[Q] Restoring Nexus 7 rooted with Towel root, with a locked bootloader

A while ago I used towel root which doesn't unlock the boot loader. I then used the twrp manager to install custom recovery. I have tried flashing all by adb but that didn't work. I then tried flashing the boot loader but it said failed, boot loader is locked. Will i be able to unlock the boot loader then flash all then re lock the boot loader? Final question, would all of this allow me to download Android 5.0 OTA? Thank you, any help is really appreciated.

Do you have the proper drivers and the Android SDK installed and updated? Does your computer recognize the tablet? If so, yes you can unlock the bootloader. Find the guide in the Nexus 7 subforum and follow it step for step. Once you have the 4.4.4 stock image installed, you'll be able to receive the 5.0 OTA when it becomes available.
Now some questions:
1. There's no way to install a custom recovery with the bootloader locked. What makes you think TWRP Manager installed anything?
2. Why do you want to relock the bootloader?
Now a statement: Stop using toolkits. Read more before asking questions. Learn how to use adb and fasboot. If you have time to find this forum and actively post questions, you can take the time to learn the basics. I learned simply by following guides and searching for answers before attempting to do anything with any and all of my Android devices. This isn't any different from buying a car before you know how to drive.

Once rooted with towelroot or otherwise, you can unlock and relock the boot loader with an app. Bootunlocker for nexus devices, in the play store. This app method does not wipe user data.

You can flash TWRP with locked bootloader. I was even running 4 custom roms with MultiROM with a locked bootloader!

[Q] help me how to install cmw recovery

Guys I rooted my xperia m dual using towel rooter so I didn't change my recovery mode so please help to install cmw recovery and tell me that towel rooter gives temporary root or permanent root pls help me. Thanks in advance

Well first things first, you have to unlock your bootloader. You can do so by going here.
Instead of installing CWM, I will show you how to install PhilZ Touch (It's much recommended and up-to-date (kind of).)
Go here and download the file. Power off your phone and go to Flashtool. Then click the lightning button, choose Fastboot mode, and navigate to the downloaded file.
But if you really want to use CWM, just go here. Same steps. I want to remind you that it's a bit outdated.

Hey, just so that you know don't forget to backup your TA Partition before unlocking bootloader . There are many tools easily availabe for that because unlocking wipes the TA Partition and you cannot lock again, or retrieve DRM Keys without backup.
Also take backups before unlocking bootloader, sometimes the process can result in bootloop (mine did) . All the best

Unlock bootloader > download CWM and flash it via flashtool

just flash the boot.img from the cm11 zip using flashtool and you will have the cwm recovery in ur phone.

Hi,
I have read many threads, but I'm confused over all different solutions to get root/recovery depending on locked/unlocked BL and running build number.
Somehow I lost my root and also recovery when flashing. Running 270 and I have unlocked my BL earlier.
How to be able to get back root and possibility to install recovery ?

Hello, I've read so many guides that I'm confused. I'm on the N910VVRS2CQB2 6.0.1 rom. I want to flash a note 7 port room on my device but I obviously need to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and root.
I need someone who can help with a simple guide on how to achieve these (unlocking bootloader, flashing TWRP and rooting), thanks

A concept of flashing FW without bootloader unlock

So i get this idea i don't even know where. So first step is to get root access. Like kingoroot that can done this on device without bootloader unlock. Than i'd use TWRP app to flash recovery and lastly flash a custom os. I really dont know if it will work but i will definitely try this sometimes

Or just flash factory firmware without needing root or the bootloader unlocked...
