[Q]Looking for a kernel - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm looking for a kernel with fast charge and working IR blaster for a TW 4.4.4 ROM (currently running MD v1.3). I've tried ktoonsez, googymax, imperium, and AEL. Does anybody know of one that fits the bill?

How about kernel Sander's he's good at cooking stuff.
Lol.
The features your looking for are baked into the touchwiz roms (Samsung) and you would probably have to be on a type of stock TW rom to have that.
Did you try Google?
Pp.

As mentioned in my previous post I'm running a TW ROM. It's a KitKat 4.4.4 ROM based on the stock T-Mo ROM from the looks of things. There are no kernels by kernel sanders here on XDA and Google turns up no relevant info either. But if you're talking about KFC it's Colonel Sanders, not Kernel Sanders. And yes I tried Google AND searched a few other sites as well.

So MD. 1.3 is a custom TW rom?
Not familiar with it.
I run stock / rooted and the IR blaster works fine, fast charging could be an AOSP mod, if not mistaken.
You could try the Ktoons thread since he specializes in kernel mods.

SGH-I747 Kernel flashing 101

So I have got a question that maybe many others have yet to voice or address (maybe it's just me, and I am delusional). In any event, I am not new to rooting and flashing ROMS. I am also familiar--at least conceptually--with what the kernel is and what it does. For the purposes of this post however, I should mention that I have not ever flashed a custom kernel and am unsure as to why one would or why there is more than one floating around. I have been vacillating back on forth between stock and custom kernels....it seems like in order to flash this ROM you need this Kernel, or that ROM flash that Kernel. I want to learn and to know. I would really appreciate feedback on this.

Kernel's are installed or "flashed" in the same manner as a custom ROM, either through CWM or Odin. Kernel's just add an extra level of customization, most people use custom Kernel's for overclocking although they also have many other uses.
Kernals can also highly affect battery life and the speed of roms. The kernal has to match the kind of rom. Samsung kernals go with samsung/touchwiz based roms. Aosp kernals go with aosp based roms like cyanogenmod and aokp. There are a few jellybean kernals and those will work for the current jellybean aosp based roms. Samsung will eventually release their own jellybean update and when that happens expect to see jellybean samsung kernals made for roms based on samsung jellybean.

[Q]Stock *based* ROM similar to ARHD?

The whole development and original development having different threads is confusing, could someone point me into the direction of an optimized stock based ROM (Deodexed and the like.?) perhaps similar to ARHD?
Anything you highly recommend?
I just unsoftbricked my friend's sgs3 after he did some bad flashes or something else weird, thankfully ODIN worked fine. He was trying to switch back to stock rooted from Liquidsmooth, I suggested Carbon but he wants something stock/stock-based apparently. If nothing exists I'll put him on stock rooted.
Thanks for any help!

Stock based roms are in android development, aosp roms are in original development. Freeza's rom is stock, clean rom is stock debloated. There are others too, just read each roms OP.
I would also recommend MOAR (Mother of All ROMS) and TPR (The Peoples ROM), both are in android development

TPR: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013463

Actually TW ROMs are in Android development and AOSP ROMs are in both original and android development.

That's true, thanks for correcting me.
If you're looking for a stock ROM with some mods added in I would suggest MOAR, TPR, or as selfish as it sounds, my ROM. Link below.

Best kernel+ROM combo for my AT&T Galaxy S3

Recently i got the AT&T SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 I747 STOCK JELLY BEAN ON 4.1.1 from GALASXY S2 SKYROCKET (at&t) also but i need the best combo (kernel+ROM) but its hard to find one
here is what am looking for:-
- good, stable DATA/MOBILE NETWORK CONNECTION (MUST HAVE) IMPORTANT
- bloatware free
- fast/overclocking
- easy/not too complex that will fup my phone
- anything that i have not mentioned is relevant too
- other great features like Bravia engine, goo manager, extra features that make it more awsome
- cyanogenmod stable qualities (bug free) sleek, smooth, fast UI and transitions
any kind of idea is valid, open to every suggestion
If you are looking for a touchwiz ROM, go try S3Rx. If you are looking for a pure android based ROM, go for Task's AOKP. I think those are some of if not the best Roms of their kind.

That's for you to experiment and decide not everyone has the same experience on a rom.
Just make a backup of your current setup and start flashing away.
Trial and error.
I may be new here but I know enough, To tell you no one is going to answer your question. A Rom that works for one person is not necessarily the same Rom that will work for another. Flashing Rom's is about hopefully stability, if your lucky speed and battery life, but most importantly about customization. I just started flashing Roms and am still looking for the one I want. I'm sure as soon as I find it a new release will come out and I will get to start over again. As for Kernels I am not comfortable enough to delve into that yet...Good luck...

Best S3, non touchwiz ROM I have found is SlimBean. Not as flashy as some but rock solid/stable with the best battery life I have found so far. Like CM, it is backed by team of devs versus some roms that just have chefs that mix/match/blend features together.
i have been on that PATH as in trying different ROMS but once i tried several i completely fup my DATA/mobile network, i would text and call but my internet (not to be confused with WIFI) stopped working and yu know as a tech savvy guy yu gotta try everything little trick yu know to fix it but there was nothing
forced to use wifi until the day i bought the AT&T S3 and i have my data internet connection working again
i need a ROM that doesnt leave me with no DATA CONNECTION
restoring from nandroid backups helps and sometimes it might not work , other than CM which other ROMS THAT CAN KEEP UP WITH MY DATA CONNECTION

Glad to here it. I have not been brave enough to get into kernel flashing yet. Can you tell me was it a simple flash? How do you revert back to a stock kernel? I here there is a lot of tweaking to do with some kernels? Was Ziggy's pre-set?

You just flash it the same way you do with a ROM. Remember you wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing the kernel and if you dirty flash roms, you have to reflash the kernel each time because the stock kernel overwrites it. You revert back to stock kernel by flashing the ROM again or finding the kernel zip and flashing it separately. You can undervolt and overclock with a different kernel that allows it.

[Q] ktoonsez TW 4.1.2 kernel

Ive been searching XDA for the TW 4.1.2 ktoonsez kernel, but I cant find it. can anyone link to a working download for the T-mobile S3? Thanks
LuigiBull has a massive thread with every version of that kernel. Including the one you are after. But my advice is to avoid the TW version. It's not good, stock is much better.
Thanks. I know I've seen that thread somewhere but I couldn't find it. I'm running goosh Rom and it's great but I wanted to try the ktoonz kernel since I've heard so much about it. Is there another TW kernel for 4.1.2 that would be good, or are all TW kernels not that great?

faux has one. I tried it and wasn't impressed. I keep going back to the stock MD5 kernel. I've heard the AT&T MG2 kernel is good, but I've never used it.

Looking for mostly stock ROM

I am coming from the Note 2 and on that phone I used RWilcos Mostly Stock ROM which is basically just the stock ROM with small tweaks, root, bloatware removed etc.
It did not have any bugs that effected the functionality which I've seen with other ROMs (CM etc).
Does anyone have a recommendation for a 100% functional stable ROM almost that won't remove all the great Note features but still have the added features and performance, battery life , root etc of the custom ROMs?
Thanks for any help.

First of all, is the phone new and already updated to stock 5.1.1?
If so you have a locked bootloader (but still have options) .
If you have 5.0.1 or older version your in luck.

Best of the best by @tx_dbs_tx.
CM and ports require more attention whether it be developer, user or both.
Stock-like TW narrows it down for you. IMO, the two most active and capable developers in TW for Sprint Note 4 are tx_dbs_tx and freeza. They both have released very stock and also modified ROMs. Then there's OBAR that got a lot testing and users as well to make sure the bugs were squashed; still has support and also user community support.
If you don't want to get into kernel tweaking but want something with default and optimization out of the box- better than stock, consider freeza's Beastmode kernel or the newer Rage kernel that is integrated in Note 4our ROM (Don't be put off by the beta; it's stable but more customization is expected). Otherwise, take your pick and run the included kernel or choose another custom Android 5.1.1 kernel like AEL or Emotion for Sprint Note 4.
Personally, I prefer freeza's kernel. I've posted some battery stats in freeza's Beastmode kernel and Note 4our ROM threads.
I couldn't narrow it any further than this. You'd have to decide yourself or try as many as you like to make a definitive decision. Lots of choices and opinions vary; that's a good thing.

Which one of freeza's kernels gives better battery? Have you compared them to AEL? I'm using AEL 6.2,and while it has decent battery, it lags a bit.

IMO, they're equal on battery.
Rage may be slightly better on multitasking but there's extra scripts in play with the integrated ROM.
No lag but I've ran freeza kernels since Beastmode because they're close to stock with no setup to tweak.
Prior to that, I preferred stock kernel but thanks to Samsung, can't run it with root anymore. No recent compare to AEL or Emotion.
