because your system can not sync with the phone? are you using linux or mac? for if I understood well, you can use the FlashTool to restore your phone to the latest rom original, and there FlashTool for windows, linux and mac. look at the topic of development.
Im going to downgrade my Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro MK16i from the latest Android 4.0.4 to shipped 2.3.4.
The reason is that with version 4.0.4 my phone slowed down terribly.
My phone is NOT rooted and version 4.0.4 has been uploaded/flashed with official Sony software: Sony PC Companion 2.1
As Sony provides no official way to downgrade Android I have searched here a few useful topics:
Firmwares for MK16i - shipped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
Flashing procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
As I am going to do that for the first time in my life and I have some doubts (I dont want to turn my phone into a brick) I want to ask for a few quiestion/advices:
1. just in case downgrade will fail, can I make some kind of backup of my current system and roll it back ?
2. there are no information at the Flashing Procedure about any assumption/requirements eg. "unlocking boot loader" or any other. My phone is not modified at all. Does this procedure still valid ?
3. my phone was bought in Switzerland and (unfortunately) keyboard key Z is switch with Y (possibly some other keys may be different than regular keyboard is). Please note: I use US-English settings instead.
I searched for shipped/default Android OS image (.ftf file). What I have found is:
- pro MK16_4.0.2.A.0.42_GenericDE
- MK16i_1234-7775_4.0.2.A.0.62_Generic_Trade_Central_Europe
- MK16i_4.1.B.0.431_Baltic
Which one of these would be the most suitable ?

MK16i_4.1.B.0.431_Baltic is 4.0.4, not 2.3.4
I would recommend you to flash 0.62 firmware
- Download the firmware and paste it in Flashtool/firmwares
- Open Flashtool
- Connect the device in flashmode (i believe u have installed flashmode drivers. If not, they are in /Flashtool/drivers
- Press the scar button/flashmode/ and then select the firmware you downloaded. Press start. When finishes it will reboot. Now you are done
If u have any question, ask it, but read tutorials first.
Cheers, hope it helps.
Cm 10.1 (JB)
@czezz bro Y U NO try Jelly Bean cm10.1
Leave those crappy laggy GB & ICS and try cynogenmod ...these rom r fast and smooth with no lag
Hi,
thank you very much for your replies.
Assumptions:
1. For this point it is not clear to me will I be able to restore my phone to any working configuration in case flashing procedure fails ?
2. I assume there are no additional requirements. Simply follow the steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
3. As luiseteyo suggested, I will use 0.62 firmware (I guess 0.62 = MK16i 4.0.2.A.0.62 (1251-0386) )
@shareupload:
thank you for suggestion.
First I will do a very basic operation - flashing with shipped/default firmware (Android OS image ?).
Afterwards, yes I will be interested to do some improvement to my phone. However for that I think I need to read some basic information just to be sure what am I doing and avoid turning my phone into a brick.
It doesnt work at all.
I have followed the instruction. FlashTool tels me that I need to install drivers while I have installed all drivers available in Flashtool\drivers
Please look at the print screen - it also shows that I have all drivers.
However, during procedure when I turn off the phone, unplug the cable, hold back button and then plug cable back again it tells me that I dont have drivers...
SO CONFUSING ((
Here is a print screen: imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/wuds.png/?sa=0
Can anyone please advice what is wrong ???
My phone: SE MK16i

I asked it, because I had some issues on Windows 8.
Did you install Flashmode drivers and the drivers specific to your device?

Hey, as I have written I have installed all available in Flashtool\drivers. Though there is no specific driver for MK16 (why ???)
Additionally, I have installed latest PC Companion.
No luck ((

I know it's an old thread. But, if anyone would face this situation then the solution is that:
1. You need to select(tick) the drivers of your specific model along with flash mode and fast boot(top 2 options) while installing the drivers.
2. When you see the driver selection screen then just hover your mouse over the available drivers to see/find the name of your particular phone and tick that.
3. Remember that there can be 2 or more drivers for the same phone in the selection menu. So, scroll through the entire list and select all the drivers that have your phone name on it.
Also, as of 2020, if you are having a 2011 series Sony Ericsson mobile. Then you need an older flashtool version(not the latest). For Eg 9.13 flashtool version worked for my Sony Erisson MK16i on Windows 8. But, the latest version had some driver & compatibility issues for older phones.
Hi, i m new to android. my Sony ericsson xperia Arc is rebooting again and again. the lock screen appears on Starting up and then the screen vanishes.. and restarts. please guide me what to do. i have rogers phone which i unlocked from the market to use other Sims. thanks please help.
What did you do prior the issue started? Did you have any modifications? Custom ROM/kernel?
Safest solution - Reinstall phone firmware. Either with Flashtool or with Sony PC Companion. Flashtool guide can be found from my signature, the tutorial one.

Greetings, I have Xperia M, Single Sim, C1905 (firmware 15.1.C.2.8). Half-rooted.
As I explained in this thread here I am unable to achieve full-root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50832326) due to something screwy on my phone. I have already full-rooted my girlfriend's Xperia M, same firmware, with no problem at all so this is how I know that there is something wrong with my phone that wont let me achieve full root.
I have already done a Factory Reset which didn't help me achieve full-root either so I would like to totally wipe the phone and start with a fresh OS as if it's brand new from the store. My question is: How can I do this? What tools do I need and what steps would I need to follow? Please help me out...
Note: This may have happened because I used the NUT Tool designed for the dual-sim version of this phone at first when I first tried to full-root it. So now when I try to use the Anto Kus Tool for the single sim variant which I should have used the first damn time it doesn't work. If anyone knows how to erase whatever "data" the dual-sim NUT tool put on my phone that is interfering with the single-sim Anto Kus Tool I would appreciate it. Like I said, a hard factory reset (but I didn't wipe SDcard0) didn't help. But I guess if no one knows how to do that then I will need to totally wipe the phone and start over... (or buy a new phone!)

You can use the Sony PC Companion to repair your firmware, this will do a fresh install.
flash latest firmware using flashtool with wipe data or use sus or pcc and wipe all user data
Sent from my C1905 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Thanks for your reply, any instructions on how to do this? When I plug in my phone to my computer, PC Companion says my phone is fully updated which is true (newest firmware). And I don't see any option in PC Companion where it says "Repair Firmware" or something similar. My options from left to right are Support Zone, Xperia Transfer, Contacts Setup, Media Go, Sync Zone, Backup & Restore & File Manager. Cheers

Thank you most kindly, your instructions have finally made it possible for me to full root my darn phone haha. I had to do the repair procedure just like you said, then first thing I did was the Impactor, Supersu, BusyBox, and finally AntoKus which finally gave me some looooove. Thanks again
Hello XDA!
I've ran into some hardware related issues with my Z1 compact (the earphone jack is glitchy) and i want to send my phone in for repairs.
The thing is i have a modded cyanogenmod firmware on it as i preferred it over the stock rom. I also have that clockword mod thing.
As you can tell i'm not very accostumed to doing these things and i was wondering if anyone would guide me on how to restore the phone to its original stock setting?
The phone is a swedish device so i would need the scandinavian versions i'm guessing, any ideas out there?
Thanks.

You just need to find the right firmware for your region / provider.
I would recommend IaguCool's thread on Xperia Firmware Downloader & Checker, if you have flashtool installed you can make your own ftf that is exactly right for your phone. All the instructions are in the thread.
Hopefully you made a copy of your TA partition before you unlocked it and put CM on your phone? it may not matter if you have not, as long as it looks stock.

Hey digesteve,
Thanks, i'll check that tool out. I don't know if i made any backups of my TA partition, but probably no because i don't know about it.
Is there a way to see if i made a backup of the TA partition, could it be stored somewhere on the phone after installing clockwork mod?
Thanks for the help!

If you didn't do it, then it won't be saved anywhere on the phone. You have to physically copy it to the hard drive of your pc for safekeeping.
It doesn't matter, it won't stop you from restoring the stock rom and I don't think not having it voids the warranty. Maybe somebody could correct me on that?

Definitely didn't do it then. Hopefully they won't give me any trouble for rooting it, it's worth a shot anyway.
I've downloaded the firmware but it doesn't come in the same sort of package as cyanogenmod, are there any guides you can recommend on how to apply this firmware to the phone?
and don´t forget to relock the bootloader with flashtool!

You'll need a copy of flashtool and the adb drivers.
Flashtool will turn the downloaded files into a tft file, but all the instructions are in the thread.
If you get lost then XperienceD's AIO thread will guide you in the right direction
I downloaded flashtool from sonys website and it actually listed stock firmwares in a list which i could apply to my phone so i did.
Now the phone boots into what seems to the be stock firmware, however i was going to go into recovery just to check that was restored too and not the clockworkmod i had previously installed but it seems i cannot boot to recovery anymore, what can i do? Where can i find the "stock recovery" that these phones comes with? I want the phone to seem as it was never rooted/changed on the software level

You have flashed the Sony rom, so now it is stock, with no root or recovery. There isn't a stock recovery. Your work is done.
Isn't there a menu you can boot to that gives you the option to wipe cache partition and do some various other stuff? Perhaps this is only for samsung devices, sorry for the confusion and thanks for the help!
Hopefully the service goes as planned!
Is still the way to do it or is there any new ways ?? I have bought a Z1 Compact for my son who is 8 and he wants it back to stock. It has CyanogenMod now.....cant recall what version though since i dont have the phone with me.
