Noob question... - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I have a galaxy s3 clearly.
Trying tofind out where the 4gb that are taken up in my phone and how to free up some space.... i dont have any music or anything installed... wondering if it was previous back ups that are hiding and cannot find where they may be located. i deleted CWMR and rom manager hoping they would go with it. Also installed TWRP instead but have not made any more backups.... any ideas? Currently running bliss stalk rom and gapps.

Many s3 in Canada shipped with 16 GB of internal memory. Once formatted, the amount of usuable space actually goes down. Once you install an ROM and apps, this space foes down even more. You will never have 16 GB of internal memory on a 16 GB s3.

i realize that, but it didnt take up 4gb before which isnt a huge deal but i just wanna know where that space is kept. i deleted all my CWM stuff hopeing any saved backups would be deleted but it didnt show a big increase it space so im wondering if they could be storeed elsewhere and where that place may be lol.

You deleted clockwork mod directory?

[Q] Problem with Rom Manager (Rom Download Error)

Hey Guys,
Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm having an issue with Rom Manager. Doesn't seem to matter what I click on to try to download, I keep getting 'Rom Download Error'.
Is this a known issue and if so what is the usual fix?
Thanks so much. Great work, as always.
have you tried clearing the download cache?
Yes.
I actually found the problem after nothing would work anywhere. Couldn't get anything from Rom Manager or the Market. Turns out my SD card was maxed due to all the backups I had made (had no idea they were upwards of 300MB a piece!). Weird though, because I thought anything downloaded from Rom Manager or the Market went to the internal phone storage by default. There's still plenty of space there.
Anyhow, I just erased a couple of unneeded backups and freed up over half a gig on the SD card and all is well again. Guess I'll upgrade to a 16GB card when the cashflow permits. Or maybe I'll ask for it for my birthday, heh (less than a week away).

I'm having this same problem and I have a 32 GB sd card. What's the point of paying for the full version if it doesn't work.

SD card, USB and memory

Let me start off by saying I am new, my phone is a t-989 and I tried to do a search but every time I tried to fill in the search space it would disappear. So that's why I'm asking a question that's probably been asked before. So I have a Tmobile galaxy s2 and an 8 gig sd card. I also downloaded the Astros manager app as well and don't really know how to use that. My problem is I have about 679mb on USB and 6.7 g on sd which is an 8gig card. I deleted some apps from my USB storage but the number hasn't changed. What can I do with the Astros app to make more room if it's possible and what is the use of a sd card if my phone is filled up? Also I read with Astros file I think you can move some apps to the sd card??? Lastly it is not rooted. Eventually I may want to root my phone, just don't know which one to use since there are a few out there.
Thanks for any assistance.
Where are you getting the space remaining numbers?
Have you loaded music, pics, etc to the phone yet? It's pretty unlikely that you managed to fill the 16 gigs of internal storage up with apps, so I don't think that's your issue.

if you want to stay stock, just flash the superuser method
here, you can read up on the methods that i compiled in my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514434
btw how are you reading your storage capacity? As in what is remaining and such..
if you have 6.7 on your sd card... well it sounds like there's is almost nothing on your sd card
I first would suggest moving your DCIM folder in your internal sdcard to your external_sd. also change the location for your pictures/videos to be save in your external storage in your camera app.
1080p videos are HUGE and each picture at the highest resolution is like 5mb?
if that's not the case.. probably just loaded with a bunch of apps or downloaded files?
you might be mistaking it for "SYSTEM STORAGE" which is simply 1 of 2 partitions of internal memory. 16gb = 14.1 actual GB... 12 goes to storage 2 goes to system. maybe your system partition is filled up.
Thanks! I actually changed my storage using my Astros file. I moved my gameloft and music to the external sd, so now it reads like this. SD Card total space= 7.40 GB available 242 mb. USB Total Space= 11.25 GB Available space=7.85 GB, System Storage=1.52 GB. So as for superuser, I need to learn more about that because I have no clue! I want to have a smooth running phone but more importantly more battery. Thanks for your info and any others that you provide.

Should I wait for ICS to come out first since I see many people feeling anxious about having to unroot and etc before they get it? Does it matter?

DCIM is your picture and video folder taken by your phone ising tge camera. ICS release could take a while so and even then I would wait for a rooted ICS rom before updating whoch typically doesnt take long after the official release so to me it doesnt really matter

How much difference is there from regular stock and flashing stock? Also, what benefits to i get by flashing another ROM? Ive heard of Juggernaut and Dark side or something like that. Dont know much about them.

Go to their page in the forums and read them?

App Storage space on ICS

Anyone else noticing less app storage space on any of the ICS ROMs? I didn't even restore/reinstall most of the apps I was running on GB, but I started getting insufficient storage space notices when trying to install apps the other day.
Could be a big rom or from your backup?
I haven't noticed at all, but it could be from the backup of your old rom you use to have or the new rom has a lot of extra features.
as stated above dont forget....how many nandroid backups do you have? do you use Titanium or something similar if so how many back ups are there, these all eat away your storage, hence why I bought a 32 gig micro sd card. I was making many backups between old gingerbread and new ics to make sure I had a functional phone at all times. One other thing how many roms have you downloaded they are also still there.

[Q] Why oh FRIGGIN why cant I get apps to SD!

I will apologize in advance for acting the village idiot but i don't get it.
I have been running the script to swap my card for the internal memory.
I have tried both Clean Rom 5.0 and Jedi x16
Tried both with different Kernels
Same Result, I get it to "Work" in that I see the "internal" memory as my 64gig card
However
All apps are still loading to the actual phone memory.
I am at a complete loss as to how I fix this. ill attempt to anwser some of the questions you may have in order to help me........
I am currently running Clean Rom 5.0 with perseus alpha36
card was formatted
ran script properly............Must have or I would have seen the swap under "storage"
Is there a step im missing? I see under app manager that the apps are still going to the actual phone memory.
I hope that made some level of sense and someone can help me out.
What is your micro Sd format?

Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.............................................
anybody home???
Zzzzzzzzzzz
Seriously, nobody can help????
i'm sorry bud, but android ICS and higher version are not allowed to move apps from Internal to SD. Google made the changes, but there are ways to do this and i assume you are rooted. Here it is, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889550, directory bind, i used it for a while, it works.
I have a working zip for this, it swaps the internal and external memory. You still need it?
I believe folder mount may be of some use to you.

[Q] Internal memory storage problem

I have a 32GB version of the N3. Im cunning CM11. Update nightlies every few days. This problem has been ongoing for months now and I cannot figure it out.
I keep running low on memory. My maximum used space inside the phone is AT THE MOST 7.5GB. It now says I have 500+ MB free. In practice I remove un-used stuff and the available space goes up.
I have been able to calculate a total of 18.4GB of space is missing and not usable. I have gone through my phone dozens of times trying to locate large files and remove them or locate the missing space.
Wont let me upload a photo, so here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tj39fbuu2tpbwqj/Screenshot_2014-07-15-12-40-05.png
Check in your downloads for files to delete, or if you dont need anything backed up do a complete internal format thru twrp/cwm or even flash an international rom which wipes everything on internal.
