[q] recovery can't mount sd-card - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear All,
I have run into a issue with my HTC Desire Bravo. I had to replace the Main Flex Cable Ribbon since the Volume control was not working. After the replacement now my Desire no longer boots. I tried erasing from recovery & realised that my SD card no longer mounts.
I tried using the process # 13 found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
However I am unable to get the device recognised on my LapTop.
After I issue the command fastboot oem enableqxdm 0, All I get is waiting for device. Device Manger shows My HTC with a exclamation mark. Tried different versions of HTC drivers found on XDA, but to no luck.
Need Help.....
Regards,
Nagesh Raghavaiah

Take the phone apart, something tells me the sdcard flex wasnt connected right. If it is connected then disconnect it then re connect it to be sure then if it still dont work then flash 4ext recovery and use the unbrick option. Click link below to install fastboot drivers and u can try that enableqxdm command aswell.

1. I took the phone apart. reconnected the Flex Cable.
2. Installed ADB and device driver from the link as suggested.
3. I boot into Fast boot using Volume down, back & power button.
4. Device Manager lists the phone as Android 1.0 with a exclamation.
5. Unable to proceed further :crying:

They are different things. Unlocking your bootloader can be done from htcdev, your phone will still be s on but unlocked so you can flash roms and root or recovery from fastboot.

I don't know, probably the guy who replaced the flex cable also replaced my sd card that had the custom rom. I did not realize that. The moment I switched on the phone it went to a boot loop. I thought of re-installing the Rom, hence wiped everything. that is when I realized that the recovery is unable to mount the sd card. Now I am stuck....

If you already have Fastboot enabled on your computer then you need to make sure Fastboot is enabled via Bootloader.
You can test this by rebooting into Bootloader, enabling Fastboot, and then typing into your console
fastboot devices
If your device shows up you are good to go.
Then reboot into system and start attn script. It works a charm!
Oh, also, make sure the proper boot image is located within your ADB environment (unless you have a global setup)
Good luck.
Did you follow this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298990
I just used it myself. The only problem I had was not putting usb in debug mode.
Once I did that it work flawlessly.
I was doing this this weekend and ran into problems because I had unlocked the bootloader using HTCdev. I was also using a long USB cable and ran into what I think was signal degradation causing some commands in that script to fail.
Once I relocked the bootloader and switched to the stock cable that came with the phone the downgrade script worked perfectly.

I ran into the same issue and relocked the bootloader with "fastboot oem lock" command and then i was able to downgrade properly. Leasson learned. Thanks everybody for their replies.
if all fails, just copy RUU...zip file to sdcard, rename to PG32IMG.zip and do upgrade. It will work without problems

I have alreay searched far and wide but all i see are " enable erase recovery and flash clockwork mod again" I have but to know avail I would be really grateful for any help (i'm a bit of a noob)

Have you flashed the recovery yet?
If not, you won't be able to make backups nor will you be able to flash ROMs.
have you tried manually booting into recovery by powering off then holding volume - and power and then selecting recovery?
i had some issues with rom manager in the past, but when i went to backup manually it seemed ok.
Yes I have I flashed CWM Recovery and have also tried rebooting into it by that method >.<

It requires doing a fastboot charging using a script.

Let it charge, (Don't be impatient) then run the RUU whilst in fastboot usb. (which you should already be in for the fastboot charging script)

[Q] Phone Not detected as usb device in android, is detected in hboot

I bought a bnib tmobile g2 off swappa the other day. I want to install a newer rom and started following the instructions to gain permaroot and install a recovery in the wiki here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
First I downgraded by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912 which worked fine.
But now my phone is no longer recognized as a usb device when I am in android, so I can't obtain adb access. After messing around a bit, changing usb cables, plugging it into different computers, etc I booted into hboot by holding down+power. When I am in hboot I can see the phone over usb and see it when I run fastboot devices. I tried flashing cwm recovery with fastboot but it didn't work.

HBOOT-0.82.000
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Sep 2 2010,17:59:38
Does anyone have any idea where I should go from here? I can't follow any of the wiki instructions without adb access. Otherwise everything on the phone seems to be working fine although I haven't transferred my sim over from old G2 so I don't know if the cell works.
I tried letting it install a system update that brought me to 1.22.531.8 but it still isn't detected as a usb device. I know that I have the correct drivers (I'm on linux anyway) because I previously used adb to downgrade the phone and I've tried several usb cables and computers.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't the issue is the phone, try to update your fastboot binaries, try another USB cable or port, try renaming the images to something simple like recovery.img or bootloader.img (don't know why but I have seen this work) or try another PC or run a virtual box

I ended up downloading visionary and put it on an sdcard, then I gained temproot and installed clockworkmod from the play store and the engineering hboot. I'll try flashing a new rom later but I should be good to go now.
That's your choice, but if you don't root with gfree method you could run into issues down the road, happens a lot on these forums.

In which case stick to your thread as opposed to jumping on to others, makes it easier to follow

Yes, if you have already started a thread asking for help, don't jump around.

What response do you get for:
fastboot devices
If it returns the device ID, than try:
fastboot erase cache
Then try to flash recovery again.
Did you by chance try to factory reset in bootloader (corrupts the internal memory on modded devices)?
when i tried fastboot devices it returns an ID
but when i tried
fastboot erase cache
******** Did you mean to fastboot format this partition?
erasing 'cache'...

Hard to help you if you do not even bother to answer all the questions posed to you. As I asked earlier:

I tried factory reset but it doesn't seem to be doing anything, just a white screen with android picture.
what do you mean by " corrupts the internal memory on modded devices?"
i tried
fastboot oem rebootRUU
but it says ...
(bootloader) [DEBUG] Cmd18 polling status timed out, MCI_STATUS: 0x4C2000
(bootloader) [DEBUG] sdcc_command: sdcc_poll_status error, rc: 2
(bootloader) [SD_HW_ERR] read data fail in CMD18
(bootloader) CMD18: cmd failed
(bootloader) [SD_HW_ERR] SD: Read data fail..
(bootloader) [ERR] partition_read_emmc(560): error 2
(bootloader) Start Verify: 3
(bootloader) [DEBUG] Cmd25 polling status timed out, MCI_STATUS: 0x4C0000
(bootloader) [DEBUG] sdcc_command: sdcc_poll_status error, rc: 2
OKAY [ 0.018s]
finished. total time: 0.018s
question, can i flash TWRP with 0p6bimg.zip?
If yes, can anyone provide the file?
Thanks

It means you should never ever do that (factory reset in bootloader) if bootloader unlocked, rooted, etc.. Only within the OS Settings or in recovery.
What this means, is that on a stock device, factory reset in bootloader works normally; but on a modded (rooted, etc.) device this corrupts the internal memory and renders it unable to be read or written to. This is probably why can't wipe cacher, install custom recovery, reboot RUU, etc (all are giving you errors reading data; and I think this is the reason why).
Connect the phone to a Windows PC (sorry if that is not what you use, its all I know) and use Device Manager to format the phone's internal memory. Once its formatted try again to wipe cache and flash custom recovery again.
This is great info to tuck away for future reference. How should the memory be formatted? FAT32 or exFAT?

How exactly does one format the phone's internal memory via Device Manager?

Couldn't actually tell you "exactly" myself as I haven't personally had to do it. But I know its been given as advice many times, and reported to work (at least for some instances of corrupted internal memory or can't mount memory).
In brief, open Device Manager, browse to the device/internal memory, and try to find the option to format FAT32.
Ok, I'm in the same pickle as person above. Let me just post the state the phone was in before everything happened. Unlocked bootloader, s-on, Android revolution HD installed (4.4.3). Friend tried to get back to stock and now the phone is stuck in hboot. Things done to phone: bootloader relocked, tried to change tampered flag without success, flashed stock recovery and boot image. Fastboot devices returns Id, storage is not recognized, adb commands do not work. I think he also tried to do factory reset while in hboot. Just stumbled upon this format memory thing, will do it once I get home. What are the steps after, can I just flash the correct ROM.zip or some moded hboot? If you can just point me in right direction I would very much appreciate it, thanks. Also if you need any additional info just ask for it
Similar problem here also,
I could really use some help guys! The new GPE 6.0 images are out on XDA. http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...uu-m8-google-play-edition-5-1-lmy470-t3226765
I did a full wipe then I put on the rom using the zip file first through TWRP and it did install but the radio drivers failed.
So I then downloaded the system img file ruu and renamed it to 0P6BIMG.zip and now it is just stuck in a loop and will not boot into the Operating system. It will just freeze at the White HTC logo.
I press the power button and the volume up button to reset the device then push the power button and volume down button to get into the bootloader the bootloader instantly selects Hboot and starts loading up the 0P6BIMG.zip. The phone then procedes to give me the highlighted HBoot option and the message "Press <POWER> to reboot." Which then reboots right into the White HTC loading screen.
The phone is unlocked and has s-on. I have tried using ADB commands but cannot get an ID with ADB devices command.
Can someone help a brotha out?
