when i connect the normal charger to the phone, the charging light appears and the phone does not charges! on USB to laptop its ok, the phone charges , but on normal charger it does not charge...
any ideas???
I'd say the problem's most probably with the charger. Try using a different one to see it the problem still persists.
but why does the charging light is on ? and the phone says it's charging... ?

Its definitely a problem with the charger. One loose connection and it all goes hay wire!!
The light stays on because some current IS going through to the phone....
Yes, sounds like the charger.
As a side note, I have an external power pack, and if I plug it into the phone (power pack switched off), the charging icon appears - just on the DHD, not on other phones/ipods. I have learnt to live with this as a minor anomaly of the power pack, but just goes to show that the charging logic is not particularly clear

dhussa said it. The charging light might still be functioning because of some little current going through.. although that might not be enough to charge the phone.
Just try a different charger to ensure that we are thinking in the right direction. If the different charger works it'll eliminate the possibility that there's something wrong with your phone. (Although I doubt it since it is charging via USB.)
yeah...well i still hope it's a software bug :-s since a saw a similar thread and a good battery calibration might just be the cause
oh well...thx guys ...
So I had this phone for a while now its starting to act up.
I pretty much killed the phone to 0-1% then plugged it in to charge and left it for 8 hours (sleeping), I wake up and find it only charged 3%, wow seriously? I fiddle around with it and it goes back to 0%?
Problem? Anyone had similar issue?
P.S I did search first, couldn't find any...

It's probably a dead battery or hardware issue. I'd go to your seller and ask him what to do. Most likely you'll get a new device!
TIP: Try to charge it through your USB-port in your laptop/pc, perhaps the power supply is damaged?
I've had this problem. It's not really a problem, and it's easy to solve.
Find a different charger, like an iphone charger (worked for me) but other chargers than the HTC One will work :-D
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Its completely turned off now, im charging it but the red light just keeps flashing on an off, gonna leave it in for 1-2 hours and see how it is.
Okay, I left it for around 1 hour but the red light has stop flashing, problem?
Anyone? I tried another charger like the iPhone but same result... HELP!
Have you tried holding the power button down for 10 seconds, it equivalent to a battery pull, and then see if it will charge.
John.
are u using custom recovery?
Now, the CWM Recovery has a bug that the phone cannot be charged when power off
I've faced your situation, I got into bootloader, flash back the official recovery first through bootloader, try your phone can be charged when power off

I can't turn the thing on but I connected the usb via to the computer and the notification is blinking red, I assume its charging, the thing is yesterday I unlocked the bootloader (was at 95%), rooted it etc then started playing with it until it reached 1% and left it to charge overnight but it only went to 3% :/
Hopefully it charges fully after 8 hour of leaving it plugged in to computer while I go to work.
I would not leave you phone charging unattended, as lin-ion battery sometimes vent flames, when they are faulty and you don't want your house burning down.
John.

That tip about plugging it into my laptop absolutely worked! I was panicking for a bit because my phone was stuck at the 0% boot screen and I thought it was bricked. But I followed this tip and it instantly started charging. Thank so much
So, I woke up this morning and I went to go check some messages on my phone, but when I checked, the phone wouldn't turn on. I charged it like I usually did and when I got to it, the blue led light was flashing. Not brightly, but just like it would try to turn on, but it can't so the light slowly fades away. I tried to hold the power + volume buttons (both up and down) but it still wouldn't do anything. Any help before I take it into sprint?

can you charge the battery? is the battery loose? I would take it to sprint and let them check it out.
Yeah. I think I might just take it back to sprint. But it won't charge at all I think.
Pull the battery and leave it out for a few minutes then try again.

I've done that and I actually start seeing the empty battery logo. But It's only for a second. I think there's a problem with the battery or the charger thing

Just kidding. It's charging. Anyone know if I should be worried about anything?

Get a brand new quality USB cable. A HUGE amount of issues can be resolved by just doint this, believe me.
I was using the charger cable it came with but connected to my computer
well your computer USB port can only push 500mA out max. sounds like its undercharging your phone. the stock charger pushes 1000mA or 1A.
Hi, I have a One X which discharged to nothing on Saturday night/Sunday morning as I was in hospital and my wife was using it to call people.
I had a similar problem in June, once dead it won't take any charge, it won't power up normally and it won't boot up either with the volume down being pressed at the same time.
Nothing lights or flashes.
In June I sent it to O2 and it came back fixed, but I've had a conversation today to say the warranty is voided as I've rooted it.
They are saying that it needs a new main board as it is rooted. I kept explaining that I don't need a new board, just some charge to be put into the battery.
I do think that I've tried everything this time, and last, to get the phone started again without sending it away, but I'd appreciate advice on getting it up and running and how best to deal with O2, what arguments to use etc.
Many thanks

Try plugging it in to the charger and pressing the power button quickly 3 times. Keep trying that until it powers on and then charge as usual.

Just Plug it in With Official HTC Cable In A New PC which has USB 2 or greater port. Eventually after sometime you will c blinking red light. Once you get blinking red light pull out and plug it back in again after some time red led will become stable. at this point turn on the phone.
Once the OS loads again repeat Plug out Plug In USB Cable. It should now charge. If it stops charging repeat Plug out Plug again. Hope this helps.
I am doing this now and i have reached 12%. Hope this helps you

I left it charging all night but pressing the button quickly did not work.
I'm now trying leaving it plugged into my PC.
Any idea how long before this might show a red light?
Also, is this any different to leaving it plugged into a power lead?
Cheers

Actually it should show the blinking red light after 20 appx minutes after charging. Then after few minutes it should get stable, and then you can powerup the device.

Hmmmm, back from lunch, it's been plugged in since 9.00 this morning, 4 hours, and nothing.
Repair needed?
Ok, having taken it to a repairer I was told there was nothing wrong with the battery, charging unit etc, it was a complicated matter that they couldn't sort out.
Does anybody know of a reputable repairer who may be able to take a look please?
Many thanks.
Hi guys
Just cannot seem to get the thing to charge.
Tried different charger/usb cable. Got completely new USB power board. Sometimes the battery icon comes up on the screen when i turn it on of just a battery with a bit of low red at the bottom of it. It won't turn on. Theres not even a charging beacon light on top of the phone to indicate charge.
What does this usually show? Bricked phone, bad motherboard or bad battery?
Cheers.

Is the error that comes to screen
"USB not supported"?
not getting any error mate. It is totally dead.
I did buy a new battery which had 4% life left. Not enough to copy 64GB data to an SD card.
It seems it must be the main board which is damaged. I have replaced the power board and the middle ribbon cable. This has to be a mobo issue unless u can think of anything else?

I still don't think that's mobo issue. Try this before you intend to replace your mobo.
Plug in charging using any charger other than wall charger. Use a power bank or anything and when the battery icon shows up that you described in first post(the red icon) leave it there as it is and let it charge over night. Try powering up in the morning.

I dont get any icon on the screen when I plug a charger in. Even the powerbank... When i plug that in I get no beacon light on the top of the phone to indicate charge and also no icon on the phone screen. The phone never gets hot when it charges and the charging device never gets hot. Stone cold both of them.
What do you reckon?

I think your phone needs a doctor ?. Take him to the hospital (service center). Last resort before going to service center is take the battery out and charge it using one of those battery charger.

The annoyance is though its not the normal kind of battery you come across...
Take a look here: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ScMAAOSwVm5Y-v50/s-l300.jpg
It has a strange connector on it. one of which I have never seen before.
How do i find service centres located in Australia?
