okay, so I've had my Xperia zl for about 13 months.
I never rooted it or altered anything majorly, just installed nokias z launcher.
5 days ago my microphone stopped working. two days ago, my front camera stopped working. and today, my earpiece stopped working as well.
when I try to make a call, my light sensor shuts down completely and disables everything until the other party disconnects from the call. as well, my battery is draining twice as quickly even though I haven't been using my phone as often as previously.
before these things started happening I didn't install any new apps or change anything. I've done a firmware repair through the pc companion and two factory resets. nothing has worked.
does this sound like a motherboard issue? or is this just a problem with connectors coming loose?

Its looks like it. Open your back cover and remove the connector which connects your front camera(the connector which is in bottom left). Now reconnect the connector. switch on your phone. See if this helps

Hi there,
Now I don't really know where to start...
I had to RMA my desire a while back and they replaced the mainboard and the "upper" board (because of random reboots as well as a dead camera).
About two weeks after I got my phone back, the camera (respectively, I guess, it's the upper board) stopped working again.
Things which stopped working: Cam+LED, front LEDs, internal phone speaker (not the one to listen to music), audio-jack. Those things are all in the "upper" part of the phone, that's why I think the board died.
This is the same for stock/custom ROM, RUU does not restore the function to any of these.
I did not want to send it to repair again straightaway because the things I do mostly (internet, mail, messaging) still work and because it took >6 weeks to repair.
Now the strange thing is, as the title already states, my LED blinks up randomly (for about 1/2 to 1 second). It sometimes blinks when doing a titanium backup, sometimes when (un-)installing an app and sometimes when I start apps.
I think it mostly happens when using apps that request SU access, but not exclusively those apps.
Has anybody gotten a similar problem or any idea, insight?
I'm not really looking for a solution besides sending it to the repaircenter again, but I can't stop wondering why this happens...
Hello. My problem is with the phone's vibrator. 2 or more weeks ago I got the same problem, when I dropped my phone from the bed tot the floor (aprox. 40 cm height), it stopped vibrating for feedback, messages and calls. At that time, I thing I either turned it off and removed battery or just do a reboot, but it started working again until 3 day ago. Since then it stopped working completely. I tried turning it off, reboot, removing the battery for 15 min., nothing worked. I have no vibration feedback (for example when I type a phone number or message), no message receiving vibration, no incoming calls vibration and not even when I turn on/reboot the device does my phone vibrate(it was a small vibration when you turned on the phone). Today I thought I should first try to change my ROM prior to trying to replace the faulty vibrator, but when I selected to reboot to recovery, my phone rebooted and vibrated at the beginning, so I thought the bug is gone. I went back in to the phone and I had: vibrate feedback (typing a phone number), message vibrate, didn't have time to test the call vibration because after I received 2 messages the vibration stopped once again. So now I'm baffled: is it because of the ROM, is it a glitch/bug from the motherboard or is the vibrator almost "dead"? If anyone had this issue and can help me fix the bug I would be really thankful. If I have to replace the vibrator, it wouldn't be a hard thing to do and I would do it if I know this will fix the problem forever.
My phone is S-OFF, rooted, with AcesMod007 ROM. Thank you.
I have installed CM10 | Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - v2.8 by vijendrahs and still no vibration, so it must be from the motherboard or the vibrator itself. I might try to replace it and see if this solves the problem.
No one has encountered this problem until now? No thoughts on this? I've searched for this bug and found some applications that should remove this bug, but they didn't work for me, so I am still open to any suggestion. I still have to wait up to 3 weeks until the vibrator arrives.
L.E.: I've just noticed another anomaly: my phone jumps from 82%-85% battery to full when I'm charging it. Might this have something to do with the vibrator? How can I fix this problem? Thanks.
Tried all kinds of applications that would force the vibrator, but with no success. I am still looking for a solution.
I have no guarantee so I have to fix it myself. I saw that other peoples with the same problem had sent the phone back to HTC for a replace. One of them actually stated that HTC had replaced first the motherboard (with no success) and then the vibrator module. I hope that replacing the vibrator would solve the problem.
I've solved the problem. I decided to open it up, thinking it is a hardware problem, and take a look at it. I've blended the two legs a bit more to make sure they get a perfect connection to the the motherboard and voila. It is working fully.
Hi!
I brought my Xperia Play phone USED two years ago and I've never had any problems with it.
However, recently, the phone has started to freeze itself in "screensaver" mode (Where the screen goes black after 15 seconds and locks the phone), but the screen won't light up no matter which button I press. I've had to restart the phone every time this happens.
It's been behaving strange at start up as well, as it sometimes take 20 minutes just for it to turn on, while on other occasions, it won't turn on at all!
Is this problem caused by the battery, or is it the hardware?
Is it with stock firmware?

Yes.
I've never modded it or installed custom firmware/apps.
Have you tried factory resetting it?

Yes, but it didn't fix it. The problem still occurs.
tldr: Black screen, no display, everything works "under" (I can answer the phone etc). Not a flex cable problem because occurs randomly, regardless of the slider being open or closed. The problem also occurs during boot up, so rather not a software problem.
I think I have something similiar. Everything was fine until a few days ago the screen didn't want to unlock..or at least I thought it was that.
Basically the phone sometimes works OK but sometimes if I turn off (lock) the screen, it won't go back. To be precise, the phone works and if someone calls me I can pick it up moving the finger where the slider should be, it's just the display doesn't turn on. Same goes for booting, bootloader logo etc, so IMO it's not a software problem.
Strange thing is that it just randomly pops back, sometimes when I move the gamepad slider, sometimes when I put in a jack cable or if I hard reset the phone (remove battery). I've had problems with the flex cable in the past and this time I know that it's not it (no difference if I open/close the slider).
My guess would be some power supply or LCD driver IC issues, because the screen stops working almost everytime if I put the phone into the dock. Moreover, if the screen doesn't work, the orange charging LED is not working (green and blue are OK). The moment the screen starts working, the orange charging LED starts working too.
it's very strange but I'm used to electronics doing strange stuff. Just wondering if I should give a try disassembling the phone and trying to fix it or just buy a new one or something?
I might add that I have bought a new battery ~3 months ago, but it's been working fine to this point. I have tried if the same problem occurs with the old/original battery and it's the same.
well, any ideas?
edit: This video shows something very similiar (except the backlight): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4p0-kv1cxA
Same problem. And I guess this guy has it too.

Any help?
Hi guys
I got an HTC M8s less than 2 months now and it has so many issues it's driving me insane at this stage....
It's on stock ROM unrooted with all the latest updates.
First issue that came up was not recognising the headphones after i plugged them in, that eventually went away after lots of searching and fiddling with settings etc.
Then it started going into Car mode while it was resting on the table, no input on my end no triggers set for it, hell i don't even own a car to use this function....
I disabled HTC car and that stopped.
The included micro usb cable somehow went bad, tried it on other devices, it will not charge....
Now i'm having some weird charging behaviour, it drops out of charging and resumes or sometimes it just stops charging (that doesn't happen when the phone is charging while being switched off, so i'm guessing it's not a hardware issue)
Another massive problem is that all incoming/outgoing calls go to the speaker which almost burst my ear drum first time that happened.
I have looked in every single forum out there and have tried all possible solutions, ranging from disabling google Chrome to trying every available speaker management/toggle related program on the play store but nothing seems to be working.
Some times if i plug in the headphones, make a call and then unplug them, then it works as it should for a little while. But later on it reverts to the previous mentioned behaviour.
One thing i have noticed, before it routes calls to the speaker, the screen will light up, no notifications come up and then all calls go to the speaker.
I used Wakelock to try and find out which program triggers the screen wake in order to remove it and maybe solve this issue but nothing came up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as i am at the end of my rope with this device....
I still have my HTC DHD A9191 and i never had any issues with that phone, i'm very dissappointed with HTC :/
Thanks in advance
Yanni
Less then 2 months......return it ! Not even sure what you want to achieve here besides messing up warranty ?
I am using Spign slim armor case on m8s and after using it my power button isn't working.
and I have a Motion Launch problem when phone is on my pocket it opens camera, calls someone because of the sensor.Any fix about that?

ok man
look i have htc one m8 + one m7+one max
the one m7 had the same problem of u
i will give to you one solution for try
i try it on the one m7 and its work
but on one max not work
on m8 not test yet
try this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging.
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal
if it not charge at the first time then try it again andd u will be OK
Hi Hazem
Thanks for the input, i'll give this a go when i get back home and let you know if it works out.
Should i try this when the phone is at 4-5% ? And then let it charge all the way ?
I'm experiencing these same issues as well after rooting my M8. Hopefully someone here knows what the issue is.
Well for me all issues remain unresolved.
My guess so far for the culprit seems to be the magnetic sensor, either badly programmed or a factory defect.

u must charge ur phone
turn off the phone
let him charge to full about 3 hours
and try the method
it will work
i test it on 2 one m7 phones
let me know if that work
thx
Sorry Hazeem I understand that English isn't your first language, and you are trying to help but you are not making much sence....
You are basically telling me to charge my phone, then switch it off and charge it again even though it's already charged for another 3 hours....
Ok an update !
HTC Released a service pack along with an update for the car application, after installing these and a couple of reboots the charging problems stopped and the phone doesn't seem to be waking up without any reason, as it did before.
The calls getting routed to the speaker still remain but thanks to an app called Auto Speaker, I've managed to work around this issue. Before the updates this application had no effect, but now it works as it should by turning off the speaker when the proximity sensor is blocked.
I hope I am not celebrating too soon on this and I'll keep this post updated if anything else, related to these issues, happens.
Update 2
So far so good and with another unexpected benefit, I removed my phone from the charger Saturday morning around 11 and as of now Monday 7:30 it's at 27% !
I'm having the following issues with my OnePlus 3 (stock recovery, no root):
15 November: last known date without any issues
16-18 November: when I played games I noticed that screen won't rotate even when auto rotate was ON
19 November: I wanted to click some pictures when the camera app just stopped working
Tried rebooting and clearing cache, but didn't work
Thought a software update might fix these problems
20-27 November: when I answered calls the screen won't turn off. That's when I realized that all the sensors on the phone had stopped working (no lift up display, motion sensors, etc). Read online that I could get the official Oreo update just by changing my VPN to Germany/Canada. So I did the same and upgraded to Oreo
Still the issues were there and battery drain was significant. The phone would reboot on its own.
On contacting OnePlus support they asked me to do a hard reset which seemed to work only for 3-4 days
28-29 November: the sensors stopped working again & again and I did a hard reset every time
In the end the phone switched off and the white notification light was on continuously. Pressing or holding the power button didn't work. Contacted support
2 December: through a remote session the OnePlus support installed Oreo again and on rebooting I got DM-VERITY error. So the support asked me to visit a Service Centre
3 December: I visited the SC where they concluded it was a hardware issue (motherboard: 17000/-) so I asked them to just roll back to OOS 4.5.1. Worked fine for 10-11 days
14 December: started rebooting randomly. Noticed that the phone would hang and reboot when using the camera (in WhatsApp, CamScanner and stock camera), maybe I'm wrong.
So now there's minimal usage of a phone with such high capabilities knowing that I'll have to do a hard reset once a week.
How can it be a hardware issue if the phone works fine for 4-5 days after a hard reset before breaking down again? What does that white notification light mean? Any help would be greatly appreciated

There is your answer, there is a problem with you motherboard, you need to get it replaced, we cant diagnose a hardware problem here!
How come it works normally for a week or more if there's a problem with the motherboard?
And a hard reset seems to return the phone to its normal state.

That just means that it is faulty and will fail after some time. This most likely means there is a bad memory sector on the board. As suggested. Get it replaced or you will keep having these issues.
Okay. Thanks for clarifying.
May I know what may be the causes for the motherboard damage? How common is it that a motherboard malfunctions?
Because there was no physical damage at all. Thanks again!

See that is the thing. China has no real quality control standards. So it could just have been a bad board. If you look around you will see that a range of random issues seem to pop up over a short time. Yet some are just fine. Like mine. It had a faulty USB port from day one to the point that I knew it was gonna fail. (expected) So I am replacing it.
