New here, but I used to have my G3 rooted with stump root. I saw an update was available and I couldn't download with it rooted (i tried numerous times). so I decided to unroot during the SuperSU fully unroot option. The update came once again and I'm still not able to download it. I've tried using root apps but cant and when I try to update OTA it says it fails. Any advice?

Hello, my problem is that I can't seem to get a working root on my G3. I tried purpledrake, everything went flawlessly but when I tried to install SuperSU it just told me that I had no binaries, and SuperSU couldn't install them. Tried Superuser, and checked with Root Checker if I had root, and it told me I didn't. So I'm thinking that I'm unable to root becuase of my firmware version. I'm currently on v10G (international version.) So If anyone of you kind people could help me out, I'd appreciate it a lot!
i have rooted my lg g3 with stump root, i would like to remove the root to update my lg to the lollipop software i have used supersu to full unroot and remove all root apps, i use root checker and it states i'm unrooted but when i go and install new software a message appears advising me unable to update a rooted device, can anyone help me i am unable to access a computer to unroot, i'm using my android !
I would like some help on this matter as well
Hi, so I while back I rooted my AT&T LG G3 (d850) and decided to unroot so I could get the lollipop update whenever that was going to be released. I completely reset it back to it's stock firmware and everything. After so many months of waiting for lollipop, I got fed up with it and decided I would try flashing a lollipop rom, but when I tried to root my phone with towel root and stump root, both of them said my device wasn't supported. Could anyone tell me why this might be? I was all ready to go, but for some reason I can't re-root even though it's basically a brand new phone.

You can't root lollipop as of yet. The only way to root is to downgrade to Kitkat.

Try purpledrake, that should work if you haven't taken any otas. If that doesn't work you will have to do as mentioned and flash previous software with the flashtool.
Thank you to everyone that helped! I figured out my problem. AT&T rolled out an OTA update which changed my build number from 10d to 10f. I just downgraded my firmware and was able to root. I'm successfully running CM12 now!
Hi there,
I was wondering if i can simply use the super su apps "full unroot" option in the settings to unroot my D850 so I can receive the OTA lollipop update? I have been stock this whole time, and just rooted in order to remove some apps and to use greenify. I have never flashed a rom or flashed a recovery. I did a few tweaks such as volume mods and added xcam for the lg g3. Please let me know if this is an option, i believe i rooted using purpledrake one click method a long time ago.

Hi! I'm in South Korea and I didn't receive the Lollipop update OTA.... I connected my phone to LG PC Suite and the phone updated from there.. and I didn't have to unroot. Have you tried connecting your phone to LG PC Suite and update from there? Good luck
When on KitKat .. OTA updates always gave me that message of rooting suspected even though I used SU to fully un-root..
IMO.. Lollipop sucks.. I was on Lollipop for a few days and went back to KK after a few days..LOL.. I'd suggest wait for root on Lollipop and then update...There's no root yet for Lollipop..

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I am using Mac and I think the pc suite is different from the windows version. Guess I will have to wait and borrow someone's pc and try updating through that. Thanks!

does this actually work?? for US LG g3 variants?
Hi,
Phone tells me it cannot update because it is rooted. Anyway to do this without having to reflash stock then root it every time an update comes out. tried unroot option of SU, just gets stuck trying. tryied apps like "hide my root" and it still tells me I'm rooted. Maybe there is a way to unroot ? I searched and found no answers for this problem.
You have to reflash stock.
