I woke up this morning and received the 5.0.2 update for my Zenwatch. According to this link, there's nothing super visible that it resolves, but just a bunch of behind-the-scenes fixes.
Obviously I can't comment on improvements to battery life or anything just yet.
Anyone notice the card peeks now cause the watch face to shrink rather than just being on top of the watch face. The shrunken face looks terrible with all of the empty space. Is there a fix to this?

The first picture shows no card peek. You can see how the watch face takes up the whole screen. The second image shows a peek with the smaller watch face.
The notifications sometimes drive me nuts too. In the Android Wear app on your phone, there's an option to "block app notifications". I basically turn everything off except texts.
I noticed this in 5.0.0, so it's nothing new to 5.0.2. There are so many annoying notifications (WiFi available, WiFi joined, etc)
I have the impression that battery lasts longer with 5.0.2. Is this just placebo or do you experience something similar?

I also feel like the battery is lasting longer although I admit it could be entirely in my head. With normal use in getting 24+ hours before and after 5.0.2.
Mostly fixes issues with Google Fit sync. Updates Google Services to a new version that fixes that issue. I am sure there are other small bug fixes but nothing in the way of new features or fixing annoying UI quirks.

Reset the watch. After a day or two the battery life should be back to normal.

Factory reset. Your battery life is probably caused by a Play Services issue. Factory reset should clear play services data and probably clear up your issue. All of your apps should be sync back to the watch so it's not really a hassle. You may experience significant drain for the first day since it will have to sync.

Caused by Zenwatch Manager. If you uninstall Zenwatch Manager and factory reset the watch and then do not install Zenwatch Manager it wont do it. I think its because newer versions of Zenwatch Manager contain updated watch faces that have this behavior. They get uploaded to the watch upon installation.
I've always had zenwatch manager and am generally at about 25% when I plug it in at night, 16-18 hours after taking it off the charger

Got my lovely new galaxy nexus and have been absolutely loving it apart from the battery life. Its not uncommon for it to be in the red after 8 to 10 hours with only an hour or less of screen on time. Im not new to android so ive tried the usual stuff like checking sync settinga... the culprit appears to be android os. According to the battery use screen, the android os 'keep awake' time is the same as the time on battery, so about 10 hours. This seems ridiculous. Has anyone seen anything similar and what can i do about it?
When you go to battery and click Android OS - are you seeing the keep awake time here as very long? Or are you talking about the awake graph when you click the graph at the top?
This shouldn't be happening in any case. Click through all the apps on the main battery screen and see which one is awake the most. Some app must be calling some android API and keeping things awake. Worst case uninstall apps a few at a time and try to narrow it down.
If you've recently installed any new apps one of those may be misbehaving, otherwise you may need to do a factory reset to fix it.

Its when i click android os- the keep awake is the same as the time on battery, or sometimes more. Ill double check the graph.
Its been like this since I bought it I think, but since it automatically gets the apps I had on my old phone on first boot, it could be one of them. Ive also been splashing out in the 10p sales.
So probably just factory reset and gradually reinstall things? Thanks.

xhausx - My problem doesn't seem quite the same- they're reporting a high percentage on the android os process, but for me it's more like 20% rather than 40 or so. It's more the lack of ever sleeping that's the problem I think.
I've got watchdog installed- what should I be looking for exactly?
Looking through my installed apps I realised that Flash was there even though it's not supported. I've removed that, time will tell if that was relevant!
A not for anyone else having this problem - It's early days but battery life seems better and the phone now sleeps! I removed a few items but Flash stands out as the suspect. So anyone who migrated from another device with flash installed, make sure that flash didn't end up on your nexus when it resynced apps with your google account.
I did the Google 'resync' but for some reason Flash 11 didn't transfer over. Same for Air.
Just as a comparison. My SGN has been on this charge for 1day 13 hours and my Android OS keep awake time is only 2 hours 28 minutes and I have about 45 apps installed. So if you have high keep awake time one if your apps is causing it.
I got such good battery life this run cause I wasn't using it with the screen on constantly.

That I know, but wasn't aware the sync option also looked at this. First time transfer from Android phone to Android phone.

Now I'm not sure if you checked this but in the "developer options" of the settings menu there is a "stay awake mode" and even though it says "only when powered" but could it be that is checked and working all the time?
I had this problem too, and in true IT Crowd fashion, turning it off and on again sorted it out. Problem is, now I've found out GPS isn't working on my phone. Goddamn it.

Let us know what your have found after the update. Good and bad.
Since the update my WiFi has dropped out on my home network twice. Have to restart or turn airplane mode on/off.
Also I don't think the battery has improved any....

Yeah, its true. It slipped my mind. Probably this particular portion of the software was developed at the last moment, and they didn't have enough time to test it thoroughly
I have narrowed my wifi drop outs to the beyond pod app.
My camera won't focus after updating. I had the problem prior, but did the alcohol microfiber run to get the coating off and it was working great. After I updated the camera now seems like it won't focus, only objects within 5 inches are in focus. I did a factory reset and made sure that the camera wasn't set to macro mode. Nothing is working to fix this problem. I think my camera might just be broken now.

Now after a few days i think that the battery cannot hold on so long as with 4.4.2. Previously i could run it two days with moderate use, now the battery level drops to 20% after 24 hours.
At the update the battery was not fully charged. Is this behavior normal after the update, did i make a mistake, or does anybody else have the same problem?
I'm on 19% after 13 hours. WTF is going on? I cannot see any suspicious app causing this. Can i revert to 4.4.2? LOL...

I have (or had) the same problem as you with the new update. Try clearing the cache partition (that's what I've been told). I'm still keeping my eye on the battery to see if it's fixed. The problem for me was that Android Kernel and Android System was using too much battery.

These battery results are pretty bad compared to what I was getting prior to 4.4.3 (i got 2d5h once with 4h on screen and 7 hours awake).
Hi! I think i was able to fix it, the issue appeared on other devices which received 4.4.3. I cleared the cache for Google Play Store and for GP Services. Now i'm at 50% after 20 hours.

Hi, everyone, this is my first time here, so bear with me. On Wednesday, August 28, I downloaded the new Kit Kat 4.4.3 update from AT&T onto my One M8. Right after and for a few hours after, everything was in great condition as always. I've had my M8 since launch and haven't had a problem since and hold it very dear to me. Then, after about four hours, I noticed the phone was getting hot, really hot. I had power saver on as always and I saw that the CPU was taxed at 97%, just having Instagram running and YouTube actively showing a video. So I restarted the phone, clearing the cache and making sure that nothing was working too hard. That's when the problems really started coming up. It was getting hot but I ignored it and went to the Play Store to update my banking app and download Reddit News. After seven minutes of a normally one minute (if that) update, I stopped the download, cleared the cache and tried again. Nothing. So Google Play won't download, update, or install apps, Google, or third-party. That's not all. Hangouts will not send messages. Even in full LTE connectivity and 5 GHz Wifi AC, message could not send both to Android users (one used messages, the other Hangouts) and to an iPhone. It was like deja vu with my old iPhone 4S. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. YouTube was giving me hell, too. When I would type into the search bar to search for a video, the search bar would clear. For example, if I'm looking up and type into the search bar on YouTube "Linus Tech Tips," then it'll work. But if after that I backspace or "x" out "Linus Tech Tips," and type something else, say, "Build a Gaming PC," If I use Swype (Swiftkey, Google Keyboard, or HTC Sense), the first word shows up, but as I'm typing, the subsequent words are erased and "Linus Tech Tips" shows up in the search bar (check him out if you don't already). This is EXTREMELY frustrating and now I can't watch The Joy of Painting. Damn. Finally, the CPU and heat I mentioned before is crazy. The CPU is always between 79% and 99% at all times. the RAM is usually at about 75% as normal, but the CPU is running nuclear hot. It's going to 105-115 degrees Fahrenheit. This worries me, all of this, because I wonder if this is the fault of the new 4.4.3 update for the AT&T M8 model or maybe underlying causes. I've had Malwarebytes scan my phone and find nothing. That caches are cleared and nothing seems to work. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful because my only option in my mind is to do a hard factory reset of the device. I've gone from 3 charges a day previously, and today the watch is reporting I have almost 2 days remaining of charge.
First, FULLY cycle the battery. Leave it on the stand over night, run it until it turns off (if you're in a rush, ambient display, full brightness!). Then, full charge to 100% and leave it for an hour on the charger once it is full.
After that, do a factory reset on the watch (in settings). In Android Wear on phone, use the settings menu to resync your apps.
Do one more full discharge and full charge, and you should be sorted.
If not, use the Watch Battery section of the wear app to identify problem apps. Before today, I had never seen a "watch idle" entry, because an app was holding the watch awake. Identifying and removing that app has solved the rest of my problems.
Hope all this works. Some of the steps seem/may be unnecessary, such as the factory reset, multiple full charge cycles. However, I speak from experience that they do work!
Edit: Do be aware that the charge cycles where you do a factory reset and sync will drastically drain the battery, giving the illusion that the problem is still there.

So which app was that. Could you be specific please? I've had my 360 since October and had no issues with battery life until about 2 weeks ago and now it can't make it through a work shift all of a sudden. I've seen the 'watch idle' and the android guy with no title in the battery stats (as well as 'Bluetooth', which is mind blowing) as the main drains but I can't figure out which apps need the boot. Thanks in advance for the help, this problem is driving me crazy!
For me it was WeChat. I didn't even know it had a wear component. However, using Wear Battery Stats (available on Google Play) I noticed that there was a missing icon under "app activity" because it had updated that day. Tapping on this blank icon told me it was an activity belonging to WeChat. Using this, I deduced that was the problem app. Removing it seems to have solved my issue. I'd recommend a similar process, although I only found this app on that day due to it updating, so you may struggle. I get the impression the standard of coding of wear apps so far is pretty shoddy, I don't think not providing a package name and icon is unusual or specific to this one app.

fyi - i haven't tested this since it happened, but i disabled BT on my phone (just disabled in settings, without disconnecting the wtch first) and the watch drained itself in probably about 20-30 minutes. When I finally got it charged, it said BT took everything.
When I was having app issues, I also noticed very high bluetooth consumption. This could likely be a poorly coded app constantly trying to ping your phone for data and receiving no reply as it is not designed for a scenario where your phone is not connected.
The alternative of course is defective hardware.
A step I did not include in my original post was that I also clean-flashed a new rom on my phone. I felt this was due to a unique problem that I had (bluetooth problems in car also) but nonetheless thought I should mention that too. It's hard to be sure which step exactly cured my watch.
Same was happening to me, after several master resets and trial and error, i found that on my Samsung s7 edge i had my watch set as a trusted device so when it was connected to my phone my device would unlock without passcode. After turning that off, battery life is normal again, 24hrs plus. I think the constant bluetooth checking to see if it was attached drained battery extremely fast, hopefully this helps someone
Okay, this weekend, on a Friday, I drove to DC. As soon as navigation started on my Nexus 6, my watch started to display the navigation notifications. I quickly blocked the app, as I didn't want the 3+ hours of navigation to drain my watch.
2.5 hours into the trip, I look at my watch's battery, and it's down to 30%!!! I started the trip at about 90%. Not happy, very scared about running out of power. Figure out it's a bug, or whatever, and I factory reset that night.
During the weekend, while I'm in DC, I notice that it is not the normal battery life, despite a factory reset Friday night.
On the way home, Sunday, I noticed a huge drain as well. Not wanting to lose any more power, I turn it on AIRPLANE MODE when at 47%.
HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.
I get a notification that says something like "Maps Navigation App stopped." I don't remember the exact phrasing.
However, this leads me to believe that I was experiencing the battery drain because while I was blocking the Maps app, it was still running on my watch! What's up with that? I thought it totally stopped the app.
Am I correct? Does a blocked app still run while the watch despite being blocked?
IF so... how do I "fix" this? Is that possible?
Or, was something else draining my battery?

Okay, from another thread I was discussing on Android Central, another user found that Maps and probably other apps weren't totally OFF when the Notification was set to be BLOCKED. Meaning, even though you are Blocking a certain app, it appears that it is still running in the background of the watch, and that is leading to huge drains.
Anybody take any road trips or commuting with their moto360 and using Google Maps notice this?

Once I start navigation, by battery plummets. I can't stop it. Then the battery usage says that Bluetooth uses the most battery. So I am gonna keep trying different things. Don't factory reset your phone. It doesn't help. Resetting the watch doesn't help either. I think its an issue with Android 5.0.2. But that's a guess. What else can it be?

Mine also died again after three hours of driving yesterday, and this is with the latest Android Wear update (on the phone). When I tried to charge it, I got constant Google app and Android Wear crashes. I was finally able to reset the watch to get it back to working.

Mine charged back up without an issue but Maps definitely kills the watch even with notifications blocked.

Mine has charged up normally before too, in fact it did last night. The one time it didn't was pretty scary though.

2 weeks after Android 11 update, my pixel 2 xl started to feel hot and the battery was discharging quickly. On Google help, many people were in my case, and many of them mentioned about unstalling Tunein. Which I did, then my phone stopped to be warm but this didn't stop the drain issue. What I have noticed is that if I don't touch my phone, the battery acts as normal, slow discharge, but when I use it, meaning when the screen is on, the battery just discharges at a crazy speed. It was not like that just before the Android 11 update. Anyone got this problem and found the reason / a fix ?

Yes, strange. Mine gets a serious battery drain from 100% to 50% in a short time, even when I don't use it. Then below 50% it is very stable as long as I don't use it. Never experienced this before.

I have the same problem. before that, I was calmly getting 4-6h SOT After updating to Android 11 as lucky as I get 4h SOT. Mostly, however, I have 2.5-3.5 hours. The standby time seems ok, Only during use the battery disappears very fast. ? In my free time I will try the factory reset.

Hello gentlemen, i got this problem with october update in particular.
So, digging in a google forum i found a user who recommended to install an updated version of Android System Webview (maybe you should download it from apkpure or apkmirror) , Carrier Services and.... uninstall Tune-in (yep... the radio app)
I don't know which one did the trick... but it just did..

Sure, i installed webview 86.04240 and (there was a mistake in my prev post) Device Health Services 1.17.0.331553323.
Anyway, i got 2 webview updates since then... so, just install the last one... if you got auto-updates enable you should have your problem fixed by now (i guess that happened to the op).

thanks for the info, unfortunately I checked and I have exactly the same version of the application installed. the problem with the battery remains. the strangest thing is that I have no problem with idle drain, but when used with the screen on, the phone uses almost twice as much energy as before ?
I have the same problem, idle drain is ok, but whenever I use the phone, the battery drains very fast.

I actually did a factory reset today but the battery drain is still there...

I had the same problem and it was a new (at least to me) Google program called "Digital Wellbeing". I had to turn it off, which wasn't a straight forward proposition. I even "uninstalled" which just uninstalled the updates and they came back.
I don't recall exactly all the steps I took, but I now have my trusty Pixel 2 XL back to it's previous battery usage. Which is excellent for a three year old device.
Anyway, turn it off, take away all it's permissions, and do everything you can to shut it down. I was almost ready to root my device just to really get rid of it.
I disabled digital wellbeing, stopped the permissions, and uninstalled the update on the play store, but it didn't fix the battery drain...

A few days have passed and I can see a significant improvement. Honestly, I don't know what actually helped. some app update or maybe something I did, but there's a significant improvement.
In general, I would like to remind that from the update to android 11 my battery was tragic but only when using it, there was no problem with standby.
I was barely able to get 4 SOT hours. Now I can safely exceed 6 hours.
The only modifications I made were:
- leave beta program of digital welbing and its complete shutdown app
- disabled wifi scanning
- disabled Location service for emergency calls ELS
Since then, battery consumption with the screen on has dropped from 25-30%/ h to 12-16%/h. The phone is like new again. In addition, everything works very quickly and smoothly. ??
