I was rooted using CF auto-root on kitkat, I flashed stock and used OTA update to Lolipop (BOB7) and then re-applied CF-Autoroot. Everything else works great. No lag, root works. However, when I insert any SD Card it gets stuck on the "Preparing SD Card Checking for Errors." It does this for the SD Card I was using before the upgrade before and after I wiped it (64GB) and two brand new 16GB SD cards regardless of the format (NTFS, FAT, exFAT). I'm at a loss. Anyone else having this issue? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!
Try formatting it in lollipop? I never had an issue.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone would be as kind to help me with a problem I am having with my phone or at least point me in the right direction. I currently have a rooted EVO 4G. Its one of the first generation EVO's and its been rooted from Android version 2.2. I have never had a problem with using any Roms before, but I recently lost my original SD card, (The card I initially used to root my phone) and for some reason unknown to me, the alternate card that I now use, does not allow me to install new Roms. In fact, every time I try to install a Rom with this alternate card, the instalation gets aborted, the exact quotes are:
E:can't open /sdcard/MIUI.us_supersonic_1.12.2_Eng_Deo_zipA_signed_naro k.zip(bad)
Installation aborted.
The thing is, when I had my original card (8GB), if I wanted to use my alternate card (32GB) I would flash a Rom using the original card, and after flashing, use the 32GB card for the storage space. So I am assuming this it is not really a phone problem, just maybe something that I need to do or download to my alternate SD card (32GB).
One more thing, I was recently able to install a HTC EVO Sense Rom using the alternate card (32GB) Unfortunately, I am not able to install any ASOP Roms on this card.
Thank You in advance.
Did you try formatting the sd card? Also, it's possible the card is just bad too.

When I first purchased the card, I initially partitioned the card using Rom Manger, but I don't think that I have specifically formatted the card. Is there a formatting instruction page that you can point me to, or do you have instructions of how I should go about formatting my SD Card?
You can either format the SD card while in recovery or when on windows. Just format it then throw roms back on the SD card then wipe wipe wipe and flash away.

Hey guys, i have an issue I need some help with. My wife's Sgs2 has a custom 4.3 now but since last month when it had ICS on it, it has been giving me a lot of issues with the micro sd card. i had a samsung 16 gb on it and all of a sudden it started saying damaged sd card, made me format it but still wouldn't work. i did usb mount to my pc via recovery as my pc wouldn't even id the card when inserted. i formatted to fat32 and tried to mount the card both on recovery and after rebooting the phone but had no luck. then i bought a generic 32 gig micro sd and put it on the phone after I flashed a 4.3 rom on it. at first everything was fine and a huge music folder and CWM backups were all on the external card but all of a sudden, the phone started giving me the same message. I formatted that card hoping the default file type for S2 would work but now it keeps saying either "damaged sd card" or "blank sd card with improper partition" or something like that. I'm at a loss as to what I did wrong and what I should do. Before formatting both the cards I tried using EaseUS recovery but that thing hung up my pc let alone fix the card. If anyone has any clue, suggestion, opinion or information on this, please do let me know. I've searched both on google and here on xda but couldn't find an exact solution or one that worked. Thanks again guys.
anyone have issues with their sd card?? i have a sandisk ultra sdxc 64gb micro card. i have to format this thing about every 8 hours! insert the card and the phone will not recognize it. i take it out, format it on the pc, insert the card, format it on the phone and its fine. the next day i go to access the card and its not listed in the file manager or in the recovery. in settings i click mount sd card, phone shows "preparing SD card" then nothing. i have to do the whole format thing over again.
any ideas?? is there a firmware update i need? phone is build # 1.54.401.10
doesn't matter what rom i use, i have tried 3...phone is fairly new.
i have done root, s-off, recovery, SU, busybox, etc. phone works great! other than the sd card issue.
thanks
figured it out

well i figured it out...did some sniffing around online and found a thread in the SGSIII forum. someone had a similar issue. apparently after doing a bit of additional reading, the htc one m8 does NOT like exFat cards. so while it CAN accept 64gb and 128gb cards, it doesn't really work right. to fix this i used easeus partition software, deleted the partition on the sd card, created a FAT32 one for 64gb, yes it will do it, and it works perfectly. hope this helps someone else.
I have problems with mine. I have a 128GB and haven't formatted it, and it works fine.
Thanks

This totally works! I used EASEUS delete the partition and my HTC one M8 Now Read my SD Card many thanks
Alright though I think the title says it all, I have a 64GB SanDisk micro SDXC card that I bought for my T-Mobile M8 and the card is formatted exFat using the built-in storage menu in settings.
My dilemma is that though everything seems to be correct, every time I reboot the phone or remove and reinstall the card or unmount the card, it can not be remounted without formatting it first and my PC doesn't recognize the card until it's been reformatted and remounted in the phone again.
I've read all about KitKat's ridiculous new sdcard policies and restrictions but I genuinely don't believe that my problem is related to the security updates that came with KitKat. I'm thinking there is another underlying problem.
I'm currently running ViperONE 1.8.0. Though I don't believe ViperONE is the cause.
any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had same problems and i did format my sd card on my pc with win 7 in fAT32 using the "GUIFORMAT" free software, just do a search on Google, then I did put back my sd card in the phone, reboot the phone multiple time, copy files and after more than 3 days still work no problem

And this is with a 64GB card? I had it formatted to FAT32 earlier today and to my surprise it did not corrupt the card after a reboot but it DID have trouble re-mounting the card.
I'll try it again with the program you suggested and see if that changes anything. Thanks for the suggestion.
Anyone else having problems with sd card stopping? I get toasts saying that it has been removed. Doesn't seem to have moved. Removing and reinserting brings it back but only temporarily.
Just wondering if it is my card or my phone.
Thanks
I'm trim Androidnow 2.0 with n update.
I'll try backing up data and reformating with TWRP to see if it helps and then I guess i'll try another card.

Probably a bad sector issue with the card, Have you tried mounting it as a USB storage device and running check disk ? If that doesn't solve it it would be better to partition the sd card and use the good sector. I have a cheap sd card 32 gig, I can recall having similar issue then i partitioned it to 16 gig losing the other 16 gig of storage . My sd card is working great .
Thanks! It turns out it was a Now Rom issue. Been fixed in latest build.
I appreciate the help though!
