Hi,
I noticed the other day when I was on street, trying to use Google map, turned on GPS and mobile data.
It just couldn't find where I was on the map. It could locate where I wanted to go, but not where I was at.
It was really annoying, I had to use Google map, without navigation..
Then I turned on WIFI at home and opened Google map, then immediately it showed where I am.
Only when I use google map with mobile data, it can't locate me.
I've tried so far, reinstall of Google map, deleting cache from app->google map,
Made sure background service of Google map is not blocked in Mobile data.
Still no good.
Anybody know how to fix this?
I'm using CM11 last nightly version.
Sounds like the GPS isnt working at all, and it's simply using your wifi to find location. had this issue on other phones with CM
and..
what did u do about it? solved?
On my HTC Wildfire, was never able to find a fix. Sony Xperia Go I changed the Rom. Samsung S4 Mini, haven't had this issue yet, I'm using a stable Rom though
Anybody else having problem with GPS on CM11 last nightly?
If there is anybody else, how did you fix it or what's the workaround?

I just got my TP2. really excited by all the bloatware in it.
I am However experiencing a major problem and do not understand how to fix it.
I opened up google maps, and was expecting to see it triangulate cellphone towers to somewhere close to where I live... instead I see the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan.
Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?
bump...
anyone have the answer... I know I am not the only one having this problem..
I downloaded the latest version of google maps and downloaded the quick gps data, go outside and try it again, worked for me. GPS won't lock if you are inside a building.
I've been dealing with a problem on my G2 for a while now, but not sure when it started exactly. Basically, I'm no longer able to determine my location using the cell towers (ie: coarse location).
Several programs I have rely on coarse location, such as the News and Weather app and Beautiful Widgets, not to mention latitude via Google Maps.
I originally thought it was an issue with CyanogenMod 7 starting from RC2 and up, but after having reverted to CM 6.1.1 I found that it was not working there.
If I use GPS or WiFi my location is found pretty quickly, and if I set "only use 2G networks" (or whatever the setting is called) then coarse location works.
My testing method is to reboot the phone and then when it stabilizes to go into the News and Weather app to see if it can find my location. When it does not work I just get a screen that says as much and a link to set my location manually.
I've done this same test on clean roms with no settings or restorations and I get the same results.
Thinking that maybe the radio was to blame I went so far as updating it, while at the same time doing the "real" S-OFF routine through gfree (I permrooted using the original method when it was found, which I've read was some type of fake S-OFF...). This didn't change anything, unfortunately.
While I know this is not related to GPS, I wiped the EFS data as well since I updated the radio (thread 1028405). This didn't help either, though I didn't expect it to.
I've called T-Mobile a few times about this, and had them do a clear location, which didn't seem to change anything.
Lastly, while not the same equipment, I did put my SIM back into my Nexus One (Completely Stock, running latest GB from Google) to see if the problem followed me. Using 3G with that phone, I was able to get my location nearly instantly, so it seems to be something with my phone directly. A G2 demo unit at my local T-Mobile store also was able to find it's location quickly via coarse location.
So, I'm lost as to what to do now. Is it broken? Do I need to replace it? Do I need to flash it back to utter stockness and test all over again?
If there is any additional information that I can provide, please let me know.
Edit: I found a solution using the app Location Cache in the market. Just wipe the location cache using the app and it should fix your problems. Here's the link:

I have the same issue. It started while on CM7 and now if I go back to any other ROM the issue persists. Always wondered what caused it.
I'm having the same problem. Try switching your mobile network to 2G only and see if network location works then. It works flawlessly for me with 2G only but when i switch to 3G/HSPDA+ it fails to find my location and give me the "location temporarily unavailable" error. Wifi and GPS work fine but that's useless unless you have wifi signal available or are outside. I had this problem in the past and flashing a new radio worked before but I can't seem to get it to work this time. I"m running the CM7 Stable but have tested it on the MIUI ROM as well. So frustrating.
Solved
I found a solution!
Because of all this location tracking non-sense, I downloaded an app called Location Cache from the market. I was thinking that it might be helpful in trying to figure out my lack of location services on 3G/4G.
The information it displayed was that all my cell towers had an accuracy of -1. Thinking it couldn't get worse, I wiped the location cache, which also results in the phone rebooting.
To my surprise, after the phone came up I was now getting location services on 3G/4G. Accuracy at my home was 75 vs -1, and my location is working in my work area as well (about 20 miles North of my home).

Hi,
Used the search, but couldn't find anything related to my issue.
The problem is that whenever I launch an app that uses GPS, like google maps, runkeeper, Sygic, ..., my data connection disappears. Same thing is happening with mobile hotspot for some reason, where I dont need a gps as far as i'm aware.
WiFi still works together with GPS enabled.
It just occured suddenly. I had this rom flashed for about a month without those issues, didn't flash anything new or something...
Some more info:
ARHD 6.3.1
radio 12.65.60.29u_26.14.04.28_M
Tried rebooting, but not reflashing. I prefer not to reflash the rom, but if it has to be done then I wont have a choice
Reflashing radio didn't work either.
I know quite a bit about android, but this is a really bothering me...
I hope someone could help me out here?
Edit: Found the solution on a dutch forum.
If you have extended controls installed (like me), remove the widget, place the app back to phone memory instead of SD card, put widget back on.
Somehow it's fixed now
Anyone else still having problems with locations?
Facebook doesn't work properly (can't check in, no places found), weather doesn't (says 'Isle of Man') and neither does the navigation (says 'Navigation to your destination is not avaliable')
GPS works and syncs fine (now I did the spring trick), the stand alone locations app (latitude, locations & maps) work perfectly fine.
I've re-flashed, reinstalled, cleared cache, data. Even started from scratch and it's all the same.
Search brings up little or no results in with this problem and more importently no solutions for me specifically.
I've also found some pages on google that say the navigation (car panel premium) was merged into the google navigation. This is around the same time all mine packed up.
I'm using the most recent arhd with recommended radio. The phone is just not what it was this time last year, all social networking and locations/nav worked fine.
I'm sure there are more people with the same problem?
I think it's my network/location but a samsung phone with android works fine with nav and check in with same apn settings.
I used a program that let me force change my location and check in and navigation worked instantly.
Still doesn't explain why I can use latittude and the maps perfectly but then when I click navigate it says not avaliable.
Is there a way I can check what's going on or whats blocking this?
Hi,
I get exactly the same problem in the Isle of Man (although running a Galaxy Samsung Nexus).
I also have a friend with another android phone who also can't get navigation here either.
I think it only stopped working for us in December.
Hi Michael
Another Isle of Man user here. Haven't been able to use Navigation recently. I a can go to Maps and get directions to a destination. As soon as I switch to Navigation I get a message saying:
No routes found - Navigation to your destination is not possible.
Hadn't thought too much of it. I tend to mess around with various distros (currently running GalnetMUI 2.2.1) and it's not uncommon for something to be broken from one build to the next.
Nice (in a way) to know it's just me. The question remains .. who can fix it?
Owen
It's not ROM related.
I've flashed various back-ups including stock and friends phones are the same using stock and custom.
Could it be Google?

any progress?
Hey guys another iom user. But I'm on sure just noticed this problem today. Anybody found a solution?
Nope, no solutions! Still looking
Something has been blocked.
I'll update if i find any work around.
I went on holiday and everything worked fine in England and Spain. It's just here.

Hi everyone,
I updated to 4.4.2 today and since this afternoon my WiFi arrows (both up and down) have been stuck on. I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing this. I have rebooted, stopped suspected Google services, disabled sync....everything I can think of. Nothing works. It started around the time I was playing with getting Google Cloud Print to print a test page. The page didn't print so I went into the web portal for Cloud Print and deleted the job. I don't know if this is related to the WiFi issue I am having, but it might be.
Any one have the same issue? Any ideas on a fix? Any app that can tell me what is using the WiFi?
Oh...and when I turn WiFi off and go to mobile data, there is NO transfer of data shown. Only when WiFi is on.
I'm pure stock (Sense 5.5) and not rooted or s-off
Thanks!
