[Q] LG G E988 can't boot in download mode - LG Optimus G Pro

Hi all.
I need help from a hivemind. I've got a LG G E988 with E98820B firmware. I've rooted it via ioroot (successfully) and tried to install custom recovery via freegee, and now my phone is not booting into download mode. If I try to reboot it from my PC using adb, I get "boot certification verify" error. Otherwise phone is booting fine into it's stock HK firmware.
So, long story short, I need download mode to flash stock european firmware but I have this strange error. Closest thing to solution of my problem is this thread , but I want something less radical. In case if something less radical exists.
Any ideas?

Did you power off device via home power button? When you power down, then try to power back on just hit the power button then hold the plus and minus volume rocker while letting go of power button.

Yes. It casually boots up into rom. I think I somehow messed up my recovery. So is there any way to restore recovery, or flash custom recovery, without booting up in download mode?

Enable USB Debugging
Connect mobile with PC and select LG Software (Wait for 1-2 minutes and let the drivers install)
Once drivers are installed, Run LG flash tool and start flashing KDZ. It will automatically boot it into download mode and flashing process will start. (If flashing stops / stuck at 4% and your phone is in download mode, remove USB cable, close LG flashtool.... connect USB cable again and restart KDZ flashing)

Tried. Now I can't boot into download mode AND can't boot into rom. And none of my computers see my phone in this state. Any possible explanations for such situation? And what to do about it..

To go Into recovery mode hold Home +Volumen up and Power button , when you see Samsung Logo hold only Home and Vulome up for the next around 20 sec that you See the recovery menu.
Please help me !
I have the same problem, I've took the steps to aquire recovery but nothing happens
On my 8.0 recovery is power+volume up, no home button. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Try downloading an app like " rebooter" from the play store. See if that will get u into it.
Also I use power/vol up to get into recovery.

dude where can I get the recovery? please do share tge link ... I'm having the same problem!!
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids version (SM-T2105). It is only a Wifi tablet. I never rooted and USB debugging is not enabled (Keep this in mind). It is pure stock firmware. My 9yr old daughter has locked herself out. The Lock Screen password does not work. Because I can not gain access, I do not know exactly what firmware version it has or enable USB debugging (again - keep this in mind). The tablet will not boot to recovery mode, no matter what button combination I use. It only boots back to the Lock Screen. I tried in Regular Mode and Safe Mode. The only other mode that works is Download Mode (for Odin).
I am trying to do a Factory Reset, but I can not get into Recovery Mode. I tried flashing the stock firmware using Odin, but that does not work even after everthing PASSED with green lights (Odin 3.10.7). The tablet just reboots back to the same Lock Screen. Also, because the tablet is not enabled with USB debugging I can not do anything with ADB.
So basically I am stuck on the Lock Screen, and cant get into Recovery Mode in order to do a Factory Reset. Also, Odin flash is not working, even though everything says completed successfully. I have read in another post that other people are experiancing the same issue not being able to get into Recovery Mode (even when the tablet is not locked out and working fine). See this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3/help/samsung-galaxy-tab-3-7-kids-t2105-t-t3294954
Can anyone help me. I beleive the tablet is stock in a soft brick that doesn't allow access to Recovery Mode. And the Locked Screen password is preventing me from getting into the table OS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And my 9yr old daughter will be happy again...
Thanks,
ggee
Hello,
I'm not sure which one of these did the trick for me, but I was able to get into recovery mode. I'm not sure if your three tables are rooted or not, but I don't think it matters. Try these two methods:
Method #1:
Technically, I think I just stumbled on to this one after successfully completing Method #2 (below). But it's worth trying it first before moving on to Method #2.
-Hold the Home + Volume Up + Power buttons together at the same time (just like the normal process).
-Now, you will probably need to try this next step a couple of time before you get it right. This is because it happens pretty fast and you need to time it perfectly.
-Notice that when the screen turns on, the actual first thing that happens is that the the screen backlight turns on and glows first. This happens first and a split second later the first Samsung logo flashes.
-You need to let go of all three buttons at the same time as soon as you see the backlight turn on, but before the Samsung logo flashes.
This is the sweet spot, and it happens pretty fast. But once you do it at the right time, the tablet will go black again and then the recovey mode will show up. It works for me every time.
Method #2:
I thought somehow the recovey mode portion of the firmware had become corrupter somehow. So I decided to flash a custom recovery using Odin (since at that time I hadn't stumbled onto Method #1 yet). Make sure to download and flash the CWM or TWRP .tar file for Odin (I personally have always liked CWM over TWRP).
-Make sure you have all the correct USB drivers for the tablet installed on your computer.
-Open Odin and load the .tar file that you downloaded into the PDA or AP slot (depending on your Odin version).
-Let Odin check the m5d verification for successful authorization.
-Once Odin is ready, then boot the tablet into Download Mode (Home + Volume Down + Power button)
-Connect the table to a USB cable that is attached to your computer's main USB port.
-Odin should now recognize that the table it connected to a valid COM port.
-Click <Start> button on Odin and it should flash the costum recovey .tar file pretty quickly.
-The tablet will simultaneously flash a progress bar and start to automatically reboot (also pretty quickly).
-Disconnect the tablet from the USB cable now.
If the tablet does not automatically reboot to the new custom recovery screen, then just power off the tablet completely. Wait 30 seconds, and then boot the table to recovery mode use the Method #1 shown above. You should now be able to go into the new custom recovery mode you flashed with Odin (CMW or TWRP). It should all work now.
From this point you can download and install SuperSU to add root (if you want to).
Let me know if this works for you.

[Q] F180 (vol up + power) does't work

Main information. F180, bootloader unlocked with teenybin, I'm on resurection lp rom.
Everything worked fine but I accidentally flashed the wrong file, now the phone is in boot loop. Though that is not the problem (I know how to fix it).
The problem is that there is no way I can access recovery. This happened to me before but I got lucky - computer detected the phone while it was in bootloop and I was able to use (adb reboot recovery). Next time I got lucky some kind of green screen showed up and from there I was able to go to recovery. Now i know that the most obvious way to go to recovery is through bootloader (vol up + power) but no matter how many times and in what diffrerent ways I try it I can't boot into bootloader it simply starts booting the rom... I am frustrated and have zero ides. Maybe you have some. Thank you in advance.
P.s.: i held down the power button for over 1 minute before attempting. And also download mode works.
If you can still boot into download mode you can try to flash the original firmware with the LG flash tool:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
Don't worry you can use it for the LG Optimus G too:fingers-crossed:
Thank you for the idea, but I managed to solve my problem the same way as before. Use adb while the phone is in bootloop.

H815 stuck in bootloop, no download mode or recovery

Hello,
I unlocked the bootloader on my LG G4, flashed TWRP and then using TWRP flashed a SuperSU plus a new bootloader for Android M along with the Android M system etc...
The phone is now stuck in a bootloop.
I can no longer get in to TWRP and can get into download mode very briefly before the phone reboots again. My PC can not detect the phone at all.
Can anyone help? Have a feeling I've hard bricked the phone
Thanks, Ben
i have the same issue

Hello Everyone. Someone has got news? Cause my lg g4 stuck on the same issue.
I unlock bootloader and try to install twrp. Via fastboot flash command twrp doesn't seem to get installed. So i try to boot in twrp and then install the img to the recovery partition. All seemed to go fine. When i try to reboot to recovery twrp ask me to root the device. Why not? I leave twrp installs superSu (I think this was my mistake). Now I've a continuous bootloop, even if I simply plug it to the charger. Vol down + Power buttons neither vol up + power doesn't work.
Sorry for bad english
I think one way is to disconnect the battery by disassembling the phone(check Google), then reconnect it and boot to recovery using the correct key combinations. I hope it works. It worked for me.
Install the LGUP tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
Install both file.
Download the kdz files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64298942&postcount=6
This V20A MM, for 5.1 or v20b you have to search.
Power down your phone.
Push and hold Volume Up and then plug the phone via USB to your PC.
The Phone enter the download mode.
Start LGUP, select the KDZ file.
If you choose "upgrade" all data will be obtain, if you choose "refurbish" all data will be lost.
I suggest "refurbish" because for me "upgrade" dont work without fc and system carshes.
Wait around 5 minutes and your G4 is back with MM, clean and fresh.
Thanks hannsheinz for the reply.
I solved this night in this way (very similar to your suggestion):
- I downloaded and installed LG Bridge from the official website.
- I pull out the battery to power off the device.
- I reinsert the battery in the device, without power it on.
- I plug in the usb while pressing volume up button.
- The device entered the download mode and LG Bridge recognized it.
- I press "update error recovery" in Lg Bridge (bottom right in the Software update tab).
- The procedure will take a while according to your pc and internet connection.
- At the end my G4 "breathed again and still breathing"
Very similar to what hannsheinz suggested.
Thanks to all

Strange issue - can't reboot

So after flashing TWRP via LG G3 AUTOREC to install Fulmics 1.5 on my D850, my phone has been unable to reboot or for that matter, power on cleanly. The only way I can power on after a shutdown is to remove the battery, press the power button for ~20 seconds, then put the battery back in and power on.
I reinstalled the latest TWRP using default locations via TWRP manager, but I still can't reboot or power on cleanly.
I've never encountered this before and I can't seem to find any solutions.
Can someone help?
Fulmics does run...and for that matter, it's a great ROM with EVERYTHING working, however, I just want to be able to boot/reboot without pinching a frightened turtle for fear of a brick...
I think this is a ROM error. If it's not it is a device error.
But first try to flash a KDZ file from the original LG firmware and then try again to boot the normal way. If you still can boot by the power button then it is a device error.
Thank me if I helped you!
I can reboot cleanly if I use the reboot option within the TWRP manager app instead of the reboot within the ROM...

I had the same problem,
I found that flashing the bootstack make the reboot work again!
The thing is that autorec don't install every file needed to boot/reboot the phone properly, so you need to install the missing one to make it work again.
Its not a rom problem.
OK. Silly question - how do I flash just the boot stack? Is that flashable via TWRP? Do I need to extract the stack from somewhere?

You need to extract it from the KDZ and install it manually, but maybe someone did a flashable zip somewhere for the d850

Wipe ROM and reinstall Android in LG Smartphone

Hi, I'm trying to find a way to try to recover an LG D680 smartphone. I have a weird problem with it. It used to get stuck on LG's Logo boot. I used Download Mode and LG Mobile Tool to fix it and update it. Everything was ok but 1 month later this happened again, but this time it cannot get fixed.
I tried to reinstall software through KDZ and flash tools (2014) in Normal and CSE mode. I tried Iusacell (AT&T) images (V10A_, V10B_, V20A_ and V20B_) wich are Jelly and Kitkat versions of images. Last I tried to reinstall with V20A_ Factory Free image and still problem, but now there's another problem. It seem that there are not really hardware issues since device is correctly recognized in Windows System, can enter Download Mode, LG Flash Tool can still manipulate hardware (Install, reboot and finish install). The new problem is that even after reinstalling any of the images it keep looped and stuck at the "Android Hard Reset" icon, the one of the Android with the red triangle.
I tried using fastboot and adb but devide is not recognized by fastboot device even after installing drivers.
Is there another way to completely wipe ROM and install System and Boot clean? I already have system.img and boot.img files, but can't find a way to do this nor what I do works.

If it is looping on LG's boot animation, then you should boot into stock recovery and do a factory reset from there - saved me from sending my E988 to service last time I flashed stock. Try one of these recovery combos: Vol Up + Power, Vol Up + Vol Down + Power, Vol Up + Home + Power, one of those should work. My E988 uses Vol Up+ Power - have to press both while device is powered off, and keep them pressed until capacitive buttons flash twice. Not sure how will that work on D680 though (is that a G Pro Lite?)

Yep! It's an G Pro Lite. I'm still trying some of th combinations. What is stock recovery? Should it show more options than just hard reset?

If it's anypart similar to ones found on E98x, it will have only hard reset, update install and reboot options. I really don't know much about Lite series, probably there is more info about recovery in their subforum here.
