lib files from a tmob rom and still nada. I'm beginning to think it's something with kernels and drivers.

Your dancing on a floor reserved for people with much greater skills than me - I really appreciate your efforts and hope soon that you and or any of the DEVS are able to come up with something that will open the door to the International ROMS - We don't have nearly enough variety yet on TOMBILE (I know, patience grasshopper, it will come) but just the same -Omega and a few others are really quite special.
Fingers crossed and thanks again
Hi everyone. I have had success with this on the XNote ROM. However, I only replaced the wifi folder and didn't bother to edit build.prop. Can anyone advise regarding the build.prop tweak. What's the purpose of it? Should I bother or leave it as is?

No BT or NFC. Don't really use NFC. Used BT daily with headset on Note2. Learning to live without it for the while...
So I edited the build.prop...first thing after reboot I got a message saying that my Wifi connection was unstable. The connection then dropped. I had to reconnect and re-enter my wifi passkey...strange.
Since then (which is only like 20 mins) I have remained connected without a problem.
Is there possibly another field that has to be modified in the build.prop to enable Bluetooth and NFC?
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
To be honest, I didn't figure this out myself. I just looked at someone else's script. I've found that copying the wifi folder is all that's required. I was wrong about the build prop edits. Still no NFC or Bluetooth yet. I'm sure someone will figure this out, and we'll have interoperability among variants soon.

Isn't that a kernel issue? I think there is not yet a compatible kernel that works with Inter. ROMS on TMO devices.
I think we need to try it with cwm guys, someone mentioned everything works for him on his N900W8 note 3 but he uses chenglu cwm. ill give it a go in 2 min. Funny thing also I gave chenglu the stock recovery for N900W8 lol if its because of recovery ill personally be suprised, but doughtfull

EDIT: Yeah ignore all that, still same issues even with CWM. I think the person doesn't really know what hes looking for that says everything is working :/

Known ROMs with working phone mic?

Are there any known 4.3 or 4.4 ROMs with working phone mic?
I've used CM 10.2 Stable (4.3) and Carbon Rom (4.4.2). Both work great, the only issue is that the headset is not usable for calls (low mic output). My solution for now is using the earbud/mic, but I'm curious to know if anyone has made progress on this. Aside from this, the various ROMs are near perfect for my needs.
I'm not very knowledgeable on the details of writing ROMs, but would any type of source code release from LG help developers solve this? Curious to know what the main hurdles are for the devs and what tools they need.
Thanks.
Wish I could tell ya but I don't have a headset with a mic. I'd say give AICP a try since it uses AOKP sources instead of CM. Might give ya a better outcome.

Still no luck on a solid working phone microphone (low volume on other end). And the search continues.
Now that mid March has come around, has anyone had any good luck with a working in call microphone?
I was previously using several 4.4.2 Builds however, the need for a working phone mic was too critical for daily usage.
I'm using a 4.3 build (Slim Bean) which I believe is the only one with a working phone. The build is an unofficial beta and the only real issues are lack of microSD function, FC on Google Drive, and a few freezes here and there. Overall it's usable for my needs but would like to get back onto 4.4.2 granted the phone mic works.
Any suggestions/advice would be great. Thanks!

Here is a manual fix for the in call mic from JustinNL on XDA:
Step 1:
download a "build.prop editor app", I used: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor
Step 2:
Modify these 2 specs in the build prop editor
persist.audio.handset.mic.type=digital --> replace digital with analog
persist.audio.dualmic.config=endfire -- replace endfire with false
Since i changed it i haven't had any complaints so far but flashing to new nightly makes it revert again, keep that in mind."
Been working great for myself and others.

How come sprint is the most bland carrier?

Ive had many sprint phone's however I've had 2 cell phone models that I've rooted ever since i found it about it. An lg g3
And the one I'm posting with right now: s6
Ive noticed that for both (moreso with samsung) there is never really interesting mods or any real rom selection etc . How come this is? What's up with sprint specifically that makes it so difficult to customize/modify their devices? Im not *****ing or anything is just an observation . For instance there are tons of roms that include a lot of things I'd like on my phone but they are all compatible with every carrier other than sprint. Anyway of anyone had an answer or a path to lead me to ... that'd be cool. Hell, you can call me a dickhead and ill be happy

For starters there isn't as many devs for Sprint phones as there is for other carriers. Further more, Sprint is CDMA so making unlock mods like we did for the G3 is far harder. Not to mention just developing for Samsung in General is harder as they have more Anti-Root protection then say LG or HTC. We are currently working as hard as possible to bring cool mods and tweaks to this device... Sorry for the wait though

Also, don't forget there are oodles of Xposed modules you can use. I personally believe that is the main reason there aren't many mods/ROMs. I personally stopped developing ROMs because of this. Instead, I debloat and smali edit my own device to my liking, then write my own module to add the features I like. Before, I used to do smali edits, and make everything relate to one another. So users could add their own features, or choose the ones I built in. Nowadays, you can just install and uninstall the xposed modules you want. A lot easier for us developers. I also think android in general is getting more user friendly. They now have "theme stores" for users to apply a theme without root. I'm not sure what kind of "mods" you would be looking for that isn't already done via xposed or something else, but theming always seemed to be the biggest hit. I personally just theme my launcher.
However, there are some features from the S6 Edge I would like to have, so I downloaded the S6 edge ROM and may port it to our device.
TLDR: To simply answer your concern, I don't think development isn't there. I think its just easier for people to use xposed then fully mod an entire ROM and make the installer zip and everything like that for it.

Ahh that makes sense I need to go back thru xposed more thoroughly and how would i go about creating a module? That seems like something i would be interested in. And as far as mods go , im the type that ,even though I'm impressed with what i have i haveban insatiable need to make it one click better ( similar to the custom marshall stacks in the movie spinal tap that the volume dial went up to 11 instead of the standard 10, lol idk if you seen the movie or not) but mainly id like to modify the camera to a higher resolution and possibly include the ability to leave the shutter open as long as i want , those are just a couple of mods i would love to have haha i know I'm asking for an impossibility but those are the kind of ideas i come up with i just have no clue how to create such madness haha

I too want better quality from the camera. I believe that is needed by a kernel mod, or a .SO mod. The latter of the two is harder. But I want better slow mo quality, should be able to adjust bitrate, and maybe hopefully fps. But having the shutter open as long as you want, I like that idea! I may see what I can do. You can easily make the volume go to 11 instead of 10, but you won't get a volume boost. What I personally do, is use the mixer_paths.xml to boost the volume, then add more volume steps. On my S5 I had 20 volume steps for everything, and it worked great. Allowed for more minute adjustments, but still get the volume boost from the mixer_paths.xml.
About creating an xposed module, just look it up on the forums. Plus there are YouTube guides which tell you step by step how to do it. You do need to know Java coding though. Its extremely easy to learn though.

And I personally think I am very good with xposed and smali reading. I used to make ALL my mods through smali alone. I even wrote a "smali coder" that would translate java into smali without compiling anything. That tool though has long since been lost as well as its source code since I don't use it anymore. I now use Virtous Ten Studio for smali work cause of being able to link condition statements and stuff. Its got flaws, but it works. I will probably end up writing my own that way it does everything I would like it too.

We do, it's a CSC tweak, but you can only add tweaks like that if you freshly flash a ROM. If we have xposed, you can add it anytime without having to reinstall.
Come to think of it, could you do something like XTouchWiz?

I can. I have something very similar already do my own personal setup. But if you compile a list of things you'd like, I'm sure I could figure it out.

It does, I just like the tweaks in it, I think it'll be a good base then we can make a specialized tweak for this device.

Custom 7.0 ROM for the Galaxy s6 edge Plus!

This device may be a few years old, but its still great. Support for it has almost disappeared, but there are still people out there like me that are on this device that can't/won't upgrade for one reason or another. Sure, Superstock is a great ROM, but lollipop is outdated, and having the features of custom ROMS but on a newer base would be freaking great. I am right?
I may have missed them, but as far as I could find on XDA, I couldnt find any nougat custom ROMs for this device. I would super excited to petition for one of the awesome developers out there to make a new ROM, even if it might be the last for this phone. Or maybe there is one, and I have just been much to dense to see it. Let this thread be for all posts related to the development of a custom Nougat rom, or sharing of one that already exists. Thanks everyone for reading and participating!
EDIT: SM-G928T is the model number, just in case it isn't implied
"petition for one of the awesome developers out there to make a new ROM"
Wow... no need to do that buddy..
I'll save you the headache, hassle and lynching..
Check this out.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus
Heads up, read thru the thread carefully, many of these ROMs will require the "T-Mobile audio fix" to get in call audio, that is if you have the T-Mobile variant (G928T). You can search for the fix..
We can run Note 5 ROMs too, check out the TMo N5 or the Int'l forums, like I mentioned, above.

Thanks for the response. I had no idea we could run international ROMs on variant devices. I am having the issue you mentioned, though, with the call audio. So far ive tried two roms, flashed the fix, without any change. Ideas as to how i might get that working?
There is a audio fix on the T mobile Galaxy Note 5 page, it worked for me using Dr Ketan's rom

I do know that theres a few different "audio fixes" available. Im thinking they differ bcuz of the Android version? Just a guess, but what I'll do, is, I'll use only Roms that another 928T user already reported their success using it. I dont want to waste my time and effort being the guinea pig and then, for it not to work. Usually, whomever confirmed compatibility, will also list anything thats needed additionally to get it running, like the audio fix, along with link(s) to get it. If it doesn't work, they'll usually state the issues they found. Someone else's issue with it, might not be relevant to another person so they may decide to run it.
The best way to do this is to simply go to the OP of the Rom thread, in the upper right corner, you'll see a "search" option/box, (depending on browser or app, might see 3 dots instead, its a drop down list) click on it and enter our phone model, "928T, 928-T" or "T-Mobile, Tmobile, TMO " I try to cover the different variations, others here use to identify the phone. Seems like the search function, searches only the exact characters, as entered in the box, doubting it can identify and include similar known ones, so rather be thorough and not miss something. It searches your entry only in that particular thread and lists the results.
If you're braver than I, and dont mind going where no other TMO'rs have gone before and found only the in call audio isnt working, then its likely, flashing the audio fix is all thats needed.
The best way to solve this is, again, with a simple search. This time I'd recommend, a broader search using Google's search engine, type "XDA T-Mobile audio fix," bcuz this will search all XDA forums, more importantly, both S6 E+ and N5, carrier and int'l forums all at once. Then just go down the list if results, making sure that youre in either of the 4 forums, above, locating the download. Last I checked there was 3 or so fixes available, this was many months ago though. Anyway, having more isnt a bad thing, less would mean needing to go back and finding the one you missed. Once you have them, flash each one seperately, in recovery, reboot, confirm whether you're issue is fixed or not. If not, then continue these steps till it works. Flashing the audio fix won't mess your phone up. No need to reset, clear cache or anything of the sort, between each audio fix, just flash only the audio fix and rebooting is necessary. If you want to be organized, you can cross reference the dates of each audio fix, with the current firmware available at the time. That way you can flash any Rom you desire and will already have the fix ready.
Wow, my apologies, talk about rambling on about nothing more than finding correct file, flash your device, confirm its fixed, if not then repeat till its fixed. If no fix is found then, Rom isnt compatible...
Sorry, one last thing, Im sure that you'll help many others like yourself, if you had minute to post your experience with whichever Rom(s), you chose.
For example, "Rom works great, needed this (link to audio fix) for in call audio on the TMO variant"
It seems like you're the first 928T to try the Rom you have so,
report your experience, posts are permanent, its there forever, for any curious new comers, you'd be their hero! It'd most def get a "thx" from me.. :good:

Found a few ROMs that work without fixes and run nougat. Khongloi's s8 port works and has some of the best features I've ever had on this phone, but is heavy on the battery. AndroidSword's NFuel XL runs fast and light, but doesn't have edge features. The original NFuel also has full support for 928T, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm also working on my own custom ROM now since every ROM I tried was missing something I wanted.

Thanks for the info. My S8 has kicked the bucket, and so I'm back on my S6 for the time being and want to give it a bit of a refresh. I'll look up those NFUEL ROMs.

I've just finished cooking a second version of my custom rom. Haven't had any issues so far. It's Called TrueStockN.
Here's a list of ROMs I was able to get working for the G928T:
Khongloi's s8 Port
Nemesis s7 Port
N-Fuel
TrueStockN
These are just Nougat roms I that worked for me off the bat, no additional audio fix required. Of course, there may be more, but these are the ones I know of and have used extensively.
