Hi everyone from XDA Developers forum!
This is my first post hopefully it won't be too bad! Just want to mention first I am only a customer of this product and I have no benefits by writing this post besides sharing it with all the Moto 360 users. Also, the product you receive might be different from the one I got because it is a 3D printed product. Hope you all understand.
I recently ordered the Moto 360 Bumper Case (tall) in black color from Shapeways. Here are my thoughts in the points below:
1. Order Speed:
Took them a little more than a week to complete the production, and that's totally understandable if they produce a lot of products. Shipping time just depends on your location.
2. Packaging:
Very impressive. They used a very big box (around 20cm x 15cm x 10cm) to ship the super tiny bumper case to make sure it doesn't break during the shipping process. Nice job!
3. Quality:
It is pretty fragile because it is a very thin and light weight 3D printed product. I don't think it is a good idea to put pressure on it when it is not on the watch. But when it is on the watch, it becomes pretty sturdy because of the steel ring of the watch. I think the quality is acceptable considering the price and material used.
4. Installation:
Very easy, just need to "clip" it onto your Moto 360 just like a hard phone case. Since the bumper case has a sand paper type of surface (both outside and inside the bumper case ring), I put a layer of tape on my Moto 360 before clipping the bumper case on to make sure it doesn't scratch my watch (I have the silver Moto 360). The layer of tape did not affect clipping the bumper case on. (but I know putting tape in between sounds weird, just in case, haha)
5. Fitting:
As you can see from the pictures, it fits very well on the Moto 360 with all the cutouts aligned pretty much perfectly. The bumper case does not affect the power button, mic (it might be the tape that I put on affecting the reception of the mic, haha), or charging (the watch does NOT sit perfectly on the charging dock like before but that's ok for me. As long as it charges)
6. Last point but the most important one, the LOOK!
Check out all the pictures I posted. I like the look of the bumper case on my Moto 360! I have black watch bands (with or without the cuff, the watch bands I got allows me to switch styles for different occasions). I actually like the sand paper type of surface because it gives the watch a tougher look. I think this part really depends on a lot of factors and it is very a personal preference. If I have metal of different color watch bands, I think it might not fit the look. Also, if you are wearing suits and ties, it might not look as elegant as before. So I will just leave it to you to decide whether or not it looks good to you. Just want to share my thoughts on the major concern that people have (I think, haha)
Sorry for the long post and hope my first post on the XDA forum helps you all!
(somehow I am not sure how to upload images, if you cannot see the pictures, let me know!)
First off..welcome to XDA. Secondly, nice write up and thanks for taking the time to do so but the question that is lingering in the back of my mind is....you DO realize that bumpers make the watch EXTREMELY large! The size of it, looking at your pictures, is something akin to those toy spy watches you can buy....Wow

I'd say the use of "extremely" is exaggerating a lot.

I wouldnt. Sure the 360 isnt a "small" watch, but adding the bumper makes it look like a hockey puck! (THATS a bit of a stretch but still) . I have smaller wrists like the guy who wrote this. When a watch with an added bumper becomes bigger then your wrist...thats TOO large

I don't have this particular bumper but I do have the silicone ones from Snug (review in this forum). As someone with smaller wrists also and with actual experience with the bumpers, you're exagerating. The bumpers are a couple of milimeters thick. That's hardly increasing size exponentially...

Look at the third picture, the watch with the bumper on his wrist. You dont think that looks alittle TOO large? Christ it looks like one of the oxygen gauges divers use in that photo!

If you think the 360 is big to start with, of course you're going to think adding a bumper will make matters worse. It matters not what I think of the photo (which is subject to angle and lighting effects on how it's perceived), you can't argue with physics - they're a couple of mm thick. It's only adding that small amount. You're exaggerating with your ridiculous analogies in an attempt to be humourous. I've seen bigger traditional wrist watches.
Those cases ruin it IMO, just get a plastic screen protector (glass will chip, I tried it) and you're gold.
I've banged this thing against concrete and rough stucco walls and the black metal doesn't get scratched or even dented...
Would like to have one will not influence the appearance of my moto 360.
Have you guys seen this?
BUILT TO TYLT
They look pretty decent, and I am glad they are not leather! I have been using a silicone band, and while it looks good and feels good, I actually prefer the feel of resin bands, the type Casio and G-Shock watches use.
(see my mod here... http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-360/441678-moto-360-sport-edition-watch-strap-mod.html)
That being said, these look great and I like that there is a metal clasp at the end of the band to control the extra slack, and not a loop.
Also, there is no pricing that I can see...

If you had clicked on the "BUY NOW" button you would have seen that they are $29.95.
lol, i didn't see that on the mobile site, maybe i gotta use my eyes!
___
Actually, just checked the mobile site again, and it doesn't seem to have a buy now option!
For $30... that's kinda reasonable. I know that if I buy it, I don't have to alter it and it'll be guaranteed to fit.
I just received a blue one and it is really nice. Perfect size, the blue isn't really too BLUE.
I really like the clasp snaps back into the band to keep it tidy.
Very happy with it.
was going to buy one but then got to the payment page and saw $30 shipping to uk sad times
wondering how these work without the band cutout
Responding to my prior post regarding cut out concerns ... I was no longer worried since this is now sold on the Moto website as an officially recognized accessory.
Ordered one on 4/14, shipped on 4/16 and delivered 4/20 via USPS
Installation was a little trickier than I expected with one of OEM pins acting stubborn. The TYLT included new pins, so I didn't reuse the leather ones.
I didn't feel any resistance installing the band without the cutout.
Impressions:
- Feels lighter and more comfortable than the leather
- Blue color is a nice dark blue and looks nice enough to wear to work
- The metal tip can be trickier to get through the buckle portion of the band.
- Overall I prefer it to the leather (for now)
- Recommended, but $30 is steep for silicone band. I just couldn't bear with sweaty leather any longer, so it's a quality option if you wear your watch during workouts
I originally purchased the Huawei Watch with black leather as I prefer leather bands to metal. All I ever really knew for metal watch bands was the normal steel links, which to me are heavy and rip the hairs out of my wrist. Not exactly something I would like to wear all day long. I have been curious about the Milanese style bands since I seen them advertised by Apple for the Apple Watch. Anyways, I started browsing Amazon to see what was on offer for the Huawei Watch. There are two styles as far as I can see. Milanese bands with a "clamp" style latch and a Milanese band that loops through with a magnetic "latch". I definitely was more attracted to the magnetic style band so I figured I would order it up and give it a go. The only thing I was worried about was the magnet being too weak and coming loose throughout the day, which is not the case at all. It also comes with the quick release style pins, so no tools are needed.
Needless to say, I love it! It makes the Huawei Watch look very sharp and unique in my opinion. It is very comfortable and provides a perfect fit due to the way it "latches". I am pretty sure it would provide a perfect fit for any wrist. It fits the watch so well that it appears as if it were made by the watch manufacture itself. Ever since I have swapped the leather band for the Milanese, I have had quite a few different people ask me about it and wondering "what kind of watch is that?". Also, if you compare it to the other Milanese Bands on Amazon, this one "fits" better. The band itself is slightly wider than the part that attaches to the watch / the part the pin goes through. This is how the original Huawei Watch bands are as well.
They are available in stainless steel, black, and rose gold. The stainless steel matches the standard Huawei Watch perfectly! The part that attaches to the lugs is a "brushed" finish like the sides of the Huawei Watch and not a glossy finish like the face. I actually prefer this, as it will not scratch nearly as easy. I am sure the black would match the black just fine as well. They were $17.99 when I purchased, but they are now $23.99. Still, worth every penny! I guess you could always go pay $129.99 + tax for the Huawei official Milanese band, which has an inferior clasping mechanism in my opinion.

Very cool. I've been interested in this style since I first saw the Apple version. I've looked online but all the ones I've found were using clips to latch. The magnetic band is very cool. I ordered one to give it a shot.
I would love to see some actual pictures of it on your wrist.
Can you post some pictures of the band on your watch?
Thanks for sharing! I have been searching some 2 months ago and could not find a magnetic loop band back then. I immediately ordered this band for HuaweI Watch and also for Apple iWatch and Gear S2 Classic... (Yesoo sells for all those watches!!)
I have a similar band by Hoco...black melanese mesh with magnetic clasp....couldn't recommend it enough! https://plus.google.com/111656357014042389917/posts/ePHuhxVeRpg - photo
I just received this very same band last week and love it! After purchasing a very similar 3rd party band for my wife's Apple watch, I thought this would be a great option for the Huawei watch and am very pleased. The magnetic clasp allows you to adjust for a near perfect fit on your wrist. This also has quick change pins, so it's very easy to swap back and forth between this and the original Huawei leather band when you want a different look. The only negative I've found so far is that the hair on my wrist gets snagged in the magnetic clasp if it's not aligned to the band perfectly.
Also bought it
I also bought one. The only thing I don't like are that some of the links stick up a little on mine near where the mesh is joined to the solid metal parts (You only notice if you look closely and from the right angle, though), and also the metal is slightly darker than the watch case.
Overall though, I'm pleased, especially considering I paid under $20 for it.
I can confirm. This is definitely the best band for this watch. I was thinking the magnetic band would come off, or the links would be messed up, but everything is perfect. As soon as I put it on I got a lot of complements about my watch. Too bad nobody know what a Huawei Watch is around where I live. They always give me a blank stare like I just spoke some foreign language.
I have both the clasp variant mesh band and this magnetic variant mesh band. The magnet is nice and easy to use, and it's very strong too, but the quality of the mesh is much higher on the clasp mesh band. Slightly thicker and feels sturdier, plus it's pretty much a 90% exact stock mesh band replica.
Sorry, I didn't even think to post pics. I will post some later today.

Isn't that a given? :silly: I'm curious to see how it looks compared to the Huawei one that I have.
Here are some pics. I am no photographer and the only camera I have is the one on my Nexus 6.

Sorry, I still can't figure out how to get pics to post directly on my comments. Why can't all forums be like overclock.net and many others and have integrated photo uploads? Where when you go to post a pic, you just upload it directly from your computer and not have to use some third party site and post links... so annoying.
I have the hoco milances magnetic clasp band in stainless steel and I also really like it. My only complaint is that the magnetic clasp slips when I am doing any kind of physical work. I am a social worker my day but in the weekend I like dyi projects around the house. The watch slipping lose sometime is annoying. But over all the w a huawei watch looks great with this band.

I ordered this and have been using it for a few days.
The Magnetic band does come loose over time. I've had to tighten it a few times throughout the day.
I think I want to exchange mine because the magnetic clasp piece doesn't seem to be connected to the band very well. It isn't aligned properly and looks like 1 side is coming out. It isn't loose, but there is a brown (rust?) line that I can see. It is barely noticeable but I think it makes it look cheap.

Which watch face is that please?
I bought this one as well and really hated it. My review is on Amazon if anyone cares to read it (Cory S). I suppose I might had rated it better if I wasn't comparing it directly against the OEM mesh band...but probably not being they lied about the material it is made out of.

It looks like a darker silver. Is it darker then the stainless steel of the watch?

Nah looks the same shade. Just the shadows playing tricks on you.
I've been wearing this band for about a week. I have to adjust it a few times a day but it feels good. I haven't had any compliments on it either. The magnets get a little crazy taking it off. The band kinda all sticks to itself. I am getting faster at getting off and on one handed.
The thinness of the band really makes the Huawei looks super thick, hence why I liked my thick metal band. I also think it looks more feminine (IMO).
Thanks for this. Got the black one and loving it.

I've purchsed the clasp variant you mention here. The mesh is fine, as you write. Otherwise I consider the band pretty much useless, as taking on the watch is a project for a minute or more. Ok, I might not be the handiest guy, but the problems are:
- very tight clasp, the band barely goes through
- very awkward clasp system itself, very hard to use when watch is on the wrist (typical use case, isn't it?).
I can hardly use the claps even off-wrist. From what I can tell from the photos, original Huawei OEM band uses the same system, so it's possibly cheapishly implemented here.
I got the item "packed" in a soft plastic envelope, due to what (probably) it has a very ugly dent on the part which connects to the watch. One of the quick release handles on the hinge fell apart until I got home from work.
tl;dr;
Don't buy this totally noname chinese crap.
So I got this recently looking for Apple Watch like silicone bands for the HW. It's pretty much the leather loop band that was first advertised for the Apple Watch. It's probably more pleather than leather but it holds securely magnetically and fits pretty well once you break it in a couple of days. I got it for ~$12 (includes shipping) off of AliExpress and there are 4 colors.

There also seems to be an Amazon source now but for ~$27.

You're welcome though I'm still hoping to find those Apple Watch style silicone bands. I'm not a fan of the current ones on the market simply due to the metal clasps looking uncomfortable if I was to use them as gym wear.
I will try and keep this little write up clean and a quick read. I went from ZenWatch 1 to Huawei watch a few weeks ago and I really love it.
Problem 1: I do not like belt-style bands so I bought a stainless steel link band and swapped it out.
Problem 2: My wrist is swollen from an accident and stainless band is too tight, needed to switch back to the oem leather for the time being.
Solution to both problems: with minimal effort I was able to modify the stock leather band to use the clasp from the ZenWatch's leather band. It only took about 5 minutes with minimal shaving of leather at the pins, and boring out the holes a little bit (carefully) with an X-Acto knife.
Thoughts: I love it, the band is comfortable and goes on quick without having to stress the band bending it to fasten/unfasten. Now to just pull out the dremel to remove that ASUS branding and give it more of a brushed look.
Very nice looking.
Huh. I like it!
