lost yesterday the camera button. I am not using this camera button very offen, but the
cover does not look good without that small plastic part.
Now looking for a replacement solution. Is there a shop where I can buy this small plastic part?
Or can I print a new button with a 3D printer?

I think the easiest way is to buy whole back cover, it'll will be pretty expensive but still cheaper than 3d printed part, I believe that no one is selling so small parts separate.
A new back cover costs about 10-20€.

Hi all
my elfin fell from quite a high place, and the four casings into which the small screws visible when you take off the back cover are broken...meaning the front casing is loose too.
do you know where I can find a front cover (I don't really need the back but I'm okay with buying both)... but before that I was thinking maybe someone could have bricked their elf or had an unusable device but with a front cover that's ok...

Plenty of covers in a selection of colors on eBay, I suggest you try to find one there. Not that expensive and you can buy a digitizer to match the color.

Digitizer is the outer screen cover attached to the faceplate that is responsible for touch function, the one you use your finger or stylus on. It's sold separately and is fairly easy to replace in cases when the touch function is lost or the digitizer is broken. You can get one to match the color of the housing for a complete look. Just look on eBay and you'll see what I mean.
oh... does that mean that the part responsible for touch function is actually stuck to the front casing and not to the screen itself? I hadn't thought about that... meaning I cannot jut change the front cover, I would have to replace this as well...
[edit] is it possible to use the one from my phone? cause it's working fine after all... I'm looking at it and I don't really know how to take it off...

The digitizer is attached to the housing and in your case needs to be pried off before being used again and re-attached to the new housing. The digitizers are fairly cheap (the reason I don't bother with screen protector), so you will get unscratched and new one that you will have to attach to the new housing. My recommendation would be to buy a new housing and a matching digitizer.

I find it's actually fairly expensive. When you add up the housing + the digitizer + the shipping costs it adds up to quite a lot..

I have an HTC Desire which is a little over a week old, though on Saturday I got my desire knocked out of my hand and took a fall onto gravel and the battery cover's camera lens cracked and now has a thick crack through the middle which is not much of a problem as it is easily replaceable, though the glass which covers the lens/sensor cracked into many pieces though I do not know if it is a filter of some sort or just some dust protector. (I can still use the camera without a problem).
Should I send it for repair to get the protector put in, or will I be ok just buying a new battery cover?

It's likely not just a filter of some sort, but an important part of the optical design. It could be replaceable, but normally replacing lens elements requires re-calibration of the entire lens itself. I doubt though, that they would replace just a part of the lens, they would likely swap the entire thing. I'm pretty sure HTC buy these lenses/modules already assembled and calibrated from someone who specializes in making such things.

Just for everyone benefit i also cracked the back cover plastic screen and also the glass screen on the camera as well. The back cover is easily replaceable by a new back cover off eBay for £12.99 or the lens piece itself for about a £5 i think, which is easy to find but i decided to replace the internal glass myself. I found this on eBay for £7.49:

Using an old sack pin i manage to remove the cracked glass, the trick is to prize up the black plastic the glass is stuck too, that way no shards fall off into the camera itself.
I thoroughly cleaned the camera and new glass with an anti-static wipe.
You have to push out gently the four plastic stripes round the camera that the glass fits into so the new glass fits it snuggly when you push it in.
I did make a hash of it to begin with and touched the back of the glass so it was smudged and got a bit of glue on it. I put an anti-static wipe on the needle end of the sack pin and cleaned it thoroughly and this did the trick. To test it though use barcode scanner as well as the camera app.
I haven't much patience and have large fingers, i guess you could take more time and use more precise tools to do a better job but as the camera isn't the most important function for me this was fine.
I did contact the HTC repair shop that was listed on XDA and this was there reply:

I replaced the whole back part at a samsung official technical shop because of a scratch but if it's not a scratch, just open it and clean it with pressurised air (but it's a bit risky because you might loose warranty)

I bought the part from ebay for about 12 CAD shipped and replaced it myself. Quick and easy job, took about 10 minutes altogether.

Yes it was done by samsung's affiliated repair shop in France, it was because le little plastic was scratched very hard with sand (beach etc) so all photos i would take were blured with a white fog
I'm not a huge fan of opening anything except my computer but i'm sure it could be done easily since it's just opening and cleaning (or whatever, i have not really understood what happened to you camera )
to find the part, i found someone on xda that had provided a link to the original parts of the samsung galaxy S2 for like 10 bucks which was very difficult to find because as a french i wasn't knowing the exact word for the "backplate or whatever it is"
now i know it, just google "galaxy S2 original housing" and you'll find plenty results like this one here (assuming you have to change the whole back cover )
and last things it cost me 25€ for the back only with no extra battery cover which is a bit overpriced :V
I actually just wanted to change the mid part to white to have the contrasting black/white lol. just give my phone a bit more character. The hardest part about replacing the housing though was taking the speaker out of the old one and putting it in the new one (where the hump is).

Wow...that was easier than I expected. The kit is the same quality as the original as far as I can tell. The case cost me about $30on ebay.
Following the video I'd say that most people could probably repair their phones without too much trouble.

I've done this, and it's relatively simple.
1. Remove battery cover and battery (you can remove micro sd and sim if you like).
2. Remove the 7 screws with a precision screwdriver, do not lose.
3. Carefully pry back half of phone from front half (I just used my thumb nails), be careful not to lose volume & power buttons.
4. The lens cover has three tabs that enter from the outside of the phone, and fold over on the inside to prevent it moving. Fold these out so that they are vertical (in doing so mine broke, but this does not matter as we are installing a new lens cover).
5. Once tabs are vertical, push lens cover out (this may take some persuasion).
6. Install new lens cover, fold tabs back and put phone back together.
Let me know if you need photos or further details.

Hey guys, how's it going?
After 6 months with the phone, I finally dropped it today. Luckly, it only damaged the chrome outer bezel. The thing is, I can't stand the phone to stay like this, so I'd like to replace the rear housing, which includes the chrome part.
I've seem some videos on how to replace it and it seems pretty easy and straight forward. But one thing got me in doubt.
From what I understand and correct me if I'm wrong, the rear housing includes the Wifi, phone and GPS antennas. So:
1) Does the replacement unit include new antennas? Or do I have to get them from my old housing?
2) If so, how hard is this antenna replacement?
If it's too hard and dangerous, and I were to send the phone to a repair center, do you think they'd change the rear housing for purely cosmetic purposes? For how much?

The rear housing usually comes with all the antenna, it's as simple as taking out the existing housing and replacing it with the new then just screwing it back. You can check out http://www.cnn.cn you can purchase it here for as cheap as 10bucks and it's good quality. And don't worry its easy.

Before you do anything, i just wanted to point out something important here. Getting your housing replaced, either by yourself or through a phone shop, other than the official Samsung repair center will completely void your warranty. I guess that is something to think about especially when you have all these cases of Sudden Death Syndromes popping around randomly. Its one of the reason ive been holding off from replacing my housing even though i too have this ugly dent on the bezel. Either way, its just a heads up, and good luck with your decision.
Hello there, I've had this phone for about a good year now. However, back in January, I broke the screen. The touch does not work (except for one corner) and the screen is very badly cracked. I looked online for digitizers +LCD's, and I found a lot to choose from. I heard that its best to get one with the frame in tact, which I cannot find. My question is, How would replacing the screen work? How do you put the ribbons back together if you pry them off? (wifi antenna as well.) I would love to use this phone as my main one again, I am currently using a Huawei Ascend Mate 2. Its a good phone, but I loved my Find 7a. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A friend of mine bought in China through Ebay, a screen with the digitizer to World Tradin or something like that, it cost about $ 50.
We did the screen replacement following a guide in iFixit, it was for replace the motherboard, but you can us it and when you reach the screen, it is removed after taking off the plastic frame that holds it (with care, it's fragile ). Double sided tape is needed to attach the new screen.
In YouTube you can find a guide for the screen replacement for Find 5 which can be used for reference.
It is easier than it looks.
