Hi,
I am not able to boot in new recovery even after flashing it with mobile uncle mtk tools.
Pressing the volume keys and power key simultaneously just opens a black page with some text written on it which i think is not the recovery i flashed.
I am using mobile uncle mtk tools for flashing recovery. When i try to boot in recovery with 'reboot in recovery' option of mtk tools that too doesn't do anything (Micromax logo displays then blinks and android home screen is displayed).
Please help.?

[Q] Help with cyanogen mod

Hi all can someone help me out please... I'm trying to flash the cyanogen mod onto my desire z. I used visionary r14 for a perm root. installed rom manager, downloaded the cyanogen mod selected backup current rom and wipe data but i get stuck at the recovery screen while rebooting... what do i do there? Perhaps I am doing something wrong
Maybe post in the cyanogen mod thread.... It helps more then making a useless thread

did you install Clockwork Recovery?
You shouldn't be making a new thread for this in the dev forum
But I suspect the problem is that you don't have S-OFF. If you need help on this bit, post up in one of the more relevant threads in the dev forum, e.g. the ones on the rooting method you are using.
First, don't make a useless "need help" thread in a DEVELOPMENTAL section. Either post in relevant threads or post in the Q&A board.
Now, make sure you have S-Off. If you don't know what this means, go to one of the root threads and read the instructions.
If you do have S-Off, get Clockwork recovery installed. If you don't know how, go to that thread to seek help.
Once you have both of that, go flash CM. If you get stuck, go to the CM thread for help.
What you can try doing is flashing Clockwork Recovery for a second time. I had a stuck recovery problem similar to yours, and flashing Clockwork twice solved my problem. You may also have to reboot twice for it to work.

No, it won't. The TWRP v2.7.0.1 and 2.7.0.2, I think in the "original" development section are the only versions of TWRP currently compatible with our vk810.

Thanks for the response again. My tablet is 4.4.2 though. Would it work for me? Did you do that recovery when your tablet was 4.2.2? If it doesnt work, is there a way to downgrade to 4.2.2?

Whatever the directions say in the thread... I don't recall by memory and I've got to get to bed. ? If it says under 4.2 then I'm sure it's correct.

It's an original stock ROM as provided by LG when acquired by using LG's official mobile download tool for Windows, as I detail in my first post of http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/development/vk810-4g-altev-verizon-lg-g-pad-8-3-t2990481. Credit to those who provided the information before me.
Oops, no OS now :/
Hi, so I followed the intructions thusly:
- Install TWRP
- nandroid backup
- Wipe dalvik/cache/system
- Flash CWM from this thread
Of course at that point I've wiped System and have no OS. Is that the intended workflow here? If so, how can I use CWM to restore my backup? I have the backup I made with TWRP, but can't figure out how to restore it using CWM, or if that's even possible. All of the restore options in CWM come back saying no files are found, and I see no way to browse for backups to restore. I'm not sure if maybe the right partitions just weren't mounted or what.
After dicking around for a bit I ended up flashing TWRP again, and rebooting back to TWRP recovery, where I was able to restore my backup.
Sorry if this is more of a CWM question, but this version seems quite a bit different than I'm used to. I haven't used CWM for a while (since my Droid X) since I got pigeonholed into SafeStrap/TWRP with my Verizon GS4.
Thanks for any insight,
== Matt
As you found out, you can't restore a TWRP backup in CWM. If you hadn't wiped everything and had backed up using CWM, then you'd be able to restore that, of course. No reason to wipe it in the first place, though, if all you want is to just restore it again.

Alright, I'm just a bit rusty. That's kind of what I thought, but I was just following orders. So basically I can follow your directions and just wipe dalvik/cache without wiping system then, right?
Edit: errr, I mean N00b-un-2's directions*

I followed all instructions to the tee; however, after I mounted the system and installed the SuperSu zip when I went to reboot it says no OS installed. I tried restoring from nandroid backup, but I get the same message, and my phone won't boot all the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of TWRP are you using? The "No OS installed" message is expected on that initial reboot.

TWRP-Recovery-2.8.6.0-Hima-CPTB.img is the one I am using. After the 4th attempt it finally booted all the way. Should I keep this recovery, or should I install the non-Beta version? I am rooted now and everything working properly.

Keep that one. It is the most up-to-date.
So just a quick question.... During my rooting steps, I never did backup my stock system...I back up everything after I rooted..as there anyway to go back and start over? Or do I have to wait until a RUU comes out?<br/>

No way to start over. RUU or someone else's stock backup is the only option if you ever want to OTA.
Cool! Thanks!!
So...is it worth asking, does anyone with a un-touch stock backup they could upload for sprint???

Twrp help please

I'm stuck. I'm trying to root and install twrp recovery thru Odin. I have everything downloaded except twrp.. When I download twrp my computer asks if I want to open with winzip. I click yes then winzip has a message saying it is an unsupported archive. I'm downloading twrp 2.8.7 4.4.img.tar. I need help with this. How do I download twrp and get it so I can put it in Odin? I have searched all day for answer. Please help
I forgot to say I'm on t mobile Galaxy Note 3 5.0
Just save the the file as is. Why are you opening it in Winzip? Doesn't sound like you know enough to flash your phone. Please google how to odin twrp before you do it. Read it twice.
I got it. I came from Verizon where had locked bootloader and had to use safestrap. Never used custom recovery. For some reason the first time I saved the file, I couldn't get Odin to open it. I'm now rooted with custom rom.

Here easiest way
Install these apps from store
Twrp manager
Flashify
Download the twrp install via either then flash with Flashify . All other apps failed Installing twrp except flashify can download cwm twrp and Philz via flashify then backup kernel or recovery. Using SD card(simple fix to bootloop issues sometimes) flash the file you downloaded from it not phone. Should reboot after and hold down power home and vol+. Boot into recovery and back up everything. Should have already done this before you did custom rom. Incase partitions decided to corrupt lol note and galaxy tend to have a issue with partitions corrupting.
Subscribed to thread so need detailed guide that easy I got u. As well as files to use.
Thank you. I did backup everything. I always do. I appreciate your time and help. I know I will have other questions in the future, if you don't mind, it would be nice to know there is someone who can help if I get stuck.
