HTC m8 won't detect earphones - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any idea why some earphones won't get detected ? My skull candy was working a while ago but now it won't even get detected . They are working on other devices and other earphones are working on my devices so neither earphone is faulty nor my audio jack ..

One V Bluetooth Problem

I recently bought this phone and found that there are problems with Bluetooth, I've tried to transfer files to other HTC One V, and its not working, even after getting devices paired, files are not transferring.
I am looking for any patch to solve this problem.
Hey even I've faced this problem and was really frustrated! But for me the Bluetooth transfer worked flawlessly after i switched my WiFi off. Guess its probably due to the Bluetooth - WiFi interference. Hope they fix it soon.
Tried.. Still Not working

Guys this is happening because of bluetooth version 4.0. Most of the devices are not compatible with this one. You will have to download a bluetooth manager app from Google Play shop to resolve this.

Bluetooth and WiFi are on same chip..
Maybe HTC did not take this into account while constructing One V

Issue with bluetooth headset
Hey,
I am facing peculiar issue with bluetooth, file transfer is working fine, but when I pair my HTC one V with my headset it doesn't work at all.
The same headset is working in all other mobiles including HTC one x.
Is anyone facing same issue like this.
Is there any fix available for the same.
I had a Q&A section added so everybody has a place to ask their questions, and to keep the forums clutter free. From now on, please keep all question based threads in the Q&A section. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure HTC and the chip company took it into account. Now it's possible they made some errors and a software update might fix it.
Can anyone tell me the manufacturer of the WiFi/Bluetooth chip and if it does FM too ?
EDIT: A ROM indicates Broadcom BCM4330 in /system/etc/firmware. This is one of a new generation of Broadcom combination chips that I've seen to be sensitive enough to even decode RDS with no earphone plugged in as an antenna.
The One X and One S are using a Qualcomm chip, which is a big departure from the TI and Broadcom chips HTC used in the past.
If someone could send a log from my app there's info about that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26102918&postcount=3
Thanks !
The H1S has a Qualcomm BT chip, the H1X has a BT chip from TI.
Looks like the H1V is on the older and you would hope more reliable Broadcom chipset, the 4330 is used in many other AOSP phones.

That's interesting...
So the H1S is the only HTC device with the Qualcomm chip then... ?
But then why does the teardown for the One X say it has that Qualcomm chip ? : http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/cracking-open-the-htc-one-x/6363151?seq=54
There's an AT&T variant that has a hidden FM app, but I'm not sure it's the same chip as the International H1X with NVidia Tegra.
The Qualcomm chip is the baseband/modem for the phone, not the Bluetooth/Wifi module.

A phone can have more than one Qualcomm chip.
Qualcomm is a chip manufacturer, and they make SOCs, as well as BT/WiFi/FM chips.
They've also acquired other companies, such as Atheros, adding to their chips portfolio.
This One X teardown: http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/cracking-open-the-htc-one-x/6363151?seq=54
Says this: "Qualcomm WCN3660 dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM radio combo chip (WCN3660 PFN634G6 A201002)"
And here's a press release for that chip: http://www.qualcomm.com/media/relea...ghly-integrated-connectivity-solution-superio
Bluetooth 4.0 is surely not an upgrade.!

Here is something intresting, I read an article on wikipedia about bluetooth 4.0 and got to know that its actually a downgrade in terms of its functioning. Bluetooth 4.0 is also called as Bluetooth low energy, designed to consume less power from battery, and some of the major features are-
(A) Its speed is less than classical bluetooth.
(B) Its latency is less.
(C) Its range is greater.
(D) It is not voice capable (which means BT headset won't work)
Check out the whole comparision table and more info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_low_energy

HTC Stereoclip Problems

I know there is a forum for HTC accessories, but my questions might be related to car mode on the one x itself.
Basically...
here is a copy of what I just asked HTC support in an email.. but I don't have much faith in them knowing what they are talking about as we all know how useless they can be sometimes!
'I have just bought a HTC StereoClip and have some issues. Firstly, all audio works fine through the device, but phone call audio still works through the phone speaker, not the stereoclip! Can this be changed?
Secondly, If I play music while tune in radio is playing, the radio does not cut out and both play at the same time.. is this a bug of HTC Car mode?
Lastly, I have the paid version of Tune in radio pro which I bought through google play, but the free version in car mode does not recognise any favourites or settings or anything.. is this also a bug?'
Do any of you guys know if I've just been misled into buying a glorified audio jack? I thought the price tag would at least justify being able to playing phone call audio through the device itself!
If so, it's straight onto eBay/return... but I'm hoping there is a way around this!
Did you ever get a reply about any of this?
I noticed the bug with audio being rooted through the phone issued of the Bluetooth stereoclip when in car mode.
I'm impressed with the audio quality overall and its great for music but having to switch to internal speaker for calls is lousy.

Stereo video hiss issue

Hello. My One X is afflicted with the very annoying hissing sound when in stereo recording as shown here (Not my video)
watch?v=Y8GTloRDO08 (Not allowed to post videos yet!)
I have been experimenting and at least on my phone the hiss doesn't occur if my headphones are plugged in it sounds perfectly normal then.
I am not technical at all so would this mean anything to anyone?
Seriously tempted to try and get a replacement I just know I will get someone that is hard of hearing that cant hear it to test it. It is especially blatant if you put headphones on it is horrible

After reading this topic, i checked mine and i also hear a hiss with stereo ON, untick stereo no hiss all good don't bother me and i thought i had a fault free HOX lol ohh well, better a hiss then a screen problem, battery etc.
+1. Got much worse after the latest update so seems to me it is a software issue.
Skickat från min HTC One X via Tapatalk 2
Can anyone else confirm this issue and post their software versions?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Same issue here, though it is the same with and without stereo recording turned on.
Interestingly, using something like Camera ICS+ results in no hissing sound, so it's either the software that HTC ships, or the app itself uses a processing chip that the third-party apps do not.
Software version number - 129.401.11.
The handset is a UK, unbranded and carrier unlocked device.

Guyz!
I bought a headset(don't ask the name i really can't make out of whats written on the box.. its chinese ). the first day it worked okay... but now its evident that the left side has more sound than the right one(i hope u get it).. i was just hoping if any of you are aware of an app that balances the sound on the two ear pieces....
hope to get a solution soon... tried jet audio basic but it only works on that app. for normal music app it is a no go...
thanks in advance..

You've tried in other phone? Chinese headsets sometimes stops working fine, when I bought one next week only listen one headset.
Try it, sometimes for that don't have solution.
get an original headset, it's a bit costly but it works fine without problems
(personally i've tried 2 chinese headsets and its worked 1 week...after i buyed az original htc headset i never met problems)
Trouble resolved... A bit of thrashing the troubled speaker.. And knw difference is not noticeable.. I bought a headset of JBL.. So, i guess this post was the most idiotic i cud make.. Thanks for the response guyz...

Aditya

[Q] Oppo N1 CM Edition Headphone Mic Issue

Hey guys, first time poster here.
I just got my Oppo N1 CM edition two days ago. The mic on the phone itself works just fine but whenever I plug in my headphones, I am almost completely inaudible to the person I'm speaking to. The issue isn't the headphones, since I've tried multiple pairs and they all have the same problem. Can't seem to find any posts about anyone experiencing the same problem with their N1. Since I wasn't sure whether it was a hardware/firmware issue, I emailed Oppo customer service first. That was a little over a day ago so I thought I'd try my luck here. Any idea if this is a known issue and whether there is a possible fix for it on my end?
Thanks
So you mean a headset with a separate mic or using only headphones and therefore still using device mic
Sent from my N1 using Tapatalk
Ah, I experienced this too. The mic didn't work with my apple's earphone when I was making a call. The button works though. It worked fine on my note 2. Didn't try the original oppo earphone.

More specifically, any wired headset designed for use with Apple iDevices is almost surely NOT going to work.
Saying so - please try the original Oppo headset. If that also doesn't work then it's a general issue
