SOFF HBoot direct flash to partition 11 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
I unlocked many new devices and now i get an M8 device with HTC dev unlock.
My last HTC was a desire s, so iam not up to date with HTC at the moment.
If i know a way to flash an unlocked hboot.img to mmcblk0p11 can i get troubles with THW phone?
HTC sells soff full unlocked devices, if i flash this partition to my device and Boot to bootloader and change then my cid must the m8 work normaly, right?
I want flash it not with the board HTC methode, but direct partition to partition.
If someone tried this vor can give me infos that wäre nice.
THX for help

Can't be done. Only way to get S-OFF is to use Sunshine

i dont think so.
Tried it with my desire x. Rootet and s-on. but for this device i had an hboot image from the same cid model.

What do you mean with that cant be done?
That its not possible because HTC security mechanism give me info like "is not possible because of..." or you mean the flash goes well but after that flash the device make trouble?
THX for help

Without S-OFF you have no access to any other partitions other than those required to flash a new ROM

Backup

Thats not right in all. Some ways are always there. I have made a backup of every partition from the M8 now.
I could flash it with a little trick, get no error message but i try it first with my old Sensation XE. Iam loooking for a Hboot right now for the XE and then i trust me to give the M8 a shot.
I will post what is happening

But you can't write the data back onto the phone without S-OFF

Sorry to bring you a bit of bad news... the official HTC S-OFF is a real *****! There's no patch for HBOOT-1.03.0003 out there yet and I don't know if there will ever be one. You can try writing to the guys doing Revolutionary (i.e. Alpharev and Unrevoked) and see if they plan on patching this new HBOOT version.

Yeah, if he has one. IIRC goldcard was only an instrument in rooting branded phones? The error code would mention incorrect CID or something like that.

Goldcard didnt work, it says somthing like no image or wrong image after a bar on right hand side goes up....
also quick question is Reversing CID from CMD is just like 12a456 to 654a21 or is it something else, coz http://hexrev.soaa.me/ gives me some other result.
aka my CID from cmd is
1e41425553442xxxx0058003fd00a5f6 so reverse shuld be
6f5a00df3008500xxxx24435552414e1

I used the HTCDEV unlock to unlock until I found the GoldCard S-OFF method to S-OFF and S-OFF, as we all know > Unlocked bootloader. I used theq86's tool to relock to the original state.
My first question is: what does the "OOW" mean? I have that it means "Out of Warranty" and that it means absolutely nothing.
My second question is: can I downgrade to my original HBOOT? I do not the remember the version, but I'm sure someone out there knows.
My third question: if I downgrade HBOOT, will I lose S-OFF? It's no big deal if I do, I just want to have my GoldCard ready.
Fourth: If I downgrade to the original HBOOT will it still report "LOCKED (OOW)" or will it just say "LOCKED" and does that have any benefit over "LOCKED (OOW)" (I have heard that it does when sending the phone back to HTC.
I simply want my phone to look as stock as possible (with the exception of my ROM, which can easily be stocked) in case it needs to be sent to HTC.

It is not confirmed, but it seems to be Out Of Warranty because if you flash this bootloader HTC will reject warranty
My second question is: can I downgrade to my original HBOOT? I do not the remember the version, but I'm sure someone out there knows.
Yes, you can. Use my tool again and choose the third option "superversion"
Afterwards flash a STOCK RUU and hboot will be downgraded as well.
My third question: if I downgrade HBOOT, will I lose S-OFF? It's no big deal if I do, I just want to have my GoldCard ready.
I don't know, but S-OFFing again is no problem if it really goes away.
Fourth: If I downgrade to the original HBOOT will it still report "LOCKED (OOW)" or will it just say "LOCKED" and does that have any benefit over "LOCKED (OOW)" (I have heard that it does when sending the phone back to HTC.
If you downgrade HBOOT it will neither show LOCKED, RELOCKED or UNLOCKED because the standard hboots do not check this.

10 chars. my answers in red.
When you say to flash a stock RUU do you mean one of the ones from HTC Dev or elsewhere? Can you provide a link. If it would help, I have a marvelc with Virgin Mobile US.
In the dev section there is a thread where many many stock rom RUUs are. so take a look at there. it's one of the sticky posts.
To downgrade your bootloader, since your s-off just take the ruu with the bootloader of your choice. Extract the rom.zip. open it up and you will find a file called bootloader or hboot or something to that effect. Take that file and the android update.txt file. Zip them both up and rename it pg76img.zip
Put it in the root if your sdcard and boot into hboot. The phone will find the update and just flash it. Done

Is there a specific ROM I should be running? Using simonsimon34's CM7 port and with my PC running Windows 8 Consumer Preview (with HTC Drivers) I am told that the RUU utility is unable to find the Android phone.
Do I need a ROM with HTC Sync?
Which method are you trying?

I'm just trying to run the RUU.exe.
EDIT: I installed Vista and so far it appears to work. I'm going to wait until later to actually go all the way through. (I just went far enough for it to verify my "PDA phone".)

[TUT] Downgrade your Desire/Bravo HBOOT from 1.02.0001 to 0.93.0001

Hi,
This is how you downgrade a Desire/Bravo with the HBOOT 1.02.0001 already installed, - this method is appropriate for people who need to downgrade the HBOOT for unlock purposes. I struggled for ages on this and once I found the method thought i'd post it around the internet as I couldn't find this info anywhere.
-Summary of steps-
1)Turn S-Off + Update HBOOT
2)Downgrade HBOOT to 0.93.0001 (Turns S-ON)
I have personally tested this and it worked perfectly without any problems. However flashing anything to your phone is done at your own risk, & I accept no responsability for your device.
--Step 1--
Download and run the Revolutionary tool here http://revolutionary.io/ to turn S-Off - Follow the steps on their website for how to do this if you get stuck.
Once you have run the Revolutionary tool, when it asks if you want to install the Clockworkmod recovery press no.
You will now have an S-Off phone running HBOOT 6.93.1002
--Step 2--
Format a microSD card, download the following zip file and save it to your memory card.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/dyyn35zm07x2x7a/PB99IMG.zip LINK UPDATED 2 JAN 2013
You should now have a single file on your memory card named PB99IMG.zip
--Step 3--
Put the microSD card back in your phone and hold 'VOL+DOWN + ACTION' and press the power button to get to the HBOOT menu. Wait around 10 seconds (give or take) and the phone will detect the update and ask you to install it, Select yes to install then reboot your phone back into the HBOOT menu.
You will now have an S-On phone with the 0.93.0001 HBOOT
--Step4-- IF THIS STEP APPLIES TO YOU FOR UNLOCKING
Unlock with XTC-Clip as you normally would - Creating goldcard with 0.93.X001 HBOOT.
Your phone will now be unlocked.[/QUOTE]
NOTE: You can do the official updates through the phone as normal without loosing your unlock
Hope you find this info useful
what ruu (PB99IMG) is it?
what if someone has an orange branded phone, coz there is no ruu for it and they would need a goldcard.
what about people from different regions coz theres different ruu's for different regions aswell and they would need a gold card.
edit: its a hboot.img, thought it was an ruu.
did u try this yet? does it work?
normaly when u change hboots u have to format partitions. if u go to the trouble of getting s-off then why not just run the correct ruu for ur device, just to be safe.

Hi,
It souldn't matter what network the phone is on - The HBoot was taken from a WWE RUU & I tested it with a UK Vodaphone branded desire which worked. I used this method to unlock a 1.02.0001 phone which isnt supported by xtc hence the downgrade needed. You shouldn't need a goldcard for the downgrade part as running the revolutionary tool will switch s-off, after applying the downgraded hboot it will turn s-on but as you will be on the old 0.93.0001 hboot you can just create the goldcard with xtc and complete the unlock if this step applies to you - it probably does as I dont know another reason for downgrading to this HBOOT.
Running the downgrade will wipe the phone - it did atleast with mine.
The reason I couldnt run an RUU to downgrade the hboot after turning s-off is because revolutionarys tool adds some protection to prevent hboot flashing via RUU & fastboot. The only way I could find to do it was to flash it directly from the SD card.
As for the other regions you may be right and need a local hboot - I'm not able to test this as I only ever get UK phones to unlock. If it is the case the HBOOT which you want to downgrade to can always be extracted from a local RUU and added to your own update.zip (named correctly of course) - The network branded phones on the other hand should make no difference - as s is off, so a UK orange, vodafone etc will take the hboot from WWE RUU aslong as s is off. (This is why its neccessary to run revolutionary first)
Hope this info helps.
cool. just so u know to unlock the hboot 6.93.1002 u have to flash the Alpharev downgrader img, that way it can be overwritten by an ruu

Hi,
Thanks for mensioning that, I did actually run the Alpharev downgrader as part of the process but completely forgot to add that step ( I wrote the tutorial after doing it not during ) With me though after running the alpharev downgrade the hboot still wouldnt downgrade from the ruu - also tried manually flashing with fastboot but got various errors (something to do with usb something or other - maby it was just my usb's playing up again as they occasionaly do) so for me I still had to do the sd card way but if you find it works for you with the ruu then even better.
For anyone getting stuck, do this step after running revolutionary - Just download the Bravo Downgrader from here http://alpharev.nl/ and run it before continuing with the rest of the steps.
i always use PB99IMG awsell, my laptop dont like my phone haha

desire with broken volume keys
hi friends, I found a HTC Desire bravo at the flee market and bought it thinking it is actually a nexus-one... a nice phone with lots of nice futures in it after a charging session the phone boot up and it was alive back again. with one problem the volume keys was not working.. ı dismantled it and cleaned up as it is described in xda forums and didn't worked so i made a little check and found the thin foil attaching the volume keys to the main board was broken since there is no way to fix it without changing the main board and i had no intention to pay lots of money on it i left it like that with one problem; no way to boot in to recovery from start... after couple of days i found i didn't liked the rom on it i decided to change it, there was no problem since i could boot it to recovery using the restart menu which the ROM had since it was rooted but i made a mistake and fell in to a boot lope the only way to boot it back was the adb commands but phone couldn't start up so no debugging mode only fast boot so i tried many fast boot commands to boot in to recovery with no success after searching forums i found lots of desire bravos around with the same problem.. so i used ruu to reboot it properly the only ruu worked for me was the official 2.3.3 update ruu ''RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade (Gingerbread).exe'' the phone booted and working now but no s off and no root and there was no way to root it without the volume up and down keys i was stuck with the useless unrooted rom so here how i rooted the phone without the volume keys first you have to download ''DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip'' and run it in USB debugging mode after that you have a working recovery partition to install a recovery bin using fastboot or what ever( the problem was after the update i lost the phones recovery partition and couldn't get the state s-off even i am s-off there was no recovery partition... since i am not good at commands to re format the boot loader this could be a life saver so i decided to share my experience... afterwards you can boot into recovery since you have a recovery partition you can push any recovery to your phone i think zergrush tool is not intended to use with bravo that why no body mentioned it in the bravo forums ops i forgot the say i used alphadevs methods and software to gain s-off on my phone before using zergrush i hope this will hwlp people like me stucked with non fonctioning volume keys

[Q] Rooting wildfire a3333 hboot 0.80.0002

Hello everyone, i just got an old HTC Wildfire from my aunt and decided to root it and make it a useful secondary phone... the problem i ran into is the fact that it has HBOOT 0.80.0002.
I cant seem to figure out how to root it. I tried the full guide to rooting and de-branding but i got stuck first i tried to just use revolutionary, but that only supports hboot 1.01.0001 or something like that and then i tried to downgrade it (what u are supposed to do for 1.2.0002 hboot) but that didnt work either since i got stuck trying to create a goldcard image. Well i actually got the goldcard (found a functioning website online put in my CID and got the gold card, but the prtoblem was that i couldnt patch the mmc)
So anyone got any help for me? or a tip what tutorial i could try.
Phone info:
HTC Buzz (wildfire)
Hboot 0.80.0002
Radio 3.35.19.25
S-on
Firmware 2.1-update 1
Thanks for the help

If you run the unrevoked program it will root your phone with your current hboot. You could also consider working out your phones cid, (not the one from your goldcard) And then you could look for the correct update ruu. Upgrade to hboot 1.01.0001 and then use revolutionary and gain full s-off

Ok, unrewoked worked the second time around tried it before i posted here, but it stopped at pushing recovery image... i guess it must have been HTC sync (yeah forgot i had that instaled on this pc) when i uninstalled it as the software told me to it worked just fine. Rooted with CWM thanks for the help
Ok guys, is this even possible? I used Unrevoked and it worked nicely and got my phone rooted (super user) and CWM installed... but i still have S-ON... am i missing something here? should i flash something to get S-OFF or what? really confused right now...

Unrevoked never removed s-on, it used a root exploit to gain superuser access, install superuser and then flash a custom recovery. Revolutionary, which is a conjunction of team unrevoked and alpharev was the next step, after the upgrade to hboot 1.xx.xxxx unrevoked exploit no longer worked, so they found another I believe and forced a hacked bootloader into the phone, making it believe it was s-off even though the radio flag was still set to on confusing I know
so revolutionary s-off is from a patched hboot, and the xtc clip gives full radio s-off. The only real difference is that with xtc clip s-off you can remove SIM lock, but with the patched hboot you cannot, as the radio which houses the security (for all intents and purposes) is still set to on. The patched hboot just tells the hboot to ignore what the radio says and believe it is s-off all the time.
But before I ramble on you should be good to go with your hboot, but you may need to upgrade your recovery, in order to do this I believe you will need root and to flash the recovery by using a script called flash. I'll look Into it for you or, you could try the clockworkmod recovery app to flash the new recovery, you want 5.0.2.0 preferably

Question upon s-offing a device

I haven't seen a thread in this phone section where it shows how to s-off an htc desire 820u (qualcomm) without using an xtc2clip.
May I ask, is there an option to s-off a phone without using a gold card/xtc2clip?
If not, can you give me a way to s-off my phone?
Is it possible to create a gold card to s-off my phone?
I need s-off for my phone since I need to upgrade to lollipop and I have modified my OS without doing backups.
Unfortunaly, for my device which I think is 0PFJDIAG (it is the zip that is searched by hboot) or 0PFJ120(the model number that is written on the back of my phone), there is no available stock kitkat ruu. But if you do have one, please tell me where I can download it.
i don't think there is a way to s-off without xtc2clip
and for the kitkat ruu
i have an d820u and it came ithink with Chinese or Taiwanese software and i used the Indian ruu and worked for me (but mine came already s-off) this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-820/development/ruu-stock-fw-desire-820u-dual-sim-t3217030
i don't know if you can do it while s-on
but why you don't get s-off with xtc2clip it costed me about 15$ in a local mobile repair shop
Hey man, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I've gone to the phone unlocking shops that are near to my place but there is no single person who has an xtc2clip there. Maybe I'll just wait for a software s-off for me to be able to upgrade my phone
Anyone here from the Philippines who know a shop where I can s-off my phone?
