You might not be able to use Android Pay with a custom ROM.
I think that's the deal. I do use it , before google wallet work just fine .
@dratsablive is your phone on a custom ROM??

That's not true , after taking root off , then the app worked , after it work , enable root again and still work , both the root and the Android pay,

It did work for me too, is annoying now , now the phone has to have a lock screen set up. Google Wallet had better . It does look better to the eye though
For now, there is no guaranteed way to maintain both root & use Android Pay. XDA featured an explanation on the portal that was offered by one of Google's security engineers. It's fairly straightforward, if disappointing for anyone who wants both.
Mine stop working after a day ,
I just uninstall it , I was happy cuz it was annoying having the screen lock with a pin or pattern

Yes , for now the phone is on ARHD. I've read an article the apps looks for the build number , and cloak doesn't work at all. Not even with xpose,
I do use it too . Ohh well
I like the new UI looked way more polished than wallet lol
no info/answer on this i have not tried android pay before but good to know all issues for when needed.
has anyone tried dirty flashing a stock rom setting up android pay then dirty flashing back to the wanted rom?
Hello
any 6.0 versions out there with integreated Android PAY ?
I get it to add cards by:
chmod 751 /su/bin
then
renaming xbin_bind folder
As far as working haven't tried it yet
what do you rename to the xbin_bind folder to? doesn't seem to be working for me

Anything but xbin_bind.
I'm wondering about this too. I guess in the meantime I could always get a contactless credit card and superglue it to the back of the phone. To emulate the NFC effect, I could just turn on the torch.

well i think i'll wait till someone manage to root zvi .. XD
just received the ZVI update this morning. On one hand, I guess I should be pleased that LG cares just enough to keep updating this old device with security improvements and updates. After Toting back to ZVE and updating to ZVH, my GPS seems to be working finally. Was flaky to non functional since I got it(refurb from Freedompop) on ZVG.
However, it;s a pain in the butt to restore the firmware back to ZVE and lose root.
Please let us know if you figure out how to get root back on ZVI and thanks again
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the OTA update nag message or prevent the download of the update.zip file? Is there an APK I can freeze using Titanium Backup? Most annoying thing about the OTA update is that it doesn;t seem to care if you are on wifi or mobile data when it downloads/redownloads(which it will do infinitely).
It seems that ZVI non-rootable for now Shame! Security fix from 01-11-2015, so they fix holes in system = no-root. Back to ZVH, or cm13...

you root zvi?
Sorry to hear all of you weren't able to achieve root with the new update using the older method. I'm glad I stopped by here to do some reading before I updated. I was going to TOT back this weekend and take ZVI. Root is a must since I use the hotspot mod so ZVI is gonna hate to wait.
Hopefully someone will figure out a way around the newest security patch soon.
Need a little help disabling the ZVI OTA notification. I've tried several older methods but none have worked. I've selected the install later option but as you all know, the notification persists in the drop down menu. If possible, I would like to do away with it entirely until a method of rooting ZVI is created. Any info on disabling the notification would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Biker

Thanks. I used that method with my 1st Android phone using the Autostarts app. I just flashed CM12.1. I'll give it a try when I restore stock.
I've tried to tethering by popping my sim card out and putting it back in and it's not working anymore.

I couldn't get it to work either, though I didn't try on 6.0....
Looking for a solution!
Damn, 6.0.1 probably fixed it.

I have ATT and can not tether. Its tried to tell me to sign up for a plan. Im NOT rooted yet though, are you?
I was trying to hold off on rooting this phone for, well no real reason at all, but tethering is kind of a must for me.
Tried PDAnet and FoxFi also with no luck
You can enable tethering without root by modifying build.prop while in recovery. Your bootloader must be unlocked. There's a post in the general section about it.

yeah read that, thanks. Right now was holding off on that as well since it would wipe the phone and pretty much null OTA updates. I mean if Im unlocking the bootloader, a few more steps is TWRP and then FLASH AWAY! lol
Im sure Ill root, they always root
I agree; losing OTA updates is kind of a pain, but worth it to me to get tethering working again. I just flash updates manually from Google's stock images in fastboot, then modify build.prop to re-enable tethering.

no root. nothing. I just tested and it worked. I am on a recent next plan, not an old "unlimited" plan if that makes a difference.
Maybe. I'm a grandfathered unlimited

that must be it. Any plans after that come with tethering. You can find ways to bypass it with root though.

Helium works to restore data from device to device without root. I used it on my gs7 when transferring without root from a rooted phone. If it's not rooted, you just have to connect it to a computer to enable restore.
Looks like I'm going to T-Mobile today to switch phones

That was the first thing i tried. Titanium will not get into its most used function (restore) without root. It looks like it is designed around root.....

If you install the computer application, it enables the non rooted phone to be able to create backups and do restores. It worked fine for me and I didn't use the paid version.

Now THAT'S what's up! My only concern is that when you're going from an older phone with a different version of Android, going to a newer phone and/or version of Android, I would think that issues may occur.

Helium only restores data I believe, not the app. I backed up from an m7 on lollipop to a gs7 on marshmallow. As long as the app is downloaded already the new phone data transfer should be simple.

Ok, so it's OK to log into Gmail and the Play store, allow all apps to install/restore from the Google Cloud, and THEN use Helium.... Correct?

Awesome. I will give it a try. Can you select or omit certain apps from being backed up? I'm not sure I would trust backing up my banking applications. So I would prefer to simply just log in from scratch on the new phone.

When on your old phone, you just backup specific apps/contacts/etc you want to backup. It doesn't do anything like a nandroid backup where all are backed up

Does anybody abandon root?
It's been almost a month and nothing happened.
I recently got my friends OnePlus 3 but he couldn't remember pattern so I resetted via stock recovery, however, it needed google verification. I tried all the things on YouTube as well as upgrading to oxygen os 9.0.5 via sideload, it still didn't work
Booting in fastboot is useless because I can't go into the phone to enable unlock bootloader
Do you guys have any more ideas for how to unlock ?
FRP is also called theft protection, and the whole point of it is that if it gets stolen with a Google account configured in accounts when doing a factory reset, only that account can be used to unlock it. That's why it's so important for previous owner to remove his Google account before factory resetting it and selling/handing it over to you.
So the solution is simple, just let your friend configure it again using his Google account, then remove it under accounts before factory resetting and then you can enter your account to take ownership of the device.

I already found a solution to this already. About letting me friend configure, he permanent moved to another country already, thanks for the advice though.
So what I did was to use once again ADB sideload to roll back to earliest oxygen I could get (android 8.00) which enabled me to exploit through talkback into chrome and settings and so on, which I couldn't do on Android pie.
