Challenge - Root my NEC N-04C MEDIAS

I am laying down a challenge to see if anyone can work out how to root the NEC N-04C MEDIAS...
I haven't found anything about this phone being rooted...apart from some attempts by some Japanese guys, which have so far failed, as far as I can tell...
I don't know much about phones/computers, but know enough to get me by. Have tried to learn how to do it myself for the past few months, but don't have the skills.
So...it is over to whoever reads this and wants to take on the challenge...
I have copies of the following files which I can post online if needed:
These cannonly be downloaded from NEC using the IMEI of your pruchased N-03C MEDIAS phone...
bionic_N-04C.tar
external_N-04C.tar
kernel_N-04C.tar
system_N-04C.tar
vendor_N-04C.tar
I am not sure if you need these files to work out how to root the N-03C, but they may be useful...right/wrong?
Anyway...looking forward to hearing from people about this challenge, and if anyone thinks they can root this phone...or knows of anyone who has rooted it already.
Nobody interested???

Any luck so far? I have also asked a few people about this as I am going to Japan very soon and seriously considering this phone. But I may have to get a Samsung Galaxy (blech!!!) instead just so I can have root privileges.
I have the same problems. Wish someone help.

[Q] A couple questions about rooting and Multi-Window display.

I was just wondering what rooting a phone actually does? Like what are the benefits?
Sorry if that's a dumb question, just never really rooted a phone before.
As of right now I have everything I want in my Note 3, and the only thing I am wanting right now is to add more apps to my Multi-Window display
So jumping to my second question off of that last statement I was wondering if I could get any other apps on my Multi-Window display WITHOUT rooting?
I've looked at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024399 about rooting a Galaxy Note 2 with Verizon, but after following all the steps it doesn't seem to work for my T-Mobile Note 3, so I'm stuck.
I just want to know what all I can do by rooting and what the negative/positive sides of rooting your phone is? I have heard from people that rooting can "brick" your phone-or something? Idk.
I just don't want my phone to break!

You can't use the rooting procedure for the Note 2 to root Note 3. Each phone has different procedure to root. You'll need to find the procedure for the Note 3 for your carrier. I'm also currently trying to find a thread to root a Note 3 as I'm getting one today, so I'll try to edit this post with the link to the thread.
EDIT: this is the method to root the Note 3: Universal Root de la Vega. Please spend a LOT of time reading and rereading the thread as you can damage your phone if mess up
Cheers,

[Q] Android L, aka... LOLLIPOP

Will lollipop destroy our chances for root? Upgrading to this very exciting, tempting, operating system, will take away our chance to modify our own device.... It is our device, why can't we use it, do with it, how we want. Upgrade equals no root... Does anyone know this very important answer to this horrible question. Upgrade to lollipop means no root, ever?

there's no way to tell if that is true or not. Hell, we dont even have root right now, without lollipop. In general, if you want to keep root access, its wise not to accept any OTA updates but thats not always the case. Only time will tell....

I'm going to update. regardless. Even with Apple and their jailbreak and their iOS, you update and lose the cydia.. The god of their phone and iPad jailbreak. Live it and love it. With us and Android, I'll update and hope that someone will be able to root it. As I read, what I read, it will be ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to do. If not IMPOSSIBLE. ANYONE want to back me up on this? I hate to say it due to I want root a bad as, well less than sex, but I want it. Lollipop, blocks all root ability from that update forth.... Anyone? Please bring the knowledge
I doubt lollipop will be the end all for root access but it will likely be extremely difficult. There always a vulnerability somewhere that a Dev can exploit.
That's kinda what I'm hoping. With every update, there was a jailbreak, a root. Someone, somewhere out there will get us the coveted, elusive root exploit. OR will these tricks of the trade, will the tweaks be a built in commodity? Will they just be able to be Installed free of root restrictions. Let's get the root done people. Satisfy the masses
It's honestly not that serious. I have owned every Nexus phone (except the 6 obviously) and rooted them all except for the 5. I missed the CM11 themes but there are enough apps for customizations out there now that I didn't feel the need to do anything to the phone. If you're THAT concerned, I'd recommend selling your phone when the N6 comes out and buy that.
From everything that is coming out that I have read about Android L it looks like a few of the apps may be able to work without root if they are reprogrammed correctly. It looks like Google wants everyone to be able to have the functions they need \ want without compromising the security of the phone.
Just saw today that Write To External SD will be fixed in Lollipop without root

I just read chainfire was able to root lollipop on the Nexus 9 and adjust his SuperSu to work with it. So who knows there might be the a chance that it might be easier for him to root the note 4 with lollipop. We have to wait and see.

Marshmallow root

So my turbo just updated to marshmallow, and I'm curious as to whether that opened the door to root and possibly bootloader unlock. BTW the Moto x force thread needs to be moved from this one. They're 2 different phones. I mean they're the same, but anything on Verizon is always going to be different. We all know this. Chime in guys!

Too soon to tell if it opened up any possible exploits, best thing is to keep an eye on this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2/general/root-discussionthink-tank-t3239979
The X-Force question came up before, mods said it's basically the same phone so it's not getting it's own section.
If anything, it patched a bunch of exploits and made it that much harder to root the phone. Unless Motorola does the same thing as they did with the one Moto X on Verizon, I doubt the bootloader will ever be unlocked.

I feel like this could happen one of 4 ways.
1. Good ol diggin round code.
2.Motorola employee helps us.
3.someone me (I've tried) but both Motorola reps and Verizon reps are unhelpful but someone might do better. Maybe get it " escalated"
4. Just hope....
Also I just really think it's possible to get past the people who know nothing about it and find someone willing to help.. Then again maybe just simply wishful thinking.

^^^This. Whoever has had success cracking BLs on Verizon Moto devices in the past might help, or at the very least point you in the right direction. You also might be able to get some of the CM devs that have worked on VZW Moto devices in the past.
I know Verizon has been notorious about locking their phones down for a while now, but can it really be completely locked? There has to be something there that can be cracked right? Nothing is impossible right?
Hey, guys, I haven't checked in for awhile, but would someone be willing to work on it for a bounty? I mean if we could pool together somewhere between $500-$1k wouldn't it be worth it for someone who has a ton of knowledge in this comeover and help?
I'd be willing to donate to that cause even though my sig says otherwise...
Same here I second that, seems the hard part would be setting this up, I mean this is a great phone if devs would come on board
Rooted and installed twrp KINZIE today. Followed a italian tutorial for the Moto X Force. Android 6.0
http://www.androidiani.com/forum/mo...moto-x-force-ottenere-i-permessi-di-root.html
I would pay too if somebody hopped on the developer train for the X-Force !

No he has the moto x force it's confusing they shouldn't be posting in this thread they can root this is about obtaining a root exploit. To be honest I don't care that he rooted his phone it's not such a triumph the damn phone is unlocked.

That's what I thought. Still not sure why the mod won't separate the threads. It gets stupid and confusing...

There is a bounty thread started in Q&A

I want to change the ugly, unintuitive material design soft buttons.
I know that verizon locks down their phones.
I want to root so that I can get back the old Holo soft buttons (ics, jelly bean, kitkat) and maybe holo blue.
I know from experience that root can make a device much more laggy.
This is my main and only phone that I can use, so I don't want to take many chances.

Who told you root makes a phone lag that is 100% false. Anyway there is no root method at this time.
I have a droid razr that I rooted in jelly bean. Since that, it's more laggy and unresponsive. Probably because of the root processes running in the background
There is no such thing as "root process". Root is just about rights to access particular part of the system, run specific commands or applications.

He is asking for an X-force developer (since there's a lack of roms) so gonna say no.

Yea he just doesn't know what he's talking about here, maybe he installed something that was eating away at the CPU or RAM or both, also may have been a bad root method to

Titan security chip affect rooting?

This is something im not too familiar with, this Titan Security chip they have, but would this affect rooting? Contemplating if I am going to buy a pixel 3 or not and this is something I've been wondering about since I seen that? I believe this chip is used in other phones, right?
I am also curious about this? Losing the ability to root wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would really suck
The thing that concerned me most is that during the presentation they mentioned verifying operating system integrity. This might be a huge thing for rooting, but we'll have to see what @topjohnwu is able to do. He already pre-ordered one and is in the U.S. so we should know in a few weeks
100% - The Titan M Chip is in charge of Secure Boot and doing TIMA like Integrity Checking.
At least from what I've seen
So possible root but no custom recovery/roms?

doesn't sound good for root...we'll have to see what happens.
