[Q] [REQ]LG G3 Calculator missing - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! as the title says... I'm running on the following:
*D855
*16GB
*V10l-ESA-XX
*Rooted but using stock ROM
I noticed that it doesn't have Calculator app and i don't want to use other calcs on play store. Well there is a software update and it's like 78mb more or less and i don't want to update as it might unroot my phone though the update says: "APPS"
Well better safe than sorry...
Oh, if someone has an apk or flash file of the calc app that would be nice.
Thanks in advance

bump...

Open the app Update Center. LG apps are there.

yep tried that first thing when i rolled back to KK. I even did factory reset and calculator app is nowhere to be found.. i'm not into downloading calculator apps from Playstore as there are many apps which is annoying.

Bumping..

LG APPS update will not unroot your phone.

Yep tried software update also. Still on KK and still no calculator app..

Open your app drawer and click on "update center" it should have the original calculator app located there to redownload.

Here, my friend.

This is a certainly common error when you're coming back to KK.
You should take note at the first boot, in the screen of "unninstaled apps" . When coming from Lollipop, the Calculator comes marked to not be installed.
The problem is that this is the only one (I believe) that isn't in the Update Center to download.
I had this problem and extracted the apk from the "preload apps" folder from a KDZ.
Hope I helped.

It's worked. Copy LGCalculator.apk to /system/pri-app, the Calculator comes back!

[Q] OTA file location

Forgot to disable OTA updates and my phone downloaded it and now I have this notification that doesn't go away. Looked around using ES file browser but I can't find the location out the OTA file so I can delete it.
Anyone know the location of the OTA?

I'm one of the dummies that half-asleep clicked on the OTA update and am now softbricked. In looking around the potential solution threads I saw that long pressing the notification should dismiss it. Just a warning, I haven't tried fixing my phone as of yet, so I'm not sure if this advice is right.

That sucks. Look for "I softbricked my T-Mobile G3" under the questions thread. I think there's 2 fixes in there if you haven't checked yet. Idk if they'll work for you but worth a try if haven't seen them yet.
I read an adb fix somewhere that supposedly came from the G2 forums that supposedly worked too.
Good luck!
I'm just going to wait to find the location to delete, don't want to try and ling click and some kind of earthquake or something happen and end up just single clicking it. Lol

Yeah I saw the adb fix for the G2 and was hoping to have someone confirm that it is fine for the G3 too. I don't see why it wouldn't be, but I don't want to dig myself into a deeper hole.
Hope you find your answer!

You can freeze Update Center from Titanium Backup and that notification will go away. Forever.

There are 3 tgings for you to freeze
Software Update
Update Center
App Updates
I had the same problem thats a solid fix and should be working on every occasion like that.
Long press on the notification to enter app info and from there turn off notifications
I just use "notification off" app > uncheck googleplayservices > to hide the annoying notification.
Hello, I have this weird thing after trying to update to V30c... I received OTA (~230mb), downloaded and pressed to install but nothing happens, it just reboots the phone without performing the upgrade. So what I did connected it to PC and updated via LG mobile tool don't know why but the size was (1.3GB) unfortunately after upgrading I still receive the notification which I don't need as I already upgraded via PC... Anyone knows how to solve this?
If you're rooted, you can use the 'disableService' app from playstore. Then System / Google Play Services / SystemUpdateService, uncheck it. Problem solved.

Only it doesn't solve the problem. Just froze it with TB, but the notice persists. D851 stock MM V30D rooted. Also have SystemUpdateService disabled via app disableService from playstore, which got rid of the OTA notices for OS versions, but won't disable this compatibility patch notification.
EDIT: Notification gone now, probably had to reboot for it to evaporate.
EDIT2: Came back a day or so later, so that method was a no-go for me. Didn't want to try the long press to see if it could be dismissed via option presented in response to that action

Stop LG/Tmobile system update?

I am running skydragon rom and unfortunately my phone downloaded an LG system update. I did not install it, but i do want to delete it and remove the reminder... Plus it's stopping me from installing some of the LG apps that have been removed...
How can this be accomplished. Thanks.
Wow.. Anybody.
I'm not sure on the location of the update, but for me, I just pulled down the notification panel, long pressed the Update notification, clicked on App Info, then unchecked notifications, clicked ok to confirm, then checked it back on.
That removed the persistent notification for the T-Mobile system update, hasn't shown up since in about 3 days time.
I tried that... It worked for a few hours then it came back.
You can always leave it unchecked, but I'm not sure what other apps use Play Services for their updates or other.
That's my worry. I think a lot of other apps use play services.

Apparently many people have said that you can disable the updates by getting into the hidden menu by typing this in the dialer: 3845#*851#
Click on WLAN Test
Go to OTA
Disable
Unfortunately this didn't work for me. I hope it works for you. I accidentally downloaded the LG update as well, but for some reason the update notification is still there. super annoying!

If your rooted, you can use a root explorer and delete the update.zip file in the /cache folder. That will take care of any auto update when you reboot your phone.
Since I'm running stock, I also froze the following apps with Titanium Backup:
App Updates 4.20.100
ConfigUpdater 4.4.2-940549
LGSetupWizard 4.3.020
Update Center 4.20.100
I get a notice once in a while when I go to wifi, but I noticed that the update is no longer downloaded to the /cache folder after freezing the apps above.

Are LG G4 stock apps available for DL?

I went a little too far with removing some of the default LG apps after rooting and I'm getting odd issues now. I'd like to reinstall apps vs. reimage the stock setup if possible.
Does anyone know where I can grab all the stock apps for the G4?
If you install LG Smartworld, you can download all the LG apps again.
it's also accessible here: http://www.lgappstv.com/
Thanks for the suggestion but it looks like the applications I need aren't in this store. So far it looks like I need to reinstall LG Lifetracker, LG Backup and LG Air drive.

There is somewhere you can download them. I thought it was that app. it must be another LG app somewhere, because I had to use it to download and install the FM Radio app.
Found it!
Settings - About Phone - Update Centre - Software Update.
Your missing apps are in there for download
It claims all apps are installed. I wonder if I didn't fully delete the apps with Tibu so it thinks I still have them.

Why don't you just reapply the rooted system.IMG you used while rooting. That will give you all your apps back
I tried that and it didn't for whatever reason.

I almost wonder if perhaps you had frozen the apps at some point prior to uninstalling them cause if you did, when you reinstall stuff tibu would pick up that you want them frozen and they would be gone again. Flashing the system installs all the crap that's included in stock so this is the only logical reason I can think of that would be causing your issue

AccuWeather Widget Issue

Hello, right now I have an issue with my Galaxy Note 3's stock AccuWeather widget being unable to find my current location. I am running on the 5.0 FOB6 firmware with root and the widget was running fine until this morning when it would not update. My location settings are set to high accuracy, and my GPS still works without issue and currently the widget is blank showing the time and the "Tap to add city" phrase. A factory reset did not fix things with the widget nor did clearing the cache and dalvik in TeamWin Recovery fix it. The only way the widget works is if I typed my current city into the search box after the "Location error" box goes away.

Have you recently installed any type of app that requires location services? Also battery saving apps and antivirus apps can cause this problem. They can kill the widgets request for location updates. If you haven't installed anything new like this, then there's one quick thing you can try. Go into your Apps manager and go to the All tab. Find the WeatherDaemon and force stop it and clear the data. Then find the LocationServices and force stop it and clear the data as well. You'll have to reset your location preferences but it may fix the issue.
As far as I remember the only app that I installed that really used location settings heavily was snapchat. Maybe the latest update caused an issue. The only Antivirus app I have is Lookout. Now I'm assuming by the "WeatherDaemon" you mean the Unified daemon. I have cleared the data from it but I don't know which app would be LocationServices.
Yes the Unified daemon is the same thing. They are named different depending on some ROM's. Mine is WeatherDaemon and I have a LocationServices also. Just look for anything under the All tab that says Location and kill it and clear data. It won't hurt anything. You may possibly have to reboot to rebuild the cache, but that about it.

I recently just did as you said by clearing everything that included location in all of my apps and rebooted the phone. The stock accuweather widget still shows up with the cannot find location error. At this point I am either contemplating downloading the firmware via sammobile and doing a fresh install with odin or extracting the weather widget from the stock rom and deleting the widget from my current state.

Yeah an Odin flash would definitely do the trick if it truly is just software. Have you tried downloading the AccuWeather widget from the Play Store to see if it has location issues? Or any other weather widget for that matter. Try that can see if it works correctly.

Hey me either, I'm determined to fix this issue as ever since I bought the phone I haven't had any issues software related from that point all the way up until yesterday morning. Haha. Well I'm going to do the full wipe in recovery, Odin Flash and reroot on the latest firmware which should be N900TUVUFOL1. Afterwards I'll update and see if things have been fixed.

That should do the job. I know every once in a while even those don't install the modem driver correctly. Only way to know is install and try. Haha
I too am having the exact same issue you described down to the T . I did all of thee above as well and nothing has been working to fix the problem. The only thing I didn't do was the factory reset, but that was going to be my next step if I couldn't find a solution. I also have the Note 3, the only difference is I am on Sprint. I found this thread through a Google search. I am beginning to think that maybe it's a connection issue between the stock software and Accuweather server maybe? I started having this problem yesterday. I also installed the Accuweather App from the Play Store and that one works fine.

I will really dig into the issue and see if I can find a fix for you guys. It's not just the Note 3 that's having this problem. I've seen people with the Note 4, S4, and S5 talking about it as well.
How weird is this! I just tried refreshing the location again a few minutes ago, and it started working again on its own! So NoteSeriesEnthusiast27 might wanna try again and see if it works for him too?

Having the same error on my N910C. Reflashing firmware didn't help.

I messed up removing the stock Gallery app..

Hi all,
Got my 20X running EMUI 9.1 (all stock) and started disabling some useless apps (to me) like Google Music & Google Photos..
But these constantly re-enabled themselves appearing back on home screen.. So I decided to go ADB
Removed mostly Google apps I wasn't using but then I deleted some Huawei ones like HiCare..
...because I was doing such a good job :silly: I decided to get rid of the stock Gallery app - that is com.android.gallery3d and another one like com.android.gallery3d.overlay IIRC
Set my own gallery app as Default however the Huawei Camera app will not let me access recent shots as it's asking for the stock Gallery app...
Any way I can get around this please?
My goto is try apkmirror
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/huawe...ease/gallery-9-0-15-355-android-apk-download/
May or may not like it.
You can also check default apps under apps in setting to reset as default if necessary

Factory Reset is your fastest way of getting it working again as far as I know. Once you start deleting factory files/apps, I'm not sure what interacts with other files/apps to know exactly what needs to be reinstalled/added manually. With Factory Reset there's no question since it puts everything back how it was from factory. I was lucky enough to unlock my bootloader prior to Huawei blocking that and as a rule I freeze apps via Titanium Backup and wait at least a few weeks to see if anything else is effected before deleting.

You can try an older version and then see if it can be upgraded. The AppMarket if on AL00 is an alternative.
Huawei Backup & Restore is actually pretty good at settings and data, if you can save off the device itself before a reset.
So I managed to sort this out without having to Factory Reset, I just re-installed the app via adb
cmd package install-existing <name of package>
[Also returned the phone in the meantime]
