I have used MIUI since June with no problems at all, I then tried to install the 9.30 update. It didn't install right even though MD5 matched (stuck on the white HTC Incredible screen). I tried restoring to my backup and after rebooting nothing happened. It tries going to the boot animation but doesn't, just goes to a black screen. I've let it sit for an hour there and nothing happens. I tried resolving this on the MIUI.us forums, but no responses so far.
At that point I tried cm7, it worked but was really glitchy and bootlooping. cm6 was next, and it was working mostly but didn't seem stable to run. I then tried going back to MIUI all of them, 8.19, 9.2, and 9.9 as well as the 9.30, did not install.
I am now running the rooted stock rom and it seems to be running fine these past two weeks (aside from the fact it's sense). Over the weekend I tried, again, to install MIUI and restore a backup but it's still not working. And to make matters worse cm6 and 7 are no longer running.
I have also tried all of the above with CWM 3.0.0.8, CWM 5.0.0.2, and Amon_RA 3.02 (no restore to test) and have had the same issues across all recoveries.
It really seems like my phone has become allergic to any AOSP rom, I haven't tried other sense roms but I'm expecting them to work since the rooted stock rom has both installed and restored with no issues.
I have not tried going back to bone-stock and then re-rooting as that would be a pain. But if it is my only option to get back to MIUI then I will give it a shot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Before you flash a ROM do you:
Clear data: Wipe user data/factory reset
Mounts and Storage - format /system, format /boot, format /data, format /cache
Advanced - Wipe Dalvik
Then flash the ROM?
Before a new rom (not btwn miui updates) I normally wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik. But I don't do anything in mounts and storage unless I need to mount usb storage.

I would back up your current working ROM, try what I mentioned above, and then try flashing MIUI again.
In Mounts and Storage, you'll have the option to format emmc, and sd card too. Just make sure you ARE NOT selecting those items, as obviously you want those intact. If you follow the instruction above, you should be fine.
Got proper HBOOT version?

When I get home I will try doing everything suggested.
My hboot is 92 I believe.

Ok, I did all of the above and still have no luck in installing MIUI or restoring a backup.
Also, I didn't mention this in the first post. When I try and boot from a restored MIUI and it tries to load the boot animation I can still reset the phone with the 3-finger salute, so the phone is still doing something just not what it's supposed to. I did try flashing another boot screen incase there was something wrong with the backup, but that didn't work.
Any other ideas out there?
Tried a different sd? Copy and paste the contents of sd to pc, reformat sd fat32, copy contents back to sd, see if issue persists.
If reformatted native sd doesn't help, perhaps try another.

I just tried both a different sd card as well as reformatting my current one, in both cases I can't install MIUI nor CM6.
Stumped here... Only other thing I can think to try is a Sense ROM on either/both sd's to see what boots and runs without issue.

As I mentioned already I'm currently running the rooted stock gb rom, which is sense. I can try another sense rom just for fun.

Yep, apologies. Speculation on my part:
Bad sd. AOSP interacts with sd on boot and during normal use, device acts up only with AOSP, hence bad sd.
Also, when flashing the AOSP ROM on newly formatted sd, wipe of mounts (data, cache, boot, and system) as well as factory reset, cache partition, and dalvik, all from recovery were successful?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
So sense does not interact with sd the same way as aosp? What could be the problem with the sd card that allows it to do everything but allow it to boot aosp roms (especially since I have tried 2 different ones) ?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
AOSP calls on and even interacts the sd during boot, as well as during normal use. If your device is only wonky running AOSP, I'd suspect the sd, provided a complete wipe is done and the cwm, radio, and HBOOT are what's called for by the AOSP ROM.
Assume nothing restored to fresh aosp install, correct?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, a restore or a fresh install has problems. If I install and then remove the sd card would it possibly boot then?
I'm still confused as to how the sd card can do everything else that it's supposed to but not talk to an aosp rom.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
AOSP uses the sd to operate, Sense does not.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
What I still don't understand then, if it is the SD card, why do I still have the problem with a different sd card?
Is it possible that it is hardware related, or something else, with the phone? I am able to read and write to the SD card when operating the phone, but the issue only appears to happen at boot.
This weekend I may try and unroot and then reroot, just incase some important files got corrupted. as the unroot would replace nearly everything it should fix the problem if it isn't hardware... I'm hoping.
Stumped... Hard to say.

Well, I got tired of sense so I flashed the RUU, reloaded CWM 5.0.0.2 and restored my old rom... it worked. So now I'm fixed, yay.
Thanks for helping me troubleshoot it.
My phone was rooted and I did a backup before flashing it to a starburst v1.7 rom. I did everything correct and now my phone just keeps doing a soft reboot every 10 seconds no matter what.
When I tried to restore it from the CWM recovery screen it says "error sd card not mounted", so therefore I can't even restore. I've done the rooting and flashing soo many times on my other android phone right before I switched to Sprint.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks
Ddownload a .tar file and flash stick rom and kernal and try again?
Did u access cwm manually? Try to use rom manager off the market see what happen. Internal sd or external sd u talking about? When u access to cwm mount and storage check there too.

Hello,
I had this same problem, just go back to stock using Odin & you will be good to go. You can also trying updating to the latest clockword- that has worked for me before as well.
There were some rushed CWM builds released. You may want to try a newer release

Ok, this is what you do.
In cmw, there is an option to mount the phone to a computer, i cant recall where it is in this version. After selecting it, connect your phone to your computer, and move your backup from ur sd card to the phones internal memory, and then restore it from internal memory.

I need some help.
My SD card is maxed full and I need to wipe my phone back to day one.
I was wanting to know, if it is safe to do a factory wipe to basically nothing on it.
I need to completely format my SD card and restore to stock.
Any help from anyone out there would be greatly apprectiated.
If you have a rom ready to go, then yes.

I completely erased the phone and sd card via usb storage after reflashing UCLJ3 stock, then after re-reflashing UCLJ3 stock via odin again, I checked the SD card, and both are COMPLETELY empty
Now, to use the recovery.tar.md5 for touch recovery and flash dbrannon and I's rom and start testing all our updates without worry!
Hello all.
Got my Note 2, a couple of months back. Beast of a phone.
Rooted, and installed Team Asylum CM10.1 ROM [01-29-13]. Ever since installing that ROM, the external SD card used to get unmounted when i locked the phone, and re-mounted everytime I unlocked it. I thought that was how the ROM worked, until recently when the External SD card stopped working. Neither the CWM Recovery nor the ROM recognize the card anymore.
Lost my Nandroid backup too, since it was in the external SD card. But I'm hoping that if it ever comes to it, I'll be able to install Stock ROM again through Odin.
Any suggestions, guys?
Thanks in advance.
Cm10.1 doesn't support exfat format it to fat 32 via pc.

Hello.
My dad recently bought galaxy note 2 as months old.
The problem is that since the beginning it did random reboots from time to time (stock rooted rom).
After few days I've changed the rom once, same happened.
Now I've flashed x note rom, but the problem remains. It sometimes won't turn on from deep sleep and sometimes just reboots (eg. while reading a book).
Do You know what the problem may be?
How do You think, is it hardware?
(he still has warranty)
EDIT:The SIM card is probably the problem. It seems like it doesn't fit good enough in the phone and it has some connection problems with it. Have You faced a problem like this?
If that's the reason, the SIM will have to be changed (the SIM was made new specially for the phone).

This used to happen to my stock rooted note2. I ended wiping in all clean and installed the latest stock rom and no more misbehaving. Not sure if its related in anyway though. Mine was caused by cerberus app I think

Ok try formating extsd on pc then put liquid rom on it now format everything on the phone in recovery so the only thing that remains is the liquid rom on extsd so now ur phone is blank and its internal sd. Flash the liquid rom and see what happens. If the problems continue the flash different kernels that works with cm bassed roms. If it fails on all kernels then revert back to stock rom unrooted and reset the flash counter so u can return the phone to the shop.

I would rather skip the internal storage format as there's a lot of data. External storage is empty anyway, as is it's 2gb only. The phone did the same thing with 32gb card So the external memory doesn't seem to be a problem.
However taking out sim card helped for now. It's only a short test so I'll let You know for sure tomorrow. (let's hope that the sim is broken).
And I was thinking the same about this flash counter and back to stock method. If nothing will help I'll prepare the phone as it was new and give it back to repair.
That would be a disappointment , as my dad had to change the phone because the last one wasn't working good anymore and he can't even trust this one.

Its most likely ur issue is on the internal as the rom and apps store there data on the internal sd so if u leave the internal sd then the issue will keep on no matter what u do. I would suggest u copy the internal sd to pc and format it then reflash what ever rom u use.

I don't think so. The test has proven that there's something wrong with the SIM card.
The phone has been left for the night without SIM card inserted and there was no reboot at all.
Maybe the SIM card is too thin and when the phone tries to read it's status it reboots.
