Site Down
My PPC boot screens site is down. I host it myself and was (up until this point) using a free DNS service from ZoneEdit.com... they have a maximum bandwith of something I thought we would never use for PPCBS. We have exceded the limit of the free account. I can't afford to get it back up unless Donations are made. I don't like asking for money but to get the site back up, I will need about 40 bucks to get it back up and running. Thanks. DONATION LINK
All this rapid share, yadda yadda is really getting old quick. If at least a few ROM Cookers are interested. I'll setup a space on my server to allow uploads that point back to an HTTP download section. You would be responsible for uploading the file, then posting a link here on XDA that would be a direct download link. The uploads would be handled by a passworded FTP account. I have about 400gig of download to spare per month, which should be more than enough for a bunch of Roms. Either reply here or send me a PM and we can talk.
I can also set it up, so that people can go to a root folder and find all the Roms and just pick the ones they want. Heck I can even store older Roms on the server so if someone wants an old one it will be up there.
1st point, there will be no warez posted.
2nd point, you must be a recognized cooker.
Well Cookers, drop a line and let me know.
It would end up being something like this, with each cooker having his own folder.

The only reason I could see a person leaving is if Microsoft sent a letter saying they did not like people cooking the roms and throwing a hissy fit. I have went ahead and created the folder on my remote server and am uploading stuff right now. I have not made the ftp account for uploading, however I should be able to allow open access to what I have on there in about 2hrs.

I hate rapidshare as much as the next non premium person, so i hope this gets off the ground. people don't even use aspupload, or whatever its called..
Ok the Basic is up, http://www.captfiero.com/romsYou will have to mouse over the file name if it is too long to show up, and then just look at your tool bar to see the entire name.
If anyone see's a file that should not be there. (copyrighted) Please let me know and I will remove it.
Also if a file is something "YOU" made or prefer me not to have up, let me know and I will remove it.
I will not make the upload address public so if you want files uploaded, you can send me a PM and I will upload it, or if you are an established cooker, I will give you direct upload settings.
hmm
I am sure my chef would love this feature, his connection sucks back home though, so if this is genuine I will start mirroring his stuff here too ... I guess the more mirrors the better, I been mirroring to 4shared and mediafire all this time... seems to work well
Just FYI tho, CRCinAU has at least around 100GB of traffic a day (may be he can correct me on this) ...

He said something like that somewhere.. If you think, most rom topics get 1k+ hits per day.. and say 100 download.. a 50 meg file, that's 5gig from nowhere..
And when a new rom is out..
Well I have 1200gig total traffic allowed, I use about 400gig a month for Videos and I want to keep about 400gig aside for spikes. That leaves me about 400gig to play with. I can't mirror the entire PPC world, but the latest roms and a few add ons would be fine.
heh - where abouts is this mirror located?
At the moment, my mirroring system is handling the load quite well - I have a total of 5 mirrors around the globe (1 x EU, 3 x US, 1 x AU) and the amount of traffic is much lower than it was a month ago on the one AU server because of the way things are spread out now.
The mirroring scripts will auto-detect where the user is and send them to the nearest server (or if we don't have a server near you, we randomly pick one to share the load).
You'll notice this is why I don't have direct links to anything anymore - it's all to my download script.
Even DeviceUpdate uses this script to custom-generate it's index based on where you are
That being said, as of my typing this, since 28th August, I've served:
Release 12.11 ROMs: 270 @ 40Mb each (10.8Gb)
Release 11.2 ROMs: 38 @ 41Mb each (1.55Gb)
Device Update Sessions: 1,235 (unknown download amount)
That's pretty good for less than 4 days
Some more mirrors would be nice - although mirrors in the US are probably not as helpful as the rest of the world... There's ~1Gb of content to be mirrored and count on ~100Gb per month of traffic in a lazy month.

To my knowledge it is a US based server. I am personally in Canada however it seems that US hosts are far cheaper. I'll send ya a PM with the details.
NOTE: The following guide is not my work it belongs to surya467 - Dexter's Lab. I found it in the lumia 800's section. And since it is valid for all wp7 devices i thought about sharing it here! Mods please don't hit me with any infraction.
THE GUIDE
So here is how to register your phone as a developer phone FOR FREE....You can deploy only 3 .xaps to your device since you are verified as a student, also u can unlock 3 Windows phone using 1 Live ID.
Part I - Getting a .edu email id for FREE
Step 1
You need to sign up, https://eims.maricopa.edu/MAW/MAW.html here.
At the signup page, you need to tick, "I am a new student and have never attended any Maricopa Community College or Skill Centers." this option, then fill in the captcha and continue.
Step 2
Next you need to give personal information, make sure you give your real information, except thePost code SSN which probably everyone doesnt have, so u can generate a FAKE SSN, http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/soc...ity-number.php here, and post code, you could just google up for a post code of "Arizona" or probably any postcode in the US would do.
Step 3
After you finish signup, you will get an MEID, a email, and a password. Save it in notepad.
Now there is a trick, go to https://eims.maricopa.edu/MAW/lookup.pl?req=passwd , click NO, den put ur details der, put the same password as before
Now try to loggin to www.maricopa.edu/google/ or goto https://mail.google.com/ and use the Email and password.
It takes almost 2-3 days to get active so don't worry if it doesnt work at the 1st attempt.
Part II - Getting a Dreamspark account using the .edu email
Step 1
Once you get access, goto https://www.dreamspark.com/ and you need a live account to login with, so you use the live account to which you want to unlcok your WP7 device, duh!
Step 2
Goto get verified, use school as "Chandler/Gilbert Community College" and state as "Arizona". Now fill out the rest of the information and when it asks for the email address, use the .edu email address you obtained from 'Part I'.
Step 3
Once your done here, you should get a verification email in your .edu email, so go chek it out there and click on the verification link.
Now you have an edu email and a dreamspark account!!
Part III - Create an Apphub account and link it to your Dreamspark LiveId.
Step 1
After Dreamspark is verified, go to App Hub - home register your Windows Live ID and signup as a student. It will ask if you have a verified Dreamspark account.
Step 2
Download the Windows phone developer tools from AppHub or from here
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en....aspx?id=13890
Step 3
Run the Windows Phone Developer Registration tool. Sign in with Windows Live ID you registered at AppHub, connect your phone and make sure it is not screen locked, viola, your WP7 device is now unlocked using a verified developers id.
And you can unlock 2 other Windows 7 phones too for a total of 3 phones.
Not to mention you can submit your apps to microsoft through this apphub account.
Here's a link to original thread if you like - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551057
Why would you repost this..... The other thread is still alive and well.
the whole wp7 community doesnt check the lumia section.. thats why i posted it here!
Do NOT post duplicate threads, and do not knowingly break rules (and then ask the mods to do nothing)....

I have a Pebble, which doing a great job of getting Android Notifications! I just wonder if I can do the same thing with Google Glass.
There are some notification forwarder on the Market now, however, since I am already running Tasker, so I wonder if I could use
Tasker + Google's Mirror API
to achieve same thing without running any other APP on my phone, nor on my Glass, and here it is: "Glasker"
"Glasker" encapsulated Mirror API's token and authorization process into several Tasker tasks so you only need to write simple tasker "Profile" based on trigger you want then send anything to Glass!
With "Glasker", you could:
1. Forward ANY Android notification (as far as Tasker can get) to your Glass.
2. Forward Music Track info on your Phone to Glass while playing by Phone.
3. All of communications are just between your phone, Google's cloud and your Glass. Nothing go through another server.
4. You tell me!
Before we start, here are the disclaimer:
1. As Tasker is just plain text, you can see everything how those tasks works. Please review the code before proceed and once you run the tasks, I am not responsible what happened to your phone, your glass, Google's cloud or your washing machine, etc...
2. I am NOT affliated to the author of "Tasker" nor "RESTask for Tasker". Thus I am do NOT know if any of them send your message somewhere else. Don't use this project if you suspect anything.
Okay, Here are the setup steps:
0. Install a Tasker plugin "RESTask for Tasker" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freehaha.restask This is used to send REST message to Google's cloud. (Tasker's internal PUT doesn't work here...)
1. Setup your OAuth2.0 Client ID and Client secret at https://console.developers.google.com/project (If you have no idea on what I am saying here, I will try to add a walk thru in 3rd post when I got time!)
2. Turn on your Glass and make sure it connected to your phone via MyGlass app. Make sure your phone and Glass can access the network.
3. Import downloaded "Glass.prj.xml" file into Tasker
4. Open task "TimeInZulu" and modify Variable Substract: %deliverytime, xxxxx according to your time zone!
In Taiwan (GMP+0800), xxxxx=8*60*60=28800
In LA, USA (GMP-0800), please change Variable Substract-->Variable add: %deliverytime, 28800
Other time zone please modify as needed or you will not hear a chime when message delivered to your Glass!
5. Run Task "Get Authorization 1" once and input your Client ID, Client secret (Those two variables will be kept in Tasker Variables in PLAIN text since it will be used later), than your default browser will fire
6. After grant yourself with the priviledge of "Glass timeline request", than you will be directed to a web page with a code. Please copy the code.
7. Return to Tasker, than run "Get Authorization 2" (hence Google's Two-Step Authorization....), than input the code you get from last step.
8. Let the Task run a while (10~20 second), then you should see a message on Glass says "My Notification forwarder Setup Completed!" (If not, lease scroll to right of timeline to see this message. It should be the 1st message)
9. Now, go back to Tasker/Profile than setup your trigger. (My default trigger are with Line, a Whatsapp like messanger very popular in Taiwan)
10. Profit!
If you find this useful, Thanks button is just a click away! Also, if you can make this project better, please also share what you modified here!
Profile explaination:
1. GlassConnected: Master switch for all sending profiles. I disable the forwarding of message if my Glass is not connected to my phone via BT directly for apparently security reason. In theory as long as both your Phone and Glass are connected to the network, you can forward message even they are at opposite side of the world!
2. SendLineMsg: Send message from Line, a Whatsapp like app wildly used in certain parts of world (4 billion active user!). You can modify this to any other messanger!
3. SendMusicInfo: Not necessary, it's just a demo to show it can send something else.
Task explaination:
1. Get Authorization 1/2: To get authorization from Google to allow access to Mirror API.
2. Remove All TimeLine Items: Utility task. As name suggests, it removes all timeline items created (only) by Glasker. It also reset several Tasker variables should you encounter problem. (No need to re-do Get Authorization)
3. Get Time Line: Used in "Remove All TimeLine Items" to get all timeline items created by Glasker
4. GetAccessToken: Utility task. Used to get new access token from Google (since token are temporarily and expires about 360 seconds). Usually you don't need to mess with this task
5. TimeInZulu: Convert local time to Zulu time. It seems Mirror API only accepts Zulu time format. (You need to modify this task based on your timezone as above step 4 or you wil not hear reminder chime when mesasge delivered
6. SendStaticCard: This task is used to send customized content to Glass.
7. SendLineMsg: Send nofication from Line app to the Glass. I update both "Boundle Cover" as will as content
8. SendMusicInfo: Send the music track info for the music playing at stock music player on your PHONE. (This is a demo of non-chimed Card send to glass)

This looks pretty cool. Sorry if I missed it, but does glass automatically turn on, visual, for each notification?

Yes, you can make a sound when notification push to Glass. However, the Glass will not turn on the screen. (This is explicitly mentioned by Google that such ability will not be allowed in Mirror API, only for APP running on Glass itself).
What's cool here is that when you hear the notification sound, if you turn on the Glass in about 5 second (by touchpad or head-up activation), the Glass will show the notification card directly instead of the regular card with time.
The task of "SendLineMsg" is an example to have a card with notification sound, while "SendMusicInfo" doesn't have sound.
Got any way to go the other way? From Glass to phone? Would be great for voice commands for home automation.

Yes, it's possible to go the other way (from glass to Phone). However you need to run a HTTP server on your phone.... The whole Mirror API is two way...
I was thinking to have Tasker to enable/disable the HTTP server on phone based on the message sent (to save phone resource-->Battery when no message are needed) but don't have time to do it yet...
You are welcome to make modification here!

It's depends on your time zone. If you are in US, you need replace the "Variable Substract" action with "Variable add" action than put your time zone difference in second.
I'm trying to use this to forward YouTube videos to glass. Getting close I think.

Any luck on this? Does the timeline card open up the correct application? Can I send myself a location from my phone and open it up with maps on glass? This would be awesome!
