[Q] How do i unlock sprint samsung tab S ? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
As the title says, How do i unlock my Samsung tab S from Sprint so that i can use it on AT&T or internationally? I've searched all over google and this forum itself but i couldn't find a post that explains how. Is it possible to unlock this device by adb or other methods of unlocking such as editing the hex? Any help is very appreciated!
I'm sorry if this post is in the wrong sub forum or anything. I'm new here.
Best regards.

Possibilities
This is what I found out:
The chip in my Sprint Note 3 and Samsung Tab S 10.5 is similar and when compared the base bands were different. I unlocked my Note 3 using SSU. I tried the same on the Tab S it did say unlock but nothing happened when I installed a Local SIM ( Airtel )
The other thing I would like to point out is that SM-T807V, SM-T807R4 and SM-T807P all use the same chipsets i.e, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, and one has the possibility to choose the GSM/Global-Mode on the SM-T807V( Verizon ) I am not aware of the U.S Cellular (i.e,SM-T807R4) though. If someone could shed some light on that.
So I would assume there are 2 ways to go ahead with this, one would either be to downgrade the baseband to that of the Note 3 then install Android 4.4.2 and then use SSU to unlock ( not to sure on this method just gave it a thought though ) and the other would be to flash the ROM on the SM-T807P with the Stock ROM of the SM-807V but then we are road blocked by the Kernal so possibly we might need to fabricate a new Kernal for this.
This is my first post on xda Hope what I said has helped. Do let me know if anyone has any development on this because I am stuck too.

Several issues with the plan.
You are unlikely to be able to flash the baseband from the Note3. There is no firmware available for the t807v and no source code.

How about the SM-T807R4 ? Can we use that ?

I'd be pretty sure the bootloader would reject it.

But doesn't the SM-T807P have an unlocked bootloader?

It does, but the carrier versions seem to be more picky with what they'll flash.
The only way is to try it. Make a twrp backup then go for it.

why the the Exynos 5420 is so bad compare to the qualcomm snapdragon when it comes to optimization?

Sorry, I am new to all that but i could give it a try. I'll let you know sometime in December the Tab has gone in for a service, the battery seems to have expanded and my top left screen has poped out and then the touch stopped working and my screen went all gibberish.

Hey i had called sprint and all they told me was that this device isn't ment for global use and it only supports CDMA and LTE, and that was a shocker because the verizon one supports global use

Has anyone come up with an unlock for this yet ? I am stuck with a locked device ??

You need to be in the correct forum. This is for the US Sprint version. You need to look for the international version section.

[Q] Help a Noob - Flash or Update Three UK G3

Hi,
After reading a lot of threads and getting confused when they go off at a tangent could someone please help me.
I have a Three UK 16gb G3 and it's stuck on 10a firmware with no OTA or PC Suite update available, what I would like to know:
Is it possible to update it to a newer version manually without losing my data?
If so what software & file(s) do I need to do this?
After this will it get future OTA's or will I have to do it manually every time?
One last question:
Is there a way to flash it with the firmware for the sim free UK model (to get rid of the three bootscreen) and get OTA's in future, preferably without wiping my data?
The easier the better please as i'm new to flashing androids and would rather not have to root or mess about with anything too complex.
Many thanks in advance to those that take the time to help!
From what I understand you can flash an international European firmware and you'll get OTA updates. The only issue is that Three use different bands for lte than other euro carriers e.g. EE. This means you'll be without 4g unless you resort to a bit of hacking the build prop.
Ah ha

If you flash the stock firmware that does not mean you get OTA updates as it's done by IMEI and to remove the 3 splash screens you have to be rooted and remove the /data/.OP/H3G_COM folder

SuperSU for broadband' sm-t805k/t805l/t805l

Hi, I am curious if anyone can answer this question.
I am a deliberation from obtaining the Tab S version SM-T805K/SM-T805S/SM-T805L launched in Korea with the Exynos 5433 processor. The article here explain this product: phonearena . com/news/Speedier-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S-with-Exynos-5433-processor-and-LTE-A-to-be-launched-soon_id61316.; this aricle has an inacccuracy probably from translation, but it supports 'broadband LTE-A', which combines three LTE bands, instead of two like the regular LTE-A for 1.5x increased throughput. Anyway, the release is similar to the Galaxy S5 'broadband LTE-A' with model number SM-G906(S/K/L)
Obviously chainfire's autoroot package for the SM-T805 doesn't work due to different processor.s However, it shares the same processor as the Note 4, so I am curious if there is a method to botain root suing existing downloads and by using TWRP. This amounts to a general question. Is root processor-specific? Does one of the root packages for Note 4 work? Or if a new root package needs to be written for the model altogether.
Please let me know your thoughts.
No the root method is not cpu specific, but it is device specific. However the TWRP method is not as long as there is a twrp version for your device that can be installed. This requires an unlocked boot loader, it's not common for Samsung to lock bootloaders. It's usually only US models that have locked bootloaders.
There is a firmware update for the SM-T805S at Samsung Updates, if you download it, extract the recovery image from it, send it to me and I'll build TWRP for your device.

Wow thank you so much! I have linked it here.
https: // drive.google. com/file/d/0B2CszRKCbxDSM0RuVHI4SHlfWTg/view?usp=sharing
Just for my own clarity, the TWRP version is not CPU or device -specific, but requires a version that can be installed; would you please care to elaborate?
Ah, there is some ambiguity in the thread.
So, the TWRP recovery itself is device specific? and then rooting can be done by sdcard method in TWRP with current version of chainfire's SuperSU zip?
Thank you.
To boot twrp or any recovery it has to be built for a device using files specific to that device such as the kernel. It has to built and configured so that the kernel can boot and then boot recovery. It needs to know the partition layout of that device and such things as the display resolution.
Ashyx is an awesome recovery builder. He built many recoveries such as a twrp mod and also twrp for snapdragon tab s. Without him, some devices may never gotten an custom recovery
I notice that the partition structure seems to be slightly different in the new version.
When you get your tablet I will need you to run a command on the device to get some info.
Hopefully then I can build it.

Just wondering, can it be done from the device itself (no ADB)? If so I can try to get someone to do this on a display model, but availability is questionable. Plus, for some reason, the SM-T805S model has mysteriously disappeared from the Samsung Korea website in the past couple weeks (http:// www.samsung. com/sec/consumer/mobile-tablet/tablet/filter/). The SM-T805K seems to be the most available.
This is the model I am most likely to get. If I got the SM-T805K is there a way to get a hand on the firmware through Kies or other means?
Could you post your commands here? Someone with the device is bound to read this forum and run the commands, but it may take a while. But who knows
Thank you for working on this! :good:
The s,k,l variable is probably just carrier variants. The actual part of the firmware I need is likely the same.

Yes, they are are carrier variants (SK Telecom, KT Olleh, LG U+).
So, does it require ADB to do? what were the commands? :fingers-crossed:
(I spose PM if needed. Thanks!)
You can run the commands on the device itself. It would be best if you have the device because the output would be quite long so a screenshot would be best.
Sorry I havent gotten back sooner. I will report back here when I get the device. :silly:
No worries
Sorry to jump in. Just one question. If the tab is designed/locked for a specific carrier, is there a way to unlock it to any carrier without changing the original ROM?
Thinking of buying this model also, however, im not from Korea!

I've read on other forums that people have used their korean-carrier device abroad with foreign sims without issue.
This si just a conjecture, but I wonder if we load a custom rom if the device would even be carrier locked anymore. If we delete the hidden.img and cache.img from the rom, if this would solve it? Also, I have seen rooted apps that claim to unlock your device. For me, I consider calling the carrier to have the device unlcoked an option as well.
Using this deivce in the United sttates it is more relevant to note the LTE bands. AT&T would be the only compatible arrier on band 17, and the network would not support LTE-A or broadband LTE-A, but LTE-A is only available in three cities as far as I know.

This forum is terrible for lag, due to all the java crap and ads running on it. The stock browser deals with it the best imo.
However I use the XDA app which provides a smoother experience.

I'm sorry to disappoint. No, I haven't. I was just thinking of getting one the next time I go. depending on the circumtances and this would give me time to do something with the 6 tablets that I currently have.
Ebay acquired a site called gmarket.co.kr a few years back where retailers in south korea sell crap online; shipping is only in-country, but the other obstacle is making payment; you owuld have to wire your funds internationally, but there are fees on top of fees depending on how many banks it has to cross separate from daily forex changes. The cost for a single unit would probably end up to be a thousand dollars. For the shipping, I know people who are among the 27,000 american military deployed over regions in south korea, and through them shipping can amount to a APO or FPO address with USPS Priority Mail.

Canadian H812 Root

Hello Everyone,
Please forgive me if this topic is elsewhere, but I am hoping to get some assistance from the community. I have been searching for a method of obtaining root on my Canadian Bell LG G4 H812 running Marshmallow.
I saw a few methods before Marshmallow rolled out to Canadian Carriers involving extracting system image, injecting root, and replacing the system image on my device. I figured, when MM rolled out, there would be a better method found of doing this, but to my dismay, it now appears to be impossible on MM.
Can anyone confirm if root can be obtained on this device?
I am willing to downgrade to Lollipop to make this happen
Why is there little to no development for this model?
Is the model interchangeable with another LG G4 that root /unlocked bootloader has been found on?
Can anyone possibly offer a noob-friendly guide on doing this?
Please note, I am completely willing to downgrade to lollipop in order to make this happen as I rely on some apps that require root, and some that rooting makes the app more functionsl (Trimmer, greenify, xposed, Titanium Backup to name a few)
I have successfully rooted and unlocked many phones in the past (Motorola Milestone, HTC Desire Z, HTC Amaze, HTC Raider LTE /Vivid, Galaxy S2/3/4, Galaxy Note 2/3, LG G3) but for the first time in my rooting life, I not only feel completely unsure about the process, but I feel pretty uneasy. A lot of the guides that I found for injecting root into the system partition and re-flashing seemed incomplete or broken, and were not published on XDA, so I stayed clear of them.
Thanks everyone in advance.

I will receive my G4 from Rogers in 2-3 days, what do you think will be on it? Lollipop or MM ?
Thank you

could someone point to a forum, or provide some details as to why this is not possible?
will this be how all phones are made going forward?
I can't wrap my head around not being able to do this, and would just love some reading as to why it is not possible, and what to look out for when buying a new device that is not a Nexus.

The exploit used on Lolipop was by way of inserting the Su root binary and whatever other mods are needed into a system image and then writing it to the phones memory. This trick or exploit used to boot the phone into a state where you could write a new system image was fixed on Marshmallow. There is another trick that I see on the USA variant subforums for the G4 where you pull the USB cable out during an update exactly when it hits a certain percent to get the phone in the exact same state but it doesnt hepl with root anyway.
Marshmallow had changes to it which prevents rooting by simply changing the system partition (not sure exact details) which is why we have the systemless root now. Systemless root requires modifications that will not work with bootloader locked phones. No bootloader unlock has been made available for the G4 so not possible to root MM.
Check out the Canadian G4 thread in the general subforum.
My koodo h812 bought a few weeks ago came with marshmallow out of the box. Build date was July, sn607
If you want to root your new G4 you'll have to downgrade to LP. Check the Canadian H812 thread in the General forum for more details and use LG UP program to flash the KDZ. Mine came with MM from Rogers and it was pretty simple to downgrade.
I don't know how long I can resist the urge to root. My only real issue with it stock is the crappy battery life. There is no excuse for my old moto x with a way smaller, 2 year old battery lasting double the screen on time. I'll probably take the risk on the warranty because I'll always have a backup phone.

I was in this situation with my Canadian G4 (H812).. fortunately I traded it for the european H815 .... I made the right choice I feel. It's got unlocked bootloader, unlocked carrier, no service provider bloatware, and ALL the original LG apps running perfectly (including the FM radio and SmartWorld)
It's beautiful. Anyway there is a guy called SteadFasterX he is working on a custom bootloader called EFIdroid for LG G4 devices with the default bootloader locked. So we are bypassing LG's bootloader and giving control to the EFIdroid bootloader. He is also working on a project called TWRP-in-FISH which lets you boot anything using a LOCKED bootloader. So go check it out and pray, or trade it in for the european version.
I was one of steadfasterX's early testers for FIsH. Unfortunately I think most users are unable or unwilling to shell out more money to buy the exact same phone they already have with different software that is more open. I will just use my LG G4 as long as it suits me and then likely never buy another LG phone unless they change their policy on unlocking.
I'm happy that you resolved your issue but telling others to buy a new phone won't earn you any friends along the way. Plus with the G4 bootloop issues you'd be crazy to buy a used G4 unless it's a really good price.
You really should do your homework a little more thoroughly ...

You really should do your homework a little more thoroughly (LOL) ... TWRP-in-FisH does not allow you to boot just anything. It allows you to boot a custom TWRP version ONLY, a version that will work with locked bootloaders.
EFIdroid in FisH (an ALPHA stage project), if successful, may ultimately allow one to boot custom roms. It does not modify the stock bootloader partition, i.e. it does not unlock it, it hijacks the boot process.
FisH is the project that allows you to boot potentially anything.
You're not helping anyone providing inaccurate, misleading information. Your only contribution to date seems to be telling everyone to sell their H812's and buy H815's - you've made your point (over and over, ad nauseam - hint, look it up) ...
Cheers,

The information posted on the link you've referred to is factually incorrect. The method, using Chainfire's Supersu Beta version SuperSU v2.79 SR3 requires a modification of the boot partition. It is simply not possible with the locked bootloader of the H812, i.e., you can't believe everything you read. The author does somewhat qualify with the statement: If the Root is Not Working in Your Variant Should Be Unlocked Before Root.
You've owned your LG H815 for how long ... ? LOL ... less than a week? Tick, tick, tick ... ILAPO!

Flashing generic Samsung firmware to carrier branded Tab S4 (SM-T837T -> SM-T835)

I think this has been asked before in a different way in this section but no real response yet. I did some research in the other Samsung device forums and see that often it is possible to remove branding or switch carriers adjusting device ID and bootloader etc. But no idea how to do it for the Tab S4.
I'm sick of waiting for slow updates through T-Mobile (or any carrier) and would like to fully unlock it's potential with Android 10 rather sooner than later. I bought this device second hand network unlocked.
Any short or long answer to these questions? Can it be done? If so where to start?
Am looking to do so, with the t835 you will have full calling functionality,,,

Any short or long answer to these questions? Can it be done? If so where to start?

The short answer is no.
I've tried that after I found my T837V can be successfully loaded with T837R4/T837T/... firmware. I thought maybe I could flash stock firmware of other versions. But if you do that with any firmware other than T837*, you will get "secure check fail pit" error. So sadly no.

Thanks for the response! So it does mean you can freely flash T837 versions which could mean I can just wait for the first version that comes out with android 10. Any first release should work. Right?
Turkey version has it:

T837 is Turkey version and I've tried it. It can't be loaded, maybe it need to be T837x which are all US variants.
As for Android 10 update, I think this will work. I'm waiting for the first one who gives the OneUI 2.1 update. So far the Verizon version(T837V) seems to have the most active firmware updates.
In the USA, SM-T837 ARE carrier tablets.
There are the SM-T837A, V, and T; ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile. TheSe are locked to the Carrier. If you have them unlock it, OTA upgrades are over. If you know how to hack the firmware, you can write over the carrier version. The best way to go is probably custom ROM AND ROOTING. But in other nations, it will probably work to write a different Samsung ROM. The SM-T835 HAS no US version, so you can probably write any tab s4 Factory ROM to it.
The USA HAS so many cellular devices, the rules are strict. And, the carriers sell the devices pretty cheap. So, they want them to stay with their service.
T-mobile update for android 10 finally out just got it
