I have been trying to hunt down this unicorn for many, many years. If this device were usable for people in other locations I would so try to resume development work.
But sadly I think these phones are not usable outside of the US and a select few places

Request: METROPCS ROM for Samsung Epic

hi guys can anyone please try to make a rom for metropcs that will have everything working like internet/ picturemail just after flashing the rom and updating the APN ????
i am willing to donate to whoever willing to help making this happen
thank you guys
You don't need a rom,. And all of the information about the carrier and device is not inside the roms. You should probably take a look at other threads about changing the phones carrier.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!!!
Moved to Q&A.
I was wondering if anyone could post a walk through on how to flash the Epic 4G to Metro PCS? Seems like the only phone that doesn't have one. I don't care how, video, text, whatever. I'm trying to save myself $140 bucks.
try this

[Q] Porting

I want to learn how to port a rom or maybe someone can help me with this. Im on MetroPCS with the Evo so we have a few problems. One which really annoys me is online streaming apps like pandora dont work with evo firmwares. they either skip songs after 15 secs or dont play at all. So i had tried a Desire Z ported rom and it works fine with that just too many bugs in the port and so i was thinking of maybe porting a rom from the Incredible. The Evo and Incredible are pretty similar so i thought maybe this would work. I dont care about 4G since even though metropcs is getting 4G its going to be LTE. So can anyone help me out? or maybe u can help me figure out why the online streaming apps dont work correctly with HTC Evo roms? Maybe a Logcat can give u some insight.

[Q] [Request] Sprint VVM for Gingerbread

Ok, so I have been lurking XDA for a long time, and I finally have an issue I cant find resolution for. I recently flashed from Fresh Evo 3.5.0.1 (Excellent job Flipz) to a Gingerbread port by Virus (again, outstanding job) but my Sprint VVM is acting up, even after retrieving it from the Evo Gingerbread leak and doing the TI Backup trick. Does anyone have an apk for Sprint VVM T.5.1.0.60?
I appreciate any help, thanks in advance!
Check the gapps from the EVO-Deck roms, you can extract it from there and give it a try. Link is on my sig
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I can do without 4G, since we dont have it yet in Phoenix, but the lack of VVM was almost a dealbreaker here.
Not to discourage anyone from visiting Deck's excellent page, but I think the link that takes you to what the OP is requesting in a single click is http://www.mediafire.com/?136t28isl75zdgl
No worries, the apk I was looking for was there in both cases.

[Q] HTC Evo 4g on Sprint help please!

Okay its have had a HTC Evo for about 2 weeks. I had one a few months ago until I moved out of the country. I used the hd2 on android using dandiest and freaks desires z rom. It looked amazing and I miss it very much. My question is, is there a rom for the Evo similar to that that works just as well? If so where can I find it?
Second question: has anyone been experiencing random restarts with the ota 2.3.3 android? I haven't rooted or done anything to my Evo yet and I'm experiencing this. Please help or send an email to me.
Thanks!
Firstly, there is no root available for the latest OTA update, so flashing custom roms is not an option for you now. As far was which rom goes, just keep an eye out in the development section. New roms based off of the recent OTA should start popping up soon.
Thanks for the info man. On the second part of my post I talked about it randomly resetting. Do you know anything about that?

Naw, man. I've been running the Synergy rom that is 2.3.3 based for the past 2 days without any issues, but the only time I had a stock rom was when I first got my phone back in June of last year. I don't know anything about the latest OTA because I haven't even seen it.

As far as random reboots the best thing to do is just reset phone from stock or clear all data on of the apps you have must not be agreeing with gingerbread so do that or update all of your apps from the app store.

[Q] NEW VM Samsung Galaxy S2 ROm ICS

Hi I know that virgin mobile just released the Galaxy S2 4g, but is that rom ICS 4 available to download anywhere?
I've been looking for it. Also can anyone comment on whether it would be compatible with the Sprint Epic 4g Touch?
Thanks in advance.
I'm fairly sure sprint, boost, and virgin roms are interchangeable I know sprint and boost are and am 99% sure virgin is as well

I installed a sprint rom on my vm gs2 and now mms is not working, if you find a link to the original virgin mobile rom please let me know!
They are interchangeable but you have to change the MMS setting to match their respective carriers
Plus on vm and boost roms there is no roaming option or automatic rather

I guess I'm chickenshlt compared to you, you don't mess around, jump right in the water. What's the worse that could happen, right.
I suppose someone will eventually release it or leak it.
Exactly why I'm looking for it, sorry to hear your about your predicament.
From one of the threads on this forum, To have mms working, you need a patch that is available for the cm9 and cm7 roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491189
Virgin mobile uses some type of proprietary framework for the mms.
Too bad you didn't backup your phone with AGAT Recovery.

If you do find it, please let me know also.
Good LUck
Thanks
link to vm rom
Don't mean to revive an old thread, but just in case someone comes across this by a google search or something,
Here is the link by garwynn with the vm rom.

You don't need a framework from an aosp ROM to use mms unless you're running aosp. Trying to combine aosp framework on a touchwiz ROM is brick city.
You just need to know the mmsc url for the carrier you're on and change it on your device to run any number of the various custom roms on this device.
Giving out potentially dangerous information is risky anyhow, especially when that information is wrong. It's a very bad idea, it could cause someone to lose their device.
Please be sure you know the information you're giving out is correct.

You're right I don't know what the hell I'm talking about most of the time, Agreed.
But I never said to use a aosp patch on the touchwiz rom as you mentioned. simply stating that cm9 has a patch.
That the touchwiz roms don't have.
I personally don't like CM9 or CM7. But using the gingerbread,ICS,jellybean or whatever I never was able to get my mms to work properly.
Probably cause I flashed a sprint phone to virgin mobile and it was missing some vital info from the Rom somewhere may be the 1192 file or other that holds something that the mms relies on. (only guessing don't scold me please!!!)
Anyway I basically had enough of virgin mobile/sprint spotty coverage where I live and switched to T-mobile and the T889 phone which is a million times better for me.
So Good Luck to all and best wishes.
