Hello,
Last month, I've encoutered that Google released updated version of Google Voice Search & Google Maps.
Right away, i've search for the update in my market, but searching for that products results "unkown app" or other apps results with similar names, not the Google's one
even if I got the actual link to the application on my phone, it direct me to the market and the same result as above.
My phone isn't rooted! (for right now...)
My Android version is: 2.2 (2.29.405.5 - got the latest update HTC released last month)
My current version of these two apps:
Google Voice Seach: 1.6.0
Google Maps: 4.4.0
i've pruchased my phone in Germany (sim free)
Someone can explain to me what is the problem?
Will I get the update someday?
The market is "connected" to the german android market source?

This is a list of all the homebrew apps I could find on the forums and from outside the xda community. If you find any more that are not listed, please let me know in the comments.
To install these, you will need to have an unlocked device, and then a .xap installer on your pc. There are some .xap installers under Desktop Run Programs in this post.
These apps are the property of their respected makers. I hold no credit for these applications, I am only putting them all in 1 location.

*All third party apps come as-is. There is no guarantee that they will work, and they could permanently damage your phone.
Nice work!
would love if this was stickied!
Great idea! Just wanted point out though, that the U-Verse xap is outdated and won't work anymore. In that same thread I posted the new, working version (1600).

Great thread, need a Mod to sticky it now.
In case of SurfCube 3D browser, it is also available on the Marketplace, and last I heard, it wasn't open source, so isn't that technically against XDA policy?

Make sure that you also have the windows developer tools installed as well. It works for some but not for others. It is still in beta.
Walkman 7 will remain homebrew too. Its not getting trough the marketplace but ill continue development for sideloaders. You can add it to the list if you want. Great list btw I hope this will boost development for great apps more
+ 1 vote for making this thread on the "sticky's"

yeah it stopped working so i had to pull it, now it works again (i fixed it) but it got rejected during submission process. So it will probably never see the marketplace again, but it will be available as a side-load app.
Hello,
Since I update my Desire with the official Gingerbread version (2 months ago), the Market is still with the old version and never updated automatically.
It seems like the Market will not update to Google play either.
I would like to know if you have the same problem.
Thanks.
David
Deal with it man. Since you are on stock rom, you probably wouldnt like the file size of the new market (Play Store) anyway. About 4MB is the size. But if you insist, a good searching on XDA should get you the file for you to update manually.
via xda app
For me it always takes a couple of days.
Google does not rollout to all gazillions android devices at once, there are some device specific delays.
So most of the time I update manually by downloading the APK which is always posted in blogs and forums.
It's safe, because your android will only allow updating system APKs which are signed by the same key as the original system package.

Hello,
I'm looking for TeamViewer's QuickSupport (QS) Add-on for HTC devices. Unforunately I can't access Google Play to download it (to see it for yourself, look for com.teamviewer.quicksupport.addon.htc)
Does anyone know where else I can find it from a reliable source, not a random site that might have repackaged it?
Or, could someone who has the APK file tell me who signed theirs, and then I can determine if the copy I downloaded from a shady site is legitimate?
Or, someone with the APK file could post its size in bytes, and I could use that to verify the one I downloaded,
Or, does anyone know if the Samsung version will work on HTC phones? I can get the Samsung version directly from TeamViewer's website (but not the HTC version).
For those wondering what exactly this is: I have the main TeamViewer QuickSupport app installed. It does not include screen-sharing; to do that, I need the add-on. Also, for the record, TeamViewer support says the addon is available only in Europe.
Many thanks in advance!
P.S. I posted this question in another forum, but it got zero responses and is now on the fifth page. That forum was general Android Q&A and dev, so I thought an HTC forum might be a better choice. I'm new to XDA-Developers; I hope it's ok to re-post someplace else.
For anyone who encounters this situation in the future, here is my experience. The short version: I couldn't confirm the APK I downloaded was the authentic HTC add-on, but I installed it, it works, and I see no signs of malware (though malware still could be there).
---------
Here's the long version:
NOTE: To make any of the links below work, you'll need to remove the extra space I inserted. The forum software won't let me post links.
The phone
- HTC
- Model: Remix (Verizon's version of fthe Mini 2), though I doubt the model matters much
- Android v4.4.2, as provided by HTC
- Not rooted
1) I tried the QS Add-on for Samsung (even though I'm using an HTC phone), which I could download directly from TeamViewer.com (see link below). It installed, App Manager saw it, but TeamViewer QuickSupport (TVQS) did not utilize it.
Link to the Samsung add-on at teamviewer.com:
download.teamviewer. com/download/QuickSupport_Add-On_Samsung.apk
TVQS's Advanced screen still displayed the option to download and install the add-on (which requires a Google Play account AFAICT)
I saw these messages in TVQS's log (accessible via the Advanced screen). I could have overlooked other messages:
I/RcAddonInfo.isAddonInstalled(): name not found
I/MainActivity.onCreate(): installable addon found and not installed
The Samsung add-on's version number was 8.x; TVQS's is 10.x and the HTC add-on's is 9.x, so perhaps it's a simple version incompatibility.
2) I downloaded the APK for QS Add-on for HTC, but from a website which gave me no idea of its integrity (i.e., maybe it was repackaged with malware). Here are two sources I found, which appeared to be the same file:
oppo.apk. vc/Android/App/com.teamviewer.quicksupport.addon.htc
apk4fun.m5f. net/download-sv1/com.teamviewer.quicksupport.addon.htc.html
3) I tried to verify the APK's integrity by comparing it to the one from Google Play. I didn't have the Google Play APK, so I used the information on the webpage.
Google Play link: play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.quicksupport.addon.htc
The version numbers (9.0.2045) and release dates (26 Aug 2014) were the same at Google and at the websites of the APK downloads.
Google Play website reported size: 128K; Downloaded APK size: 128K (131,252 bytes)
4) I tried to verify the APK's integrity by looking at the cert used to sign it. I didn't see any red flags, but nothing confirmed HTC as the signer:
The cert (in all APK's, AFAIK) is found here: /meta-inf/cert.rsa
I didn't have a tool to view the cert info, so I opened the file in a hex editor and extracted these strings:
TW1
Taoyuan1
Android1
android @htc.com
HTC is headquartered in Taoyuan, Taiwan, so there is nothing suspicious in those strings, but they certainly don't confirm authenticity. I don't think they would be hard to spoof.
For comparison, I did the same with the Samsung add-on. They match the questionable HTC APK in that the phone manufacturer and not TeamViewer signed that APK; on the other hand the Samsung signature mentions Samsung by name while the questionable HTC APK does not mention HTC.
KR1
South Korea1
Suwon City1
Samsung Corporation1
DMC1
Samsung Cert1
android.os @samsung.com
* FWIW I also found this in TVQS's log, I think from its startup routine (to be clear, the following is for the TVQS app and not for any add-on AFAICT). The APK for the TVQS is signed by TeamViewer; perhaps this is HTC's signature for the Android distribution? Then where is HTC mentioned? If it's Google's signature, why is the location HTC's headquarters (Taoyuan, Taiwan)?
CN = Android
OU = Android
O = Android
L = Taoyuan
ST = Taoyuan
C = TW
5) Not seeing any red flags and not having other options, I installed the questionable HTC APK. It works fine and I see no signs of malware, though certainly malware could be hidden or the signs might not have appeared (I installed it only a few hours ago).
Search Google, many sites with the APK file (QS Add-On: HTC APK). I have installed, it works.
Please read the full post, including the FAQ, before installing anything.
DO NOT post any direct links to the files that are found in this thread.
I found this in Crackberry by a dev Cobalt232 and the files were made for Blackberry Z10 but works with Nokia X2 too (Tested). Maybe will work with Nokia X, XL,etc too.

HOW TO INSTALL
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Download the 3 files listed below to your Blackberry device by clicking on the download links. Then install and run the files in the described order. Make sure that you have allowed installation of 3rd party apps in Blackberry settings -> App Manager -> App installation. Read the tips in the FAQ if you encounter any problems during installation process.
Step 1: Add a Google system account to your device
Install com.google.android.gsf.login. Run the app and login with your Google credentials. The app will close (minimize) if the step completed successfully (may take a few seconds). You should now be able to see your Google account in Blackberry Settings -> Accounts -> Third Party Accounts.
Step 2: Register your device with Google Play
Install cobalt.blackberry.googleID. Run the app and register your device with Google Play. Close the app after successfull registration.
Step 3: Install Google Play Store
Install com.android.vending. Run and enjoy the Play Store!
All 3 apps MUST remain installed on your device otherwise Google Play store will not work.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Does this work on any device?
Play Store works on any Blackberry device running OS 10.3 or better. OS 10.2.x is not supported.
I can't login with Google Account Manager
Assuming that you have entered the correct password, you now have the following options:
1) Turn OFF 2-Step Verification for your Google account here: https://myaccount.google.com/security#signin
OR
2) create an app specific password and use that password to login.
I downloaded an app from Play Store and now it's asking for Google Play Services
Google Play services is a framework that is provided by Google to help developers to speed up and simplify app development. Some apps that you download from Play Store may require Google Play services (mostly apps from Google, apps that display some kind of geographic map and apps that require Google+ login). These apps can be patched and will work to a certain extent. Read this post for more details:
Cobalt's official Google Apps landing page
Play Store is randomly popping up and wants to install updates for my apps
If this happens, you have turned on automatic app updates in Play Store settings. To turn them off, go to Play Store settings -> Automatic app updates and disable updates. You will still receive notifications in the hub if updates are available, but they won't automatically download.
Play Store doesn't display previously installed or purchased apps in "My Apps" section
Close Play Store, then go to Blackberry Settings -> App Manager -> Device Monitor -> Storage -> Play Store and hit "Clear Data". In general, app data must always be cleared if you update the Blackberry Google ID app or if you do a re-checkin. This is required to update the localy cached ID with the new ID on the Server.
Play Store is displaying "Error while retrieving information from server [DF-XXYYZZ]"
To fix this problem, go through all of the following steps:
1) Close Play Store
2) Go to Blackberry Settings -> App Manager -> Device Monitor -> Storage -> Play Store and hit "Clear Data"
3) Run Blackberry Google ID and unregister the the device
4) In Blackberry Google ID tap on your email address -> select your account -> remove the account in top right menu.
5) Back on main screen of Blackberry Google ID hit checkin and follow the instructions
Are you logging my account data or stealing my money?
NO data is logged or transferred anywhere else than to the Google servers. Your data and your money is secure.
Is this all for free?
Yes, it is! But please consider that the dev has spent hundreds of hours doing the reverse engineering of all this stuff, patching it, rewriting code and testing it. So if you really appreciate his work, I would be happy if you donate a few bucks. But it's up to you.
