Contact Picture Sync Issues? - Moto 360

Everytime I change a contact picture on my phone to something more current, I get a blank screen when that person calls. Is there any way to fix this?
I don't want to reset my watch every single time to fix it

I've seen that the watch prefers Google Contact pictures. They are displayed in high-resolution on the calling screen.
And in low resolution everywhere else, excepting Hangouts.

Caller ID Photo

Hi,
I came across problem with caller id photo quality is poor. It is blurry because stretched up.
This happen when you sync with Google Contact, because your original high-res caller id photo is replaced with Google Contact 96x96 size.
Is this still happening with Desire?

Noone is using Google contacts with photo having this issue?
I am having this problem. I think it only happens when you use the camera to take a photo when editing contacts. If you choose a photo instead of opening the camera to take a new photo, you will have the option to crop the photo and the resolution seems much better. I just tried it last night and it seems to work.
Later edit:
When you link it to the Google account, it scales it down to a very bad resolution.
it also happens when you link your contacts with facebook accounts

Ugh, this is not good. I just went over to the google forums, and see that this issue has been open for a long, long time.
Has anyone found any workarounds, especially for using the FB sync problem with Caller Id Photos?
I also have this problem, only on a Hero. The problem occurred when I flashed a 2.1 ROM on it. Sometimes the photos are blurry, and sometimes they disappear completely, replaced by the generic photo.
It seems to change when I connect/disconnect from wifi, but not every time.
Just thought I'd add the info, even though it's not on a Desire.

[Q] Blurry Caller ID Pictures

Before I had rooted my phone, all of my Caller ID photos would show up nice and clear when I was on a call with a person. Since rooting my phone, the picture that shows up whenever I'm on a call (assuming I have a photo assigned to that person) is a blurry mess.
I've tried clearing all the photos assigned to the contacts and reassigning them, but I'm still getting the same result. Since rooting, I experimented with all kinds of ROMs and kernels before settling on the stock rooted 1.47 with netarchy's fps fix kernel. Is it possible that one of the many ROMs/kernels I tried messed with the optimization or compression of Caller ID pictures?
Any help would be much appreciated!
I have the same issue. Except my pictures were blurry before I rooted...after I rooted the first time, after I un-rooted, and now that I am back rooted again. The stock Froyo picture is in good shape though.
It's a problem on Google's end. Something to do with them downsampling the picture on sync to save bandwidth.
Thanks for the help, guys. Turns out it is indeed Google Contacts syncing that's responsible for compressing the files. Turning off Google Contacts sync then removing the photos and reassigning them fixed the issue.

Another way to do this is to leave all of the Google contacts without pictures. Next, create contacts stored only on the phone with the same name and the picture. Then you can link the contacts together and no pictures will ever be messed up by Google.
It sucks that it also seems to distort Facebook contact pictures.

Facebook synch to contacts/pictures problem?

Hey guys,
Recently I have been experiancing some problems with the synching of contacts through Facebook to my Evo, specifically the picture aspect of it. Out of about 100 or so contacts on my phone, only about 10 actually have their up to date facebook picture as the contact icon. Everyone that I want with the picture is linked to facebook, yet their picture still doesnt show. I can see their status's and even their photo albums, but still no contact picture. Anyone know the answer?
I think its a app called syncmypix heard that works well
Swyped From My Rom But I Will Always Be A Mynion!
You could always manually switch their picture though edit contact to the facebook one. This may take too much of your time but it should work. Unless of course you already tried that.
from my EVO using XDA app.

Fix blurred contact images on phone calls.

This has been something that has been consistantly bad over several roms since I got my EVO almost a year ago. There has to be a fix for this.

It's not an ideal fix by any means, but the best option I've found is to create a local version of the contact (Phone only, instead of from Google), put the picture on that, and link them. Of course the picture won't sync then.
The problem is that Google Contacts doesn't support high res pictures, and it downsamples them when you add them. It's inexcusable that they haven't fixed it after all this time, but they haven't.
there is a few apps out there that do have a full screen picture when called, full screen id should be the name

can't change contact pictures

i got a pretty annoying bug as of lately. Everytime i try to update a contact's picture on my at&t s3 it updates it to the same picture every time. This happens every time with every contact i try to change. I even deleted the original picture that keeps duplicating and it still updates to that same photo! The only way around this bug that i have found is to update my pictures on google contacts from my web browser. However when i do that all the pictures come out all fuzzy because of the low res. anyone have this same issue?
