Would be nice (lollipop is atrocious) but unlikely to Win10's closed source drivers.

I agree in most part regarding lollipop. Think KK is much better.
I cant say I'd like Windows 10 on my Nexus 7 though. My life seems to be faster, more consistent and just better without Micro$oft and Intel in it.

No.

figured it'd be neat

Given the price of Windows tablets it's probably not worth the time and effort for any dev.
BTW - has anyone else noticed that participation on XDA forums seems to be down?
I am curious whether the success of Windows tablets is to blame ...

I know what you're sayin'. Just goes to show how many have dumped Android in favour of Window 8.

Well, I can see that it looks like that.
Actually I'm trying to make a point. I have had WM devices for a number of years now. WM6 was the last proper advance and that was a while ago and really only made things stable. WM5 was a dog imo
I just find it very telling that so many WM users are trying to get Android to run yet I'd say (prove me wrong) no one who has a device that doesn't run WM is trying to run it.
What does that say ?

It says... other devices are limited to 1 OS, while WinMo has the ability to expand across several. Right now, I'm running WinMo 6.5, Android, and Blackberry software, in 1 phone.
What does that say ?
That says that HTC release some excellent hardware and that there are some dedicated hackers (white hat) out there willing to help out.
Why, what did you think ?

I'm wondering what people think the chances of WP7 being ported to the desire is?

I'm more than happy with Android but if someone manages to port WP7 to it I'd try it for sure... the same reason I run OpenDesire over HTC's own ROM.
wouldn't that be illegal?
as i know, you have to pay for windows mobile.....
Still wouldn't stop someone from trying it though.

ofcourse it would, all of the sites that have developers with anywhere near the skill to take on a project like that have a no warez rules, as none of us own a licence for windows mobile that makes it warez lol

End of.
Buy a HD2 and you can run both Windows and Android (well, most Android things work). I've used both and can't see myself ever going back to WM unless something sensational happens.

I am very surprised though that TomTom haven't produced a version for Android yet, though it would probably be too expensive to be competitive anyway.

Windows Phone 7 Theme

Does any know of a Windows Phone 7 theme for G2? It would look really sick on the G2. Have Slidescreen Pro on my G2 and its really nice. If any one has a link or something please post or comment below.
I don't see how it would even be possible. The interface for Windows Phone 7 works completely different than Android. A theme is not going to give you that experience, or even remotely look and feel the same. You would be better off just going out and buying a Windows phone if that is what you want.

[Req]Windows Phone 7

I dont know if this is the appropriate forum but i think it would be cool if we could get windows phone 7 running on our EVOs, the HD2 recently got it and its similar in hardware so i dont see why it wouldnt be possible
+1 That would be sweet!
Well first wrong forum. Second yeah, it would be cool but if you look at the rom for the hd2 there are a lot of tiles still not working. Also the hd2 is GSM and there are GSM wp7 phone out. Without a wp7 phone on cdma it is hard as getting the radios to work is difficult. At least hat was the impression I had.

It's still not a release though. As soon as some work is (if ever) started on it, this would be the correct section.
You're in the right forum, don't worry
Does anyone else thing that the WP7 look is incredibly ugly, or is it just me? haha
It would be quite wonderful to port WP7 to a phone like the EVO. But I believe it will be a daunting task as the HD2 has it easy(ish) they have windows mobile already installed on the device. If there is a similar device with the same hardware as the EVO running WP7 then it might be easier.
Drivers are the hardest to get working, the software could problably be made to work relatively easy. But without drivers to communicate with the cpu, storage, display, and etc there would not be much to see at all even if the software was able to run.
Plus and from my understanding that WP7 is pretty locked down at the moment and not all features would be accessible. Though that is a thought without any research into the subject.

I agree 100%. It was designed for tweenagers to be able to do all their social networking. Its kin 2.0 and they are even considering adding a new 'kin' studio. Personally, I don't recommend trying to port it over to an android device as Microsoft might not take too kindly to the licensing issue.

HTC HD7 is a pretty much an HD2 with WP7 if I'm not mistaken...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818607
The hd2 is pretty much a evo just GSM.
flame and troll and flame and troll and bash someone for bringing up a great idea now back to flame and troll and flame and troll.
To the OP love the idea hope to see it come to light, ill definitely try it if someone can do it.
devs should not waste time with other OS's. reason being is that too much work is needed just to get everything working, and thats the job of the manufacturer. i rather they spend it adding/improving features to the solid foundation we have already, android.
plus android is free, windows is not and nor htc or you paid for windows on the evo so even if they had a fully working port you'd somehow have to get a license from MS and since they only sell oem license to manufacturer dont know how you could even legally get one. just my 2 cents
This would be REALLY sweet, but i dont see it working out until a CDMA WP7 is released, porting from GSM is 1000x harder to get working real well E.X. - Desire HD/Acer liquid ports.
I was in the microsoft store at my mall, they said a sprint CMDA WP7 is due this year. I'd be willing to bet itll be ported within a week after its released.

Windows 8 Porting

So, friends, as you already know from the web sources, SONY is not going to publish Jelly Bean until Spring, so lets just experiment, as you also know Windows 8 can be easily ported to any ARM device, so as our Sony XPERIA S is ARM Arcitechture based, lets find a way on how to install Windows 8. Just agree that SONY's HD screen and Windows 8 Metro Style, and stuff will look amazing on our HD screens, and Xperia S also fits Windows 8 Square style. Guys lets make this topic live, I really wanna see Windows on Xperia : ((
sorry, what's your source about jb on spring?

It was already mentioned. Windows 8 is closed source. You simply can't port it. If you can, it would make a HUGE work, and I don't think anyone will try that.

Dual boot? I think it will be a LOT HARDER. We badly have space for two Android kernels, you want an Android kernel and a Windows kernel, and that both work AT THE SAME TIME?
I think i have seen dual boot win8 and ICS on tablet, but tablet is tablet .Listen,if we can't make a dual boot than ok fine, but lets make an actual win8 rom,I know it's hard but if we gather a team, maybe we can do something for a 2,3 moths? :/

Retarded microsoft.
Why closed source?
And why not selling windows 8 mobile like desktop version? (Just an idea )
I know drivers etc are the problem.. but.. why not?
Verstuurd van mijn Xperia S met Tapatalk
Is it me, or are some people confusing things?
1) Isn't the OP referring to "WINDOWS 8" as in Windows for PC?
2) From my understanding "Windows 8" is only for X86 architecture...........
3) Then there is Windows "Phone 8"....which some others are confusing things further with.
4) Then there is Windows "RT" for ARM-based processors..........that the Microsoft SURFACE runs............RT being something between "Phone 8, and Windows 8........but not really the same as either one. RT cannot run Windows desktop apps that Microsoft has not certified
IMO, if an RT port cannot be configured to run all of the wireless hardware and camera , GPS , BT , sound devices, on an Android phone..............while a nice and fast, stable Android version can run everything..........I personally don't see the use for porting any RT or Phone 8.
Nah you don't get it .Listen, all we want is to see windows 8 on our phone, because:
1)I like metro ui,my personall opinion, sometimes metro seems much more beatiful than any android ui...And no,launchers can't replace it
2)Why would I spend money on the phone I actually don't want, just because it has win8...Not a good reason to spend my money honestly
3)And aren't you a little bit curios what can you do with your phone?Just a little bit?I saw people are putting,Windows real pc Windows on their mobiles...Yesterday i saw Ubuntu has officially released their same OS for phones with multi-cores that is running on pc's.Android after all gives you freedom up to some point, and all I want is to find out where is that point To much to ask for?
Anything is possible, with time & effort. I had Windows 95 running on my X10 and had UBUNTU 12 on my LT28 Ion. Not very useful but still nice to know I can
Sent from my LT28
Exactly windows 95 is now free, ubuntu is free, and based on linux, just like Android, so its ok to run it on an Android Phone and no mather if you would like PC's Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8, it would be illegaly. But well, isnt it illegaly to modify phone, and trying to get it repaired by warranty, then lying you didnt modify it and it broke itself? anyway, it would be really good to have any of those Windows 8s on Xperia
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I think if we want to speak about illegal things than that's piracy. This is not, this is just freedom that Android gave us,and we can use it?Why would we stop, satisfied with this?Anyway, anyone interested in this project?
