[Q] Missing Status Bar after installing Google Now Launcher - Amazon Fire Phone

So I have a unlocked Fire Phone, running 3.6.8 that came shipped.
I was going to follow the guide here to turn it into a normal Android phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/general/guide-make-fireos-looks-feel-normal-t2898921), but noted that I will not be able to since I have 3.6.8 (please correct me if I'm mistaken). I ended up following this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/general/fire-phone-how-to-install-google-play-t2977237) to get Google Play Store running nice and smoothly, and installed the Google Now Launcher since I can't stand FireOS.
However I noticed that after setting Google Now Launcher as the default launcher, the status bar up top is no longer visible, so I dont see information such as notifications, battery. time, and etc, unless I pull down the notification center.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so how were you able to correct it?

Try going into settings, display, hide status bar and make sure your status bar setting is set to on. Might be as simple as that

Ah that was it. Thank you!
Do you by any chance use any sort of on screen nav buttons? I've yet to find one that works well with the GNL.

Damn, I feel like an idiot. I've been running without the status bar for a month. I had no idea it was so simple. You made my day,

Status Bar Removal beta + FullScreen beta [JellyBean]

Seeing as how some were concerned with burn-in/didn't want the status bar I'm releasing a first step towards it.
The status bar has been removed, however apps don't seem to reclaim it. I'll be working on this tonight/tomorrow and post any updates on it.
This is for Bigxie's v1 version of JB.
Update:
Adding a fullscreen version that permanently remains fullscreen after 2-3 force closes (There's only a few but they stop after a minute or two and I've yet to have any issues with anything else though I haven't extensively tested it).
XDA is having issues with photos for me, screenshot is here: http://postimage.org/image/yx6en8kif/
FullScreen Mode: http://multiupload.biz/0y10uw1bgdgh/FullScreen Mode_MultiUpload.biz.zip.html
And for those with issues:
Standard JellyBean:

one questions: are only the icons removed or the hole status bar includig the black background?
the status bar doesn't burn in. the rest of the screen just loses brightness, whereas the status bar is black and doen't emit light. the oleds in this section and in the softbutton-section don't lose brightness because they aren't used that much. that's crappy, cause it is pretty good visible after just a couple of months of usage.

The whole status bar is gone, you can't even slide it down or anything. Also could you elaborate on the losing brightness part please?
Also if anyone else has ideas I'm willing to try them. Causing the SystemUI to crash it enters the correct full screen for a min or two, but that isn't permanent nor ideal.
especially the blue subpixels lose brightness the older they get. entering fullscreen mode, let's say watching a movie, shows, that the status bar and onscreen buttons area are more blue than the rest of the screen. this is because these areas weren't used that much.
samoled is very crappy when it comes to longevity. especially for power users it's really bullsh... i had it on every samsung samoled so far. only omnia 7 with windows phone doesn't show these "burned icons" because it's mostly running in full screen, except you touch the status bar, then the icons pop in.
Lol sorry to say but after reading this thread ... I'm just as confused as the box boy in your phones background... =\ not going to try this one...

I've seen a couple of requests like that one. Notifierpro apparently lets you (I've never tried it) and my curiosity as to how to actually remove the status bar lead me to this. (I'm not so worried about the burn in, and will leave my status bar there, I just know a couple of people seemed to want it gone to remove burn in)
Why not hide it with Nova/Apex launcher?

Because it will come back whenever you go into any other app. I don't care for this mod, but can see its use for some.

I might be able to make an app do it, to swap out the SystemUI.apk when toggled. idk if you can do that with the phone running though.
hi matt
just installed your Full Screen mod
and my Gnex is never starting (stays on bootloop)
I have the Jelly Belly V2 ROM
any idea ?

Probably isn't compatible with Jelly Belly V2.
I've only tested it on bigxie's v1
strange as it it is system.apk or system UI if I'm right , so must be the same on JB ROMs

Remove default status bar?

So I've been annoyed with the default status bar that come's with Fire os on the fire phone and tried to install a custom one from play store.
But it seem's as if because of how Fire OS is pretty bad the old status bar wont go away and now im stuck with 2 status bar on top of each other. Any chance anyone here knows how to disable it? I've already looked around for people who have tried disabling it but all of those people are either on non-stock flashed firmware. Thanks for any help.

I want to replace the status bar not disable it
The only option I think would to be to hide it. But I dont think that would work too good.

But the problem is that is I choose the option to hide the status bar, the custom ones do not show either.

WhatsApp/Telegram/etc. won't show up in notification bar

My wife got a new Fire Phone running FireOS 4.6.6. I rooted it, installed Google Framework and Google Now launcher. At least most seems to be working quiet nice (still some things bug me, like Facebook not working, you can't install Amazon Underground, etc.). Concept of many things is nice - but often not brought to an end..
Now, I am stuck with a problem where I couldn't find an answer (at least not one I can accept, hehe).
When I receive a notification from e.g. Whatsapp or Telegram, it won't show up as a symbol in the notification bar. When I drag down the bar, I see the stuff like "Message received" etc. But it won't show me something when I am looking at my home screen or the lock-screen. Can't you see with just a short look that you've got a new message? Do I always have to pull down the notification bar?
Even system status messages aren't shown. When I connect the phone via USB to PC, a stock android shows me this neat little graphic that the connection is established. With FireOS - nothing
Read this thread here and tried this NotifierPro, Floatify, etc.
But it's not as small, fast and nice as the stock android thing.
The thread there is almost a year old, so has something changed lately? Any way to use the notifcation bar like I used to know?
Or maybe there is a nice Xposed module??
fire os does not support status bar notification's icons

What a pity..
Any way to achieve it with an Xposed module? I think the icons could be done in an overlay or something, or is this no alternative?
For the moment I am using Floatify.. I think it just takes some days to get used to it

Anyway to make navigation bar transparent for all apps?

I'm looking for a way to make the navigation bar transparent so when in an app like Chrome or YouTube you can see what's on the tab itself rather than the black bar with the navigation keys. I tried using apps that hide the navigation bar but I felt that it added an unnecessary stuff. So what I'm looking for is a way to make the bar transparent but still have the navigation buttons (home, multi function and back buttons) still be accessible. Anyone in know how this can be done? Also, not looking for ways that require root.

I'd like to know this as well. I know you can use Nav Bar Apps (Play Store link) to change the color of the Nav bar based on the app you are using. However, I haven't been able to use it to make the nav bar transparent.
For now, I've enabled full immersive mode and use Pie Control (Play Store link). So I almost never see the nav bar on the bottom of the screen. The only time the bottom nav bar shows up is with the Google Keyboard and I haven't figured out a way to disable that yet.

I basically spent the whole day looking for an answer but the closest I came was a video on how to do it on a LG g3. It requires root though. Can't believe that with all the thin bezels this year, a way hasn't been found. It defeats the purpose to having thin bezels when the navigation bar makes it look like the bezels are huge. Smh
I'd like the same!! I've enabled immersive mode, but when it's enabled, it causes weird locking/unlocking screen issues.

Check the thread where you got the adb command. There is an shell command you can execute and it's fixed the freezes for me.

Question No status bar in display settings?

I would like to add the seconds to the clock on my status bar and the way I do old phone is settings>display>status bar, but there is status bar settings in the display settings? Any other way to add seconds to the clock on the status bar?
Going to clock app and settings does not help.
You'll probably have to root and wait for a root solution that would work with the Pixel 6 Pro. There's some chance you'd be able to do it without root, but not much. There's an app in the Play Store called SystemUI Tuner. At minimum it would likely require some work with Google's Platform Tools (ADB, etc) unless it just flat out requires root to enable that.
And thanks for reminding me, I meant to find out for myself what I can do with the SystemUI Tuner on the 6 Pro before I root.
I'll be looking for "seconds" on resolution as well....

I just confirmed that it seems to me that ADB isn't enough to get SystemUI Tuner working at all. It is or used to be for some other apps that had more limited capability, but likely to get seconds would need root no matter what.

Couldn't get it to work either but I contacted Zachary Wander on the apps XDA thread and asked if it was an Android 12 issue or a Pixel issue, no reply yet. Installed Nap Time by Francisco Franco and it works fine after the adb commands.

Will try Nap Time by "Developer Guru" Franco!
Solved
Download system UI tuner app in store, activate seconds and uninstall!
Worked.
