[Q] No screen recorder

Got the uae version and until now i did not get the update which has screen recorder. Is there a way to get it?

I'm wondering the same. .. It was a feature that I really wanted.
And the ocr app is missing too. Did all the reviewsites get a different firmware?

Any update/s on these two missing features (OCR and Screen Recorder)? I'm curious as to why this hasn't generated much buzz considering these features were highlighted and yet they don't actually exist on the Note II!

Samsung said that screen recording will be in a future update (confirmed by an xda member through an email from Samsung)
For ocr, download the app "photo reader" from the Samsung app store and it will add ocr to your gallery under "detect text" when viewing an image. Not what I expected, but it works ok. Google goggles or upload to Google Drive also give you ocr options.

As another tip I can also confirm that the "Photo Reader" App adds OCR as an input method to the stock Samsung keyboard:
Also you can use Photo Reader as a stand-alone app for following links, adding contacts, instant translation (after downloading free additional dictionaries) and searching text. Cool!

[Q] Duo camera on M8 GPe

How do I use the focus effect on the duo camera? Since Google specifically mentions the duo camera I assume this is possible on the GPe too.

You can use it normally, the same way you use it with Sense

How do I change the focus? I only have the standard Google camera app.

After capturing photo with normal camera app go to edit. Their you will find original HTC editor, which is in the M8 non GPE. If not than you might have to clear defaults of the stock editor so you will have option to choose editor.

Don't know. I actually don't own M8. You should check source video. May be it will help you.

Actually it did help me, I had to click edit form the camera, not from the Photos app. Pretty obvious now when I think about it.

Agreed, it's obvious after the fact. What about if you 'share' the file from the stock Photos app? A list of programs generally appears. Is one of them the HTC Photo Edit app that could then be selected? I often use the 'share' button to access Snapseed and VSCO editors.
I'd check myself but my phone hasn't arrived yet.

Nope, not a trace of HTC Photo Edit anywhere but in edit in the camera app...

Just following up on this: when I use QuickPic to view the photo and then select 'Edit' from the menu, I DO get the option to select HTC Photo Edit. Unfortunately, when I do select it, the app crashes. So, no joy there.

How can i enable the "Nearby places" in the stock dialer app?

Hi all,
I recently bought the Xiaomi a1 ,which is great phone so far.
For some reason, the stock dialer app is not including the option of searching for businesses (aka "nearby places") by searching in the text field of the app.
Do someone know how it can be enabled there?

Just install the attached Google dialer (no root) and give the permissions to access the location.
The "nearby places" works just fine and also the caller ID picture works.

Hi there everyone.
After latest unigram update and adding In-App emojis keyboard I decided to make a new simple app to add support for latest emojis.
Using this app you can get the latest emojis of Windows 10 October update on your phone. This app is working on any Windows 10 Mobile OS version.
After installing this app only launch it and when you see Done message you can close and uninstall the app.
After completing the procedure do a reboot and you've done. You can see new emojis in your apps like Unigram. Keep in mind some apps like Official Telegram messenger or some others still can't show the new emojis because I think they are using their own emojis pack.
This app doesn't need interop unlock on Lumia x20,x30 and x40 series. But you need interop unlock on Lumia X50 series.

There are lots of ways.
Check this registry path :
SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Fonts
Segoe UI Emoji (TrueType)
The value must be changed to seguiemj2.ttf
2. You can Check C:\Windows\System 32\Fonts
and check if there's a file named as seguiemj2.ttf
3. You can open a message in unigram app, Open stickers pack of unigram and tap on first tap (Emojis). All emojis there must be shown to you without any rectangle character.

So this is for viewing the emoji but not for having them show up in the emoji picker? Not complaining, just clarifying.

I'm so sorry but it's not working on W10M 10.0.15254.562. Vertical squares still show in apps like Unigram and websites like "Emojipedia"
Also, ARM dependencies cannot be installed because higher versions of those packages are already installed. And the installation of Runtime 1.7 automatically restarts Interops Tools.

Gmail Dark Mode ?

I have the latest Gmail app but still don't have dark mode,have set it system wide but gmail still does not have it What's up with this. Any body have this problem.

Updating the playstore results in loosing the dark theme also.

I don't have it either

If you have a root there is a pref.xml file you can edit to enable the option.
And its awesome.

Open /data/data/com.google.android.gm/shared_prefs/FlagPrefs.xml with text editor and look for
Code:
boolean name="DarkThemeSupport__dark_theme_support" value="true"
Make sure it is set to true. Must have root

My Gmail will keep force close if I did this modification.... Anyone have similar issues? (I have exchange accounts.. is this the reason?)

Probbaly no exchange.
I have an exchange account in my gmail and have no issues.
Triple check your entry.
extra space misplaced . would probably cause that.

Thanks for the suggestion... However the entry was there when I first opened the file and I just change the "false" to "true"... Can't be wrong about this.. (I did check)

I cleared the data and cache from device personalization app, pixel tips and settings suggestions, uninstalled setting suggestions and pixel tips. Rebooted phone, forced dark mode, Now dark theme is enabled in all apps including gmail, the entire google app is now dark themed. I don't know if its just a coincidence or it was just personalization data stopping the dark theme from functioning properly.
