*EDIT*
Made a boot.img as well as a system.img... you can check it out HERE. Don't get too excited... I don't have a D851 L modem I can share right now so YES the L rom will boot.. BUT GSM/LTE radio will shut off for a second every 30sec-1min. Kinda lame. Maybe there's a way around it.. I'm not sure yet... feel free to mess around. WiFi/Bluetooth/NFC and everything else is good.

Do you know if this is android 5.0.1 or is it just 5.0?

Thanks.

it will be 5.0.1.. it is still technically 5.0 like the site says.
All US carriers started off with 5.0.1.. vs Intl getting 5.0.
Intl will probably get 5.1 first tho.

Just updated my lg g3 to android 5.0.1 yesterday by using the upgrade recovery option in the Lg mobile support tool. I used this same method to get the other minor update that t mobile had a while back as well. Everything is running smoothly and i've had no problems so far.

[Update] Android L (Lollipop) and the G2

Figured I'd start a thread about Lollipop since it was officially announced today. As others (namely @KD8JBF ) have pointed out, Sprint has updated their device RDF page to mention a ZVE firmware. Will this be the update to Lollipop? Any ideas?
How do you think the G2 will handle Lollipop, and what do you think about what we've seen of Lollipop so far? Hopefully ZVE will at least fix some of the bugs in LG's firmware.

I'm up for anything that uses more WiFi. I have a damn Airave because Sprint doesn't have signal where I live, which creates a whole other cluster of problems. Wonder how long it will take for us to get it?
I honestly do try not to be negative much....but where is the "This poll is stupid and pointless" option? :-/

Lol I'll try to add that.
I believe this is the update to use the home launcher from the G3. LG stated a few months ago that they were going to update the G2/Pro/Flex to the G3 launcher and they were attempting to have them all updated by Christmas.
is this rom running smoothly with lg 980 .

This thread isn't about a ROM, it's about a software update from Sprint. If you're confusing the two, I'll answer as if you meant update when you said "ROM". If you were to update to ZVE (or update at all) and you're on CloudyG3 right now, you would have to downgrade back to a stock version of the LG LS980 firmware. You can do this using LG's FlashTool and a tutorial I put up on here awhile back. I also put up tutorial videos with links and downloads on YouTube if you search for my name " Kristi Grant". When I get on my laptop I'll post links, or click on the link in my signature.

It's still 5.02. Sprint likely found a bug in the ZVF build so the new one is ZVG.

I'm just waiting for someone to get the update, root it, and do a Stock clean TWRP Backup (before signing in).
Hopefully someone will be nice enough to do this for those of us without access to a Windows computer with the FlashTool.

That is where 5.1.1 comes about. 5.1 fixed, 5.0 leaks. But then they had leaks in 5.1 which hopefully 5.1.1 fixes
I wonder if the update will bring wifi calling to the G2 finally.
T-Mobile's LG G2 should receive a Lollipop treat starting today

[Q] Update to lolipop

Can I update to Lolipop directly instead of updating: -> 10L -> Lolipop?
If yes, what is the best way for me to update, since I'm rooted with Xposed Framework, stock bootloader
Thanks in advance!
Also would like to know.. Up*

If you are using the final build of the Android L KDZ then you'll be fine to flash it from any version as the KDZ contains all necessary files. @autoprime has confirmed on his twitter feed that this update does not implement anti-rollback so you should be fine to downgrade and Bump in the future if you want. Hope this helps!
But I'm not using the final build of Android... I'm asking if I can upgrade to lollipop, when it's officially out, instead updating to 10L and then update to Lollipop

I know that... I just wanna know if I need to do 2 updates or I can just jump to lollipop once it's officially out. I just said that I have Xposed and the rest, for you guys to tell me which is the best way to update in these conditions.

I said the Lollipop update contains all necessary files. The final KDZ is what they will push when Android L gets officially updated on your device, or a TOT or .dpkg. You will not need to update in between as you never do inbetween major system updates. If an official update ever has dependencies, it will not let you update without them so don't worry. You would be able to jump from any version you like to Android L. Like I said though, we will have a ported version of Android L long before the official update. Also, although @autoprime has confirmed the release of Android L for the D855 does not implement anti-rollback, this does not mean that other variants will not implement something to keep us from going back to previous software versions, then you may be stuck with Android L but no root or TWRP permanently. I can not emphasize enough how much I do not agree with taking any official updates if you are the slightest bit interested in root or custom roms for you phone.
Also, you only get notified if someone directly quotes a post of yours or if you mention someone by username using @ like I did for @autoprime above.
If I've helped, hit the thanks button!

If you want to update officially with the KDZ, the best option is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799647
Just use the tool and official KDZ to ensure everything is wiped and completely updated.
There is already a rooted Android L .zip ready to flash via TWRP that is available in the General G3 Development thread. Good luck with either route.
Love you.

His twitter feed Auto(utoprime) shows recent tweets where he bolded the fact that it does not implement it.
https://mobile.twitter.com/utoprime
It's a few tweets down and it specifically says the D855 20A update does not use anti-rollback.
did LG?

[Q] Stay On 4.4 Or Upgrade?

So LG announced the G3 will get updated to L soon, but i am rooted and have xposed installer on there. I use it for stuff like GEL settings and Snapchat tweaks. If i upgrade to L, will i regret it or are there alternatives to xposed?

I upgraded already to Lollipop. Before that I didnt use root or anything . I dont need it . but to be honest this first update of Lollipop is not something awesome . just some graphic enhanchements, add user function , notifications in the lockscreen ( ok thats cool ) . More Lollipop updates will follow with more awesome stuff on it . But now I dont know if it worth it for you to lose your root etc . I read somewhere though that they are working for rooting the lollipop and will be available during the day .
Go for Lollipop:
- ART vs Dalvik (much faster - 1.4 GB Ram free)
- Notification from Lockscreen
- User management
- Smoother ( 0 lag - even with facebook that needs a octa-core 5.0 Ghz CPU to send a message )
- Material Design
Also if you want to wait usually LG will land several builds in the next month with updates but for the moment its as good as it gets.
Update bro! Lollipop is amazing!!

HAHA
I would say that there is no need to upgrade to L right now. I suspect that LG wanted to get out 5.0 really quick and the LG UI is not yet ready for the material look of 5.0, so most likely another major update after this one will come in a few months. At that time I expect the LG UI will be better integrated with the feel and look of 5.0.
Aside from that there could be some hidden bug gems that I would like to avoid, so I will let others test this build before I update to it. Don't know if this makes sense to some of you but this is how I see things.
I upgraded to lollipop and i won't go back to kitkat..upgrade to A20 and you will see how smooth lollipop is ..the thing i liked most that you can add lg stock widgets to third launchers ..and when you install google now launcher it looks like nexus 6 launcher
I think this thread would fit better at the Q&A section.
Anyway, the only thing that could stop you from updating is xposed framework. For everything else, it's worth.
Bump! works on Lolipop?
Noob question here :fingers-crossed: Would I have to un-root to upgrade to Lollipop? If not, is un-rooting recommended before upgrading?
I've got my device behaving and performing to my satisfaction right now and I was just wondering what re-investment of time would I have to make to get to Lollipop?

Wow go easy on lollipop. Any way think twise before you go there.
Perhaps check S3v3ns thread androidnow 3.0 lollipop 20A. Dont flash that lollipop ota. Use some custom made lollipop so that you dont get stuck in lollipop land for good.
Ok. So because I'm rooted, I should look to upgrade only using some sort of a custom packaged version of Lollipop from the forums here?
I'm sorry, I'm an old iPhone user and the process is to unjailbreak, upgrade and then jailbreak again.
Sorry again for asking silly questions

When going to lollipop the official way.. Ota. For now it is a never go back if you are disapointed with that rom. Once there.. Stuck there.
But if its not allready solved i think there are plenty of hackers aking to crack that nut.

Just hang around on the forum and some kind contributor will allways share latest lollipop version.
Othervise there is guides how to extract the official updates (kdz) and make it harmles to flash.
Latest lollipop is as of now ver 20A and there is at least two rom cooks witch have released lollipop for twrp flashing.
Read the threads. Be observant if you try to go back to kitkat. You have to flash the old modem in that case.

Android 5.0

Does anyone know if it was released today? I saw two articles on google that it was released for D581. Any news on it?
The bits I can find are talking about a Cyanogen CM12 release for the D851. Not stock from LG yet. But perhaps my google-fu is off today.

Hey guys, so judging from this thread the D581 isn't on lollipop yet huh? A friend of mine just got this phone but is using it here in Canada on Wind Mobile. Will the 5.0 update be pushed from T Mobile, which in essence would exclude him from the update, or is it coming directly from LG?

Stock HTC is 4.16.401.10 Android 5.0.1
AT&T M8 is 4.28.502.1 Android 5.0.2
bought it "simlock free".
so only the Att version is on 5.0.2 ?
is there an update coming for the "normal" M8 with 5.0.2 ?
I think HTC will directly update to Android 5.1.1
AT&T is the Only M8 i know.
Sprint and Verizon can it have too.
