Delete the Shutdownanimation.apk in /system/app/
If I had my hands on a locked device, i could find the animation source and probably be able to change it, until then, you can only disable it.
Thank you m8

I had this mod on my SGS. Anyone figured it out for SGS2 yet?
In the meantime while mods are sorting this for us I can recommend "Screen Off and Lock", which has a CRT TV animation.
for CRT effect do as below
Decompile framework-res.apk and edit the file \res\values\bools.xml
Change value of bool name='config_animateScreenLights' from 'true' to 'false'
Compile framework-res.apk
Out of curiosity, what do you mean by 'CRT effect' ?

Does anyone know if the CRT effect mod is available to download without a battery mod attached to it also?
I only want the CRT animation but want to keep the original battery indicator. Tried decompling the framework res file but I'm kinda a noob when it comes to more advanced procedures. Couldn't get my head around APKTool or manager.

Do I just have put it randomly in the phone's memory/sd card and install it or do I need to put it somewhere specifically?

Instructions are in the thread. You have to replace your original framework-res.apk file, and need root access.
Thanks Rawat
Had my Galaxy S2 for 2 weeks now, rooted it, made a few mods and tweaks, waiting for my 16gb mem card to arrive and its good to go. Will have to bite the bullet and put my SIM in and retire my beloved HTC Desire
Finally found time to add this mod but i read through Rawat's other thread and it says not to install this mod if you're running VillainRom, which I am.
I know it is available in VillainTweaks but it also installs the battery mod which i dont want. I crashed my phone with force closes last time i tried to install an incompatible mod.
Use the file attached to this post then
NOTE: THIS IS FOR VILLAINROM KE7 ONLY.
I am kinda lost here.
I have KE2 on my phone. Came out ot the box that way. What file do I pick to get the CRT on / off animation on my phone ?
Will the KE7 file work or ?

this app is awesome and has some great screen off animations, like 10-12, no need to root for just one effect, this way you can get a bunch without the need to be rooted

bootanimation.zip is the file name if i recall, it's a series of images that get played in sequence, pull apart the included one if you like, but to change it just replace it with another properly formed bootanimation.zip.
or is it possible to insert an animated gif instead in any way ?
C
where can you find this bootanimation.zip? and will this work on XDAndroid?

Google?
Our bootanimation.zip *appears* to comply with how native Android devices handle bootani. We just put it in an unorthodox location.
So try a native bootani. Good luck - not sure I want a hand-holding, step-by-step guide on replacing the bootani tho. It's what makes XDAndroid builds XDAndroid. Our branding if you will .
haha.. as long as you dont rebrand it and call it your own, I think the team wont mind ..
I just wanted to share my first custom boot logo for anyone that would like it. I know the model number font is wrong but I could not figure out the right one to replicate it so I gave up and decided if faking a new phone I can say that Samsung tried a new look.
To use this on your phone follow these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136699
Although I had to replace the mount line with this one *in the .bat file
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 /mnt/.lfs
If you find the appropriate font (I also don't know what it is off by heart) then I think this will give it a more "official" look, and then it'll look 10 x better.
Thanks for sharing
Hopefully someone can tell me so I can make it look better.

That is in no way official and other then the fact I used a more stylized font they still have the same problem as me and use the wrong font.

why dont you just edit the images from the official android boot animation.?
I think it should be possible by finding the stock bootanimation .zip file under /system/media with root explorer. copy file to your desktop/laptop ect. then open en edit it with GIMP.
... hmmm i think.
let me know good luck

The boot logo is separate from the boot animation, but either way I was editing the originals. But that does not change the fact of creating a 2 when you don't know the font settings to use and don't want to brute force it.
Why don't you guys go the Apple way of doing things and have a Galaxy S 2S/2.5?
The closest font I found for you was Myriad Arabic. There's only very minor differences in the font. If you search the 'myriad' collection of fonts you may find it, or one event closer.
See attachment. All i've changed is the number 2, and i've copied the 'II' to make a 'III'.
The '2' could do with being a tiny bit bolder.

Hello All,
I know this question was already raised by many but I dont see an appropriate answer to this.. I searched the whole forum but I didnt get a proper method of how to enable the sound file(mp3) saved in the bootanimation.zip. I got following thread which was quite useful but not totally..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22773156
Can anyone give me a proper method of how can I enable and change the boot sound please?
I saw some nice thread for moto droid but it has different format than that of Arc. So please we need similar kind of procedure for arc.. thanks..

Dude... Check it out... The name of the app is Bootanimation Changer, but it can also change the sounds!
Ok.. I understand that it also changes the sound but I wont to set my own sound n not the one which comes with the built in bootanimations in that list of the app.. I hope u got me now.. I dont see any option in the app where I can set my own sound..
if you are rooted then navigate to system/media find the bootanimation you want you use.
unzip file
insert sound files.
rezip
This might help not 100% sure.
I have not tried it dont know if it will work.
Sent from somewhere.......
Yes bro.. This is the one I want.. From where can I get this app?

I think you just put a mp3 file called "bootanim.mp3" inside the bootanimation.zip file: -
* Extract the file some-where on your pc.
* put bootanim.mp3 in the same folder as desc.txt (this is the root of the extracted file).
* re-create the zip file called bootanimation.zip BUT you must use "store" compression.
* put the new bootanimation.zip into the /system/media folder of your android device (requires a program like "root browser")
That should do it...
Hey guys,
As above. Just about to flatten my Z1 Compact and I need to find and save my current lock screen and home screen wallpapers... can't find them anywhere?
Any ideas?

Might vary by ROM, but I think its typically /data/system/users/0. It's just called 'wallpaper', with no extension, so just add .jpg or something to view it.
Thanks mate! Nope, I can't even find that root directory
/data is completely empty... I'm on stock Lollipop.

/data/* is only visible to those with root privileges
*gulps*, no... does this mean I can never get at those wallpapers? So frustrating, I'm using them now
remove all the icons and take a screenshot
