cec-client for fire-tv - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi friends,
I see that Fire-TV never switches-off the HDMI signal but simply a blank screen when it goes to sleep. Also, there is no way to turn off my TV.
Is there a possibility that somebody can compile cec-client (https://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec) for FireTv so that I could turn-off my TV by using it.
From some other thread, I came to know of /system/bin/stop command, but it doesn't just switches off the HDMI but it completely shuts off the Android sub-system. The base linux/kernel processes are still running. So when I use the /system/bin/start command, it has to start the whole Android sub-system. So it seems /system/bin/start and /system/bin/stop are not just turning HDMI on or off but are more like a soft shutdown and restart.
Many thanks in advance.

Hello friends,
Can anybody reply, can somebody help compile cec-client for fire-tv?

[Q] Auto start when connect to charger

Hi,
Ive googled about this matter and cant seem to find a solution for the galaxy tab s lte but for other samsung devices since s3 is possible.
Ive also tried the Auto Power On app (paid apps) both of them didnt work and requested a refund.
It seems that we have to modify the file /system/bin/playlpm or /system/bin/lpm or /system/bin/ipod for this to work.
Ive tried everything and still doesnt work on the galaxy tab s lte.
What i need is for the tablet to boot upon connected to charger when the state is off. Now all i can see is the battery icon stating its charging but never boot into android.
Anyone have any idea how to make this work for the galaxy tab s lte?
Cheers.
Well it begs the question as to why in the world would anyone want this?
I wouldn't want my tab on every time I charge it.
I think you would need a custom rom, don't the apps you can download/buy, need your device to be already running so they can shutdown or run an app or change a mode when they detect you plugging in or removing the charger.

Why would anyone need this? Let me answer you.
Some of us use our android tablets in cars ... There's app to make the tablet shutdown when u turn off the engine and the power is disconnected (tons of them).
But when u start the engine back and the power is re-connected, the tablet wont turn on. Right now the only solution i can do is to use tasker to airplane mode on the device when the display is off, and airplane mode off when the display turns back on. This saves power so that the tablet doesnt run out of juice overnight in the car.
So most of this has to do with in-car tablet systems that you want it to boot up as you start your engine. I can custom rom my tablet to run CM12 however even CM12 doesnt boot up, some settings needs to be changed and im not sure which part so i need some help on this.
Cheers.

Thanks in advance.

C'mon. You and I both know that this is a niche scenario, and normally it's a bad idea. If your running low enough on battery to run you device dead, you want it to charge a while before turning on. We've all been waiting on a dead phone to get a few percentage points charged so that way it doesn't die immediately upon startup.
I've been leaving my Tab S on a constant power supply in the car. This means I have to turn it on and off manually. I have been toying with using Tasker to turn the screen on/off based on connection with a BT device that would be powered by an switched power source.
The problem I get is warning messages about trying to charge the battery while it is too hot or too cold.

Why dont u try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.as.powerchecker it will close the android once ur power is disconnected from the car ...
As for turning it back on when u start. Still no solution ...
Any help guys? Last time asking ...
Using Tasker and Secure Settings, I can get the tablet to turn the screen on and off when the power is connected. If rooted, you could turn Airplane Mode on and off in Tasker also. But short of a change in the firmware, I have no idea how to power off and restart based on external power connection.
From what I remember, when CM12 was still buggy... when you connect a charger when it was powered off, it would show the battery icon and automatically reboot into recovery. Of course that was a bug, so I don't really know.

Same here, did you find an answer?
Same here but no solution found
Iam trying to set my tablet to auto start/boot when charger is connected in mini usb port. I didnot find lpm.sh in root\system\bin folder to modify. But i found ilm file with below script. Plz tell how to modify to make powered off tablet to boot when charger is connected.
Script to start "pm" on the device, which has a very rudimentary
# shell.
#
base=/system
export CLASSPATH=$base/framework/ime.jar
exec app_process $base/bin com.android.commands.ime.Ime "[email protected]"
You can instruct init to reboot the device whenever charger mode is detected. Create a new .rc file or edit any existing one:
# /system/etc/init/off_mode_charge.rc
on charger
setprop sys.powerctl reboot,leaving-off-mode-charging

Please help

Hello I am looking for guidance to fix my firestick. I've exhausted all search options.
I lost my firestick remote some time ago and just got competed moving. I decided to re setup my firestick. However I am running into the following issue.
I now have a new router, so my firestick is still looking to connect to the old router settings. I downloaded the firetv app but i can't remember my old router net id and password settings to create a hotspot with my phone and update my network settings.
I purchased a new remote as I have read you can just pair it to your current firestick by holding the home button for 10 seconds. I've tried this several times. However my firestick seems to be stuck in sleep mode. I have tried to unplug the firestick to reboot it. However I cannot get past the black screen.
I have verified that I am on the correct hdmi screen and the unit is plugged in. I also tried two different hdmi ports on my tv and no luck.
Does anyone have a work around or am I stuck buying a new firestick?
Do you see anything as the FireTV boots? It's just black?

I do not get to see it even boot. When I plug the unit into the hdmi port the screen stays black. I am on the correct hdmi setting on the tv. I have 6 hdmi ports and have no luck on any of them.
I've read that people say the USB cord can get burned out so the unit is not getting power. I will swap my iPhone cord to see if that is the issue.

Firestick 4k sleep issue

Hello,
I'm using the 4k stick for torrenting and also connect ssh to it. The problem is that after some hours I cannot remote connect to the device because it is in some sleep state.
I disabled sleep from the UI and messed with below settings but it did not help. After some time the stick goes offline.
settings put system screen_off_timeout 2147460000
settings put secure sleep_timeout 0
After some more research I've found that it might be a feature of the stick that puts it to sleep mode after the TV is switched off. The only workaround found is hacking the HDMI adapter so the stick will not know the state of the tv.
Does anyone know how to have the stick permanently available?

"How to set custom Sleep or Screensaver times on the Amazon Fire TV or Stick without root" http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-set-...-on-the-amazon-fire-tv-or-stick-without-root/
Thanks but as I said, trying different values for those commands did not help. After I power-off my TV the stick enters in sleep mode.
There is a program called "Stay Alive!" that has worked on my Tank for years now. Havent tried it on my 4k.
When you run it, it will display an error about google play services and appear not to run, but it still runs and you dont need to set anything up in the app itself.

[help] *Any* way to have the Fire TV Stick 4K (mantis) go automatically to deep sleep instead of black screen

Hi,
I'm using the firestick on a (PC) monitor and I do not want to buy a TV for it (I don't like their quality/price).
Problem is : This monitor don't have hdmi-cec, so when the stick goes to sleep it displays a black screen to the hdmi output which prevents the monitor from going to sleep. The deep sleep option in the settings doesn't always work, sometimes it only goes to black screen.
I don't understand why sleep is so complicated to do with the stick, but I'm ready to root it in order to make deep sleep the default option (especially after inactivity).
I'm quite tech savy and it would be great to finally have a solution (not the "unplug it" one) on internet against this common problem.
Do you have any solution ? Is there the same problem on lineageos on the firestick 3 ? Is magisk a solution?
Thank you for your time!
Edit : I posted in the wrong section and am very sorry, is it possible to move this please ?

Philips smart tv won't change channels

Smart TV 32pfl4664/f7a turns on ok and I can navigate to antenna tv ok. The channels can be changed up and down ok but later in 2 or three minutes the tv won't respond to any commands to change channels. When you touch any of the 4 navigation keys you hear the bing sound but nothing else happens. The volume, mute, and home keys are still active. If I hit home it goes to home and I can re navigate back to live tv, then the channels can again be selected for a short time but it quits again.
This tv was powered but not turned on for about 2 months if that matters? This issue was obvious the first time I turned it back on after the rest. The tv snapped out of this bad behavior and worked fine for about a day after a system restart, then returned to to it's bad behavior after leaving off over night.
What I have done so far is a new remote,. Several system restarts and finally a factory reset with new software update. It still does the same thing.
Anyone know what's happening or what to do next?
Thanks in advance for any help, Bruce
