Hi,
I made the the mistake yesterday to upgrade a perfectly working Tab 3 7.0 to KitKat, and now i'm having the stupid write-protected SD-card-issue. Also the new stock Video Player Samsung introduced in KitKat has a stupid new layout when browsing videofiles. It cuts the filenames files to an unusable format
Is it possible to downgrade the tab? If yes, is there any specific instructions for this, or is it just to flash it with the correct rom?
Edit: I don't want to root the device, because when i did it on the original device firmware i could not run the Netflx-app at all!
Hi,
I reverted back to 4.1.2 without problem.
Download a 4.1.2 firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T210 (sry if I break any rules? just trying to help!)
Download odin 3.10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
Download Samsung drivers http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117
Install the drivers and extract the firmware so now you have a .tar.md5 file
Set the tablet into download mode, plug it into the computer, ensure that windows installs the driver
Open odin, select PDA and select the tar.md5 file, once it recognices the COM port start flashing.
DO NOT TOUCH ANY OTHER OPTIONS IN ODIN!!
After a while it will reset and most probably stuck in a bootloop. Hold power+home+vol_UP until it powers off. Don't releasse them yet.
Once it powers on again, release only the power. You'll be in recovery. Select factory reset, and now it will boot again, everything working

Hi Guys,
Need your help.
My Samsung galaxy 3 is stuck on the boot screen. I cannot get into recovery mode but download mode works.
Some background info: The phone has never been rooted. It seemed to have slowed down a week ago . I had the screen replaced a month ago as it had cracked. I did experience some problems charging it 2 months back but a new battery and charger seemed to work.
I am not at all technical but will follow any straight forward instructions given by u guys.
My main goal is to get into my phone and its data. So please give suggestions which i can try which will still retain the data.
Many thanks
If you can get download mode you can Odin flash the stock firmware. See my sig for links to everything you need, namely the firmware thread.

This guide will get your phone back up and running properly.
Easy and sure way to fix your problem - Here is s step by step guide:
Download the newest pre-rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 Jellybean v4.1.2 rom: T999_UVDMD5
After downloading make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file.
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
• Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
• Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
• Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
• Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
• Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
• You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
• Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
• Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
• Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
• TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
• If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
• Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
• Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
• You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
• Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
• (It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
Good Luck!
samsung galaxy 3 stuck on boot screen
Thanks for getting back to me. ~Sorry since I actually don't have a clue about all this technical stuff am just going to ask a couple of more silly questions.
so if I try this I should still have my data on the phone? i.e. contacts and pictures?
Misterjunky you said " Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin"
is that the same instruction "Download the newest pre-rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 Jellybean v4.1.2 rom: T999_UVDMD5"
:silly:

Odin flashing the stock rooted firmware will not touch any of your music, pictures and video, it will wipe
wipe all the apps which you have installed, but it's easy to get all that back using the Play Store.
Your contacts will be restore automatically by google after you are done flashing and sign into your
gmail, just be sure that you have either the data turned on or turn the wifi on so google can restore
your contacts, then go to the play store and install whatever apps you had before.
and yes, download the firmware and unzip it to the same folder on your computer's desktop which contains Odin.
once the firmware is unzip it will have a TAR extension as it states in the step by step guide.
pit partican file missing - with odin flash
thanks for the last message.
Just tried your instructions but its failed . its saying pit partition is missing .. where can I find this file. am on t mobile in the uk.
I might have posted this on the wrong thread sorry:
Hello everyone,
Welcome to a series of unfortunate noob events;
All I wanted was to set my default storage to SD, since my Samsung Note 8 GT-N5120 only had 16 gb of internal memory.
I am aware that with my device, I can move apps to SD, but only a part of it gets moved, a huge chunk still stays in the internal memory (i.e 60 mb of an app goes to sd and 100mb of an app stays in memory).
So I searched online and all signs lead to rooting, in order to tweak my device to its fullest ;therefore, making the feature I want available at my disposal. And so I did, I followed tutorials correctly, from usb debugging mode to using odin. SuperSU was there and I downloaded Root Checker just to verify.
My device was working perfectly, but during bootup instead of a screen that shows the android with a pirate patch, it shows a static white screen before going into the samsung logo screen. I've searched through the forums and found out that other GT-N5120 owners had the same problem as well. It was no big deal and I didn't mind.
After that I searched online on things to do after rooting my device. It says install a CWM for better recovery options than what the stock recovery offers, so I did I used this tutorial: droidviews.com/root-and-install-cwm-on-samsung-galaxy-note-8-0-gt-n5100-gt-n5110-gt-n5120-all-models/
Everything was fine and I thought I was getting the hang of this thing, so I moved on to the next step and downloaded ROM Manager, to use a Custom ROM, I used this tutorial: androidtipsz.com/how-to-install-a-custom-rom-on-your-android-phone-using-rom-manager
This part got hazy,
ROM Manager asked me what version of CWM I am using and the options were: 2.0 or 5.x+, I picked the latter
and I was all set,I just needed a Custom ROM to use I picked Paranoid Android. Went to their site downloaded the .zip file that corresponds to my device and used ROM Manager to flash Paranoid Android, but it got to a screen that says my .zip file is for GT-N5120 your device is GT-N5110, which was weird because anywhere I checked on the device (including ROM manager, except when it gets to the said screen) says my device is GT-N5120.
This where the unorthodox noob of myself comes in:
Without hesitation I downloaded the Paranoid Android .zip for GT-N5110 and flashed it with ROM Manager. It worked, the tab still boots and Paranoid Android is running, but the tab got laggy and Google Store stopped running and Email stopped running and because of that, no games would work. SuperSU and ROM Manger didn't open too, I forgot the message tho. Keep in mind I did all this WITHOUT BACKING UP MY FILES igotrektnub
I looked everywhere for a solution to revert without deleting all my files, Ive decided to download the Stock Rom for GT-N5120, the only problem was there were GT-N5120 Stock Roms from different regions, I think that my tablet was from the Sweden Region so I went ahead and downloaded that.
Question#1
Should the Stock Rom I use be region specific? If so how would I check which region my device came from?
So I went to Odin Mode again and flashed this MD5 file:N5120XXDNE4_N5120AUTDNF1_N5120XXDNE4_HOME.tar
it was ok but it got stuck on system.img for a good 2 hours or so? So I did the unthinkable, turn off the device...
After that every time I turn on my device it just boots to the white static screen and never gets past it, I can still go to download mode and recovery mode, but thats about it. I think my recovery mode went back to stock. I tried flashing the root files CF_Auto but it didnt do anything, the same for the CWM, I went into recovery mode factory reset and data wipe and cache wipe, but it still wont get pass the static white screen.
Please help, Ive read somewhere that as long as it still boots download mode, it can still be fixed.
Sincerely,
Nubdatgotrektbyhimself
Please help, I think I made an unusual mistake, all I want is to be able to use the tab again
Could I flash something to make this work again?
Ok so I got it fixed
1. I downloaded a stock rom 4.4.2 from sammobile, its region is unknown and the .md5 file has this name: N5120XWDNE3_N5120OJVDNE3_N5120XXDNE4_HOME.tar
2. Went into download mode flashed it with odin and got stuck at cache.img (passes the cruel system.img)
3. Turned off my device and went into download mode again, flashed this file: CF-Auto-Root-konalte-konaltexx-gtn5120.tar
And now its working again.
*Note: while extracting the .rar file from sammobile make sure you extract .md5 and .dll into the same folder before proceeding with odin.
the noob managed to revert

Hey man, glad you got it sorted out. Just saw this now, otherwise I would have tried to help you sooner. Anyways, yes as long as you can get to download mode then you can always Odin flash the proper official firmware for your specific device from sammobile.com. That gets you back to normal every time. Now that you're up and running, you can root, install CWM recovery, then boot to recovery and make a backup. Now wipe cache and dalvik (note: if you want to "clean" flash instead of "dirty" flash, then also wipe system and data), and then flash a compatible custom rom (that you've previously downloaded to your device) through recovery. Reboot once it's done installing.
If something goes wrong then you can simply reboot to recovery and restore your backup. Always make a fresh backup before flashing a new rom, mod, etc, because restoring a backup is easier than having to Odin official firmware and start over from scratch.
Cheers
Hello,
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 (sm-t900). It's my first Android device.
I don't know what I was thinking, but I tried to root it from Windows 7 installed in Virtualbox.
My host OS is Linux.
Now the tablet is stuck at splash screen - it's looping from SM-T900 to Samsung.
I can still power it down to download mode though.
I used this tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-how-to-root-install-custom-recovery-t3087451.
What I did was (in Virutalbox):
1. Installed Samsung drivers.
2. Downloaded CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.zip.
3. Run Odin.
4. Powered off the tablet into download mode and Attached it to Virtualbox.
5. Selected zip in Odin via PDA and clicked start.
6. It looked like everything went ok, but it was here where tablet tablet was reset. And I think, it's also here, when things went bad, because tablet was detached from Virtualbox.
And my guess is that Odin couldn't finish flashing.
Or maybe it did, because flashing instructions that was displayed on tablet looked ok.
After 10 seconds it was reset.
And splash screen loop started.
Odin did show "PASS" though, but I don't know how was that possible, since the tablet was detached from Virtualbox.
I can still turn the downloading mode on.
Is there any help or is it trashed?
It serves me right I guess.
as long as you can access download mode it should be re-flashable, also first boot might take awhile (1-5 minutes) after flashing the firmware.
you can try samsung kies 3 if odin gave you problems.
no idea if virtualbox will cause problems, but I would flash from a real windows pc... to avoid problems like this
Hello,
Just to be sure - I only tried to root the tablet.
I have not flashed custom recovery or custom ROM.
And Android version on the tablet is 5.1.1, if I remember correctly from briefly skimming through system settings (before rooting).
To be honest, I am a little bit afraid to do anything now.
However, I have been testing some possibilities and here is what I was able to do:
1. I can go into download mode by pressing power+volume down+home.
2. I can go into recovery (stock, no twrp) by pressing power+volume up+home.
3. While in download mode, Odin says Added.
4. After pressing power for ~ 10 seconds, this information appears:
SDCARD MODE
UP KEY: NORMAL BOOTING
DOWN KEY: DOWNLOAD MODE
But there is no effect after pressing up or down key.
So I don't know if I should now:
Try rooting again (no virtualbox of course this time)?
Factory reset? Would it work after aforementioned rooting attempt?
Try flashing stock rom?
Unroot? If anyone knows what is the best action to take now, I would much appreciate it.
I tried wipe data/factory reset (power+volume up+home) - no effect.
I also tried rooting again and this time on real Windows PC (rooting passed) - no effect.
So after sifting through the forums, my understanding is, that the rooting process at http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-how-to-root-install-custom-recovery-t3087451 is for Android 4.x.x.
And since the tablet I bought had 5.1.1, that is the reason it can not now boot.
I will try now recovering to stock ROM (Android 4.x.x).
I just don't know which country the tablet is from.
But after reading similar threads, it seems it is possible to install any official stock ROM.
Just which one to pick?
So I installed stock ROM with Android 4.4.2.
After that rooting worked as expected.
Then I installed TWRP recovery and CM 12.
Hi,
Need some help please
Its my dad's tablet, don't know what hes done with it (probably took it to a shady shop to install some apps)
Now the device switches on, Samsung logo, reboots.
Can't get into recovery. I CAN get to download mode - and thats about it.
Device - Galaxy tab s (T700)
Tried:
1) downloaded stock firmware, tried to flash it through Odin, stuck at initialization (30mins, 1 hour, 5 hours, 8hours just in case) I have tried 3 different computers (including a mac!) and different cables too.
2) used Hemidall to flash boot, sboot and recovery - all went well, Hemidall couldn't re boot it.
3) tried all the above with 3 different stock roms (versions found on sammobile and elsewhere)
Still can't get into recovery - tried home+pwr+vol up after a battery drain and recharge, after download mode, after download mode and home+pwr+vol down.. every possible timing and combination.
Any ideas please?
Hi,
If Odin is stuck at the initialization phase, then are you sure you have the T700 drivers installed on your Windows OS? Make sure the drivers for T700 are installed first before you connect the device via Odin.
I'm not sure if this is your model:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-T700NZWAXAR
But you should scroll down to the "Manuals & Downloads" section and on the right hand side download the drivers and install them, after doing so wait for a minute, then restart your computer and connect your device to Odin, and proceed with the necessary steps to install the STOCK ROM obtained from Sammobile.
Note: Make sure you are downloading the ROM for the correct MODEL variation of your device.
I have a Galaxy Tab3 7.0 SM-T210 that we've owned for a long time, but I now want to use it for more things and find it a little clunky and slow compared to our more up to date smart phones. So i wanted to flash with a newer version of Android, but the tablet now appears to be bricked showing the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" screen and it won't do anything else. It won't enter download mode or recovery mode.
I came across these instructions to take me from a stock tab, and upgrade to Android 9.0 theupgradeguide.com/2019/09/17/install-android-9-0-pie-on-samsung-galaxy-tab-3-7-0-lineageos-16-how-to-guide
I loaded TWRP successfully using Odin and was able to set up a Nandroid backup. I then moved on to part 5 to perform a factory reset of the device, which was successful. This is where it started to go wrong though! I chose the reboot option after the wipe, rather than as per the instructions going back to the TWRP main menu. The tab rebooted and would't get past the Samsung logo. It went back in to download mode when I tried, and then tried to flash with a stock version of KitKat Android. Odin recognised the tab connected, it accepted the .tar flash file, and the tab showed the progress bar showing the download happening. Then Odin failed after a few minutes, and then the firmware upgrade failure error message appeared.
After lots of internet searching I've tried the following:
1. Putting it in download mode, doesn't work!
2. Putting it in recovery mode, doesn't work!
3. Connecting it to Kies, device not recognised and latest version of Kies doesn't have the option to manually select your device to reload the firmware!
4. Tried using ADB, device isn't recognised!
So i'm at a loss what to do to fix it, can anyone help?!
I was just trying to do the same yesterday. It all went fine with backing up and wiping, but TWRP didnt accept the image I downloaded.
It is so sad to have a capable hardware limited due lack of manufacturer care (not even saying updates, because they updated the android version at the time, but lack of optimization and how my tablet became sluggish, gave me disgust of any samsung branded device).
Can't you get to TWRP screen anymore?
If you can get to Odin download mode, trying reflashing Odin (perhaps a different version).
