5.01 first impressions&battery life - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys what u think ??
i think its superfast but ugly.

What are your quadrant scores? I seem to remember getting better scores on kit kit. I am only getting 5387 which sucks. Frame rate is low also.

39000 but debloted over 54000

It was laggy at first but i factory reset and now its buttery smooth . I like it so far

How do you get the score so high? mine seems to only get up to 28000.
Not sure what you exactly mean by debloated but I've froze all the useless applications plus some other services.

What happened to all the new things I was supposed to see with this new update? Like multiple users, quick settings, etc. Sprint disabled all the good stuff as always? This update sucks

Is the mute option still available in the notification menu or using the volume rocker? Or is it stick with only vibrate?

Theree an zip in the forums to remove all the junk apps removes about 50 apps n frees 600 gb ram

I just ran ANTUTU and got 52408, stock L rom with stock kernel, no debloat. Just disabled some internal apps..
This score was actually better than KK for me on a custom ROM (think I was slightly over 50K
I initially upgraded without a factory reset, but noticed some issues so I ODIN back to NK2, reset, OTA to L, reset again, then set up phone and restored apps via titanium. All bugs dispersed after doing it that way. Took extra time, but seems to be well worth it now.

Are you noticing lag after 4.0.2 update?

I'm not talking major lag, just a tiny bit when browsing the apps deck or widgets.
Yes, especially when scrolling through the Widget screens. Also had 2 Launcher force closes since flashing 4.0.2 Yesterday. Hope 4.0.3 will take care of that..
Yeah I noticed that as well... it's very slight, but it was noticeable for me right away.
Did you guys have yakju from the start? or switched over from another build?
I immediately noticed it with the keyboard. Slightly annoying .
Same here. GO Launcher is really bad. Stock is a bit "sticky" too.

You guys need to go into settings, into developer options and turn on " Force GPU rendering". It will speed things up.

Maybe one of the reasons for crashing was the acceleration and they disabled something to cure it but made worse. Sigh.

Switched to the latest version of the 4.0.1 stock build, and things are back to normal again. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't in my head lol
I think I'm gonna wait it out with this image till google releases 4.0.3. Because they obviously broke something in 4.0.2 :S
the only lag Ive really experienced is with google voice commands. After hitting thehome screen button you have to wait a second before hitting the microphone- if you hit it right away nothing happens. Maybe a little lag with the keyboard in the firt 30-45 seconds the phones on but thats it for me. Now signal thats another issue and that ones annoying.

It has to do with the CPU governors, not everyone seems to be experiencing the lag issue which is weird. Got 15min left on mikes 2.1.1 will see if his release runs better, if not restoring to 4.0.1 until 4.0.3
Just rooted mine and my speed issues seem to be gone on 4.0.2. No idea as to why that is.
I too noticed this on the homescreen, browsing apps/widgets, web browsing... I use a live wallpaper and when I scroll to the left or right the live wallpaper stutters and just pressing the home button repeatedly while on home screen... the live wallpaper stutters...
like someone else said... I think it's something to do with the adjustments they made to the CPU governor
Just upgraded to it 10 minutes ago
Android nub question alert: lots of people here flash in a moments notice, so are you backing up your settings/apps/data etc using some app to restore after flashing? If so, what r u using?

I personally use MyBackupPro, works great for me. Titanium Backup is a very good app as well. Also suggest to always do/have a Nandroid Backup to go back to just in case.
UPDATE: Anybody that's interested, 2.1.1 eliminated most of the lag I was experiencing on Stock 4.0.2.
thank you sir!

Android 4.0.3 + Franco's kernel is a speed demon!

Just recently upgraded to a 4.0.3 build and wow... The difference is tremendous. 4.0.2 felt really smooth and lag-free but this is really taking advantage of the hardware. It's by the far the smoothest UI I have ever used on a mobile device. Android has really come a long way! I don't think I could ever go back to using a Gingerbread device again
In case anyone is interested in giving it a shot, this rom + this kernel produce amazing results.
EDIT: Removed the video. Just realized some of the phone numbers are readable.
Can't wait for my Nexus, gonna unlock bootloader , root it, and then install 4.0.3

4.03 by itself is a lot better.. recent app button lag is practically gone from that alone..
Franco's kernel does help, of course.. but it was better than 4.02 even without it.

Yeap, I was on 4.0.3 alone before switching to franco's kernel. Both are much faster than 4.0.2. The kernel just gives it a little extra oomph.
As an CDMA/LTE user I guess I can just watch.
Nice, I'm going to wait for the official OTA or flash it manually once it's available because I don't want to lose all my settings.
I NEED 4.0.3 NAO!! omg I want it so bad!!!1! j/k
But seriously, I want it!
Can you show a vid of you pinch-zooming/scrolling around a heavy website like The Verge's desktop?

Still a bit too early to tell but I hear good things from other members.
Another +1 here for this combo. Loving it.
Turns out I also got a nice CPU that is happy to run with low voltage. Currently at 1000mv @ 1200mhz and testing.
edit: 900mv was fine, 850mv was instant crash. Going to settle for 925mhz.
Now to continue testing the other frequencies.

Those additional shortcuts (eg. to bookmarks) in quick controls in the browser, are they part of 4.0.3 update? I've only got three icons there with 4.0.1 official.

Quick controls is the feature you activate in your browser. Just go to settings, the last option there is the Labs. Go there and you'll find two "experimental" features, quick controls and full screen. Both are pretty decent. With quick controls you just touch the edge of the screen anywhere on the left side or right side and they'll show up giving you quick shortcuts to settings, tabs and to the address bar.

Resolution To High For GPU

I've just purchased this phone and overall I like it. One thing I think is holding this beast back is the resolution. The GPU seems to seriously struggle - it's even noticeable when switching apps, navigating the settings, etc. It just seems like it doesn't have quite enough grunt.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar thing?
I was using an Xperia Z2 earlier today and everything seemed far more fluid and smooth. I'm honestly considering selling my 2 day old G3 and switching to a Z2.

I recorded a video of my screen via some app. In running nova with animations at the fastest for the launcher because I don't care about transitions. Is still very fast to open spots as you can see below. I'm sure you can see that it's fluid for the most part besides my jerk's between menus scrolling like I have ADHD

[Q] thermal throttling sprint lg g3

okay so im trying to turn off thermal throttling on my sprint lg g3. i type in the code 5689#*990# to get to the hidden menu, but my hidden menu only lists: DEVICE TEST, ELT TEST, FACTORY RESET, LOG SERVICE, and WVDRM KEYBOX. do i have to enable something in order to see the other options or can i just not get them on my model?

In shortcut master lite search "thermal" - two results should be returned. Select the following option (should be the second result returned): com.lge.hiddenmenu.thermalsensor.ThermalMitigation
Try my CPU thermal throttling mod to improve performance and eliminate lag here is the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/thermal-mod-t2907363

A quick tip for you.
If your phones rooted, then use a file explorer with root permissions and go into /system/app & delete system apps that are pre-installed that you dont need... Only delete whats safe, for example Google Search, Zoe, etc
Is this normal ? After update to 5.1 system ram usage around 1 gig !!!!!! on 5.0.2 was 500 m
