I restored a build prob where I added 3 ril lines. now the phone won't boot. I can do a reboot of some kind with power and volume up but then the screen goes blank.
At the time I was trying cm12 latest and reverting to cm 12 of 1-28. The build prop was also from that 1-28. I thought it could do no harm but it did.
Managed to get back into recovery by after volume up and power keep thos pressed. It then shows the charge icon when connected to a pc end is connecting to windows. with adb reboot recovery it will reboot into recovery.
And this is in Development because......?

If you have a nandroid backup, restore it but in recovery, just restore system. Or try to do a dirty flash of your custom rom and it'll boot
nvm

The problem wasn't the flash but getting the divice in flash mode again. it went to a black screen after power and volume up.

re flash TWRP and then restore a stock nand from my thread, preferably one with the same software number as your firmware (defo has to be the same if s on and u want to update via OTA in future). that should solve booting issue

So today i was gonna try to install a custom rom, more specifically Cyanogenmod 10.2. for my Tmobile Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999). When i went to boot into recovery, i saw the screen that is displayed right before you enter recovery, but then after that it just stayed on a black screen. I took out the battery for a few seconds and powered on my phone. Then i tried entering recovery directly through ROM Manager. I got the same black screen, but now if i try to power on my phone without entering CWM, it automatically tries to go into CWM recovery regardless. . I tried a few battery pulls and nothing has worked yet. Luckily i am able to enter download mode so i can flash the stock rom via odin and then restore my backup from the SD card later. I just wanted to know if there is a simpler fix than this so i don't have to go through the trouble of flashing stock rom again. Btw i am still on the stock rom running android 4.3 jelly bean.
Try flashing custom recovery again and make sure it's the newest.

The problem was i couldn't boot up my phone in the first place because it would automatically go into recovery. I actually fixed it by going it to download mode and then pressing the down button which rebooted the phone properly. I used rom toolbox and now im just gonna stick with TWRP.

That's what I meant, you can flash recovery in download mode but as long as you got it working its all good. And yes I highly suggest using twrp over cwm
Thanks anyway man! TWR FTW!!
Hi all, after some modding it seems that my nexus 7 2013 lte custom recovery is vanished. I've tried to flash it via adb, I've flashed the new 5.1 official image, but nothing happen. Every time I try to boot into recovery mode, via adb or power+volume up, all I get is a dead android robot logo with no options.
And, btw, my N7 works perfectly
What can I do?
Thanks
When you flash a new android version you lose root and custom recovery, you need to root and flash custom recovery again as your currently on stock, when that robot is on his back you also have hold down a button combo to access the fastboot / bootloader or recovery, unless you send it the command via adb.
My advice is re-root using cfautoroot and flash custom recovery with flashify.
Ok, thanks! I've flashed twrp (I'm still no-root) and it works fine. Now is there any possibility to come back on stock recovery?
Flashify premium allows you to download and flash stock recovery or bootloader,
if you can't afford it or there not available for dl yet you can alternatively extract the .img files
from the factory image and flash them instead.

Nothing to do. I've extracted the img file from the factory image and flashed it via fastboot but, when I restart the device in recovery mode, it still shows the green half dead androidbot
^Thats normal. When you get to that screen you have to press volume up, down and power all at the same time, all three buttons. Just keep pressing them all at once a few times and it'll let you into stock recovery. It took me about 10 minutes to get in the first time. Don't hold the buttons, a quick press.

So you're saying that normally, on a Nexus 7 with no root and with stock recovery, the combination key to enter in the recovery isn't power+volume up ? Sorry for repeating, but I'm new at modding
I'm saying when you boot into recovery and it gives you the dead android (on it's back I think?) do what I said above.

Done Thank you all!
Yeah it's pita to press, it's why I prefer to launch recovery from flashify or quick boot it's so much easier.
Android seems to love doing things arsed about faced / over complicated it should just be an option in settings, power off like
custom roms along with wireless adb.
I used htcdev to unlock the bootloader on my phone, I then followed this online guide (Im not allowed to post the link) to flash a stock android rom to it, I followed all the steps but I when I went to reboot my phone It said something about no os installed but at that point i'd already hit continue. It then told me I needed something to root my phone so I selected install and let my phone reboot. It hit the splash screen for HTC and froze. None of the buttons work and neither fastboot or adb is recognising the device as connected. I made a TWRP recovery but currently can't do anything about it as my phone is just stuck on the splash screen.
Can someone help me reboot my phone when its frozen?
Hold both volume buttons and power button until the device vibrates and reboots. Then you can immediately hold volume down to access to bootloader, and from bootloader you can access recovery.

Thanks so much man, I'm back in the twrp recovery but now I have a new problem. The Lollipop ROM I transferred to my phone's internal storage isn't working . I flash it but when I go to reboot it says no OS installed. But I wiped the system and data partitions in the process so how do I recover my stock backup or how do I get a new rom on my phone

Flash newest TWRP, it has MTP support so you can get any other rom ZIP you want on the phone and then flash it.

Thanks mate, I actually sorted it by mounting the storage when plugged into my PC and that allowed me to transfer the zipped file which worked perfectly.
Hi everybody,
some time ago I flashed my ace II with cm 11 build 20141118 by ace2nutzer. Installation was ok and it worked properly. However, it had some minor problems, one of which was that battery wouldn't charge while booting the phone. One day it happened that my phone arrived at 0% battery and shut down. I couldn't find a way to turn it on because of the too-low battery, so I tried to see if during recovery mode maybe the battery would charge... but, instead of going to recovery, I pressed the wrong buttons and entered into download mode. There, the phone wouldn't charge and at one point it shut down. After some days I discovered that I could charge the phone by simply connecting it to a computer... But now it won't start. It gets bootloop (more precisely it keeps restarting) at the samsung logo. I tried to reflash the build I had before, but I keep getting status 7 error (even after deleting asserts).
Soo, is my phone bricked? Is there anything I could do to make it work?
Thanks to anyone that will help me
tl;dr: phone shut down during download mode, now bootloops and gives Status 7 error (even after deleting asserts) while trying to flash the same ROM it had before.
Anyone?
I forgot to say that I had a nandroid backup, but I can't restore it: it says "error while restoring /system!".

Doesn't work. Odin doesn't give any error, but the phone keeps bootlooping.

CWM is a custom recovery. stock recovery is the one you have installed with the stock firmware.

Ok, how to access it then? If I press volume up + power + home, CWM starts.
After flashing the latest TWRP Recovery for my OnePlus 5T (v3.3.0-1) in order to update to the latest firmware (I'm still on Android 8.1.0), whenever I try rebooting into recovery mode my screen goes black with the white LED permanently on. The only way to solve this is to hold the power button and power off my phone. I am able to boot back into my phone just fine, but I'm completely unable to access recovery mode now. Any idea what went wrong here, and how to fix this? This is super irritating as I have no idea what the problem is at all.
