Did anyone update to the new 2.3.3 firmware for UK or the USA yet?
Can you create and upload the ftf files please?
A few days ago I updated my firmware to v2.3.3 but now it is full with Chinese apps again and no Google apps installed at all. I don't know what other way there would be to remove the Asian apps and install all the Google goodies.

Global

BTW,I don't test the ftf.
I'm waiting for rooted rom.
Thank you so much Froce !!!!!!
It worked like a charm!
I've updated my phone with the "Global" firmware.
-----
For anyone who wonders how to update the phone with this firmware:
Before you start be aware that all your information stored on your phone (except for SDCARD) wil be wiped. The apps that you have installed will be gone, your message history will be erased, your contacts (unless synched with Google account) will be gone too.
And... like froce wrote... the ROM is not rooted.
As far as I know there'e no rooted 2.3.3 (3.0.1.A.0.145) out yet. For those that need a rooted F/W. Please go to Bin4ry's post [How-to] Root your Arc (Xperia NEO file included) for a 2.3.2 (3.0.A.2.181) F/W. Also that F/W worked like a charm on my Neo.
Software preparation
Download and install Sony's Update Service. I needed this to install drivers that later on are necessary.
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...updateservice/1.349192/xperia-neo?cc=gb&lc=en
Download and extract X10flashtool. This is the program that you need to install the .ftf firmware images. To be able to install the ftf firmware images it needs to connect to the phone through the drivers that you just installed with Sony's Update Service program
Find the download link for Flashtool in: (I used v0.2.9.1 Beta)
[TOOL] [UPDATE 22/03/2011] Flashtool BETA version 0.2.9.1
Copy the firmware image into flashtool's "firmwares" folder. This folder should have been created when you extracted the flashtool archive
Phone preparation
Enable "USB debugging"
Switch off your phone
Connect the USB cable to either your phone or to your computer but not to both yet.
Flashing
Start Flashtool (administrator rights necessary)
press "Flash" button. You should get a new window that shows the device type and firmware content
press "OK" button. A new windows should appear that is asking you to connect your phone. Don't connect yet.
hold down the "back" button on your phone and keep it holding down while connecting your phone to your computer
the window should disappear and flashing should start.
release the "back" key that you were still holding down and sit back, relax and wait.
after flashing is complete, the text message window should say "now unplug the device and power it on". That's it.
Firmware details:
Global firmware came installed with:
Sony apps: Timescape, Music, Gallery, Calendar, Support, Synch, TrackID, Postcard, Media Server, PlayNow Store, FM Radio, Clock, LiveWare manager
Google apps: Market, Facebook, Maps, Gmail, Talk, Navigation, Places, Lattitude, YouTube, News&Weather, Google Search, Voice Search
Other apps: Lets Golf, Media Discovery, NeoReader, UEFA.com, OfficeSuite, Hanashi
For the Global Firmware, where do you go on the page to download the file? I've put it through Google translate, and when I go to the box beside file size, I'm prompted to download and run 115br_u1.exe. Is it safe and/or the proper download method? Thanks in advance!
Sorry,I forgot that is a Chinese web space.
I upload it to mutliupload.

Can the UK FW be installed in a Rogers LT15A Arc? And is this FW a generic one, no brand?
Thanks
This is a neo thread, not arc.
I think that froce's Global firmware is unbranded as inside build.prop:
ro.semc.version.fs=WORLD-1-8
If you can install Neo firmware on an Arc? I don't know. Why would you want to do that if there's more Arc firmware copies available than there are Neo copies.
So no one is able to make a rooted and updated IMG for the Neo, even with the FTF file? It's fustrating. I flashed the 2.3.3 rooted ARC firmware and it works, but I have to turn "auto rotate" screen off, so stop the screen going mental. Apart from that phone is much faster and responsive.
Weird. No problems here with the screen. Works as normal on my phone.
Yeah, wish the firmware was rooted too. I wish I could 'patch' the firmware myself to get root. If anyone would explain how to do that then I'd do it .
Ask for tester.
Please tell me the result.
neo global rooted img.

This rooted img is ok.
Thanks
Can I use this rooted image for unrooted 2.3.3 HK version?
Worked fine here on my Neo! I flashed from the ARC firmware. Thanks so much!
Yes It works!
ERM, i update to 2.3.3 from SONY update service, if i apply the root version, is it mean i need to unlock the bootloader?
Installed and rooted on my Neo (HK 2.3.3) without data loss.
Yes, unlocked BL is required with cleaning of every data.
Hi, can anyone explain to me why there are some SE apps which keep on coming back even after uninstalling? I'm talking about the infamous Hanashi, Neoreader, and UEFA.com apps...
In the firmware that came with my device (Netherlands) they were not there, but the global has them. I tried removing them but even after uninstalling with TitaniumBackup they come back at some point. Also Hanashi seems to eat up some memory all the time!
Tnx!

Maybe because the old f/w wasn't deleted. Yesterday I flashed the rooted ROM and I came to find out that all apps and settings were left untouched. The ROM that I had on my Neo before flashing the rooted version was the same version (2.3.3) but unrooted.
If you don't mind then you could try flashing the old ROM first (2.3.2). The link is in one of the replies in the top of this post. Maybe that will delete the old apps (and all your settings and contacts too). After that flash the 2.3.3 version.
I'm unsure if it will help but maybe it is worth a try

Hi Guys,
I am having some issues trying to root my Samsung Galaxy S3. I am currently running the stock Kitkat version of AT&T on my S3(SGH-I747) and trying to root it to be able to install CWM and a custom rom.
I have tried chainfire and towelroot methods.
I used the following tutorial of using ODIN and chainfire image for samsung SGH-I747:youtube.com/watch?v=LwsvPO8jVGE
I was able to get all steps to work and get everything same as the video above except when I install "Root Checker" from android play store it gave me message that "Root method is not properly configured" even after odin showed "Success" after rebooting and applying the patch
I then used the towelroot method by going to the towelroot.eu website on my phone and installing the apk. the towelroot app gave me the message that "I have root and do not need to reboot my device" but Root checker still says that my root is not configured.
I then reset my phone by pressing volume up+power and home button and clearing "Cache" and wiping data" and trying the above methods again but still unable to get the phone to root.
I am completely stumped as to what I am doing wrong. And would really appreciate some help from the pros.I have attached a snapshot of my device info and thanks for the great work and guidance.
Matt
PS. I already made sure that my phone is in the "Developer Mode" and "USB debugging" is enabled
tried another method
Also tried using the casual method but that also failed with the error "Unsupported device" here is the url for the log file:http://pastebin.com/vZRvYH3g
I followed the follwowing thread:

After rooting with Towelroot you have to install SuperSU from the store. Then open and let it update its binary.
You dont need root to get cwm.

Hi Doc, I was able to follow one of your other treads at "http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/help/att-bricked-s3-help-please-t2817566/page2" and install TWRP. I think my issue was that the firmware had got upgraded to the NE4 and I was not flashing the correct bootloaders.
I do have one more question and I am not sure if it is a ROM related issue or a phone setting. I will understand if you think I should ask in the ROM thread. I flashed CM11 on the phone after installing TWRP and rooting with superSu. I noticed that the led buttons on the bottom of the phone are disabled(the back and the setting buttons) do you know if this is a changeable setting(pic attached)? I would hate to loose the screen-space at the bottom to the buttons and even though that's standard Kitkat layout I wont mind being able to use the phone led buttons to go back and change settings.
I installled the follwoing version of cm11: cm-11-20140805-SNAPSHOT-M9-d2lte.zip from (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte)
Thanks for your help and guidance.
Matt
Im not sure about that one. I don't use CM so im not very familiar with all of its different settings. Someone else may have the answer for you though. If not, then ask in the rom thread like you mentioned.
So I rooted my Samsung Galaxy tab 3 8.0 (TM310) and started deleting bloatware. I restarted the device after deleting a couple of bloatware and think I deleted a necessary Google app. I kept getting a popup saying "android device manager has stopped working" so I think I deleted that. Being stupid I never actually created a backup (learnt my lesson) and thought if I factory reset the device, I'll have the original apps back; this did not work and created a problem. Now when I try to setup the the tablet, the google part comes up after setting up WiFi and it asks you for your first and last name to personalise the tablet. Considering I deleted an app, it just says android device manager has stopped working and just restarts the part where I have to enter my name. Essentially I can't setup or use this tablet without the app so is there a way to actually get it back? I'm willing to try anything as there is no loss. Tablet is useless otherwise. Thanks for your time!

Thanks. I tried before and 2 more times after you responded with one method but seems as if it was not working so tried an alternative method and that worked.
You could have tried flashing gapps
Before i root my sm t116nu tab 3v with the 360 root
Before i root my sm t116nu using 360 root and had a problem i think over use the apps, then after that my device cannot power on always see samsung logo , and i go too repair shop then says that we should reprogramm your phone but i didn't say my device is rooted, after reprogramming my phone back , when i reboot my phone using volume up + power button + menu button its an error connot reboot i think,, then 360r00t not running my phone is not rooted, sorry of my english sentence but i understand english, please help god bless xda
Go to ( http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T310 ) and download a rom for your region , you can flash them with odin . And this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789510 ) might help you too . P.S idk how to hyperlink .
i got my bootloader unlocked, flashed twrp and rooted my phone on the newest update. installed xposed and gravitybox and everything was just fine after around 1 month it turned off and didnt turn on again, it gets black screen after the htc logo, flashed an stock system.img and everything was fine again.
this happened 2 months ago, right now i got the same problem again with xposed installed and gravitybox, my questions is:
could xposed trigger this? or could it also be my sd that is formated as internal storage.
thanks for your help
update!
i may have found the problem. im using gravitybox to use pie and disabled the on screen home button with qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 in my build prop (added as a new line)
it may be the problem. still testing it
I have had no issues with Xposed until I try to tweak or mod framework or System UI files.
My best advice is backup before tweaking.
