I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S ATT LTE, I just give up my iPad for the this device.
I'am trying to use the device for tethering, and I believe I need root access to do it with all the hassle, so is there a root for this device.
Also it seems when I try to use OPENvpn on the device it tends to drop the connection, and this has been a issue for me, for all Android devices I have, is there something I have to do to the APN in order to get this to work right.
Please let me know thanks.
I belive att devices have locked bootloaders prevent root access. I have not seen any root guides for the tab s att variants as it not supported by cf auto root yet.

So is it best that i just return the Tablet to the ATT Store because there wont be a root for it?
OR
IS there a chance that there would be a root out for this device.
Heres the thread for the root for the 8.4 wifi and only lte st705. The att model is t705A i think. So theres no root for att. I have not see any developnent for att rooting of the tab s so it may be a while for root on this device. The only way to get root is by I guess finding a 705 lte model or a wifi model. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2805366 thats the thread for the 705 and wifi version of the root so theres no att root. If you want you can try to get a different tab like the tab note or the tab pros. I suggest you checking any other lte tabs that have root for your carrier/model if you want to get another tab.
So I just bought the GS6 today and I really like it so far but I cant seem to find a way to root it... I havent rooted a phone for over a year and I stupidly updated to 5.1.1 before I was sure I could root the update. I have a Sprint GS6 (G920PVPUBOGA) and Ping pong doesnt work and I cant find any root options that I am sure work with my baseband. I am not super savvy on rooting so I dont know if that matters but I wanted to make sure before I used a root option that would brick my phone.
thanks in advance for your help!

Head on over to our Android Development section. You will need one of those 5.1.1 kernels and Odin 3.10.6. Put the kernel in AP of Odin. There has been comfirmation that Unikernel is working with the OGA update. Note this will trigger your Knox counter and void warranty. Hope this helps.

I will do that thank you for your advice!
I can confirm, UniKernel works fine on OGA stock. Ramified also as that's what I am running.
srry but I read pretty much everything here and I don't think isee a proper root.. I just bought this phone and if no root I would like to return it or trade it in.
also is there a adblocker that actually works or is there a tether app that I can use without att knowing??

I'd take it back ASAP because there's no permanent root for it because it's bootloader locked and you're not capable of flashing a different recovery! There is tether root meaning anytime you have to restart your phone you'll need to be by your computer to run a script to get it out of a bootloop! It's not worth keeping in my opinion if you want root! Buy a T-Mobile Note 5 and you can have permanent root and roms!
Take it back and get the international one or a tmobile one unlocked. We are having to much problems with rooting this one.
Maybe someone should check unlocked n5 u like fellows did in s7 edge thread. Using s7 edge u . For att & t-mobile. Think they got root on it. Also running the unlocked software someone fix to work with odin for s7e & t-mobile to flash.

i was just doing some browsing and noticed that there isnt really any root for the note 5 att variant, then i found out the new cf auto root generator and it has this variant on there with the 6.0.1 version im on which is n920aucs4cpk1 baseband version it has it on the site and the 7.0 version and was wondering if anyone has tried this or not? i have seen the tethered semi root, i just picked up this phone, i have been wanting one for so long and dont want to risk a hardbrick as i have done that in the past with the s3's by accident, anyone willing to test it? i know the bootloader is locked but i am unsure if thats the only thing in the way of root or not
locked, so no rooting yet/ever. thats an old device, already 7 and 8, so doubt if anyone working on it
Has anyone tried to use towelroot (or equivalent) on us models? I'm currently using sprint.

Did not know that. Thanks.
maybe we need to root like the aristo 2 I just rooted one may try on g7
