Hello guys, i'm searchin for a good 2a car charger for my nexus 5... do you know one?
anyone?
Currently looking at this: 5v 2.1a XTar USB Car Adapter
However, It's still in the shipment process. Will be receiving it in a week.
I trust these guys, personally. They make amazing chargers for batteries I use on a daily basis.
Hate to do this to you, but If I don't reply back within a 2 weeks, that means it turned out perfectly.
Personally, I think it's going to be great.

The blackberry ain't a CAR charger bud.
I'd suggest the Anker car charger.

Motorola 2amp car charger is a great charger. I found it on ebay almost 2 years ago for about 6$ and it's still going strong

I'm currently using a Samsung charger, it's around $12 here in Sweden.
A two amp charger won't make a difference, Qualcomm Quick Charge units make a huge difference, however.

so is Nexus 5 a quick Charge unit?
There IS a blackberry car charger. I currently own one a d used to get near 1.6A on it. I've never gotten close to 2A even with the highly acclaimed 2A BlackBerry wall charger but the 1.6A was good enough for the n5.
Model no on mine is ACC-48181-001

Looking at grabbing a couple extra car chargers and came across this:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=1083301&p_id=6152&seq=1&format=2#description
There were a couple of reviews stating it works on the EVO, but I'm concerned about it being 1100mAh vs. 1000.
You'll be fine. Devices using power draw amps, chargers don't push them. Your car's alternator is probably around 70 amps output, yet the fuse on your radio is commonly 10 amps or less.
Its not rated at 1100 mAh its rated at 600 mAh.
What is the guide line for buying a car charger for the evo when you plan to primarily use gps via Google navigation?
I skipped the cheap eBay chargers thinking it'd be a waste, yet here I am on my third charger from different manufactures trying to find one that will chArge while using the gps.
What is everyone else doing? Are we just supposed to not expect these evo to not charge while using gps?
Also, today I drove about 35 minutes while using gps and using one of my new charges and it didn't charge the battery at all. Also I noticed that when I reached my destination that my evo wasn't charging at all, intact the charge led on the phone was off...and my phone seemed hot.
Sorry to hi jack but my question seems relavant.

I have had good luck with a Palm car charger I picked up at Radio Shack on clearance. It actually puts out enough to keep up with constant navigation use. I have actually had Google navigation running, while streaming Pandora to my stereo, and my Evo was not discharging, display was at 25%. It got pretty warm, but didn't lose any power, it didn't gain much either.
Real chargers start at 99ยข on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SPRINT-OEM-...584865?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20b3911b61
Circuitry in the batteries themselves limit how much amperage they'll allow in: more charger will not increase the power, nor shorten the charge time. It's a circumstance of using lithium as a power cell.
So your saying that a 300mah charger will charge our evos as fast as a 1 amp charger?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I recommend getting one of them htc charger that has the blue led htc letter on the back. Or get the sprint one that is very long. You can find them both on ebay for under $10. I have the htc one which charges quickly but fit too loose in the cigarette lighter and sometime loose contact. You can also try using a power converter and charge your phone using the oem home charger.
Unfortunately our evo does become hot when using gps for extended periods. I solved it buying a soundgate m2 mount and putting it near the car's a/c vent. Shouldn't be a problem when the weather gets cooler.

Since the Verizon Nexus is out, is anyone not going to be using the supplied wall plug charger adapter because they have something else/better ? I bought mine from the UK and it came with this behemoth sized "international" adapter that makes weird noises when it rapes/charges my battery :x
if any1 has a charger they dont really want, id be willing to throw in a few bucks for it :] plus shipping of course
As far as I know (and please correct me if I'm wrong) you can use any Android charger with micro USB. In fact, I used my OG Droid car charger on the way home and have it plugged into the Droid wall charger as I type this. It's working just fine.
So if you have a charger from an old Android phone, try it out.
p.s.
I would refrain from using that euro charger. You might fry your battery. Happened to a friend of mine from Australia earlier this year when he first moved here and didn't have a US phone.

I actually don't. I sold/returned all my old phones along with their adapters. I bought a $25 charger but its not "compatible" with my phone so, instead of charging at its usual 1amp, it only does 5mAh
Here's a link to a wall charger from Amazon,
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Trave...E70I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323972023&sr=8-1
$3.12.. looks like the same charger from Galaxy S1 and Nexus S.
Comparing the USB from Nexus S & Galaxy Nexus.. the Nexus S has a longer USB cable.
I'm interested in this as well. I'd like to identify another charger that can charge at full speed so I can replace that bulky U.K. charger.

Should be .7amp, the proper voltage for this phone.

Hi, i'm a heavy user some days, so I need a compact charger I can put on my keyring. I thought I had the perfect one of eBay for ~$3 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200720521235?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649)
However, after several tests using "Charger Timer" I figured out that it only chargers at 500ma-thus making it take a very long time to charge. The point in this charger is to provide me with a quick battery boost ad-hoc, but it's pointless as it takes 1hr20 for a full charger(stock at 1000ma takes 40 minutes)
The seller offered me a replacement, but I'm not sure whether to take it incase I wait weeks then find out its the same low-output charger.
This is a popular charger (dx, eBay)-does anyone else own it? Does it work for you at 1.0a?
Can anyone suggest a cheap alternative compact charger?

i dont know if this would work for you or not, but I just ordered the Anker Astro Slim 3 and it has two ports that will charge at 1 Amp each. It is slim enough that i have been able to charge my Galaxy S3 while using the phone and stacking the charger directly behind it. So far, i am very pleased with it. I am attaching a couple of pictures so that you can see it. I am charging my nexus 10 and my nexus S in the picture. Hope this is helpful
Thanks for that!
But I'm after something much more compact.
I'm really surprised this isn't a common thing-having it on my keyring (even if 0.5a) has been incredibly handy.
Any other suggestions?

Has anyone got a suggestion for me yet?
I've finally received the one I ordered, and no surprise, despite being advertised as 1a, it charges slooowly at 0.5a.
Size of it was prefect- fit nicely on my keyring and wasn't even bulky
And then after a week, it broke...
I like Anker stuff as well since I reviewed a lot of their products (in my signature link). The problem is that it sound like you are not from US, Australia from your ebay link? That is always an issue because a lot of US companies deal only with a few international amazon. You mentioned DX.com - love their products as well, reviewed a lot of their stuff, always a pleasure to deal with, and they ship to Australia without a problem.
Here is my thought about your 500mA charging. Are you sure its not a cable? Most of today's chargers are 1A-2A (all new Galaxy stuff charges at fast 2A speed) while tablets like Nexus 7 use at least 1A. So it's easy to get 1A charging speed out of most of today's chargers since they all use a common voltage/current regulator chips inside. BUT, you will LIMIT your current with usb cable. A lot of these cheap cables are designed for computers, and a common USB2.0 PC port only outputs 500mA, and cables are made out of thin wire. Thin wire will limit your current, will overheat, and will create other problems. For 2A you need to use USB cable with a thicker wires. So just look around your house for different usb cables to confirm. Usually the OEM cable that comes with your phone will be designed for max charging speed of your phone. I like buying Monoprice cables, but again not sure if they ship overseas.
At DX, look for the HTC One chargers. After lots of frustrating purchases those were the only that I could find that delivered the mentioned current.
I think you may have trouble finding one that fits your country's wall socket.
Have you tried different cables? My S3 draws anything between 0.3 and 1A from my charger depending on the cable I use.
I was looking into this type of charger does anybody use one?
I was also wondering if it would work with a quicksand case ?
http://m.ebay.ca/itm/131118614195?nav=SEARCH
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Yup, I've got that one in black. Works just fine with my Quicksand cases. Just to let you know, it only ships with the charger, no micro USB cable, and no power adapter. Most included USB cables that ship with Qi chargers are crap anyway. So I suggest if you get a Qi charger with a cable, that you replace it with a better one anyway.
I'll have a review up with a comparison between several of my Qi chargers some time next week.

Is it worth the price ? I was going to use the stock USB cord anyways
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
In terms of performance it's good. Works just like any other 1A output Qi charger I've got. As long as a Qi charger receives sufficient input power (good AC adapter, good cable) and has 1A output, all Qi chargers basically perform relatively the same.
Price wise, you can't really get much lower than that. The one you posted, I got in black for $12.00 including shipping, but you can't really get it at that price anymore. Cost wise though, that's still a pretty good deal.
It is one of the larger Qi chargers I've got though. So keep that in mind. I use this one by my bed as it's easier to make sure I've placed the phone centred on a larger pad when I'm half asleep.
Here's a size comparison with the phone on it.
Thank you for all the input. Do you think the stock USB cord will be sufficient?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, the stock cord is a great cable. I use that USB cable with this charger as well. It's connected to a 2A AC adapter, into a powerbar by my bed.
Where, if any of you have boughten an original charger. I packed and moved half way across the country, one thing I forgot was my original charger. I have a 2amp Samsung charger, but still doesn't charge fast enough.
I'm sorry, I don't know of a seller for the original charger but perhaps your problem is that the OPO charger is 2.1A (2100mA) so that might be it.

I use an Anker Astro 12000mHa power pack to charge mine and it charges in the same 1h50m from 2%-100% as the 1+1 charger. It goes from 2%-90% in 1h20m but like all phones the last 10% is where the charge rate slows.
I use the smart charge port on it by the way.
Blackberry Play book 2A chargers work insanely well, and ridiculously fast. Full charge in under 45 minutes.
Search Amazon for the 3 pack for around $14.
