I have recently purchased an Amazon Fire TV Box. I have side loaded emulators and games and want to use an old wired xbox 360 controller that I had laying around. From what I read I should just be able to plug & play. It won't work. The lights continueally flash on the controller but nothing else happenes. I really don't want to fork out for a Fire TV games controller as from what I hear they aren't all that good.
Any help would be great.

Have you tried the controller on your computer? Maybe its broken.
I've hooked up 2 of the XBox 360 Controllers with a USB hub to my FTV and they work perfectly.
For what it's worth my 2 wired third party xbox 360 controllers don't seem to work properly. The L / R triggers don't register on the fire TV.
Managed to get it sorted. Controller was faulty. Tried another and all good.

I've just bought a new Fire TV box which has the latest firmware installed. I can't get any controllers to work at all in either menus, games or apps. I've tried the F710 in both 'X' and 'D' positions, I've tried holding the 'logitech button'. Nothing works.
I've also tried 2 different Xbox 360 wireless receivers, an official one and a 3rd party one. I've tried both with 3 different official wireless controllers, again nothing works. I can pair the controllers to the receiver on my Windows 8.1 PC and they work fine.
When I go through the pairing procedure on the Fire TV, the lights seem to react as normal for fire TV (Solid green light on receiver, flashing green on controller)
Does anyone have any ideas? Amazon's site say the xbox controllers are compatible and there's many reports online of the F710 working as well. Thanks for reading!
Managed to 'Fix' it. Looks like I had USB debugging switched on. Controllers all working fine now. :good:

Just hook it up to the Shields usb, click the button on the receiver and the controller to sync, and just like that you can have 4 other controllers for multiplayer games.

I used to use one of those with my laptop to play emulators. The controllers never do stop flashing. They are working correctly, but they just flash the whole time. Always did. However unless you are super OCD it's probably not a big problem.

Did you have any problem using Xbox controller and Shield controller at same time (co-op gaming)?
NSTV can´t recognize Xbox controller as a second gamepad, so in games with co-op I can't use them both...

Nop. Contacted Nvidia, but they say that don't support other controllers....
My only solution is: restart NSTV with only the Xbox controllers connected when I want to use multiple controllers. Otherwise restart NSTV with the Xbox controllers disconnected.

OK, so co-op is possible but only with multiple controllers from one brand, so either the xbox ones or the ones from the shield, but it's not possible to play co-op with one shield and one xbox controller. Did i understand that Right?

Yes. That only happens with wired controllers.
If you use a bluetooth controller it works fine with NSTV controller (only tested with a Xiaomi gamepad). The only problem is key mapping... I can´t use L and R buttons.
there are some games, that don't recognize other controllers than nvidia, but not many.

So I bought a second wireless Xbox controller and even a charging cradle.. But I really dont get it to work, both the Xbox controllers act AS the same player again.. I tried restarting the xbox,I enabled multi controller and tried everything.. How did you get it to work? I am on the lollipop rom. Help really appreciated

If you don't mind a bit of extra work, and your Shield is rooted, you can buy a non-Microsoft adapter for a quarter of the price. You need to make a few changes to the /system/usr/keylayout/ folder, but it takes no more than 5 minutes. I paid just £4.75 for my adapter off eBay with free delivery.

Did anyone got this working? I have a xbox360 wireless controller and an Nvidia Shield remote controller but am not able to play Mortal Kombat with both controllers simultaneously... ?
I actually played Rocket League with the Nvidia Controller and 3 wireless xbox controller. It worked after I started the game with the Nvidia controller and then connected the wireless receiver for the xbox controller. I was so happy that it worked!
But then I realized that all my other games - which have co-op gaming - do not support this! But rocket league proves that it is technically possible...
Did anyone got this thing to work for other co-op games?
This thread has put my mind at ease a bit. I connected one 360 pad with the wireless dongle and was really annoyed that it was also Player 1 like the Shield Pad. The flashing light was also odd. I have some more 360 pads though so will try for 4 player this evening
It's so stupid: we can play Bombsquad with one SATV controller and one Xbox360 with Microsoft adapter, but it doesn't work on Trine 2.

I can stream games from my desktop-PC via GameStream in GeForce Experience to the NV-Shield. This works fine, but not for Multiplayer games like Duckgame for example.
I tested connecting 2 XBOX360 Cable –Gamepads: They both work, but they both control player one.
I tested 2 XBOX360 Wireless Controller with the Microsoft dongle: Both gamepads work but they all control player one.
I tested XBOX One Wireless Controller with the big Dongle: The controllers doesn't work at all.

This guy is made a damn great software, supported all known OS's!
Sideload the app onto your shield and the software to the pc. Then you can use your XBOX-360 wireless adapter on your pc. All should work.
You can use share 1 usb device in free-client mode.

I've read many posts about not being able to properly utilize the wireless Xbox 360 controller with the new Fire TV 2nd gen. Most that I've read were either never commented on again, or the individual fixed it by disabling use debugging.
I've disabled USB debugging, I am using the official wireless receiver and controller, and I have been unable to pair my 360 controller with this fire tv 2. I have tried before and after root, I've tried disabling stickmount, along with force-closing any 3rd party or unnecessary apps I've side loaded with no success.
Has anyone managed to pair these? If so, did you have trouble at first but fixed it by doing something very simple? What steps did you take?

Seems I missed one thread stating disconnecting the Ethernet port seemed to allows the 360 controller to connect. Not ideal. Guess I'll just stick to limelight nvidia game stream.
yes, disconnect the ethernet port only use wifi then the 360 controller will be ok.

I think all you need to do is plug in a 4 port USB hub into the USB port on the Fire TV. Then plug in your 4 Wired Xbox 360 remotes. The controller light indicator should turn on each remote letting you know which controller they are (1,2,3,4)
You can then use this for various games/emulators etc.

Is there an NES emulator (or preferably a multi-console emulator with NES support) that works well with the Fire TV 2nd Gen and paired Bluetooth gamepads? The gamepads in question are specifically ASUS brand, but they are Android compatible, pair properly to the Fire TV without any additional apps or mods (i.e., no settings.apk needed), and they both work with all gamepad compatible Fire TV apps. Unfortunately, none of the emulators that I've tried appear to receive input from the controller once I start a game. Here are the emulators that I've tried:
Latest Retroarch (both Play Store and directly from Libretro).
NES.emu
Nostalgia.NES
RetroFC
John NES Lite
Has anyone had success with an NES emulator and game controllers? Did you need to change settings? Any insight would be appreciated!

I use the Amazon Fire Game Controller and Dualshock 4 with all my emulators.
I use Retroarch with both my rooted Fire TV 2 and rooted Fire Stick, i use 2 x ps3 pads on the Fire Stick (connected with the help of sideloaded SixAxis apk, to which works flawlessly (a little of a bugger to set up as enabling SixAxis knocks the bluetooth connection off but to compensate for this i have the 'enable otg script' auto start at boot and have a 2.4ghz airmouse/keyboard combo remote plugged into my home made powered OTG). Ive actually got 3 ps3 dualshock pads and they all connect at the same time and is a blast with Super Bomberman. Just have to make sure you have them all setup correctly.
As for the Fire TV 2, ive got a 'Rii GP500' android pad connected through bluetooth and if im wanting 2 players on this i have to connect the only other type of controller i have which works, a wired Xbox One pad, ive not got the Wireless adapter to try out no have i got a 360 pad with the wireless adapter to try ( i have read the 360 wireless adapter does work with the Fire TV to use your 360 pad wirelessly). Unfortunatly the ps3 pads refuse to work on the Fire TV 2 no matter what i try (guttered as the ps3 dualshocks are great), i have read that they dowork with Fire TV 1 tho.
Ive also had connected another type of android pad to both Fire TV 2 and Fire Stick, the Ipega 9068, there is quite a few different variations of Ipega bluetooth pads and dont see why they wouldn't work.
As long as you set them up properly in Retroarch i cant see why you would have difficulty.
Saying that when i once tried to plug 2 Xbox one pads in wired, i could not get Retroarch to detect properly, i dont know if it was the case it seen 2 controllers as 1 or not.
My advice would be to setup 1 correctly then save the setup in Retroarch then try adding another, but before commiting to buy see if you can borrow one to try out, or go for any of the compatable ones (if applicable to you) ive tested.
SNES9X Ex+ also working perfectly even with 8Bitdo controllers...
