I have the 10.1 and my headphone jack has basically stopped working. At first I had to hold the headphones in at weird angles to get it to work and now basically nothing helps. I'm pretty sure this is a hardware problem I just want to know
1) has anyone else had this problem
2) are there any easy fixes for this
Thanks
Same thing happened to my 10.1. I tried some custom roms, restoring to stock and blowing compressed air in the jack. Nothing worked. I am still under warranty so sent it in to get it fixed. I do believe it was a hardware issue as it came back fixed and paper work said the headphone jack had been replaced. I was holding my breath as Knox is tripped, but Samsung fixed it, no charge.

Hey there
Yesterday I suddenly realized, that my ear piece speaker stopped working. First I thought it was just a little bug, solvable through re-trying to call or rebooting.
Nothing worked. Strangely enough going via the load speaker or the headset, everything sounds fine. Just the ear piece in the phone seems defect.
Then I found some weird diy solutions like using your headphone jack as a drill and pushing and pulling it in several ways or using a tooth-pick to scramble open some stuck switch. But honestly I don't know if this helps or breaks my headphone jack.
You guys have any idea how to solve this - don't want to send it in (wait weeks and get an lcd-desire back).
Cheers and Thanks
Just off the phone (no, not with my Desire) with HTC Customer Service, who have never heard of this issue and just recommend a hard-reset.
Still need to try the "jam the original headphones in and out"-solver tho.
seriously? I'm the first with this issue?
well hard reset, nor poking in the jack brought any benefit. so sending it in it is then :/
The last week I updated to [LEAK][ICS 4.0.3] Acer_AV041_A100_1.012.00_WW_GEN1 and the yesterday tonight doesnt recognize headphones. I did hard reset and nothing.
I'm guessing you get sound without headphones. Is this correct?
Do you have a bluetooth speaker, or headset you could try(or a friends)?
I'm unsure of what the issue with your sound is, BUT I think knowing those two things would help figure it out.
I would say if you get sound from the internal speakers, and from bluetooth, it could be a hardware issue with the headphone jack, or something similar. If you dont get sound in one or more of the other instances then it could indicate a software issue or another hardware component.
If the device is under waranty and it seems to be a hardware issue I would consider getting Acer to fix it. In which case you may want to downgrade back to stock before you ship it.
Hope this sound issue was just a temporary thing that is already resolved. Let us know what happens
I had this problem 2 months ago. After some software experimention I determined it was very likely to be hardware. I called Acer support and got an RMA. Just under two weeks from me dropping the unit off at Fedex to when it came back repaired. Work order in the box said IO card replaced. No problems since.
Same sound problem
I have a similar problem.
I have the latest available android installed on the Iconia a100 (Acer_AV041_A100?1.037.00_WW_GEN1, ICS 4.0.3)
and I had no problem with the headphone sound until last week. I have used it regularly, almost every other day.
Since then headphone icon does not show up when I connect it to the device. Sound is correct via the speakers but it is not an option on public transport.
I have tried several headphones, to switch the device on/off, to increase/decrease volume, to switch on with headphone plugged in but nothing happens.
I have checked the plug as far as I could: there is no dust or anything unusual in the hole.
I could continue with a factory reset (after archiving everything) but I am not very optimistic about that.
Is factory reset could help? Is it a hardware issue or am I missing something?
Thx.
When i insert headphone jack into the connector of phone, it doesn't works. I tried plugging and unplugging many times, still doesn't works even cleaned the jack connector from inside. Does anyone have this kind of problem?

did you try using different headphones? And are you running stock or custom?
Hi I've got the same problem.
My headphones (brainwavz m1) aren't working with my phone. I'm running official firmware 15.4.A.1.9. The official sony headphones which i've got with package works without problem. I have this problem since previous update (about 10 june 2014 i think) i thought that it's software bug, and i had hope that they will fix it with next system update, but i was wrong. I restored fabric settings and it was fine for about 1 hour after that time the problem is still occurring.
Any ideas how to fix it? i'm thinking that's a system bug but i'm totaly green in this topic.
Same problem here.
Up until I was sticking with the original ROM (4.1) everything was fine and every headset worked (with/without mic, no matter the brand).
Now on 5.0 (Cyanogen) and only headsets with mic are working (again, no matter the brand).
It has to be a SW problem, but I have no idea where to start. Someone willing to investigate / explain?

Hey, I had a similar problem when first purchasing the phone. Some cables (CTIA) are not compatible therefore wont provide any sort of audio. Try to use headphones that work with the device (Sony ones will work).
Hope this helps
So I am having a weird issue with my headphone jack. I have replaced it to no avail.
One day it just started getting all static-y and then cut out in a period of 10 seconds or so. If I wiggle the headphone jack it will come back on. However, without even touching the device, it cuts back out sometimes.
I have tried flashing different ROMS so I know its not software related.
I had not played with any audio software that boosts gain that could have damaged it that way.
As I previously stated, I ordered a replacement jack and replaced it, making sure the ZIF connector is snug and making contact.
It does it with anything plugged into my headphone jack, any pair of headphones, any stereo with a 3.5mm to RCA cable, anything.
Has anyone experienced this? I have a feeling whatever circuitry that drives the headphone jack itself is damaged.
Audio is always fine over the speaker or bluetooth.
Thanks in advance.

It's a common issue with these phones. I went through the same thing you did, ended up replacing the jack multiple times to no avail. Eventually just cashed in on my phone insurance and had them send me a new one. As far as I could find, no one was able to resolve the issue once it began happening, but it would gradually get worse.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd hate for you to chase your tail around as I did. Temporary fix is putting pressure from the front of the phone to the back in a pinch fashion about where the headphone jack is. Goodluck!
Try using a hair dryer on it for a few minutes (medium to no heat with a fast sweeping motion... not concentrating the air on it 100% of the time). There may be some moisture in the connection that might be messing with it (happened a few times with my portable devices and it helped all the time).

I have fixed tons of these on our phones. Common issue. That part is like 5 bucks the you need to replace. Taking the phone apart to do so, its pretty simple. on a scale of 1-10 10 being hardest i give it a 3. I can assure you wont void warranty because there's nothing to void, lol. If you need help advice or want me to do it for ya, send me a message.

What is the part you are referring too? I have already replaced The headphone jack and it did not fix it.
If you replaced the internal jack. Then 1 you ordered a defective one or 2 your main board is fried. If you bought the part from China its probably bad. Edit: did you actually replace the headphones yet?

I ordered it from a US seller. And yes the headphones were the first thing I replaced. The headphone circuitry must be fried. Oh well. Thanks for the help guys.
Did you clean the area with 99% alcohol?

Hello guys, I have an rooted Note N7100, with custom rom installed.
My problem is when i plug the headphones the sound gets corrupted, i have changed my rom because of it but its still going on.
I recently changed N7100's mainboard including the USB port, so technically everything is new except screen. I have tried lots of things but they didnt work. I think I just broke (or damaged) headphone jack on mainboard.
Thanks.

Try another headphone if that didn't fix the sound, then you will have to change the headset jack, no other workaround.
Not everything new actually work.
i hade a problem like yours but it was bad grounding ( two boards was not connecting to each other ) tighten the screw next to the camera and press by your fingers tight next to the camera over the screw
I just received the new headphone jack and changed it with the old one but.. that didnt solved my problem.

What rom are you using??
Sometimes the rom sources are same and same problem can exist in both roms
Also have you tried cleaning your phone's headphone jack?

The problem is about the sound chip, I think.
Because;
I have changed the headphone jack, didn't solve my problem,
Changed two roms which didn't solve my problem,
Tried sound tweaks and stuff, didn't solve my problem.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP :good:
