Hi everyone,
Just a quick enquiry to get the feelers out there. Does anyone have a genuine Nexus 5 Bumper Case (preferably black but failing that, other colours are welcome) by any chance, or happen to know where I can get a brand new one from? I may be late on the bandwagon with the Nexus 5 however I have been given the phone for free and want to give it a good run to compare it to my iPhone 5s (I've had iPhone's for over five years so I think it's about time I experience what else is on the market).
I always prefer genuine accessories made for a product.
Thanks in advance guys. I tried posting a link of what I'm after but am unable to due to the 10 post restriction, so here's a picture instead. The Bumper Case I am after can be found on the Google Play Store website.

I'm under the impression there were two 'models', is this true? If so, the revised Bumper Case is what I'm aiming for but I won't say no to the first release case.
Thanks and hopefully something pops up.
@Tilduh
Yes, I've read your post, but just for fun, look also for original Nillkin Nexus 5 case. You won't be dissapointed. This is really value for money.
I appreciate the recommendation. Do you know of any particular places where I could look into that case or am I right in assuming eBay is my best bet?

I bought all of them on e-Bay. I was using them on X10, Arc, Xperia s, Nexus 4 and now Nexus 5 and I allways needed just one of each model.
Cool, thanks mate. I'll look into it but I still prefer the genuine product so the question is still there.
you can get them on Amazon I believe, but they're crap. they peel and get dirty and are rather bulky. there are a number of inexpensive knock offs on Aliexpress and eBay that are likely just as genuine as the originals. there's a thread around here somewhere about them, they're just as good (or bad, depending on your perspective) at a fraction of the cost.

I just bought Two off eBay -
Got a Black first, I liked it so much I purchased a Red within a couple days
Out of China arrived within 10 days in Google official packaging
I'll put it here search for eBay item number: 151231456735
I ordered a yellow one from the same Ebay shop DroidDredd used. We'll see i guess.
Let me know what you think of it, toy203.

I have heard that the Amazon ones do peel and overall are crap quality which is why I haven't bought one from them. I have just found aftermarket products to be very poor quality as opposed to the genuine product. For example with my iPhone 5s, I initially had aftermarket cases. I spent about $40-$50 on the genuine leather case and nothing has compared. The feel is great, quality is flawless and so far I have had no faults whatsoever. I can justify the price as most aftermarket products won't last. After three or four replacement ones you're pretty much spending that amount anyway.
Do it once, do it right I guess.

I have done some research with that seller on eBay and many people have confirmed that that product is not genuine, despite the ad saying they are. I will send him a message and get confirmation. I'm happy to spend $11.75 on it though to see whether it makes the cut.
I got the official case in black from the Google Play store as a gift a while ago and it was pretty crap. The matte color peeled after maybe a month. The buttons also had no real feedback when pressed through the case and it made the phone feel like a brick being so thick and chunky.
I bought a Diztronic Voyeur case as I still wanted protection similar to the official case. This one also has a small window to see the Nexus logo through it, so it still has a similar kind of effect as the official case that has Nexus printed on it. The good thing is that it is only the logo where there is an acrylic window and not the whole back like other cases that make the case look cheap. It looks really premium in the case and the protection I'd say is better than the official case I had as well. It fits snug and the corners have a bit of extra protection on them. It's a bit slimmer feeling in the hand vs the official case as well. It's taken a few tumbles already and only has a couple scuff marks on the back.
I also have a tempered glass screen protector on the front, and the case fits perfectly right against it. So if you have a tempered glass protector and it is installed perfectly centered, the case works great with it.
It was only $10 on Amazon.

This is their official site: http://www.tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=46_99&products_id=371
Apparently there were models I guess you could call them of the Google Bumper Case. The revised model rectified a lot of the issues revolving around the volume and power buttons.
Thanks for your recommendation as well, but as I've mentioned, the Bumper Case is what I'm after at the moment. I want to test it out myself before going to any aftermarket products. I have heard a lot of good things about tempered glass screen protectors though so once my clear film screen protector gets a bit rough, I'm definitely gonna go for one.
Thanks for your post mate.

you can buy genuine ones on Amazon, they're the ones in the $30-35 range. the cheaper ones are all from the same place, doesn't matter where you buy it. there are only maybe a handful of manufacturers making them, and to be honest the "fakes" are likely coming off the same lines as the originals. I've had both a fake and an original, and the only difference was the packaging on the fake was slightly off, the products were identical. I get what you're saying about buying genuine, but in this case fake vs genuine doesn't really matter, because the genuine is a crap product
Go for black case ... fake or genuine doesn't matter.. Other colors just fade away..

Any good places to buy in the UK?
This is basically what you can expect to see happen. Even being the official Nexus 5 case, the quality is not good. If you get any of the brighter colors, it will stain quickly, then peel. If you get the black, it won't stain, but will still peel.
The Spigen Neo Hybrid bumper case has been doing me solid for the past two months or so now. Wish the silver rim was still available, but I have the dark blue version. Looks really good. Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EV...umper+case&dpPl=1&dpID=41ed62TlPXL&ref=plSrch
Thank you for the suggestion iamterence. But I'm still keen on giving the genuine bumper case a solid go before going aftermarket.

I have since managed to get a genuine case from someone in the US for the cost of postage. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and it is perfect. I'm quite sure it is the first model of the case but there are no complaints whatsoever from me yet.

How long did you have this bumper case before it started peeling? Did you ever drop it or chip it anywhere (which would cause the peel to come on much sooner)? I appreciate your reply and opinion. Do you know whether this was the revised bumper case?

I have no idea if my case was old or revised. It was a gift from a friend off the Play Store. Just FYI though, those pics aren't of mine. Those were from a quick Google search. It is a very common issue. I didn't take pics of my case when it peeled, I just got rid of it. I think it was a little over a month when it started to peel a little bit. After another month the whole bottom edge had rubbed off, that's when I bought the Diztronic. I figure it was mostly due to putting it in and taking it out of my pocket. I wasn't really hard on the case or anything. I think the coating is just not very rugged or of high quality. It just rubs off over a short amount of time.
Hopefully yours doesn't get the problem.
Well that's fair enough. I've had mine now for almost three weeks and it's still looking brand new. I have always been a bit overprotective with my phones though so that might come into play. If this one does end up peeling on me, I'll be on the look out for the revised Bumper Case.
Having said that though, I am happy to buy any genuine Nexus 5 products that people have laying around. So long as they're in mint condition of course. This includes the Bumper Case, chargers, cables and other accessories.

Hey folks. Frequent XDA forumer here and new owner of a SGS3.
Unfortunately, my story begins with tragedy. I got my SGS3 just a few days ago, and last night it slipped from my pocket while I was sitting in a chair and fell 2 feet onto concrete. BAM, hairline crack along the entire length of the front glass. I have to say, I'm not too pleased (my Epic 4G took worse tumbles than that without a case) and I'm ordering new glass from eBay to replace myself because the $178.61 Samsung quoted me, and the $150 deductable I'd have to pay Asurion are both complete rip-offs just to swap the front glass. I'd also just like to go on record and point out that Samsung really dropped the ball not rubberizing the back of the SGS3; the phone is beautiful but like a wet fish to handle. I suspect it wouldn't have slipped out of my pocket had it been rubberized like my Epic.
So, anyhow, enough of my bellyaching. Once I finish replacing the front glass, I need to get this thing some protection. I've looked around on eBay and seen a lot of candidates (both brands I recognize like Otterbox and UAG and otherwise) but I'd really like to hear from you guys what you think.
Here's what I'm looking for:
As thin as possible
Rubberized back or TPU shell
Has a kickstand
No extended battery
Let me know your recommendations!
EDIT - I've now been through all ~75 pages of the "Post a picture of your case along with your S3" thread and, coupled with the suggestions from this thread, I've got this running list going of options:
Qmadix Holster Shell Combo (Metalix product line)
SEIDIO ACTIVE with Kickstand
Case-Mate Pop! with Stand
Cruzerlite Spi-Force
Trident Kraken
Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (A lot of alternative styles with kickstand here)
GreatShield Snap Stand
Tomaxx Silikon TPU

Awesome, that's essentially what I'm looking for; some minimal protection that's rubberized and sporting a prop. My only complaint about those Qmadix Metalix models is that visually I'm not really digging the style. They're a little too flashy; I was hoping to see something just all black. But who knows, maybe I'd get used to it. I was glad to hear that the kickstand is very durable, as a lot of the no-name brands I see on eBay have props that look very flimsy.
Would love to see any other suggestions, and thanks again!
I have this: http://www.amazon.com/Aduro-Holster...qid=1352610675&sr=8-6&keywords=galaxy+s3+case
The case its self feels nice but it doesn't protect enough. My screen still broke :crying: with it because it only covers the sides and not the top and bottom. The kickstand is utter **** and falls over when you breathe because the kickstand barely sticks out.
tl;dr: it blows

Perfect. I didn't see anything like that on the Qmadix website so I didn't bother to look any further. Gotta love eBay!
EDIT - Ah, I see it now, it's listed separately due to being a holster/shell combo.

EDIT 2 - Though the prop looks a bit flimsier on this Case Mate model, it does look like it protects a bit better due to having an edge that comes around the edge of the phone, which does add a bit of bulk. Anyone have this case?

Cheap, but at least it offers some kind of screen protection, since it envelops all sides of the phone. In my opinion a case that leaves top and bottom unprotected is just useless since those are the areas your phone will most likely hit when it drops.
And it protects the screen when you put it on a table with the screen facing down.
The case has soft sides but most of the back and three of the sides are hard plastic. Only the bottom left corner is the same "soft" material like the sides are. Buttons on the sides are encased too, so no lint or water will enter there. Still they are working pretty well, need a little more pressure though. At least your phone won't activate accidentally in your pocket as easily as it does without the case.
The soft material is some kind of hard silicone or maybe that's what they call TPA(haven't yet figured out what that is). It has a rubbery touch and makes the otherwise slippery S3 a lot saver to hold but it's not so much that you'll have problems slipping it in your pant pockets.
The kickstand only allows for landscape mode and looks rather flimsy but it's not. It stays in place when closed and has no problem holding the S3 when in use.
Trident Kraken. You can throw your phone like a football across concrete and It wouldn't damage your phone. Plus its has a kickstand and different color choices.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=trident+kraken+S3
I'm probably going to order one of these to try out. Inexpensive as can be and gets good reviews.

I've been looking at that one, though it's a little chunky and kind of on the "busy" side. In terms of protection, it does look to be one of the best sporting a kickstand.

There are tons of great cases, but for the best deal, look on Amazon and search for hybrid case for galaxy s3. There is a case that looks like an otterbox, and it is tough and has a stand. Great deal too, I got mine for $3 including shipping.

You're probably talking about the Fosmon/GreatShield Hybrid (I've seen them branded either way). It's in the list I've added to my OP

if you want serious and TESTED protection and lots of color options but NOT SLIM trust me. get a case-ology impact case.
http://www.case-ology.com/shop-by-d...ices=251&limit=all&manufacturer=8&price=10-20
you can get them on ebay too watch for fakes
I have involuntarily TESTED these cases (SII and SIII) and they are truly protective. never a scratch on the phone whether I crunched it in the hatch of the minivan (ouch) or tossed it 15ft into the street when some wasps decided to teach me the error of my ways as I tried to photograph them
I avoided the stingers and learned my lesson. get a zoom lens hehe
I have the orange and blue one. $12.95 shipped. you can't beat it. they have TWO STYLES for the S3 so watch it. one has a oval around the camera one has an oval with a little "cut out" (you will see what I mean) because if you don't see the exact color combo you want you can buy 2 and mix and match parts I had to do that to get the same blue orange with my S2. so make sure the two you order if you do this are the same style.
you want the "heavy duty hard" cases with the 6 little "curves" on the back like this

its the only case I will use on a day to day basis because I DO NOT have $400 to replace this phone!!
I have one well over 18 months old. NO DEGRADATION AT ALL. the silicon has not gotten loose or sloppy. here is my S2 with the case that's been on it for over 1.5 years.
sadly the blue for the S3 is much much darker. (I prefer lighter brighter colors) so once I have more cash going to order a couple other blue ones and hope one of them is a "lighter" blue. (the S3 case is WAY darker than the picture shows a dark NAVY)

I read your post in the other thread with interest. As I understand it, you combined 2 different cases together (Blue and White and Orange and White) to make your Blue and Orange combo. Unique!
There does seem to be quite a few imitations of this particular style. The Fosmon and GreatShield models mentioned above appear to be virtually the same except for the branding. Either way, all reports of these models appear to be pretty favorable!
Cruzerlite spi (style) is the one you want. I have bought many of them (iPhone, galaxy s2, galaxy s3) and am satisfied with all of them. Grippy, slim, and kickstand works great.
You can get them cheaper on eBay

Excellent choice here ^^
I have purchased a ton of cases, this one is one of my favorites.
I ended up going with the Otterbox Defender when on the job,
and the Seidio Surface case when off work.
If I had to have the same case on all the time, and had to pick only one... it would be one of the Fosmon you link to.

Those who know me from the One X forums here know that I have a bit of a problem when it comes to purchasing cases- I can’t stop. I held a bunch of giveaways for the cases I didn’t use, and I still have about 20 of them sitting in a box. My problem was that I just couldn’t find the perfect case. I loved a lot of them, but I wouldn’t call any of them “perfect”. The same thing happened to me when I switched to the iPhone 5. My problem was compounded by the fact that there are just so many iPhone cases to choose from and I just had to have them all. I had purchased roughly 30 different cases before I came across the Urban Armor Gear case and it was quite literally the last case I ever bought. Well, maybe not literally because after purchasing my black UAG case I had to have one in white and moss as well. Not only that, I bought one for each of the guys that I work with and it became the official unofficial case of our company. I generally prefer my phones naked, but in the case of the iPhone, it felt incomplete without the UAG case on it. Once I put my UAG case on the iPhone, I NEVER took it off. Fast forward to present time and much to my excitement, Urban Armor Gear has a case for the HTC One and I must say- it’s every bit as good as the iPhone version and then some.
The UAG is a composite case with a hard outer shell fused to an impact resistant soft core, and has an awesome body armor pattern to it that makes it look and feel like a military device. There is also a faux bolt pattern that further adds to its rugged looks. The corners have added bumpers for extra protection. The designers of this case definitely deserve some props. While that look may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is EXACTLY what I am looking for in a case. It's badass.
Holding it in your hand, you can just feel the quality of this thing, it is the most well designed case I have ever come across, for ANY phone. As far as protection is concerned, I would group it with other composite cases like the OtterBox Commuter, Incipio DualPro (which I own for the One), and CaseMate Tough. Unlike those cases which are all two pieces, the UAG is a single piece allowing it to be much slimmer and less bulky than any of the others, without sacrificing durability or protection at all. In fact, I actually feel more comfortable with my phone in the UAG case than any of the others. I work a rough job and the potential to damage my phone lurks around every corner. I have zero concerns about the safety of my phone when it is protected with the UAG case.
A major problem that I have come across with cases for the One so far is the way that the power button/IR flasher is handled. Some cases block it completely, others have a complete cutout leaving the button fully exposed and making it uncomfortable to press. Neither is acceptable to me. The UAG case has no such problem. The design team really put their heads together with this one, and came out with an incredibly simple, yet ingenious design- they gave the case a raised power button for easy use, but cut a hole in it so the IR signal can still get through. Whoulda thunk it?? There is literally no decreased IR functionality and the power button is easier to press than without the case. Again, it’s brilliant.
There really isn’t much else to say about it, it’s hands down my favorite case ever (which says an AWFUL lot) and since it became available so soon after the phone’s launch it will probably save me a great deal of money and headaches because I’m not even searching for another case now. Crazy, right? There is not a single thing I would change about this case. It is currently available in 4 color varieties- Navigator (white), Scout (black), Outland (rust), and Aero (slate). I currently have the Navigator and have a Scout on its way.
The UAG strikes the perfect balance between design, comfort, functionality, and protection. It earns a PERFECT 10/10 stars and a wholehearted recommendation from your friendly neighborhood MetalHead. \m/
Get the UAG case from Urban Armor Gear’s website- http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/collections/htc-one

I had a UAG Aero case for my GS3 and absolutely loved it. Glad to see they're starting to ship for the HTC One. I will be ordering on as soon as they show up on Amazon. Can't say enough good things about this case. Love the finish and the way the buttons are easier to press.
Great review! I actually dig the look of the case it compliments the phone very well! It reminds me of a crazy PC case in some way.

This is literally the only case I've ever bought that I have ZERO bad things to say about. If you loved it for the GS3 you'll definitely love it for the One.

I used the seidio active holster with it when I used my iPhone 5 and it was an exact fit, as if the holster was designed for the UAG case. I'm wondering if it'll be the same with the One. I just might take one for the team and give it a shot.

Not sure. Usually Amazon has them cheaper but they aren't available yet, only from UAG's website. Give it time.
Hey MetalHead ..I see you from Illinois. I'm from Chicago..then moved up to Wisconsin to get away from all those crazy gangs...but anyways, how long did it take you to receive the case after you ordered it? I'm thinking about ordering the case.
I have one of these for my Note 2 a awesome case! I just ordered the Aero in Blue I hope it doesn't take to long lol. I to am a case Wh*** as weel MetalHead but UAG has really impressed me with their quality I am using otterbox commuter right now which is not bad but UAG are just so nice !

Hey, I'm stuck between the Commuter and the UAG. Do yu think yu could do a comparison review when yu get the UAG? Really help me out!
Hi,
Nice sounding review, makes me want one Can I ask one thing though, is it possible that you take a picture of the One lying naked on a flat surface with the case lying next to it? To give us an accurate guage of the thickness of the case and how much it would add to the phone. Coming from a 4 inch incredible S, I don't want something thats too bulky
Thanks
I had one of these cases for my S3 and the only thing i didn't like was the edges were kinda sharp which made the case kinda uncomfortable to hold in one hand. Does this one have those same rough edges?

Hello.
I have been looking for a new case and i found the spg slim armor for the s4. I searched to see if there was a version for the s3 but i couldn't find any until i searched on aliexpress and i found the cases bellow :
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
Now i say its inspired on the s4 slim armor because from what i searched there isn't any official version of this for the s3, so i don't even call it a knock off but rather a case with the design inspired on the s4 slim armor, so its clearly not a real spg product. To be honest i don't care if its original or not, just as long as it has decent quality for the price
I was wondering if anyone here ever bought this case and if you can leave some feedback about it? I didn't find threads about it but maybe someone got it and didn't post.
I was also looking for an opinion on which color to get. I have a black s3 and im not sure which one to buy: the silver/black one or the white/black one. Which one would you choose? The light blue one seems nice but im not sure how it would look on because those photos can be a bit misleading sometimes.
Right now i use a spg neo hybrid and its grey with neon on the side, so i wasn't sure if i should get a silver one but i guess they are different shades of grey and different design/color combo.
Thanks.
I haven't bought this case, but I'm definitely interested. How trustworthy is that site?
It will be my first time using that website also, but its a bit like ebay with independent sellers (but i think it doesnt have or require the paypal option like ebay). I have seen that a lot of users here on xda have used the website and they don't seem to have much problems with it. The items do take some time to arrive, but that is expected since they are shipped from China most of the time and that also happens with ebay or other websites.
Which color are you thinking of getting? Im still undecised on which one to get, but now im leaning towards the white one a bit more than the silver one but im not sure. Also, it doesn't seem like it from those photos but most of them(if not all) have a shinny finish on the colored part from what i could see from the listing on the website for this case.
looks nice..

If I decide to get one I would probably get a white one. It kinda looks like they have a matte back, but I hope they are glossy plastic like the spigen ones though. Anyone going to buy one?
I would choose Silver, grey or white. My higher priority goes for Silver because white is quite common. Anyway, the choice is yours. Currently I'm using Trident Kraken(Blue) and I love it so much.

I also liked the silver one for that reason, but im considering the white one a bit more now because i don't have a white case and i already have a grey one ( even though its not silver or glossy), so now im thinking about getting the white one.
EDIT:
Here is other picture where you can see the kind of finish the colored plastic has:

I placed my order for a white case
The grey one does look nice also but since my current case is already grey (although different design and type of material, its still grey) and i don't have a white or black and white case, i went with the white one. If the cases turn out to be nice, i might even order other one
I will let you know when i get the case, but it will be a while since its shipped from China.

I just found this slim armor case yesterday @ a chinese store here at Philippines. I tested it and it fits great,! And the case does like cover the silver sides,, so FULL screen protectors are good companion of this case (provided that you have 100% precision in installing the SP)

Cool Hopefully the ones online are the same of those ( which likely) and they fit good. I was a bit worried about that, im glad you gave feedback on that Its also nice to know that it wont mess with the screen protectors because some cases end up messing the sides of the screen protectors.
I also have the same question as ayeitschris about being a two part case. I think it is, but im not sure :/

Yes it is two piece case. It will go well with case friendly screen protectors (obviously).. But with FULL SP, i cant guarantee, but with my realook 3d forming, it should have been a great fit with the case except that i misaligned the SP a bit to the left so its my fault.
The case does have a good fit, but takes a hell taking it off.
Overall, satisfied. It only costs here like $3.5 only.

I didn't post it at first because i wasn't sure it was ok ( even though i have seen links on other posts, so i think it is but didn't want to risk it) and i also didn't want people thinking i was the seller trying to promote the case.
Search with the following keywords: slim armor case s3 . This will give you a list with different sellers selling the case. Make sure you select at least the option on the top of the page that says "1 piece only" so it won't show you the listings for cases in bulk.
So I've seen a few people talking about bumper cases for the Moto X, but few people seemed to jump at them, and as far as I've seen, no pictures have been posted of the case actually ON the phone. Well, I wanted to explore some alternatives to a full case, and this would give people who use MotoMaker an alternative.
First, I purchased the case off of Amazon for $6.99 shipped. It comes in a few colors. I chose black on black. The case shipped quickly and arrived quickly via USPS.
http://www.amazon.com/Slick-Shell-P...&qid=1381544095&sr=8-3&keywords=moto+x+bumper
Please note, I only just received my Moto X and bumper case today. I haven't had a chance to activate the phone, and won't be doing so since I'm heading out shortly. Still, I need to nerd out a bit with this phone, so I'm writing a short case review. Note, however, that I can't say say if the case affects the function of the phone at all, but I highly doubt it. I will update with my thoughts once I get the thing activated.
Overall impressions: The case is quite nice. Minimal, provides protection for the corners, face, and back, and looks pretty good. It appears to be matte TPU with a thin piece of hard, glossy plastic to help hold it together. Here are a few pictures of the case itself:
This first photo is just the front of the bumper case, followed by a picture from the back. As you can see, it does have a little tab. I'm not sure what this is for.
{

And here we have all the ports cut out of the sides of the bumper case.
The buttons on the side of the case. I've never really cared for buttons on my cases and have cut them off of every TPU case I've had. We'll see how these fair shortly...
As far as I know, the following is the first picture of a Moto X actually sitting in this case. The case slips on pretty easily but sits snugly enough that I have no concerns of it sliding off.
Here's the back. You can see the tab once more. Again, I don't know why it's there, but it, surprisingly, doesn't bother me. I also quite like the "stairstep" that the case does. Just ads a nice flow to it.
The top cutouts align as expected.
As does the bottom cutout.
A picture of the buttons. They're actually VERY well done. I'm surprised at how pleasant they are to press and how solid they feel. You'll notice that they also stick out from the rest of the case just slightly. The recess around them also helps give a nice overall feel.
Here's the phone sitting screen down. The front of the case provides protection for the entire face of the phone.
And the phone sitting on its back to give you an idea of how far the case extends above the screen.
Finally, here's a picture from the side of the phone sitting on its back. From what I can tell, the back of the phone just BARELY sits above the table. I believe (although I can't tell for certain) that the case is the only thing making contact with the table. This seems like it should protect the back of the phone from scratches if it's sitting with the back down, but I can't be completely certain. I'd still do my best to avoid sliding the phone on its back just to be safe.
Conclusion: The case fits very well with properly aligned cutouts, looks quite nice, and seems to provide all of the protection that I wanted. It extends past the screen to protect it if the phone is face down, covers all sides and corners to help protect against drops, and seems to elevate the back JUST above whatever surface it's sitting on (I am not positive on this last statement though). It looks good, feels good, and allows you to enjoy the feel of the back of the phone and that Moto X dimple. If you have a MotoMaker version, this is probably the best way to show it off and keep it protected in my opinion.
As I said, I haven't actually USED the phone with the case on since I haven't had the time to activate it yet. I will be doing so tomorrow or Sunday (tomorrow's a busy day), and I will come back with any important updates.
If anybody wants to know anything more about the case or see different pictures, please ask and I'll see what I can do to provide what you're looking for. It just might take me a day or two, so check back.
Great review and thanks

wow thank you so much for this! I've been trying to find a good bumper case since I have a motomaker-made X, and this post has a ton of great info! A few requests:
Do you plan on removing the covers for the buttons? I would really like my purple ones to shine through, but I'm not sure how it'd work with a case like this...
once you've used the phone a bunch, do you think you could comment on how it feels with vs without the case? I really like the way this phone feels naked, but it's also very smooth and prone to slipping... does the case help with that?
thanks so much and welcome to the X-Zone! Enjoy your new phone!
Thanks OP for this much needed information!
The last picture seems to suggest that the curved back makes the bumper less protective...from what I can see, the phone sits on the table, not the bumper. Nevertheless, the bumper does provide some needed protection.
I also ordered one after days of hesitation. Mainly I ordered a gold skin from DBrand and really wanted to show-off will remember to post the pictures once I have both of them on the phone.
Here is the blue one on white moto x.

I have this case and while I really like it, I have gone back to another because the buttons stick out so much that I keep bumping them. I have to really pay attention when i put it in my pocket that i don't turn it on. This may be silly, but it is a change from the other cases I've had.
I wonder how well it would fit if I cut out the buttons.......hmmmm
I really do like the fact that you can see the back and feel it. Especially the moto bump

Having used the phone for a day and a half now with the case, I don't see myself removing the buttons. They have a great feel in my opinion, and I actually really like that they're slightly raised. I haven't had the issue that chrisomnia1 mentioned of accidentally turning the screen on when putting it in my pocket. If they were removed, I don't know how well this case would work given how flat the buttons are. That said, I had a TPU case for my Galaxy Nexus for which I cut out the volume buttons. They were recessed relative to the rest of the case, but I had no problems using them. It's basically a question of whether you want to spend $7 to find out.

I won't be using it much without the case, so I can't really comment on this in the long term. Although I'm cautious, I've dropped phones a few times and don't want to risk it naked. As for a quick opinion, as with all phones, it feels better without the case. I like that I can still feel the back of the phone though, as it feels much nicer than TPU cases. However, it is NOT a grippy case. I wouldn't say it's slippery, but I don't think it provides any increase in grip. If you're looking to increase the grippiness of the phone, this is not the case to do that.

You're welcome, and I definitely am enjoying it!
The bumper cases scare me to some degree.
1. With a white Moto X - the back gets dirty quickly. Looks like a put pine tar on my phone.
2. In the first few days I went naked, I picked up several chips/scrapes in the soft plastic on the back - this after having babied it waiting for my TPU case to arrive.
Gnex or S3 without a case (covering the back) - sure thing, replacement backs are a dime a dozen. Moto X without a case - not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent.
just got my black/red one and i love it! really great because it shows off the black in the front and the white in the back (developers edition)
real zaebis !
I like the MotoX naked, but my hands are kinda big, and coming from a GNexus--this phone is pretty small. I was looking for a way to slightly increase the size, mainly the width. Does this bumper fulfill that need?
Yes. I like it. In not a fan of cases, but this gives a decent amount of protection without compromising the design.

Yes, I saw that and was interested in it at first glance, but, in the spirit of the topic at hand (bumper cases), it sadly isn't what I would consider to be a true bumper due to the clear back. But it's great it exists and that we have the equivalent of a Ringke Hybrid Fusion case for the X!
It's sad but it looks like the Moto G is going to be getting real bumper treatment (Motorola Grip Shells). I really hope they make some for the X too:

I'd like to begin by explaining how I came to receive the products I'm reviewing. I read a post on these forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2973627) which mentioned these new bumpers. After browsing www.funwatchbands.com I added some bumpers to my cart. However I never completed the purchase as shipping from the USA to the UK was a rather steep $18! I made comment about the shipping in the same thread. Not long after I received an email from the guys at SnuG containing a discount code which essentially meant all I paid for was the $18 shipping and the product was free. So I thought what the hell and ordered a black and a purple bumper on 16th December.
A few days later SnuG replied to the above thread acknowledging the issue with international shipping. They also added that they had thrown in a few 'extras'! Festive spirit a plenty! The items shipped on the 23rd December and I eagerly awaited what surprises the parcel would contain!
Today, 28th December I found out. The guys at SnuG can only be described as AWESOME! I ordered two bumpers and received 7 of various colour. Not content with that, they also threw in a complete black strap with clasp AND an additional blue, purple and red strap! I was genuinely shocked at the generosity. So thanks to all the guys at SnuG for extending the festivities of this time of year for me!
I'd like to just take a moment to point out a few things here. When unknown companies or representatives take time to interact with consumers on forums and social media it always puts my mind at ease about any thoughts of legitimacy. Kudos to SnuG.
Secondly it's good to see that they have acknowledged the issue with shipping costs and are looking at ways of reducing.
Moving on to the products then...
Quick word on packaging. Minimalistic and environmentally friendly just about covers it. The items came in a long brown envelope which looks like its made from recycled material. Aside from the products inside, there was a letter again printed on recycled paper and a small round 'insert' for one of the bumpers.
I personally like this type of packaging. Less mess and no fuss.
The letter detailed a brief few paragraphs about the products, their development and their future development. I get the impression from SnuG that they care a great deal about their products and how they are received, as it went on to say that although they are happy with the current version, they feel it can be improved and as such, they expect a new version to be available January 2015.
They kindly included a discount code to be used in January for a free new improved version. Cheers!
I'll begin by talking about the bumpers. Installation is pretty easy and self explanatory. I found that lining up the button hole and stretching the bumper on was the best method after a few attempts.
Fitment is pretty good. The bumper is a good fit in terms of coverage and the cut outs are spot on, however I do feel that one area it could be improved is in it's attachment. It can be 'accidentally' removed i.e. by coat cuff if caught. It's not enough of an issue to avoid purchasing but it may be worth waiting to see what January's version improves.
The material is a silicone and its a real decent quality. Feels hard wearing but smooth to the touch. Its just pliable enough that its not too loose, especially after installation. Like most silicone though, it does pick up dust and lint (from hands in coat pocket) but does brush off fairly easy. Seems to affect the black colour more then the others but that's probably because it shows up more.
Addressing protection, it raises a couple millimetres above the screen and offers a good knocks and bumps protection to the 360 body and to a degree, may deflect some potential screen damage - though that is obviously not its main intention. What its intended for, it does well. Silicone cases are as old as smartphones and are still a top choice for most. So this is tried and trusted really.
Colour options available give a good selection for consumer. If I had one negative to say about options, I'd say some of the naming of the colours is a bit misleading. "Chrome Black" doesn't make a whole lot of sense given its simply a matte black bumper. The colours themselves though, are bright and vibrant.
The only issue I experienced with the bumpers was 1 of 7 did not have the cut outs. It looks as though the cuts just didn't go completely through. Nothing a knife couldn't sort out though.
The only other bumper I've tried is a 3D printed plastic one from Shapeways which was truly awful. In comparison, these silicone bumpers from SnuG are on a completely different playing field where quality is concerned. And to be honest, I feel silicone is a far superior material to use for this purpose then plastic.
In summary, I've no real complaints with the bumpers other then the aforementioned room for improvement where attachment (hold) is concerned. I would certainly recommend SnuG bumpers IF shipping suits your pocket. On price, I'd have to be honest and say that at $29.99 for a pack of six bumpers is probably a little too much. I can see where they have come to that price, at $5 each it doesn't seem too bad, but for a multi pack $19.99 may have been more appealing. I'm sure if sales and interest in the products takes off, pricing will go down in time. However, considering there is very little competition out there so...
Moving on to the straps. At a good 5-6mm (which is about the same as the stock leather) thick they feel real solid. Again the silicone is high quality, smooth and rugged. The company logo is engraved into the silicone on each strap closest to watch body end - it's well placed, well done.
Installation was a cinch. If you've ever changed a watch strap, you'll have no issue here. Pop out the spring loaded pins, re-insert. Done. I had to cut a good CM off for a comfortable fit and I have average-to-slim wrists. With a few adjustment holes on the clasp too, you get a good range of size options which will cover larger wrist sizes too.
It's been pretty cold here in the UK so can't yet really comment on sweat resistance! However I can say that they feel really comfortable to wear. Having bought a cheap deployment clasp off Amazon previously and whilst it was functional, it was cheap quality I'm happy to report that the ones used by SnuG are of a high quality. You don't feel it there when worn. It springs open nicely when the buttons are pressed. It doesn't rattle at all when closed and feels secure and solid.
Quite honestly, I've not got a bad word to say about the straps. I can't see them having any detrimental effect on the watch back or contributing to cracked back. They slot in as well as the stock leather as unlike metal bands, you've no links to deal with here.
Again range of colours is plenty and I love that you can mix and match colours to suit your requirements. Add a bumper and your options for colour customisation are plenty! The straps do not detract from the elegance of the 360 thanks mainly to the quality of the silicone and clasp. This is a solid and sound product made with care, quality and pride.
I can only highly recommend these SnuG products. The silicone straps are a great alternative to metal and leather which may appeal more to fitness and sports persons, but not limited to. The range of colour customisation is universally appealing.

I get a really good feeling from SnuG, putting aside the freebies (genuinely), they seem like a sound, modern and professional outfit that listen to feedback and respond.
The products they produce are top quality and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again in future.
See the link below for a whole host of photos I took of the products I received.
Thanks for reading.

Are you guys able to say what will be different about the updated version? This is exactly what I've been looking for my 360. I got one of the 3D printed covers from shapeways a while back but it ended up falling off and getting lost (it was better concept than execution anyway). These look much better but I'm curious if you guys have found a solution to the bumpers being pulled off (maybe some kind of lip that grips the bottom). I appreciate in advance any reply!
EDIT: just realized you're handing out codes for the updated protectors. I'm buying a set now then!
Ordered mine on the 2nd didn't ship till the 6th and now I know why the USPS is broke. It left LA to go to Springfield, MA when I live in Missouri. Yup, that's how I would have done it. LOL
Once ordered something from Amazon that technically went twice past my house (on a map if you drew lines from places on tracking details) before it eventually got delivered! Given the warehouse it originated from is about 20miles from me, found it quite funny!
Great review. +1
Would also be interested in their steel bands for Moto 360. They look "okay" at best, but the connector to the Moto 360 itself in regards to the back cracking is what I'm curious about.

Their Facebook page recently updated a status with some details. Basically the only change is a more "snug" fit. Which to be honest, is all it really needs. The current version is far too easily removed by accident.
Updated Protectors
Hey All,
Thanks for the continued support. A sample from a new mold was approved and we hope to have them ready to ship by about the 20th and will be updating the site shortly to take preorders.
The feedback was used to make some very minor changes that will make a big difference.
The material on the inside of the protector is no longer as slippery feeling as the material on the outside which helps the protector stay on much better.
The lip that wraps around the watchface was slightly reduced to give a less bulky appearance.
The inside depth was also increased slightly to allow the lower lip to better wrap under the ridge on the watch.
We put the sample to the test on our 360 and pulled our arm in and out of a tight shirt sleeve several times and it doesn't budge. We can't wait to share them with you!
We will also be introducing some new options to the 6 colors we already offer in the upcoming weeks.

Awesome! And those of us who purchased the original versions will be receiving the updated styles for free, right? How soon should we expect them?
In an update to my review, I just wanted to add my extended experience with the products.
To be brutally honest, I'm not rocking the bumpers currently. Basically I was finding that too often for my liking, the bumper was getting accidentally knocked off. It's less of an issue when wearing baggier sleeve clothing but with tight cuff clothing it is a bit of a nuisance. Couple of times I hadn't noticed immediately that the bumper was gone.
This takes nothing away from the look, feel and quality of the product though.
Thankfully, I firmly believe the guys at SnuG will have sorted this. It seems like something that could be rectified relatively easy with some design changes. From what SnuG have said here, they appear to be addressing it.
The straps, I'm still rocking however! I've not yet returned to the leather. I can't see that changing anytime soon.

Don't know if it applied across the board, but I certainly received a printed note with my delivery which gave me a discount code to apply at checkout to get the new protectors free when they launch.
Got mine last Friday after the mail man took it half way round the world and back. I have not used the band yet but it seems very well made and has a good feel. As I purchased mainly for the protector and as much as I love the look and feel of it, there is no way it was going to stay on even without sleeves. I spent a lot of time chasing it down. I even tried using some narrow pieces of 2 way tape but with the material being silicon it improves it staying on just slightly. I did get the same card for the new version so I will be giving the 2.0 version a spin and hopefully can report back with good results.
New protectors
Anybody who ordered protectors, or a band that came with one from funwatchbands.com should have gotten information on how to get a updated replacement (If you got a protector for free / as an extra gift we can not replace it).
We are very excited to start shipping them out next week!
Next week we will also announce and start offering a new protector style option made from the updated mold with more to follow.
ANYBODY WHO PREORDERS A WATCHBAND SET OR PACK OF PROTECTORS BETWEEN NOW AND 1/19/15 WILL GET THIS NEW PROTECTOR CASE WITH THEIR ORDER FOR FREE! (no code to enter)
I Just ordered mine from funwatchbands.com (1x "Chrome Black" SnuG watch band SET for Moto 360).
I hope that I will receive the new protector!
I really want to protect "my precious", I accidentally did a small scratch on it yesterday and I was soooooo annoyed
Got the updated protector today and it is a wonderful improvement. I would also like to say that this company ROCKS. They are more than plesent to deal with and I will be purchasing more from them in the near future. Now I know everyone would like to know what's up so I took some pictures and will share them here. Now keep in mind that I am not using the Snug band yet because my main interest was in the protector. But the band is quality built and has a very good look and feel. I however have a cheep-o Casio band that I picked up for like 8 bucks. I like the styling of it even though it's cheep. I had to do a little trimming to get it to work but I am satisfied with the results.
Now on to the pictures of the protector portion of my purchas. As most know version 1 was prone to slipping off. They seem to have fixed this in version 2. The inside seems to have a better grippy feel. It fits tighter and almost seems to click in place around the back side of the watch. The surface of the protector has that same nice soft feel as the band and I really like the look and the protection it should give. The edge is less raised than the last version but still sits slightly above the face. Wonderful product with wonderful service from the folks at FunWatchBands.com
Looks like a great improvement from your photos. Lipping around the rear will make a massive difference.
Protectors are rubbish - don't waste your money
I tried version 2 of the bumper protector yesterday and it fell off as soon as I put my jacket on.
No improvement on version 1 in my opinion and I will not be using the bumper as it will probably just fall off.
Not suitable for purpose and Snug watchbands are ripping people off by selling this crap!
I'll reserve judgement until I see for myself or someone with more then one post gives their comments. I don't trust someone with one post, recently joined and all they had to say was bad.
I put it on yesterday and have been at work for 4 hours today ( it is required by my job that I wear long sleeves ) I have been checking my watch regularly to check how the bumper is staying in place and as far as I can tell it hasn't moved since I installed it.
Not saying that someone else might not have the same experience, but so far it’s a winner for me.
I made the recent purchase as well. And unfortunately my experience isn't so good. But with all due respect i just haven't reached out to the Snug Watch people to see if i got a bad batch. So I ordered a set of two protectors the red and the black. And as a really nice gift they added an extra protector free of charge.BUT!!!! my set of protectors just do not stay on my watch. Now its been freezing here in florida lately lol so ive been wearing a jacket and plenty of times i look at the face of the watch and the protector is gone. Ive tried all three just in case one was defective but i have the problem on all three protectors.
