I use several gmail accounts and the Gmail app on the phone is set up to show messages from all of them. This is great, but at the same time the phone tends to associate all other things with at least one of these Google accounts.
My main problem is the Calendar (both stock and third-party, I tried Cal from Any.do). The stock app is constantly syncing with Google, although in Google account settings calendar sync is turned off. Moreover, the Calendar assigns new events to the account I was using last in Gmail. As a result, the Calendar is now a mess since all events are scattered between several Google calendars and none of them are syncing with the HTC PC software. That was a problem after Lollipop update when I needed to do a factory reset and lost most of the events.
Is there a way to separate the Calendar from any kind of account present on the phone? I do not need sync, I do not need to share, I do not need my calendar to be connected to anything, for me it's just a simple list of events and tasks. I would like to be able to back it up on my PC (and not any kind of Cloud). But this is only needed rarely and I certainly don't care about past events. What I also would like to do is to consolidate the events scattered over multiple accounts into one local, offline calendar.
I can't find a way to do so with neither the stock Calendar, nor with the Cal from Any.do. If anyone can suggest what to do, I will be very grateful.

OK, here's the deal. My wife won't get a smartphone. And she refuses to use Outlook or similar desktop mail/calendar. She has her one Yahoo email address and is happy with it. Period. She keeps dates on a calendar in the kitchen.
I sync OTA with exchange through my office for all work related appointments. I then cable sync at home to add my personal calendar items. Is there an online calendar through Yahoo, Google or similar that is simple for my wife to use and would allow me to sync my wife's calendar to my phone as well?

Google Calendar would probably be your best option to bridge this gap for you
It's crazy simple for her to use (and for you to setup for her), and has quite a few sync options, including windows mobile...info on how that would work on your end are HERE.
Thanks for the Google info and especially the link. It's cool to see how people on xda go the extra mile to help each other. After reading your Google link I think I have realized that the limitation may be with Active Sync. It looks as if under the 'Configure Server' settings in ActiveSync there is only the optioj to configure one push account. Since I am hooked into my exchange server at work I don't see a way to also add the Gmail server settings as well.

That is correct (as far as I know), you can't setup GCal and Outlook to both sync to your phone's calendar separately.
However, what I was thinking of (and didn't do a good job of pointing you to...) is that you can setup GCal to sync to your outlook calendar on the desktop side, then when you sync to your outlook, whatever your wife has added to her calendar will be there as well.
Step-by-step HERE. Basically, you'd sync her google calendar to your desktop outlook at work, which would then update that on the exchange server. Whenever you synced with that, locally or remotely, you should get the stuff from her calendar as well. You can setup the GCal-outlook sync to be one-way only, so she doesn't get all your work stuff added to her own calendar.
Let me know if that would work for you...I don't really know of any other options for a simple calendar for her to be ok with, that will get her appts onto your phone...other than maybe just using opera to view the web version of her calendar..??
You can sync multiple accounts, multiple calendars to each account, etc, each winding up in their own individual category with ActiveGCSync.
It uses Google's API directly, so no activesync etc.. It can sync calendar and contacts, but honestly syncing contacts takes forever. Syncing the calendar could take 1-2 minutes depending upon how much change there is, but IMO not too big a deal for the flexibility.
I demand having each calendar in its own category so it shows in different colors and PhoneAlarm acts differently on it.. Am In in a work meeting? PhoneAlarm lowers all volume. Personal event's show up in a different color, etc..

Hey guys,
I have about 8 different calendars setup on Gmail, but for some reason I can only see some of them in the stock calendar app.
I've got Work schedules, kids sports, ToDo, Bills, etc...
Any of you notice it will only sync some calendars? Any way to get all of them to show up?
If I go into the calendar settings on the phone and Calendars at the top, I only have the device, then I have 2 google ones.
Now, some of the calendars are shared with my wife, is it possible that a shared calendar won't sync?
shared calendars should sync to your phone no problem. so that shouldn't be your problem.
i haven't experimented with multiple calendars (on one google account) syncing to my phone.
anyone else?
i do know that yesterday a lot of the google calendar functions were down during the morning. is your calendar fully synced now?
I was having this issue also....clear calender storage under manage applications and it should work. That's what I did and all my calenders come up now

*BOOM* Got it.
You rock.
I am using Google calendar and Gmail. However, I can't sync both direction information. Any change on the google side is properly being sync to my phone, however nothing goes the other way. For example, if I delete a mail it will not be deleted in my Gmail. The same is with a new event I create in my phone. Furthermore these events are marked in green so I guess it can be sync.
I checked at "settings/account &sync" and found a partial solution for hotmail (mails that were deleted in my hotmail will be deleted also at the phone).
Any idea how to get full bi-directional support?
Call me paranoid, but I don't like the idea of keeping my appointments in the cloud.
The problem is, the stock HTC calendar reduces available options when I'm switching from a Google account to either the phone (i.e. HTC Sync) or local account.
Does anyone have any experience with the Google calendar app and local accounts? Is it possible to use it without syncing with Google? Is there any other decent calendar app that would work with a completely local account, with an occasional backup to either SD card or PC?
You can turn off synchronization for Google Calendar under settings.

Somehow on my phone this setting has no effect and Google keeps syncing the calendar.
And then I'm using several gmail accounts, so the events get scattered between different "accounts". I have no idea why a simple list of appointments has to be associated with any kind account.
I don't think you are doing it right when you turned off the calendar sync. Anyway, there is an app called Offline Calendar. Perhaps you could give it a try.
I know this app. It creates a local (offline) calendar, but does not do anything else, you have to use this local calendar as an "account" in some other calendar app, like the stock HTC calendar.
As to turning off sync, I don't think you can do it "wrong". You just go into Google account settings, tap on an account (if you have more than one, like I do) and then there are sync settings, you can choose whether to sync gmail, contacts, calendar, apps, etc. I uncheck all of the boxes except for gmail, since this is the only thing I need to be synced - otherwise I will not be able to read email and that's the whole point of having a Google account. In any case, the calendar sync setting is off and still the HTC calendar app syncs every time I add an event to a calendar associated with a Google account.
Two ideas to try:
1. Use Google calendar with sync turned off. See if it still syncs new event.
2. Stay with HTC calendar and use the offline new account created by that app. Add new event to the offline account.
Try a calendar on the play store that has no sync function........ Or, don't worry. Everyone syncs... If there were security issues, it would be reported all over.
I doubt Google will show up at an event you have scheduled and mug you. ?
G'day Team,
Has anyone found a way to get the Always on Display to show the next event from your Outlook Calendar?
I understand it will show the next event from the Google Calendar in Android 9 and have this working correctly however I want to display my Outlook calendar.
I've tried adding my outlook calendar to the Google calendar from within the app (which works in terms of showing the appointments within the app) but the Always on Display will only display events created within the Google Calendar directly.
I love this feature (as an ex-Windows Phone user) but use Office 365\Outlook not Google Calendar.
Any suggestions on how to get around this??
Many Thanks!
I am looking for the same, but I guess AOD is designed to show only Google Calendar events. On a side note, how did you manage to add outlook calendar within Google Calendar app?

you need to share your outlook calendar with either the google calendar or samsung calendar, you can go in google calendar, settings, manage calendar, add ouutlook calenar (put in your username/passoword) if its your personal email calendar, it will show up, if its your corporate calendar, your company would have disabled sharing of calendar for security reasons, and it will give error. check if you can share your corporate calendar to your gmail id. usually its blocked.
was able to successfully show the corporate calendar on AOD, go to the outlook app on your android, and select sync calendars, enable the toggle. it will sync the outlook calendar with the samsung calendar and it will show up on your AOD, just tried it on my s22 plus it works. after hrs of tinkering around.

Considering the Pixel 2XL isn't a Samsung device and doesn't have Samsung apps on board, he'd have to share the calendar with Google Calendar.
Not to mention that we both replied to a post that was dead and buried four years ago.
