[Q] Can't Detect Rogers Network - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey, so I've been flashing a few roms, and all is going as it should, but for none of them, can I find the Rogers Network. I've tried Cyanide L, Slimkat 5.0.2 and Liquid Smooth KitKat.. But for all of them, I can't detect the network. I've even tried going back to a stock, rooted, debloated rom, and still no signal. So my quesion is, is there a kernal I should flash to get the network back? Not sure what to do, but miss my cell reception .-. Please help

After flashing any ROM, does your phone show the correct imei by using the dialler to dial #*06#?

Oh gee.. I don't even know what the correct IMEI would be. Would that number be on my SIM? Also, it doesn't detect the sim either. The sim works in other phones, but not this one.. So it's not damage to the chip .-.

the IMEI should be under the battery in the S3. do you know your bootloader and modem version.?

modem_CWM_I747MVLUEMK5.. It was the latest I could get, flashing it does nothing.. And I'm not sure about boot loader, how would I find out? I have TWRP 2.8.4.0 though if that's important

Okay, so I found my IMEI, and tried the dialing thing. I just said "IMEI" and there were no numbers beside the pop up. Saying it's blank?

if you have terminal emulator app on your phone , type in su (to grant it SU privileges) then hit 'enter' , then type getprop ro.bootloader and hit enter. it will show bootloader version. OR download "samsung info" app from playstore and it will tell you. my best guess ; and i'd like for @audit13 to chyme in when he has time , is that youre running older firmware with newer ROMs. so maybe updating bootloader/modem would fix network issue. AND sometimes just flashing a newer kernel (ktoonsez's for example) will fix network issues. one more thing is that once you upgrade bootloader/modem you cannot downgrade or youll get a bricked device.
why you wouldnt have service after going back to stock , i have not a clue.
but like i said , audit may have a better solution.

Alright, so I ran the terminal emulator, and it came up with this "I747MVLUFNF2"
I don't know what that number means, so hopefully that's what you're asking for :s When I bought it, it was used, from a guy who never did any flashing, rooting before. So it was stock, and reset, with no prior tampering. It was on 4.2.2 Jellybean, and I upgraded to 4.4.2 within Kies, and was using it like that for a few months, also had it rooted. Since than, I decided to flash a rom, and yea.. That's been happening. Also I checked the ESF folder, and it's got stuff inside of it. But in the IMEI folder, it has only one file. I don't know what's supposed to be in there.. But anyways, is that bootloader number okay, and do you think I should flash that kernel you mentioned?

bootloader and modem #s should match. i'm pretty sure that MK5 is the older of the two. so modem would need to be upgraded to match bootloader (NF2). or i might have that backwards. let me double check though , cause i dont want to cause more problems.

ok , what i get from this thread

is that MK5 is android 4.3 and NF2 is 4.4.2. so , modem would need to be updated to NF2 (4.4.2). still searching.

Well I ended up flashing this stock firsmware with Odin Mobile (Chargin port is busted). It had all the appropriate Kernal, Modem, Firmware and whatnot right into the rom.. And after I flashed, still no servive, or SIM recognition :s I'm at a loss now.. Thanks for the help though, really do appreciate it

well crap. sorry i'm out of ideas. audit is much more knowledgeable about phones than me and checks on this Q&A thread fairly regular. or if anyone can chyme in with some ideas. sorry that didnt fix it. will carry on with search.

Mobile Odin will not flash a modem or bootloader. You need to flash the most recent modem in order to have things work again.

If your bootloader and modem are still mismatched, the newer models can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/modem-4-4-2-modems-i747-i747m-t2856577

[Q] Completely stuck on sgh-t999v (wind) root job...ughhh

Hey all,
So I've checked as much as I could to try and help myself before posting, so hoping some kinds souls can help out with my issue.
Got a samsung galaxy s3 SGH-T999V on Wind Mobile (Canada), android 4.3. My aim is to root the phone, then play with some roms later on, but at least get the rooting part done. I started with this hxxp://theunlockr.com/2012/07/23/how-to-root-and-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s3-sgh-t999v-canadian-version guide, but the CMW didn't get installed when I went into recovery mode, just had the stock phone recovery options.
So then, went on to try pretty much the exact same procedure but with the root66_GLW_T999VVLALH2.7z..but Odin gave me the failed sbl2 error or something like that. Now i didn't have anything to backup so I didn't really care wiping the phone to factory default so I did so ( as well as the cache partition using the default android recovery menu.) But even still, no luck. When I tried again, it (Odin that is) just seemed to hang at the phase that stated "get PIT" or something like that (apologies I'm pulling this all from memory).. Had no real choice but to interrupt it restart, try again, back to the sbl2 error again. Doing this from a Win7x64 Ultimate OS (if that's relevant). I HATE the phone the way it is, I cannot stand the bloatware and I have a lot in mind to have fun with if I can ever get this bloody thing to root.
I think that's about all I can mention atm, did the usual stuff like try different usb ports, the phones USB cable 'seems' to be ok and working, I'm just beyond frustrated and finally at the part where I need to ask for help. Any and all help is deeply appreciated. Cheers
i also want help rooting my T999v version 4.1.2 cant seem to find a tutorial for rooting of version 4.1.2

If you're on 4.3 stock you'll have to deal with this new thing they added called "Knox". Also you cannot downgrade to older versions of official firmware if you have updated to 4.3 stock. Root66 won't work for you unless there's a version of root66 firmware that is 4.3 (which there isn't). Here's a thread that should solve this problem for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563955

Well then that's the Device you have. Anything said in Settings > Model is suspect. If I modify ro.device in Build.prop then My Galaxy S3 will appear instantly as S4 or Nexus 5. That does not mean it is one.
You always go by what's under the Battery and not by Settings > Model.

[Q] Hard Bricked Galaxy S3 Any hope?

Specs: I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 phone from AT&T
*Model: SGH-I747
*Purple/Blue Version
*AT&T Version
What I have done:
*I rooted my phone today then tried to install Android Revolution HD ROM due to the terrible battery life of my phone ( would die after a few hours when the phone was locked and inactive!)
*Phone won't turn on.
*There is no logo boot
*Can't go into recovery mode
*LED only comes on when battery is out. Still won't turn on.
I saw this video for the SGH-I747M that could recover Hard Bricked is there one for my version?
I cannot post a link apparently so I will have to say later in the post
Your phone is bricked because the ROM you flashed is for the i9300, not the i747 or i747m.

Probably not. How do I check that?
Download and install the Samsung info app from the play store. Run the app and post the bootloader and modem version.
Modem Board: MSM8960
BOOTLOADER VERSION: 1747UCUFNE4
Look under baseband in about phone. The baseband should also be ne4.
Yeah both the baseband and the bootloader are the same numbers.
at some point in builds or on certain ROMs i guess , people have had to use ktoonsez' kernel to get wifi working. i have no idea why. will try to find link in case you want to try. BRB.

JELLYBEAN 4.1 VERSIONS:
AOSP JELLYBEAN: Download CWM flashable zip kernel
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?1hnavz4mbr660vh
yup , kernels are flashed just like ROMs. looks right.
"all i can really do , is stay out of my own way and let the will of heaven be done"
So when Flashing a Kernel do I have to wipe my phone completely first then re-install my rom?
nope. just flash on top. although some people do wipe cache and dalvik after , but i dont think even that is necessary.

Do you have access to wifi? If you do, install the Samsung Info App from the Play store and let me know the bootloader and modem version on your phone. The modem may be unknown because the modem does not match the bootloader.
I recommend not flashing or changing anything until you know exactly what's on your phone.

Since you don't have wifi, it may be because the ROM is 4.3 with a 4.4.2 bootloader and modem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54029413&postcount=11
So should I be using 4.4.2 Ota zip update?
Have a look at the thread. The first post says it will update the bootloader and modem to ne4. Are you already on ne4 modem and bootloader? You should be since imei is back with the ne4 bootloader.
I guess I didn't understand yes I'm on ne4 modem and bootloader
Your wifi doesn't turn on or it turns on and cannot connect to a network?
Not sure what to suggest since I have not run into this situation before. You could either flash a custom kernel or flash everything to 4.4.2 using the zip file from that thread.
You could also try to locate an updated csc file as well. Not sure if that will make a difference.

yes its weird everything seems to work but wifi, wifi just wont turn on slide it over to on it just slides back lol darn bugger
I not sure that a CSC file will help since that file is really just for carrier customization.
You suppose you could try flashing the full ne4 firmware from the thread I linked.

Return to stock from custom FNE4 lollipop ROM

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for reading. I'm currently on a lollipop Cyanide ROM with the FNE4 bootloader and need to return the device to stock firmware & OS. I've been looking through threads but I cannot find anything that seems to help me (or I might just be bad at searching). I've soft bricked this thing a couple of times and don't really wish to repeat that same process over again.
I'm pretty sure I'd have to ODIN to stock FNE4 firmware, but I cannot seem to find that. If you have any ideas, please let me know - I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Hah, not to great so far. I flashed the stock NE4 zip and now can't boot, getting stuck at the AT&T globe screen. It looks like I don't have a recovery - at all, not even the stock one at the moment either. I can still access download mode, though. I'm not positive of what would be best to flash though. Any recommendations?
Thanks so much again!

Looks like you need to flash the phone using a custom recovery.
After flashing the ROM, did you immediately boot to recovery in order to wipe cache, Dalvik, and data?

Upgrading to CM12 and bootloader

If I flash cm12 onto my phone currently running TouchWiz 4.4.2, will it update the bootloader and such, preventing me from going back to TW if I need to do so?

ROMs rarely if ever contain bootloaders or modems. and if they do , it should be in the OP. i would suggest ALWAYS reading the OP as they usually contain useful information. on some ROMs it will have you upgrade bootloader/modem to be able to function properly.
also you might want to read thru some of the last posts to see if people are having any issues and/or any fixes needed.
i would think you should be fine to be able to go back to TW if you want. as i'm sure youre aware its always wise to make a backup of your current ROM.
just curious , which bootloader and modem are you on ?
