I need to get back to stock and wanted to make sure I am doing this the easiest way so I dont brick my phone. I have a TMobile M8 with supercid (cid-11111) and S Off. I currently have skydragon gpe rom installed with latest firmware 4.x firmware. Do i need to Relock bootloader and change cid back to tmob cid? then use which ruu to get back to stock. Sorry guys, been pressed for time and did as much searching as i could,
I appreciate any help thanks.
it worked
I relocked bootloader and set cid back to tmobile cid then used ruu directly from tmobile. It worked thanks anyways everyone.

My phone is S-OFF and it is SuperCID(11111111), I found out that I won't receive updates if my phone has this CID. I want to change it to a\n unbranded CID where I can receive the JB OTA. I don't know how, though. Also, what CID do you think will receive the earliest JB OTA once it comes out? And if I am going to change my CID to an unbranded one, can I revert it back to SuperCID once I receive the update?

just run a RUU and that will make you s-on and with the RUU's CID...
That doesn't sound useful, why would you want to lose S-Off?
HTC_001 is probably the most likely to be first, but I'm not sure if the OTA will work. Do you have stock 2.17.401.2 and stock recovery?

yep i agree, i wouldn't ever ever ever flash a RUU only to get official updates! we will get the official update before it will be released worldwide
I am currently on stock 2.17.401.2 after flashing the RUU a month ago. Before that, I was on 1.15.401.1(!). Stock recovery? I don't know what that means, sorry. Anyway, I don't want to lose my S-OFF just so I can receive updates. I know s-off phones can change CID by fastboot blah blah. Something about writing a command, ugh, I'm not really sure.
You wouldn't even need to flash the RUU...
If you're S-Off, you could just use fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 if you really wanted too, which would change your CID to HTC__001 and keep you S-Off, but i'd say staying SuperCID is the best idea, and just flash one of the many JB roms that are out there.

I get that. But I am still in the process of learning things since this is my first Android phone. Things are still complicated specially because the tuts on inbstalling custom ROMs are all about S-ON HOXs. Anyway, if I change my CID to a normal unbranded one, can I revert it back to SuperCID?
Yes you could.
You'd just do fastboot oem writecid 11111111.
To get updates though, you'd need to have a locked bootloader, stock rom etc... You phone would basically become a Unbranded European One X. Not sure if flashing the update would put you S-On, which means you'd be stuck as a HTC__001.
Basically if you wanted to try Jellybean, you'd just have to flash the required firmware, followed by a custom recovery then flash the rom. You don't need to unlock bootloader because you're S-Off.

... and as an added bonus you don't need to flash the boot.img of a custom rom before flashing the Rom itself, as we s-on peeps need to. You can just flash the entire custom rom at once from the custom recovery.
I.E. you won't need a computer when you want to try another rom

That's my problem! There should be a thread about S-OFF phones and what to do with them. Haha.

Well to be fair, it's very rare to find an S-Off One X at the moment, so count yourself very very lucky!
You hold one big big big advantage over us all though, you can downgrade your HBOOT back to 1.12 if you didn't like Jellybean. Currently for the most of us, with compatible CID's, once we're on HBOOT 1.28, thats it, there is no way back which means things like CM10 etc doesn't work for us.
Actually, you can use CM10 with hboot 1.28, but you have to use the special boot.img posted in the CM10 thread. It works for hboot 1.23 and hboot 1.28.

So I was browsing the HTC website and came upon this webpage with various ROMs for the HTC m8 and others:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html#unlocked
I have an AT&T Unlocked Bootloader and rooted M8 but it's still S-ON.
Can I basically change the CID to the DEV version and then flash this rom/RUU over the M8 to get the developer version?
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
You need S-OFF to change your CID. So that is your first goal here.
And Sunshine is your only chance to s-off. ?
Thanks Darth,
Did exactly that...sunshine to s-off, changed the cid to supercid and flashed the Dev Edition RUU to get what I wanted. I noticed that you can't use fastboot boot recovery.img with that RUU but I flashed a custom recovery and then back to stock and everything is great now.
Hi,
I have a question, my CID is EVE_001 and I want to unlock my bootloader and root along with all the custom ROM good stuff ASAP.
My question is with my current CID will I be able to return my device back to stock if I need to for whatever reason, I've seen the RUU for the HTC_001 but nothing mentioned for my CID, does anyone have any advice on what I could do if I had to return to stock?
Thanks for any help.

eve__001 is EE uk I am sur:good:
Did you get an answer to this as in same boat and hoping to get nougat.
Likewise,
I've got a soft bricked HTC 10 with the same CID from EE.
Nothing I flash is being accepted, even through genuine Stock files etc.
Hi everybody,
I'm sorry, I'm sure this question may be asked so much time, but after 1 hour searching I don't find anything usefull for me... (Maybe a keywork issue ?)
I don't know what I've done, but after I locked again the bootloader in order to flash on a RUU, I blocked my HTC 10 and can't boot on android again.
When I tried it the phone is only going to bootloader mode and don't want to get to my Os. I have TWRP and was on the custom LeeDroid 7.0.
I can't backup or do anything and while i try the dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota on the terminal, it won't work...
And I can't unlock again the phone, I've tried and it's "relocked".
Has someone have the same issues ? Really need your help ! :crying:
Thank you !
Why did you even lock the bootloader to flash a RUU? Is that mandatory? Sticking with Lee is always a better idea .
You might wanna try using a RUU.exe to get your OS back. What firmware and model do you currently have?

Yes it was lol...
But i've read that it was better to be on a locked bootloader to flash ruu :crying:
Yes, you need to lock the bootloader to flash an RUU.
Some people like custom roms, some want to go back to stock.
From the bootloader you can go to download mode and get the unlock token and try the process again to unlock, I would guess. Beyond that, I'm assuming the RUU screwed up somewhere. It is generally not possible to flash an RUU unless the phone matches the RUU's CID and MID parameters. And if it didnt work, the RUU wont have gotten far enough to do any damage.

I've re-unlocked the phone but it won't install the ruu but i think i've made the good RUU choice from the HTC website (was this one : on the website HTC us/support/htc-10-t-mobile/news/)
And i got an error 155 (ERROR UPDATING IMAGE) can't update your android phone.
But i've checked and i'm CID: T-MOB101 | MID: 2PS620000 on my HTC 10 ...

so you can't flash ruu with a unlocked bootloader?? thats odd...people use rru to get back to stock after running custom rom and you shouldn't lock bootloader with custom firmware bc it supposedly bricks you...or is download mode still operatable?
edit: i just flashed an ruu to check and can confirm ruu worked with unlocked bootloader and s-on.

Fair enough, advice I followed at the time suggested I relock bootloader to do an RUU. Being S-ON or OFF doesn't matter.
However, since there was no RUU for my CID (H3G__001) I had to S-OFF in order to change my CID to WWE (HTC__001) to flash that RUU. My phones status at the time was S-OFF, Relocked. It worked fine. It also worked fine under those same conditions after I changed my CID to BS_US001 and MID to 2PS6500000.

The download mode works, bootloader too
I'm not able to flash with an unlocked or a locked bootloader, i've tried the RUU and the custom ROM like Leedroid for example.

I don't think it's the US MID, my IMEI is German and the phone works great on 4G / LTE in France (where I live) and i've read that 4G won't work with an US version in France, but maybe you're true and their is no RUU for my version ... (fragmentation pleasures).
Do you know how i can s-off this phone in order to change those CID which block me ? ^^' because i can't use sunshine bc no OS installed and can't flash one ...
In fact, the only think i can flash / unflash is TWRP and the recovery stock..
Short story... I screwed up my HTC 10 so i want to be S-off to change my cid and mid so i can flash the unlocked US firmware but the problem is that i flashed a custom rom and i lost my baseband and IMEI and sunshine requires to be on stock rom, but i can't find my stock firmware on the internet it is cid htc__339 mid 2PS65000 and 2.24.593.31
Is there a solution? Please help

I think only sunshine app is the only way
But there are other apps but it’s not working according to me
