Hi guys - new to the forums and am keen to learn.
We have a Samsung Note 10.1 2014 P605 - it was truly awesome - until I let it "upgrade" to KitKat 4.4.2
What a mistake that was.
The device is mainly used for GPS and mapping etc .... since the "upgrade" the gps refuses to lock properly and by that I mean sometimes not at all.
It blinks on and off for anything up to an hour - then it locks and then unlocks after 10 minutes ....
Sent it back to Samsung to request a Downgrade back to previous firmware ... they sent it back saying it tested ok and they Upgraded it to the latest release.
They wont go backwards.
Does anyone have an earlier version ?
Can I simply roll it back or do better with a different ROM ?
I spent hours learning the ins and outs of what can be done to root the device - have used Odin3-v3.07 to root it and Titanium Pro to back it up.
It all still works fine so I guess I got that bit right - Root checker says its all good and Titanium has backed the device up.
Now I am left with the part of trying to fix the GPS .....
Any ideas ?
Help ....

Was this a couple of days ago or so? There was a day when someone broke every CM device. If not, you can always try a factory reset first.
If you have a backup, restore it and then install the latest nightly.
If you don't have a backup, well, now you know why you should have made one... Download the latest nightly on your computer and do one of:
* adb push it to your device
* adb side load it
* put it on a USB disk and use a usb-otg cable
And install it. If that doesn't work, factory reset it.
I did not use my tab for a few days and i connected it today with the wifi and got the notification for a update which i installed.
2 weeks ago i did a factory reset already because i wanted to go back to stock firmware so i guess i don't have a back up anymore?
I am new to rooting etc so i don't exactly know how everything works but i know i have made backups with titanium back up and TWRP etc.
I just did a factory reset with TWRP and thank god it is functioning normally again.
Thanks for your quick responding!
I still want to go back to stock firmware so does anyone know where i can get the stock firmware?
I am from the Netherlands so i don't know if i need another firmware than someone from another country.
Thanks,
Gunnar
Hi everyone. I received my very first Android phone a couple of days ago, a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. I did some research on the Android OS (my phone came with Gingerbread) and I found out about Cyanogenmod. So today, I installed C11 (found it right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568105) after a lot of sweat and blood... And I got it to run nicely, but I noticed I can't get my network to work. The phone was previously unlocked (I bought it used), and when I first tried my SIM on it, it worked.
When I first had to install CWM in order to be able to install the ROM, I succeeded in rooting it, and I noticed that the phone was still rooted after flashing it (though I don't know if that came along with C11). But anyway, I can't get my network to work; I removed the battery and the SIM a couple of times, but it didn't work. Now I don't know what to do. Could anyone please give me a hand on this? I know nothing about Android. Thanks in advance.
CM11 requires JB (4.1.2) - Sound like you flashed CM11 onto GB (2.3.6)
This can't work.
The thing is that I was trying to install an AOSP ROM (found in these forums as well) before trying with C11, and I wiped the data, formatted the system... So the phone was left without an OS. I didn't just "update" the OS, if you know what I mean. And C11 is working fine except for the mobile network.
EDIT: If I install a clean JB 4.1.2. and then restore to my current CM11, do you think that could solve the network issue?
Again: You need JB! With JB there are also other partitions which are needed to be new (on JB)
And Yes - Data restoring could work - But not recommended.... I would do an clean new install...
Please do not start an discussion... again: You needed JB.. (just to be sure)
Uhm, I never intended to start a discussion, I was trying to explain what I did. Thank you for replying anyway. I'll let you know if I get the network to work.
Sorry - I don't what to sound outrageous... But those questions were asked to many times... Here on XDA ACE 2 section...

Afternoon everyone, I was hoping someone could assist with this problem, I have a Galaxy Tab 3 7" wifi only, I was running everything as stock inc 4.1.2 firmware, then I was prompted for an upgrade to 4.4.2, I stupidly did this without reading up ! I use to run the Tomtom software on my tab, used it everyday for work, now since the upgrade the tab will not find a GPS signal, no matter how long I leave it, after a few hours of reading and trying different things, cache cleared, reinstalled the app, restore to stock twice (still on 4.4.2) Im at a loss. I have read once its upto 4.4.2 it cannot go back to 4.1.2 as the boot loader is locked ? I am currently downloading a clean instal from Samobile of 4.4.2 to see if that will fix it, installed via Odin 3.10.6.
If anyone has cured a similar problem or can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful
Thanks
John
sort of fixed
Couldn't seem able to find a fix for this problem I had a dabble with my Tablet, installed TWRP, backed up the 4.4.2 stock ROM, found and installed the ROM by Jon Wesley Tranchida - uber cool ROM btw - fantastic boot logo's :good: but alas, the Tablet would still not run the GPS with Tomtom. So I took a risk and found a Stock 4.1.2 ROM from here http://stockroms.webs.com/downloads deleted everything and started again, Installed the 4.1.2 Ultimate ROM, installed Tomtom again and YES, everything works okay :highfive: I really miss all the addons though that were included in the ROM by Jon Wesley Tranchida. I still don't understand why Tomtom won't see GPS or the tablet wont access the GPS on 4.4.2, after 10 hours of reading up.. Although I did read it could be some thing to do with the baseband ? its beyond me lol
So like many of you, I have been really frustrated with T Mobile that they are the only carrier not to upgrade their Note 2 to Android 4.4, and they probably never will. There are more an more apps that I cannot run, some of which are important to me. So I gave up with calling T Mobile, and struck out on the custom ROM trail, seeing that CM has a 4.4 mod for this phone. After rooting and attempting to unlock (not necessary) and changing to custom recovery, I managed to get the CM mod loaded and running, after many hours of learning by trying everything, I got the phone running on the CM 4.4 mod, only to find that I could not make any calls, as there are no mods, anywhere, that support T Mobiles WiFi calling. I guess T Mobile uses that because their network is weak, but hey, I have used Sprint, AT&T and Verizon over the years, and every network has holes, especially inside buildings. It so happens that both where I work and at my home is spotty, so I cannot survive as a phone without WiFi calling. After all, for all of the bells and whistles, a Smart Phone is first and foremost a Phone. So after all that, I started on a new trail, unrooting and installing a stock mod.
There are lots of help out here that tell how to unroot and go back to stock, and they are all trash, every one of them. I tried stock mods from several sources (SAMMOBILE and others) and only found two out of six update versions that even functioned on my phone, and only one of those actually worked like it should, and that was the very first 4.1.1 version T889UVALJ1 that came with my phone years ago. No LTE and more apps that would not install at this level. I was hoping to at least get to the T889UVCOH4 version of 4.3, which is the current latest version from T Mobile. So here I was, an older version of ROM on my phone, no LTE, Flash counter not at zero, and Knox telling the world the phone was modified, excluding any chance of help. Why in the world did I even step into these problems. And then I made a startling discovery.
As I tried to at least restore the data backup I did before this whole thing started by using Smart Switch from Samsung, I found that not even that would recognize my phone because of the older version of android so I could not even get to my backups. When I got the phone it used Kies, but with the 4.3 version of android, Samsung changed over to Smart Switch. So at that moment I felt I was completely screwed. Then I saw the little "More" button on the Smart Switch dialog that was telling me my phone was not supported, and I clicked it. It brought me to some other options, and one was emergency recovery, which allowed for an initialization after a failed upgrade. I did not expect much, as my phone was not supported anymore, but I could not see any other option, so I chose to initialize the phone for recovery.
Well guess what, everything ran perfect, and when the process was completed, my phone was just like new, no flash record, no Knox report, a completely authorized phone. It was if I had never rooted it at all, and I had flashed a dozen ROMs. So for everyone that has a bricked or soft bricked Samsung phone or find out the custom ROMs are not what you were hoping for, all you need to do to get it back is install Samsung's Smart Switch on your computer and click the little "more" button on the screen and reinitialize your phone. It will be like the whole rooting and ROM experience was a bad dream, And yes, the backup did load when I was finished. It is that simple. This should work for any Samsung with Android 4.3 or higher on any carrier.
Hey, guys. Hopefully one of you can help me. I've been having problems with my Galaxy tab 3 (Sprint version) all damn day and I figured I'd ask for help before I utterly destroy it.
So, I've been trying to restore the tablet to factory and nothing I do is working. It was rooted in the past but it was all undone before it was given to me a couple of years ago.
Anyway, I've downloaded the stock os from here, sammobile, and another source, but no matter which I use I seem to run into the same issues. (All flashed with odin 3.12)
1.) When resetting the tablet to factory before or after flashing, I almost constantly seem to get the message, "process system isn't responding."
2.) Keyboard seems unresponsive.
3.) Wifi doesn't seem to stay on, doesn't even let me get to where I can scan for signals.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Sorry!
Can't help just because I don't own a T217S but I own a T210 instead!
They are two different models!
So yeah!
Good luck with what you are doing!
Cheers,
Diamond26
