Oppo Recovery Fail? - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

I am having a really strange problem in that I cannot get any custom recovery to boot on my Oppo Find 7. I get a blank screen with twrp, cwm, etc.
When I try and flash the official recovery it goes into recovery but is only using half the screen. The left of the screen is black with half the Oppo logo, and the right has the recovery options flashing about all over the place. Am I doing something obviously wrong? or is the recovery partition corrupt?
I have used both adb and the "recovery installer" tool from this forum.
btw I can boot into the OS fine. It just seems to be a recovery issue.
edit: Solved it. Basically only nameless recovery works, the others are the wrong resolution.

Hey I have the same issue, and guessed it was the resolution as well. Where did you get mentioned recovery? Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the quick response. Now that I have a proper recovery, will I get the same issue when falshing the latest TWRP?
Edit: why is my screen all of a sudden all reddish? and when booting the device there seems to be white edges around what is supposed to be black boot screen?!

Did you get your phone from Amazon? Or did it came with COS 1.2.8?
As far as I know, those come with some new hardware that isn't fully supported by custom roms or recoveries.
If it's the case, you better restore the original rom and recovery and just wait until things get fixed.

TWRP 2.6.3.3 Problems

Has anyone successfully installed TWRP 2.6.3.3 (http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7) on your HTC One? I have tried all three methods on installing it and I can't seem to get it to stick on my phone.
Method one: Goo.im app
From the menu, selecting Install OpenRecoveryScript and selecting Yes results in No recoveries were found for your device.
Method two: ADB / Terminal
Opened up an ADB shell and used dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p34 which successfully installed it. Rebooting to recovery goes to the HTC screen that says Entering recovery and then reboots the device for a normal startup.
Method three: Fastboot
Booting into the bootloader and selecting the fastboot option in order to run fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img successfully installed. Rebooting to recovery goes to the HTC screen that says Entering recovery and then reboots the device for a normal startup.
Holding volume down + power and selecting Recovery from the bootloader also reboots to the HTC screen that says Entering recovery and then reboots the device for a normal startup.
No idea how to get this installation to stick. Can anyone help out?
the twrp for m7 doesn't work.
the twrp for m7vzw is the one you need.

I used Flashify from the Play Store and it worked perfectly. The recovery held and was able to flash CM11. My fastboot has been screwed ever since I upgraded to Win8.1 so Ive been using that app as an alternative.
EDIT- Using the correct one as the previous post alluded to would also be a great idea. I didn't even catch that.

Can't Flash TWRP after installing MaximusHD
So I am a noob at this stuff and successfully flashed TWRP 2.6.3.3. I installed the MaxHD ROM shortly after following all instructions that I could find. I ran into bootloop and had to revert to an old firmware then flashed the current firmware and viola MaxHD booted right up. However, now I can not flash TWRP back as my recovery. Everytime I flash it and go into recovery it goes into MaxHD ROM. If anyone has any ideas they are much appreciated.
Also, I have read for over three weeks on these boards before posting even my first post so I have tried to research the problem if anyone was wondering that.

Is MaxHD a Verizon rom? That could be an issue if it's not. Also, the latest TWRP is 2.7.0.8. Haven't had any issues with it. Are you flashing it with fastboot commands? You might try the app Flashify.

Good call...it is not for the Verizon HTC One. Thanks much.
It doesn't say it's not in the write up about the ROM...I had to dig into the replies to see if anyone else asked.

[Q] Problems with recovery

Hi, i bought a One X 2 days ago and i unlocked the bootloader, i have 4.2.2 jellybean, i need to root my phone so i downloaded the X One All In One Tool Kit 2.5 and i installed the recovery (TWRP) but when i boot into recovery it just stays in a black screen all the time, it won't pass that, i have to reboot it to get into the system again, i tried installing the CWM but it's the exact same thing, black screen, i won't even appear the CWM logo or the TWRP logo, it just stays in black all along.... i try erasing the cache and nothing, i installed the recovery like 10 times now and it won't work... Why is this? I did everything like the tutorial, i also try directly with the cmd and it's the exact same thing... I really need to root my phone.
Thanks in advance for the help

its clearly not a problem with the Recovery, But i can suggest you something is try flashing it manually. tell me if you are able to do it. you can find how to flash a recovery manually by Command prompt in many Threads.

Device will not flash any recovery in fastboot

My device decided to randomly encrypt itself after using the CM12 port that is available. How this happened is beyond me. Anyhow, I tried to do a factory reset... Nothing would mount because the device was encrypted. So, I thought it would be a great idea to flash a different recovery. By now, I have flashed over 6 recovery images (all different) even the stock. Fastboot says that the transfer went through successfully only to find when I try to boot into recovery, it boots into fastboot instead.
Yes the device is unlocked.
I don't know if there is a ROM on it, but when i try to start it normally, it wont boot past the splash screen (before the boot animation)
Please help, as this is the only phone I am stuck with for a long time
Here's a thread with people that have a similar problem. There are some suggestions of what to do in there, but personally none of them worked for me. I ended up having to send it back to Amazon.

Never factory restore when you have a Custom ROM as it isn't made to reset with the devices stock hardware and causes things to go crazy.
Always use a nandroid of the original system with root, then unroot, then factory restore from that.
Also. YouTube search - HTC Desire 816 root unlock bootloader.
Use the .exe recovery from that video in fastboot at least twice without exiting fastboot or rebooting.
Now try the recovery.

Recovery issue

Having a little issue still with my Recovery. Currently I have Philztouch 6.57.8 recovery and when I go to flash a new rom I get an error "this package supports bootloader 3.18.0.00 ...this device bootloader is 3.16.0.00".
I have tried to flash other recoveries (twrp) and after flashing and trying to go into recovery I just get the green words at the top "entering recovery" but it never actually comes up on the screen. Strangely enough when I do try to go into recovery and I get the green words at the top, my phone pops up on my computer as being connected. So I know something is going on but I just can't seem to get into recovery.
I am trying to not have to RUU, because the last time I tried that I seemed to do something wrong and trying not to brick my phone at this point.
You need to update your bootloader.
And anyway, you posed in the wrong thread he he.

Recovery Boots to Black Screen

So I clean flashed the newest community edition of Oxygen. Directly after I flashed it I flashed SuperSU. Everything goes well, no big error messages (I edited the updater-script for Oxygen). So I boot into Oxygen, and I can't find root. Everything is working beautifully but there's just no SuperSU. So I reboot to recovery, about to flash the zip again, but I get a black screen. Doesn't go away until I hold the power button for 15 seconds. Rebooted to fastboot, flashed TWRP recovery image. Same result, black screen when booting into recovery. Is there something I'm doing wrong? It's usable but I'd really like root....

If your bootloader is unlocked and you can access the bootloader insteead of recovery just get fastboot working on your computer and you should be able to flash the TWRP listed above.

Fastboot not working on my office laptop. Funnily, it used to work earlier. Could someone help me with that? Or I will flash it over the weekend when i am home and revert to complete stock. The Community Build did not seem very attractive or useful in the few days I tried.

Then just install drivers for your phone or do a search and you'll find it for the OnePlus 3
